Trade Talk – Rd10

Written by Schwarzwalder on May 20 2018

No doubt you’ve been thinking of that Big T over the weekend.  It’s been consuming your thoughts at every waking moment, everything else has just been background noise.  Now is the time to get it all off your chest………… who’s coming into your team this week?  Who is making room?

        1. M9 and use him as loophole later in the season? I haven’t looked at Brisbane’s fixture, so no idea if that would work but sure would be nice to be able to loop in his massive scores and avoid his shockers.

        1. Might be better off taking a punt on Kennedy as F7 when he has bottomed out and back in Coleman medal form.

          1

          1
  1. Murray —> Phillips via DPP
    Finlayson —> Danger

    Should have brought in Danger about 2 weeks ago but wanted to see whether he was near back to his best

    21

  2. TU: Tim Kelly to Jack Macrae?
    TD: Jack Henry to Franklin/Darling/ Westhoff (after bye)

    Macrae would complete full mid premos

  3. Emptying my warchest.

    Richards down to Ridley

    & Brayshaw to Dangerfield

    Midfield will be: Macrae, Fyfe, Titch, Cripps, Danger, Dusty, Cogs and Kelly.

    1. Ridley will struggle to keep his spot with Hurley coming back into the side ether this week or next, I would wait to see what happens

      7

      2
    2. Finishing the mid’s this week, don’t want to risk Kelly burning out especially seeing his B/E is so high now. Most likely will trade Kelly to Danger for safety and Henry to Phillips Via DPP.

      T/U – Yes good idea
      T/D – Nahhhh

      Additional note – Everyone should be weary to not go to early on Ridley, his job security is low seeing he was the replacement for Hurley, even if he does stay in the side he may have a smaller role which will mean he won’t be scoring the 75 that he scored this week, also Geelong played horrible so that helped his score rise.

      1. I’m a dons fan. Ridley is a totally different play to Hurley, doesn’t intercept, doesn’t really defend, receives heaps of the ball and kicks the ball very well (something we need out of defence). Hurley is more likely to take Dea out of the team in my opinion than Ridley. Gleeson coming back would be more likely to take Ridley out of the team but he won’t be back for a little while longer. In any case I’m trading a D7 and not a D6 (planning on going Murray to Simpson if he shows enough next week and keeping Doedee) so even if his JS isn’t the greatest at this stage I’m more worried about making quick upgrades. If he can be in and out of the team an play during one of the byes then great. Also we will be hard pressed to find a rookie in defence with very solid JS this late in the season and we can’t delay trades until one who is suitable shows up.

        1. player** I can’t edit my comments and I’m too impulsive to remember to look over them before I hit that button.

  4. Went early on phillips so no clear downgrade for me this week which is a bummer. I’ve traded pretty hard this year so thinking I might hold

  5. do you trust buddy with his heel?
    tu – yes, he’ll be fine now and it wont affect him again
    td – no, could flare up any time. steer clear

  6. Is it just too much at 727k to bring in Macrae?

    Can go Tim kelly to either Macrae or dusty. If i don’t get macrae this week then i don’t think ill ever be able to but his just so expensive i feel i may be better just settling on Oliver down the track and grabbing Dusty this week.

    T/U – Tim Kelly to Macrae his too good not to have

    T/D – Tim Kelly to Dusty and finish my last mid spot with Oliver instead

    1. I would look for option c and upgrade another position. Macrae is good and he’s on a tear, his 3-round average is 174. 174!!! That is insane, almost unsustainable :S

      I think the highest SC average is in the mid-130’s (historically – Danger / Gaz), so I don’t see how Macrae could sustain 140 for the season. Even if he does, a 140 average puts him in the $690k range. So if you bring him in this week, you’re paying an extra $40k – you basically have to ask yourself if it’s worth paying over for his (currently) massive scores. Or wait until those crazy scores roll out of his average (most likely his best price will be one week post-bye) and pick him up at the bargain basement price (lol) of $690k.

