So much talk, not enough trades. Who are you looking at trading ahead of team selections?

  1. Is anyone trading beams now that he’s out 2 weeks?

His position in my team was looking a little shaky as it, just because I wasn’t sure if he’d be a keeper or not (kind of like libba last year), and trading him would be the easiest way for me to bring a premo mid in like Bont or pendles

    1. I also don’t think I have enough playing bodies in the miss with him and parfitts going down in the same week

      3

    2. 2 weeks for a quad is assuming best case recovery time IMO

Parfitt out for Parsons in if named, otherwise Black most likely

      Beams out and Pendles in

      26

      1. Scott said in his Press Conference after the Pies game that Parsons would come straight back in.
Not sure Black will hold his spot though with Menzel back after being managed last week.

  2. So this week like many im planning on Parfitt to Parsons, assuming he is named

    Then…

    T/U Omera to Bont
    T/D Roughy to Buddy (+200k)

    30

    2
  3. Currently considering…

TU: Out Parfitt & Beams, In Dusty and Buddy (24.2k)

TD: Out Parfitt & Beams, In Sloane and Parsons (214.9k)

Comment: grab Pendles or Martin (as value picks) instead of Sloane to use extra cash for upgrades next week.

  4. I need to dump beams and JOM
I can get pendles and maybe a rookie? Should i take a punt on myerson?

I wanted to dump marchbank, but will have to wait another week

    3

    4
  5. TU: Out Beams and O’meara, In Pendles and Tom Mitchell, cop a donut for Nank in the rucks (if Preuss not named)
TD: Out Parfitt and O’meara, In Stef Martin and Parsons (if named), hold Beams

    7

    22
  6. So unfortunately im one of those who has beams, nank and greene.
I have like 18k in the bank with only 23 trades left. My team is:

    Laird, adams, shaw, touhy, otten,
    Newman (EVW, hampton)

Danger, wines, oliver, treloar, fyfe, kennedy, beams, spp (pickett and 2 flogs on the bench)

    Martin, sandi (cameron)

Greene, nank, dahlhaus, houston, butler, steele. (Eddy, balic)

    HELP!

    1. Depending on teams, if you want to avoid the donut I’d go with Eddy down to Parsons, then Beams up to Cripps or Heppell. Not ideal, but those guys will be close to top 10 mids.

      1

      1
  7. Will firstly be trading JOM to Parsons. What other trade should I make?

    T/U Parfitt-S Martin (will avoid Nanks 0)

    T/D Beams-Bont/Sloane

    7

    14
      1. Via a dual position player – you need to use the website (not app) to do it.

Eg if he has say taranto or Pickett forward, after selecting to trade JOM on the trade screen he can hit the “s” next to taranto/pickett, they will move to midfield and he can trade in a forward.

        1

        1
        1. BKW you can use the app to trade using dpp. Select who you want to trade out. At the bottom select the trade out tab again. Select the player you want to change positions by dragging right and pressing S. When you go back to trade in tab it should give you the correct position for the trade in

          10

          1
          1. Thanks mate – the app user interface is terrible, the couldn’t have done a better job of hiding that feature!

  8. could it be st. nick allover again. ๐Ÿ˜‰ you do realise you don’t have to trade out beams this week. tho pendles is pretty cheap atm.

    8

    1
    1. Beams will miss the next two weeks, will HOPEFULLY play the two after that, then he has his bye.
This means he will play 2 out of the 5 next rounds.

      2

  9. thinking Beams and Parfitt out question is who to get in. I will get Parsons/Black depending on who is named and I have enough money spare for any premo I want.

TU: Sloane is worth the extra cash and wont drop for a while.

TD: The Bont is just as good and wont be this cheap again for a while.

    5

    27
  10. which ruckman should i bring in for Nank?

    TU: S Martin (557k)
    TD: B Grundy (513k)

    comment for any other suggestions

  11. top of the morning fellow SC’s.. a lot is dependent on TLT later on this evening but the trades I’m looking at

    Marchbank Out – McNiece In
    Otten Out – Bontempelli In

    T/U Yes
    T/D No

appreciate any responses as always lads..

    15

    7
  12. Beams out means a donut without trading. Realized I don’t have to change who I bring in to get 18 on field. I was planning to replace Turner with Parsons, now I just replace Beans with Parsons after moving Dahlhaus to the mids. Then next week I upgrade Turner to whatever mid I want, and probably another upgrade as well depending on cow ripeness and available fallen premiums. Does mean 18 on the pitch this week, which given all the “fun” I’m considering a win.

    Out: Beams & Hampton
    In: Parsons & McNeice

Will give me $883,000 (!) in the bank for next week.

