  1. What are the good downgrade targets this week apart from Ahern? Need to downgrade Higgins to someone but not sure who.

    1. DEF
Could go Redman a week early or Taylor (GWS) but i am concerned about his position when Cumming and Keeffe and Finlayson are all potentials.
Mihocek also an option at basement price but had a 36 before his bye.

      ANY OTHERS
Battle on his bye, not a bad option and he has a good JS after kicking 5 goals in 2 games. Be aware that he kicked 3 against GC and only scored 64 and i doubt he will be kicking 2-3 every week

  2. Is Wingard worth a look as a loophole M9/F7?
He seems to have spent more time in the midfield during the last 2 games.

    1. Looks to have turned corner… I got him this week after Wines last week and he is a cert for f6 now as well as dpp in case of a midfield disaster.

  3. Early thoughts….
    Spargo to Ahern
Higgins to a premium forward that I can’t decide on
Either Rice or Phillips to JSmith?

  4. Will be upgrading Henry and either Guelfi or Ronke over the next week or two so i’ll be looking for fwd options (got McLean, Gray, Heeney and Sicily already). With money in the bank i might be right to do this without a 3rd trade which would be fantastic.

Webster out inj so i’ll keep my eyes on that news over his bye. Would prefer to not trade him. Think the quote i read was that he’ll miss one game (ie, he’s got a 2 week injury).

  5. Currently considering
    Out: E Phillips, N Holman, B Ronke
    In: P Ahern, P Cripps, O Wines.

Midfield is now finished with cover and ability to loop post byes:
    Mids: P Dangerfield, T Mitchell, N Fyfe, C Oliver, J Kelly, P Cripps, D Zorko, S Coniglio, (O Wines, P Ahern, C Ballard).

Then need to move Doedee to D7 by upgrading Austin to J Webster/J Lloyd/J Howe/etc between rd15-18.

  6. Duman to Redman if picked allows Nank to Grundy and hopefully 22 onfield scoring. Still need one def and one mid but sitting clear on top so planning to keep Doedee and Holman till R18 and then chose…cover on all lines except ruck.

    1. Not convinced about Kelly. OP is about the biggest red flag there is, and he’s only had one good score which was against the Suns…

McDonald an injury concern as well, but as a F/D his upside is huge. Kelly is just one of a handful of mids who will average 110-115, so I’d lean towards a less riskier option.

      I don’t think I’m ready for this Kelly…

      7

      6
      1. I don’t know about the handful..
I currently have 6/7 of the top mids (don’t have Curnow)
My other 2 mids are Coniglio & Martin
The next 2 highest averages are
        Treloar & Kelly
No other mid is averaging 110 let alone 115.
I’m not sure what other option there is other than Treloar.

PS. I like how this looks like I’m talking to myself.

        11

        1. I guess my point is more around his injury than scoring potential, however Neale, Bont, Zorko and Duncan would all be around the mark.

  7. In theory I should have 18 on field before trades so probably looking at
    Phillips> Ahern
    Murphy > Mihocek
    both locked in
    Then for my upgrade
    TU: ZGL > Gray
    TD: ZGL > Hurley

    14

  8. Tom Lynch looks to be over his knee , with a lot more games @ Metricon in the back 1/2 of the season poses good value , @ worst Higgins + 60k makes a decent F7 come finals ..

    3

    17
  9. Best forward under 460k?

Full Premo team other than Frisch, so am open to POD suggestions.

De Goey, Wingard and Lynch spring to mind.

    1

  10. Doedee and Holman out
    Hurley and Kelly in
18 players playing provided no one is dropped, but it is the bye rounds there will be carnage 😉

    5

    1
  11. Trading out a forward to swing Boak from Mids to Fwd line in order to bring in Treloar.

I’ve got the numbers for this bye week, so who shall I trade:

    TU: B. Fritsch
    TD: C. Curnow

The remaining player will be my last upgrade, so I’m leaning towards Bayley considering he has money to make.

      1. with 50 % of the comp still holding at least 1 mid pricer like martin & not planning to trade her , I doubt most would be close to full premo ..