  7. Murray to lloyd
    T kelly to danger

    Tkelly to (anyone macrae/oliver/danger)
    Henry to phillips via spargo

    Do i keep looking after the $$ in the rookies and go 1 by 1?

    2

    4
  8. T/U Kelly -> Phillips and Murray -> anyone (Petracca to Rockliff next week)

    T/D Murray -> Phillips and next week Kelly -> Rockliff

  9. Finally giving up on jacobs in the ruck, should have done so ages ago.
    Looking at nic nat or ryder to replace him
    Who will be a better option for the rest of the season?

    TU: nic nat (this round)
    TD: ryder (post bye)

    17

    13
  10. Henry to Phillips via dpp
    Brayshaw to J.Lloyd via dpp

    My defence premiums will be Laird, Hurley, Simpson, Sicily and Lloyd with one spot to fill.

    1. His interrupted pre-season worries me. Always relied on elite fitness and feel it may catch up with him. Also coming off two massive wins. Looks like a decent D6 with Sicily though, and at 500k is still well priced. Known to drop some 40 point games though.

  11. I was lucky enough to snag Macrae 2 weeks ago after his 180 odd and even then people were saying he was too expensive and Crouch was the better option. I took the view that Macrae still had plenty of upsaide then, but if I was in the same position now I wouldnt be bringing him in at close to 730k – at some stage he will be a lot cheaper and I think if you missed that first boat wait for another one.

  12. Tu Tim kelly to Cripps
    Td, Sam Murray to Kade Simpson.
    Looking for bye options,
    Cripps is better, but i’m weighing up kelly’s up-comming score’s vs murray’s
    i.e if Kelly scores 110 trading cripps will only net me 0-40 pts.
    But if murray keeps getting 60’s, going to simpson gets 40-80 pts.

    Cripps is the better player but which is the better trade?

  13. Once again I will want to make at least three trades next week so must make one of the early this week.

    Naughton –> Ridley

    Leaves me with 18 trades and $218,900 in the bank

    15

    2
      1. I am sure it would be better! But, since I can’t make three trades in one week, I may have to risk it. It is certainly a risk. I will be pondering other options though; early in the week still so time to think about other plans.

    TD hold Kelly till his bye.Watch Billings explode!

  15. Got to check over my byes to work out who i’m bringing in but Henry, Naughton, Kelly 2 are likely to go.

    1. T.Smith for mine. Played 1 game last year before getting injured and looked the goods then too. More crucial role in Melbourne team also (small defender – which they have few of).

      6

  16. TU: Double downgrade of A Brayshaw and J Henry freeing up 460,000 which allows me to upgrade Lycett, Guelfi and Ronke to Ryder, Walters and Gray in Rd11 and Rd12. Means I keep T Kelly and cannot get Danger till RD 15-16.

    TD: Downgrade J Henry this week and upgrade T Kelly to P Dangerfield thus completing my midfield consisting of P Dangerfield, T Mitchell, N Fyfe, D Martin, C Oliver, J Kelly, S Coniglio, D Zorko.
    A Brayshaw would be downgraded and Lycett would be upgraded to Ryder in rd11, Guelfi/Spargo upgraded to M Walters in Rd12 and Ronke would be upgraded to R Gray between Rd 12-14.

  18. Am looking at doing:

    Finlayson – Yeo
    Murray – Ridley.

    Leaves me with 5 guns in def, just have to play with either Ridley or Coffield in the backline till possibly next week. Cant afford a premium defender without selling murray and finlayson, which are going to start leaking cash

    5

    0
    1. Yeo likely to miss a couple of weeks, he had a solid limp after the game once he cooled down, just look at some trade down options to build cash before the byes, yeo can come in rd 13 and unlikely his price will change to much

      2

      8
  19. Got a bit of a conundrum this week.

