Trade Talk R6, 2013

Written by Motts on April 29 2013

Big week for trades this week with some big injuries (Rioli, Walker, Toovey) and some rookies getting up to a price that is pretty bloody tempting.

Who’s in and who’s out for your boys?

  1. Zorko & Stevie J are possibles for coming in this week. Will have to see who is out injured & suspended before deciding who goes out for them.

  2. I’m holding fire on upgrades and going..

    Mayes in for Dwyer
    Gawn in for Blicavs

Am thinking Danger/Deledio/Murphy in for Moloney and a Premium defender in..

    Thoughts?

  3. IN: S Johnson
    OUT: Dwyer

May do a second trade, but unsure as of yet. A lot will depend on the Port rookies status. Rory Laird is waiting in the wings. Z Williams (GWS) could be a good downgrade week after this as a $96,200 midfielder

  4. Figured Blicavs has very little earning potential left. He’s out for Gawn.
Figured Ablett isn’t going to go down much more before the byes. He’s in for Dal Santo.

  5. Thoughts running through my head. Going currie to gawn but really stewing over heinz jacobs to luenburger with the lot to net me an extra 100+k

Tu do it, ketchup deserves a run in the magoos for the poor form hes showing

Td hold it buddy, he will come good and make up for his lack luster couple of weeks and trades are gold

  6. Blitzer >> to Gaaawwwnnnn is a lock.

  7. All depends on:
    MRP;
    Goodes, Zorko, Monfries
    Injuries;
    Gibbs, Hawkins, Crouch, Pittard, Brown
    Form;
    Dwyer, McCaffer, Blicavz.
So trades this week I feel will be to avoid a dreaded 0.

  9. Hey just a quick note on SC breakevens. Neade had a break even of 71 and a proj. increase in value $36,300, he hit his BE score of 71 exactly but only increased by $32,200. Are the SC BE projections calculated incorrectly?…..has anyone else noticed this?

  10. I have gone Bilcavs – Gawn

will be trading M. Jones to a rookie/ Robbie grey next week no good looking 2 gamers atm

  11. What do we think of a dwyer to gray trade? Play awesome in a quarter and a half as the sub. He should start avoiding the sub from now on.

Or should I consider goodes (if suspended) to docherty and 200k for a dwyer to afranklin or stevie j nnext week. Already booked in the blicavs to gawn trade.

    TU dwyer to gray
TD goodes to docherty if suspended

  12. Currently have Pendles, JPK, Fyfe, Mundy, Hannebery and rookies in my midfield. They are doing well, but need to get some real firepower in. Got some cash in the bank and cutting ties with a forward and back rookie to make room. Got a plan to get GAJ in a week or two but who to bring in this week? Early thoughts are Watson…

    Thumbs up: Watson
Thumbs down: Selwood + an extra $10K

    Cheers 🙂

  13. Had this convo with MJ on the w/e PA. Heater will be inconsistent with the occasional tag, plus the baggage you mention. Dixon should be more consistent and I’m confident he’ll ave 100. I would also go the Birch and Heppell before Heater.

  14. Dwyer – Winderlich
    Heath – Docherty.

It was either between Heath or Stevenson, but Stevensons BE is -7 and Heaths is in 28.

  15. Made some money on J. Steven, though not as much as I envisaged, and have been holding off on Plowman for two weeks waiting for a good option.

Would like to wait a bit longer on Vlastuin but noting that Swannie has dipped about 35 odd K, and I cant see him going much lower then its Trigger Time.

    Plowman-Vlastuin
    Steven-Swan

    Team is linked.

  18. I am trying to fit Gaz in this week. But I have to get rid of a mid to make way. So I’ve gone with Shuey because he is averaging only 92, and I need more out of my “premiums”. Dwyers going also to make way, and maybe Paparone to come in? Or should I cut one of my Port rookies (I have Stevenson, Heath, Pittard, Neade…)

I think Dwyer is near the end of his regular starting berth, and may have met his peak.

  19. Thought on Matt Priddis in the coming weeks?
    Has scored 86, 113,126,104, 5.
    Has a BE of 205.
In 2 weeks time he is set to be priced at $427,500.

    Dale Thomas?
    Has scored 59, 24, 58.
    Has a BE of 182.
In 2 weeks time he is set to be priced at $350,000

    Robbie Gray?
    Has scored 17, 73.
    Has a BE of 90
In 2 weeks he is set to be priced at $279,900.