    12

    0
        1. Lol, we all knew what you meant ๐Ÿ™‚

          $883k would be some warchest!

Personally. i’m waiting till the teams come out, i’ve reversed trades 10 times this week already!

          3

          0
          1. Unless I am going to be away from a computer, I always hold trades until final changes are announced for the relevant matches, just in case.

            8

            0
            1. Makes sense, however one of my proposed trades this week, involves swinging Jack Steele from Mid to Fwd this week, so have no choice there.

              2

              0
  13. Beams and parfitt out for taylor adams and parsons.
Then in a few weeks time will move adams to defense and bring in gray or dusty

    2

    0
  14. I’m thinking the same as you father but I do like the look of Bont against my tigers.
I’ll be fielding a full team either way atm

    TU Marchbank/Beams > Parsons/Mcneice
    War chest of 896,500

    TD Marchbank/Beams > Mcneice/Bont
    Bank 409,700

    Thanks all

  15. Beams being out has made me question everything again. Thinking that I’ll be missing out on Hibberd as not convinced any of my cows are in dire need of being moved on and after being burnt by injuries to injury-prone players it has made me re-think Hibberd. Will also give myself another look at Heeney this week and happy to pay a little extra for him if he performs well again this week.

    Parfitt and Butler Out
    Parsons and Bont In

    11

    1
  16. Out: beams and Hampton
    In: bont and parsons
    Via balic swing to mids

    Then my team becomes
Docherty, Laird, Adams, Otten, Newman, Stewart
Bont, Pendles, Danger, Fyfe, JPK, J.Kelly, Treloar, SPP
    Grundy, Sandilands
Dahl, Macrae, T,Walker, WHE, Butler, Houston

Will need to upgrade one of my defensive rookies to get a better on field player e.g. stewart to howe
    Got 60,000 in the bank

    TU: Great trade, go ahead
    TD: Burnt trades

    7

    0
  17. thinking of Beams and Parfitt > Bont and Parsons with 300k in the bank
Even with Dahl and Macrae as well I am happy with it however it means Dahl is stuck in my midfield with Balic being forced to bench over Parsons/Eddy.

Then in a week or 2 I will go WHE > Rocky and get Dahl back in my forward line.

    TU: Good Moves.
    TD: There are better options.

    7

    0
  18. TU – roughy – Martin (avoid nanks 0)
    JOM – parsons
    TD – JOM – hanners
Hampton – hibberd (with nanks 0)

    6

    1
  19. I am a bit worried about Danger as Capt playing injured so need another option:
    TU Swallow to Pendles
    TD Swallow to Bont

    16

    8
    1. Next week’s chopping block looks like Parfitt and one of Ottens or Marchbank for another bubble rookie and another fallen premo.

I could go Simpson this week, but both Ottens and Marchbank have cash in them still and plugging injury/suspension holes means Pendles this week is wiser than Simpson.

  20. Advice please :

Parfitt to either Black/Parsons , cop a donut in the ruck with Nank and Hampton to Hibberd

    or

Parfitt to Parsons and Houston to Ryder , thus covering and avoiding a “0” providing Eddy is selected .

    1

    1
    1. If you are relying on Eddy being named and Ryder to save you, then i’d be planning for next week.

Remember also that Ryder is part of the China bye.

Seems like a wasteful trade imho.

There has to be a better ruck option in your price range. Even reassess your forwards and look at Nank’s 105 average as a forward. Chop one to cover your donut and buy a premo ruck.

      6

  21. My concern is; looking at projections, if everyone plays this week (i.e. Parsons) then there is very little on the cash cow horizon ๐Ÿ™

    1

    0
  22. so i’m thinking

    m.hibbard (nth) to macrae
parfitt to parsons (if named to play)

    tu yes
    td no

    11

    0
  23. Is it still worth jumping on the Balic train for some cash and cover mid/fwd (i.e. Nank, Greene)?

    7

    6
    1. It’s obviously not ideal but if it’s the best thing to do you can do it. He’s still projected to make a fair amount of cash.

      4

      1
  24. Hi SCT brains trust.

Two moves for me this week.
TU: Beams+ Parfitt out for Sloane + Parsons

TD: Beams + Parfiit out for Penders + Parsons.

    5

    14
  25. hampton to EVW and parfitt to parsons or black should give me enough cash for beams to martin and taranto (or hopefully simpkin depending on price changes after this weekend) to riewoldt or macrae next week.

  26. Sorry if i have missed this question if it has been asked.

Do we think Heeney will make it through the season without getting ill again to become a top 6 fwd?

    T/U should be ok.
T/D will most likely miss games.