        1

        1
  12. Out henry and doedee
    In tmac and ahern
Leaves me with 19 available if guys like spargo and tim smith named. If both dropped will consider Austin out for redman

    7

    0
  13. Doedee to Crisp
    Holman down to Joel Smith
    Henry to Oliver (via Walters)

Leaves me full premo except Fritsch at F6 who is doing well enough to stay longer

    6

  14. Who are good options to trade in for macrae? I’m tho king someone like Oliver or wines since Fyfe is on the bye

    1

    0
  15. If both picked, I’m looking at going early on one of these 2 rookie defenders

    T/U … Joel Smith ( Melb ) $152,500 def/mid
T/D … Mason Redman ( Ess ) $113,200 not sure of both JS & if Smith is worth the extra $39,300?

    Cheers Catta

    27

    10
    1. I’ve got the same choice to make, Catta. I’m going for Smith I think, which means Redman is definitely the right choice

      8

      2
  16. Out. Doedee, brayshaw, phillips

    In. Mcdonald, treloar, ahern.
Leaves 40k in the bank, 7 trades left. With only 1 more mid premo to get

    6

  17. Pretty set on these trades but if you think there’s any overwhelming flaws in my ideas or you’d like to see my full team to make a better judgment let me know 🙂

    Out: J.Macrae, H.Clark and J.Henry
    In: J.Kelly, A.Treloar and J.Gunston
$181k in the bank, 6 trades left.

Now assuming Guelfi plays this week and makes $11000 or more I will be able to use one trade to take him up to Buddy. I understand the risk of Gunston and Kelly but really given the state of my team I don’t have much choice. Cheers

    1. Gunston isn’t a risk in my book. Kelly is, but the upside is there. Bontempelli is flying completely under the if you are open to other options.

      3

      0
      1. Agree on Gunston – he has a cracking run home against all the weaker teams. Taking out his 47 against WCE – he has a 98 ave.

        1. Yeah I looked at his scores and saw he only had that one shocker and figured he’d be alright. Cheers for the replies too.

          1. plan:until Laird goes out… repeat as infinitum for Fyfe, Walter’s etc etc

No plan survives first contact with the enemy

            Hermulth von Moltke

  18. Over the last few weeks, Sam Jacobs has tried very hard to convince me to let him keep his job. I commend him for that. But with his bye here, it’s time to move him on. Grundy’s extra points each week are just too tempting.

I’m also looking to upgrade Tim Kelly to a cheap-ish premium mid. Bontempelli ($536K) is in great form after a slow-ish start to the year, and is flying completely under the radar. I’m also a fan of Tom Phillips ($525K). Treloar could also be an option if I can find a cheap enough playing downgrade for Holman.

    2

    5
  19. Best option for D6

UP – McDonald (flying at the moment with no sign of slowing)
DN – Lloyd (I am concerned that he plays a very outside game)

    13

    20
    1. Alternatively I can get Neale next week. My concern with Neale is he does tend to have the off sub-60 shocker. He is injury free though.

      6

      1. Cannot afford as m9. A week by week proposition does not sound great. Maybe I need to consider other options.

  20. Looking for a reliable mid gun and noticed how consistent Duncan is. Is Duncan a good upgrade target over the next couple of weeks?

    18

  21. have done trades for this week. not saying what as i don’t want to be talked out of them! tad risky.
next week i’ll be looking at a single UG trade to complete all lines, bar Fritsch at F6.
will have 5 trades left for the remainder of the season, but what do people recommend as a slush fund for managing LTI trades?
is $100k considered enough, or should i be looking for a little more/less?
if things go ok for a couple of weeks, i can always DG a fattened cow to raise some cash?

  22. Targeted team for this week.

Yeo, simpson, siciliy, hurn, hurley, mihohek

Mitchell, oliver, treloar, cripps, zorko, coniglio, merrett, rocky

    Gawn, Grundy

Mcdonald, Gray, Mclean, Westhoff, j cameron, Fritch

    Good chance to win weekly?

    4

    14
  23. Macrae to Cripps and Spargo to Kelly gives me a full premo midfield of Danger, Fyfe, Cripps, Kelly, Oliver, Coniglio, Martin.

My defence is Lloyd, Yeo, Laird, Sicily, Austin and Mirra. I’ll look to bring in Mcdonald next week with a downgrade of Austin or Mirra or both. Ideally if I have 5 premo defenders and 5 premo forwards with full premium midfielders and ruck I should be alright.