    Matthew Boyd?
    Has scored 74, 107.
    Has a BE of 180.
In 2 weeks he is set to be priced at $544,800

  20. I’ve got Gibbs, Goodes, Heath, Pittard and Brown all in my defense and all doubtful to play. Will look to bring in Docherty for Heath and I wanted to do Blicavs for Gawn but I may need to bring in another defender. Are there any more defender rookies on the bubble this week?

  21. I need some suggestions guys
    My current midfield is GAJ,Pendles,Jobe,Danger,Fyfe,Lucas,Omeara,Evans
    Hill,Kommer
im thinkin Pittard or Stevenson>Docherty and then Lucas>Cotchin
    Or Dwyer>Paporone then Lucas>Cotchin
With either downgrade i can afford any Mid
    What should it be????

  22. This one’s been annoying me all morning… I know all 3 have cash to be made, but when you see an opportunity to upgrade to a premium, you have to take it.

Thumbs up – Stevenson -> Birchall

Thumbs down – Pittard/ Terlich -> Charlie Dixon (with approx. 50-80 K in the bank)

  23. Going to be crucified for this; But im actually considering bringing in Setanta.

Very tempting price (220K) given his first 2 outings (all be it against the worst in the business). But even if he has an average game this week and next week his price WILL go up. He is guaranteed a game at the Giants and with Patton gone for the year he will be the only target man down there for them.

With the protection afforded to big forwards these days he is likely to get atleast a cheap free kick or 2 which equals Contensted possessions which equals big points if he can keep finding the big sticks. Regardless of his inability to catch The Clap at Woodstock, he should make enough money to be worth the risk.

  24. Im thinking either

    Dwyer > Ablett
    Blicavs > Gawn
    or
    Stevenson > H.Shaw
    Dwyer > M. Robinson

    thumbs up first option
    thumbs down second option

  25. Big Joe Daniher is one to think about as a downgrade option. Went to the VFL on the weekend and wasn’t playing. I personally think he’ll play this week.

    At the moment… Tex-Daniher. Stevenson-Hartlett.

  26. Bring on Priddis, thanks to that 5, he has dropped 60k and with a breakeven of 205, will drop a whole lot more, and when that happens… He will be a welcome addition to the team.

  27. Birchall, Goodes, Gibbs, Pittard, J Russel, Plowman (A Joseph, Staker)

Ablett, Swan, Watson, Rioli, Wines, Omeara, Lucas, Whitfield (Evans, Colquhoun)

    Hale, Rowe (Bilcavs, Cordy)

Westhoff, JJK, Zorko, J. Riewoldt, Hampson Maccaffer (Stringer, Karnezis)

Because of so many people possibly not playing in defence ive decided to do both trades in defence.

Trade 1: I went rioli (now injured for 2 months)-hartlett and used DPP to get in to defence

    Trade 2: Staker-Terlich?

After these trades I have 23.

  29. if dochertys not the sub i would prefer him to gawn. but after this week im a bit uncertain.
need to drop walker now that he’s done for the season. but i need a little extra cash to upgrade to a premium. so im going to drop dwyer for either gawn or docherty, might even get kommer back in.
what i need to know though is should i trade for:

    t/u jobe watson
    t/d steve johnson

  30. Blicavs’ score this week of 27 and his high break even of 36 has put me right of keeping him so its blicavs -> dawn
Ablett isnt going to go down much more and is looking in good form. dangerfield on the other hand with also looking at more forward line time…..
    dangerfield-> ablett.
just need to wait and see with suspensions seeing i have gibbs, goods and fyfe.

  31. Im tossing up Tex Walker to Stevie J (definite)

and Blicavs to Mayes via Rowe TU

or Pittard to Docherty/Laird TD – comment on which one appreciated

the Pittard option leaves $340K in bank and saves a donut if Pittard is out again…

  32. Would anybody think I would be mad for trading Bryce Gibbs for Gary Ablett?

It would mean I could grab gaz in what is probably his season low point and also cover the gibbs/goodes dilemma in the backline.

Also would i be even madder to trade gibbs back in a couple of rounds when his price drops and a cashcow matures?

Thumbs up: Just crazy enough to work
    Thumbs down: I’m a madman

  33. Rioli to Hartlett
    Staker to Terlich

Thoughts? What are the other good rooks in defence who havent gone up in price yet who i can get instead of terlich? Im planning to get Vlausutin next week since hes only played one.

  34. B. Goodes to Vlaustin or Docherty?
    Wines to Ablett

Really unsure with these trades… it feels to early to be trading out Wines but I need Ablett!

And not sure who would be the best pick, I know Vlaustin has only played one game and scored poorly but his attack on the ball and tackling was phenomenal for a first gamer!