    6

    9
    1. Not sure how we can answer this, we’d all be just guessing.

If healthy I think he can be a top ten forward, can’t see him stepping up to top 6.

      3

      0
      1. Thanks BKW. Not sure how the glandular fever will effect him in the longer term.
Was in my team prior to getting ill.
Trying to work out what to do with Parfitt/Miles/Eddy/Florent/Barrett. Nank out.

  27. Is T. Adams a must-have this year?
I knew he’d score well, but didn’t select him in my starting lineup due to his injury history. Didn’t expect him to score THIS well though…
If not, I’ll most likely be bringing in Docherty this week.

TU: Adams will be a top 3 defender this year, get him in!
TD: Docherty the more reliable option

    6

    14
    1. I’d like to see how he performs after the reintroduction of De Goey. If he continues to rack up the numbers and get plenty of time in the guts and stay injury free, then I’ll bring him in as well but after the byes.

      1

      0
  28. Screwed. Greene, Nankervis and Beams in my 22.
Murphy was going to be an upgrade to Pendles.
Want to do Eddy to Parsons in the FWDs.
May risk holding Beams. But I’ve still got Barrett (surely a chance of a recall after Brissy’s effort last week?) and Pickett on my bench mids.

    $190k in the Kitty.

All depends on teams as to how many rookies I may have to field.

I hate this game that I love.

    1

  29. This week it looks like I’ll be going Parfitt and Beams out, Parsons and Docherty in (via the shit Hibberd).
Leaves me with enough cash in the bank to trade Hibberd up to Bont next week!

    TU: Good stuff
    TD: Rethink

    11

    0
  30. TU: Beams to Pendles and O’Meara to S Martin (via Parfitt and Nank) 7K left
TD: O’Meara to Parsons (via Dahl) and Parfitt to S Martin (via Nank) 234K left

    3

    7
  31. T/up – Parfitt to Parsons, Beams to The Bont (I also have Dahlhaus and Macrae)

T/down – Parfitt to Parsons, Beams to Pendles (have treloar)

    6

    6
      1. 1. Parsons is highly rated internally at the club.
        2. Got suspended and came back into the side immediately.
        3. Showed consistent scoring whereas Black has historically gone either massive or complete potatoe.
        4. Black got a gig based on injuries/suspensions and team structure experiments and could be dropped at any instance without warning.
        5. Is slightly cheaper, every dollar counts.

        0

        0
  32. Can go, Mcgrath to Yeo with 1 trade or I can go Mcgrath to Macrae and Houston down to Parsons
Highly considering not making the second trade as I am will be down to 19 if I do pull the trigger on both.
    T/U One
T/D Make both and don’t get Yeo this way. (get a better player in macrae)

    1

    7
  33. Have decided on Beams to Macrae via DPP.
Want to bring in Parsons to generate some cash for another upgrade next week.
TU – Trade out Turner AV 55 BE 40
TD – Trade out Houston AV 68 BE 42

    9

    0
  34. T/U – Beams out for Pendlebury & Matera out for Parsons

T/D – Omeara out for Pendlebury & Matera out for Parsons

    0

    11
  35. Thinking at this stage
Out: Parfitt & O’Meara, In: Parsons and H.Shaw>Via Adams
This leaves me 260k in the bank to do a double upgrade next week. The week after that, I can trade out Hampton>Myers(will be on the bubble)via Adams, and possibly trade out Beams to Rockliff at roughly 550k instead of his current price tag.
    TU: sounds like a plan
    TD: rethink options

    7

    0
  36. JOm n Swallow out

    Pendles n Parsons in

Dont think the JOm Swallow experiment has worked at all, low scores n missed games is not what anyone needs

    12

    0
  37. I’ve got 2 options

    Beams Out Pendlebury In

    Or

    Omeara Out Pendlebury In

Omeara has a BE of 108 so I’ll most likely lose value on him by keeping him but now that Beams is gone for a minimum 2 weeks should I stick with Omeara?

    TU first option
    TD second option

    1

    14
  38. Ruck problems
Currently have Sandi and Nank with pruess on the bench. I need another premium ruck however not keen on getting one this week as they pretty much all have massive break evens.
T/U Take the donut and make trades elsewhere like Roughy and Parfitt out for Parsons and Pendles
or T/D Trade Pruess to a premo ruck
Comment for any other ideas (Maybe a cheap fwd/ruck dpp?)
    Thanks

    3

    2
      1. If i got a premo ruck now Nank would move fwd and after the byes Preuss would be traded to Strandica for cash generation and to open up the fwd/ruck swing

        1

        0
  39. TU) OUT: Parfitt & Beams | IN: Parsons & Selwood ($134.6k rem)
TD) OUT: Parfitt & Marchbank | IN: Parsons & EVW ($472.9k rem)

My concern with option 1 is Selwoodโ€™s high-ish BE of 132 meaning it may be better to pick him up next week. This doesnโ€™t leave a heap of cash in the bank for future weeks and I fear missing out on the cash from cowโ€™s now may leave my team short later in the season.