Ruck is Gawn and Nic Nat

Forwards are: Heeney, Buddy, McLean, Smith, Gray, Fritsch

I have 6 trades left for the season and only one real upgrade to do down back so hopefully everything can work out from here onwards.

  24. Hi community,

Hoping I can get some help this week as I’m a bit torn as to what I should do.

Thumbs up – Triple Trade Austin/Guelfi/Holman to Kelly/Oliver/Ahern (finishes off my team, with 20k in the bank, but leaves a weak bench)

Thumbs down – Double trade – Holman/Barry to Kelly or Oliver/Ahern (leaves one playing rookie with 200k in the bank, but has some cows to fatten up and will finish team in a week or 2)

    4

    9
  25. I think Kelly is a must have at that price. He has such a high ceiling and missing those games through injury is a good thing IMO. Looks fresh, injury free and running on top of the ground. Guaranteed not to be rested

    4

    0
  26. Mihochek/Smith and McDonald in

    Higgins and Doedee out

Next week Kelly and Guelfi out

    Fyfe and Rookie in

Leaves mids done, dusty at m9

    Forwards 1 needed. Defense done.

  27. THE INJURY-ravaged Bulldogs will be hoping Marcus Bontempelli, Tom Boyd and Toby McLean make it to the start line for Saturday’s clash with North Melbourne.

Already without a number of their senior players, the Dogs returned from Adelaide licking their wounds following a heavy defeat by the Power.

Bontempelli faces a test after he hyperextended his knee in the last quarter. The superstar has, however, been cleared of serious structural damage.

Boyd, who needed surgery to repair a compound dislocation of his finger, will also be assessed, while McLean hurt his shoulder in the first quarter but finished the game.

Easton Wood could miss the rest of the season with a high-grade hamstring injury, Jack Macrae has a low-grade hamstring strain and will miss up to a month, and Lukas Webb is expected to miss 3-4 weeks with a fractured thumb.

  28. Thoughts on these 3 trades this week:

    Doedee to Hurley
    Holman to Ahern
    Henry to R Gray

    T/U – Yes
    T/D – No

    29

    1
    1. Gray has an extra round
Gray average at home is 114.9 ( 6 more this season )

      Menagola has bye this week
Menagola average 2018 at home is 94.5 (4 more this season)
Menagola average 2018 at MCG is 85.1 ( 2 more games this season )

      Gray 🙂

  29. This could be very silly but moved up to rank 200 now so feel like I’ve gotta go for it:

    Macrae – J Kelly
    Fogarty – J Smith
    Rice – Hurley

Leaving only 4 trades but after byes Mundy is my F7/M9 swing man and I should be covered for 18 on field this round bar selection carnage.

    TU: Go for gold
    TD: Hold fire

    34

    0
        1. Cheers allsaints! Looks like I’ll wait if he’s gonna be cheaper. All depends on the selection carnage I spose

  30. Brought in Hurn this week (scored 61) prob should have stuck to Yeo.

So in saying that I have two defence upgrades to go..224k in the bank.

    Doedee trade to;
    TU: Hurley (only costs 70k)
    TD: Yeo (125k)

    1

    26
      1. Hurn will come good. Had to spend unusual time on Buddy with McGovern off the ground a bit. He’ll be back hitting tons soon enough.
I’d base my response to the above on how many you have on field for this week, how many trades you have left and how far off full premo are you? Yeo is likely gonna be top 3 to season’s end, along with Laird and ANO, so I wouldn’t compromise on getting him in.
Depends on your situ. Good luck!

        1

        0
  31. Have 11 trades left:
    Austin – Yeo
    Parker – Oliver
Holman – 120k rookie (not sure which)
I will have 19 on field then, with just fritsch to upgrade next week.
Is the sideways trade from Parker to Oliver worth it?

    TU: yes

    TD: no

    7

    13
  32. Will have 19 scorers on the field this week. Just not sure about who to upgrade for Doedee.

    T/U Tom McDonald
    T/D Jake Lloyd

    6

    18
    1. Why Richards? Scoring well at the mo and nice low BE. If it’s so you can afford the two premos, then go for it. Not sure about Redman’s JS that’s all.