TU – Good trades, have to get Ablett
    TD – Don’t do it

  36. I have racked my brain over this and have reshuffled so many times, this one feels right,
OUT Goodes ($331,300) IN Hartlett ($538,100)
    OUT Walker ($436,100) IN O’hAilpin ($252,500)
    Backline after
Birchall Hartlett Goddard Heath Shaw Roughead With Gibbs and Frost on the pine.
    Forward After
Westoff Cloke Bartel Roughead Mayes O’hAilpin
with Macaffer and Dwyer On Bench

  38. Stumped. Perplexed. Confused. Got no bloody idea.

I’ve run through numerous options and countless trade proposals but i keep hitting brick walls. Players that are definitely out are Gibbs, Goodes, Fyfe plus then there’s various question marks over Pittard, Stevenson and Brown.

Keeping Fyfe as he’s a jet but the others are all potential trade options. Only have $76,700 in the wallet unfortunately so i can’t upgrade like crazy.

I’ve considered downgrading Gibbs to a rookie and upgrading Viney to Watson or Pendles or maybe Gibbs to Birchall. Take out Gibbs first game against the Tigers where he went nuts and his best is only 95 plus his injury is being discussed as at least one week which to me sounds like two or three.

Then there’s the options of keeping Gibbs and maybe getting rid of Goodes and one of three from Port. Could pick up most of the good defenders but not a Birchall in this scenario plus a rookie.

Interested to know what Trengove’s injury means for selection at Alberton too.

Any advice would be appreciated. I really am incredibly confused as to what the right move is.

  40. Since I have no spare cash, and as long as I don’t have any donuts, I’m doing the smart thing and saving my trades. Although the Blicavs to Gawn trade looks tempting, I don’t think the 100K profit is worth a trade.

  41. Looking at a Goodes – Heater and Cyril – Stevie J. Stevie J trade locked in and need to prevent a probable doughnut so Goodes gone with his enforced break. The other option would be downgrade Goodes to Laird/Docherty with a view to getting a premium mid the following week.

    TU Goodes – Heater
    TD Goodes – Laird

  45. I should win this week but im wondering if i should do one of these options:
    Thinking of trading:
    1)
    Dwyer-> Swan
    Bliclavs-> Gawn.

Ill only have 4k, left which is worrying as ill be down to 23 trades.

    2)
Wait another week or so for all my rookies to go up. Trade out Stevenson/Pittard/Heath -> 500k Defender.
    Dwyer-> 450k Forward/Midfield (Priddis maybe?)

    T/U: Option 1
    T/D: Option 2

  46. Hi Guys,

Now I know some of you may call me crazy but I’m having major issues this week with my defenders. I was hoping to make the following trades.

    Gibbs and K.Mitchell – OUT
Either (Laird or Docherty) and Watson – IN

Tossing up between the two rookie defenders as not too sure if Voss will keep Docherty on

I still have 97.1K left and I can even save more money if I opt to get SJ.

    Appreciate your thoughts!

  47. Sorry for the double post, wrong thread first time.
Im thinking Dangermouse to Hartlett which allows Goodes to go onto the bench in the mids, and Fyfe to Jobe . Problem is I then need Jack Frost, who may be lucky due to Toovey going down, or Pittard, who I think is doubtful or 50/50 at best, being named this week, so I can put Gibbs on the Def bench.
No other trades will be considered elsewhere due to the Def dramas.
I would like to trade out Currie for Gawn, but cant see how.
    Any thoughts guys?

  48. fyfe! killing me.
trades for this round are as follows…
    Fyfe – Swan/watson
Gibbs – H Shaw,i know its a sideways trade but im not going to trade a prem for anything less. birch is to expensive and just wont leave enough money in the kitty for future upgrades.
other mids are: gaj, pendles, cotchin, moloney, wines, omeara,, evans(dwyer, viney)
other backs: godd, hepps, hartlett, stevenson, pittard(goodes terlich)
cows will be good for milking in the next 1-3 weeks

  49. Not the smartest move to begin with (ahhh hindsight!!) but selected C. Newman instead of Birchall and Hartlett.
With the dramas unfolding in the backline and with $178K in the bank after a possible Dwyer > Kerridge trade, do I:
    T/U Trade Newman to Birch/Heater/Hartlett/Dixon
T/D Wait for the three PA cows to fatten another week or two

I plan to keep Gibbs and Goodes

    $89,800 in the salary cap.

Fyfe > Stevie J (then put him in FWDs)
    Jacobs > Leunberger