My concern with option 2 is EVWโ€™s job security & potential low-scoring output this week. Iโ€™d like him to play all 5 games up until his round 12 bye so I can sell. Holding Beams is no real concern this week as I have the cover and my planned trades next week would be Beams & Swallow OUT for Rockliff & Selwood IN.

    2

    5
  40. Can somebody please explain to me why EVW is a better downgrade option than Melican? The latter has a higher average, a lower breakeven, is about the same age as EVW, and has a much more rookie-friendly coach.

    Is there something I’m missing?

    0

    0
    1. No expert but im guessing Job Security? Mcveigh is in this week, think Melican (or Newman) will be at his expense.

      0

      0
      1. Perhaps, but I don’t think there’s really such thing as job security if you’re playing under one of the Scott brothers. Longmire, by contrast, generally likes to give rookies a proper run at it.

        0

        0
      2. Melican is a key defender.

Melican will probably be dropped if Aliir comes back, Newman could be the one to go with McVeigh returning.

I’m not touching either. Melican for the reasons above and EVW because we’ve seen whats happened with the other North rookies. Not touching another with a 10 foot pole.

        4

        0
          1. If you were going one of these to avoid a 0, I would be going EVW. Like the reason you suggested, better average, lower BE but also tied in with Melicans prospects.

I’m not touching and rookie defenders myself. I’m trading in DPP defenders to the MIDS and then swinging them back when I want to cash out on the rookies.

            3

            0
            1. I don’t need to avoid a doughnut; I was just looking for a way to cash-in Hampton. It’s not urgent, though, so I’m happy to wait until a better prospect comes along.

              0

              0
  41. In new to sc. Is the idea to have every player in your team making money including bench players? Thanks

    0

    0
    1. No. The idea is to score the greatest number of points possible. The money-making aspect of the game is about being able to upgrade your lesser-performing players to higher-performing ones, thus allowing your team to score more points.

Let’s say that you have two players who have appreciated in value to, say, $350,000. If you downgrade one of them to a player who is priced at $120,000, this will give you $230,000 with which to upgrade the other, allowing you to bring in a player up to the value of $580,000.

      2

      2
      1. Of course you need as many making money, including the bench.

If you bench isn’t making money then you will struggle to upgrade the last 1/2 on field rookies to premiums.

        3

        0
      2. Judging by the early thumbs down, I think people might be misinterpreting my answer.

I should have added that yes, you do want your bench players making money. Any on-field players that you don’t intend to keep for the entire season should also be making money. You don’t need to worry about the price fluctuations of those that you do want to keep, however.

All I was saying in my original answer was that making money is not the primary objective of the game โ€“ scoring points is. Making money is desirable insomuch as it furthers this aim, but it is always secondary to it, at least in the long run.

  42. I will be trading out Beams & JOM. I will be bringing in Pendles. The 2nd trade is causing me grief –

TU : Trade in T Adams with the plan on moving him to Def within the next few weeks when I trade out a cow, leaves me with only $3,700 in the bank. He would join Laird, Shaw & Doc as a backline premium keeper.

TD: Trade in Parsons via DPP to leave me $432,8700 in the bank, and with a breakeven of 126 for Adams, he can wait a week.

    2

    10
  43. I’ve already brought in Parsons, for my 2nd trade

    T/U – Beams > Sloane/Bont & play JOM on field ($50/121k ITB)
    T/D – JOM > T.Miles & do double upgrade next week ($440k ITB)

    4

    1
  44. I need 2 forwards to avoid a donut, I’m booting Beams and Parfitt for Parsons and Heeney via DPP, I can go to any forward but I want the $440k for upgrades next week.

Heeney looked great last week, is he the best value premo available? Is he even a premo?

I’m on holiday, I’ve had too much time to think about this…

    0

    4
  45. I was really wanting to bring in two downgrade cows, but with Beams out and Hampton looking needed to make sure I have 6 defenders on the pitch, I’m thinking I’ll just have to miss a defense downgrade and bring in a premo to replace Beams. Less cash eventually, but more points this week. Unless I have just jinxed Pendles. At least he and Treloar won’t both be tagged at the same time.

    Out: Turner & Beams
    In : Pendles & Parsons

Pickett – Hibberd (Melb) via Adams DPP