    Kelly will make way for Phillips, that’s locked in. Henry the other to be traded out, but through the magic of DPP swinging, I can bring in any defender, mid or forward I want…

    I’ve got 3 defensive spots to fill, and 1 each in the midfield and forward lines.

    Heeney and Buddy are duking it out for the last forward spot, and both have high enough BE’s that they could be cheaper in the coming weeks. Happy to save that forward spot for now.

    Dangerfield is the obvious option, and the highest averaging mid premo I don’t have, but with a BE of 112 he’s not likely to deviate much…though he does play Carlton…

    Then we come to the backline. Options aplenty – McDonald, Webster, Simpson, Lloyd, Yeo. McDonald adds an interesting layer of flexibility, as I’d have both he and Sicily down back and Keeffe on the forward bench, he’s also about to rocket in price so if he continues on with current form he may be too expensive to easily bring in later. Webster in rare form, can he sustain it? Lloyd smashing it, going to have a huge price rise, but only 3 tonnes from 9 games, so his average is a bit inflated. Yeo not changing much, Simmo on the decrease – will wait on those guys.

    T/U – Just get Danger
    T/D – Moneyball one of the guys about to rise (McDonald/Lloyd/Webster)
    Comment – If T/D, which player?

    11

    1. You might have to wait one more week on Ridley because he may have only scored high because of Hurley’s absence.

    Fit my bye structure

    Out: Higgins and Billings plus war chest

    Now only 5 premos away from complete team with 17 trades left.

    Next week Gray in for Armitage and Fritsch plus Smith
    T/U Good option

    T/D Bad

  21. Finally get to move on Bonner this week. Glad I started with him so at least I got his round 1 score before he started spudding it up.

    Trades are planned as follows this week;
    Bonner -> Ridley
    Kelly -> Danger

          If Brayshaw is your only option then go with him because they are good trades but there are other more pressing rookies that need to go

  23. Looking to turn Henry and T.Kelly into Dangerfield and preferably a n0n-Rd14 bye rookie. So not keen on Phillips and willing to risk going early instead:

    TU: T.Smith
    TD: Ridley

    May end up getting the other one next week anyway.

    Thanks coaches!

    Jacobs/NicNat

  29. Hey, can someone suggest some future moves?

    My Team is:

    Laird, Yeo, Lloyd, Simpson, Doedee, Murray (Murphy, Duman)

    Danger, Cripps, Bont, Mitchell, Dusty, Parker, Coniglio, Kelly, (Armo, Barry, Phillips)

    Gawn, Nic Nat (MCiNerney)

    Sicily, McDonald, Heeney, Dalhaus, Fritsch, Guelfi (Scheer, Keefe)

    I’ve made my 2 trades for the week which is Simmo and McDonald for Higgins and Billings.

    I can reverse and make other changes if someone could suggest. I had 400k in bank before trades

    and 50k now

    Cheers

  30. Hey all.

    So I have scored poorly the last few rounds (just over 2000’s) but I have been able to improve my team in that span.
    Besides not having Macrae and Sauce Jacobs killing me, it doesn’t make sense!!

    Team:

    Laird. Sicily. Simpson. Savage. Murray. Cole.
    B: Mirra. Cumming.

    Fyfe. Cripps. Mitchell. Oliver. Martin. Cognilio. Z. Merrett. Kelly.
    B: A. Brayshaw (Freo). Spargo. Barry.

    Gawn. Jacobs. B: Olango

    McLean. Heeney. Smith. Walters. Fritsch. Guelfi.
    B: Henry. Keefe.

    This week, what option do you think I should go with?

    T/U:
    A. Brayshaw (Freo) -> E. Phillips
    Murray -> Yeo
    Warchest = $92K

    T/D:
    A. Brayshaw (Freo) -> E. Phillips
    Kelly -> Dangerfield
    Warchest = $126K

    *If I go Macrae over Danger, I only have $900 remaining.
    Ideally I’d like to upgrade my cash cows to premo’s the next few weeks to complete the team.

    Thanks in advance for your input lads and ladettes!