      1

      0
  33. Thinking of a triple trade
    J.Macrae, T.Doedee and M.Crowden out
    C.Oliver, M.Hurley and C.Wingard in
Gives me full team after byes with 8 trades and 225k in the bank to upgrade underperforming premo’s

    8

    0
    1. Gr8 triple upgrade, Shane

Hopefully you have Ahern to use with Wingard if needed, I’ve been very bullish of him the last few weeks. Plenty of upside especially if luxury trades are available, will be a perfect M9/F7 IMO

      2

      1
  34. Macrae to Oliver
    Murphy to Redman

Leaves me with 6 trades and 166k in the bank with only Ed Richards to upgrade. He could get to high 300’s with his recent form continuing and will be an easy final upgrade to Crisp, Ryan, Howe or Webster.

    D7 Redman/Ridley
    M9 Ahern/Spargo/Giro
    F7 Guelfi/Smith

  35. Can’t split Curnow and Kelly for my last mid upgrade. Curnow is a bigger pod and is still scoring pretty decently despite the blues getting hammered but then Kelly being in a better team and having an easier run home could go ham but he does carry that risk of re-injuring himself. Would really love thoughts and thumbs on this, cheers.

    T/U – E.Curnow
    T/D – J.Kelly

    1. Doc

      I’m considering Treloar.

      Next 3 games.

      Blues ..Fyfe went crazy 🙂
      Suns. Der..
      Bombers. Easy.

Should be top scoring mid R17.

      4

      1
  36. Contemplating Gunston and Wingard. Both really well priced but both come with some hesitation.

    TU – Don’t do it
    TU – Do it

    8

    8
  37. Only 1 mid off full premium but trades are starting to run low, would need 3 trades to get my last premium mid as well .
    Do I ….
TU- go full premium and be very tight on trades
TD- hold off on full premium to keep a few extra trades up my sleeve

    6

    4
    1. Depends how low ‘low’ is. Wouldn’t want to be down to 5 but 7 or 8 is a decent number to try and hold on for the ride.

  38. Have a dilemma. Had to go hard with trades (injuries and bad calls) and have only 8 left going into this round. Going OK this year (reading all the advice on here – thanks) and ranked 503. This is a tough round though. Have to go Phillips to Ahern, but then only have enough cash (540000) to go Doedee to maybe Wines without another trade. I really wanted Oliver, but is it worth another trade.
Mids are Fyfe, Danger, Titch, Dusty, Cogs, Parker and Cripps.
TU – only do the two trades and take Ollie Wines (or someone else (540000)
TD – do the extra trade (down to 5 then) and get Oliver
    Still have Nank and Fritsch
    Thanks again

  39. Can anyone give me a good reason not to get Trelore, other than they owned him last year?

The Pies next 3 v Blues, Suns and the Bombers.

    T/U Get him in.

T/D I owned him last year.

    4

    11
    1. I bought him in this week for Macrae. And I had him last year! Pies structure seems the most settled of the lot = more of the same, surely

  40. Hi community, am thinking about 3 trades,
    Doodee to yeo,
Walters to r gray via dpp,
    Mcrae to Gunston via dpp

    T/u yes
    T/ d no

Should I get Ahern in instead. These 3trades would make me full premo except fo 1 def and 1 fwd. would have 5 trades left. Am in pos. 4500 overall

    1

    0
  41. Harris andrews a good pick? if not any other def
Got laird, Touhy, Hurley, LLoyd, Simpson,

Also made a trade this week MCrae for Wines

    0

    1
  42. Is Dangerfield a must have?
I know you probably do want him in your team but with him playing fwd a lot, his not scoring really well like he was last year but still scoring like a top 10 mid. I wanna get him but with my cash/trades situation it’s gonna be quite tight to get danger

    Sooo
T/U – Get the SuperCoach legend in
T/D – You could survive without him

(Obviously I know he has a bye this week just wondering if I should save cash for him next week)

    2

    4
  43. Making my final defender upgrade next week and some advice between

    T/U Hurn
    T/D Hurley

    Both similar prices and average.

Also anyone have any early mail on whether Tim Smith will be right to go this week (and whether he gets the nod)?

    0

    5
  44. Austin, Coffield and Spargo to
    Redman, JSmith and Wines

Full premo with 8 trades remaining

Wines averages 118 at Adelaide Oval and has 6 games left – 4 away games against bottom 8 teams in Carlton, Freo and Bulldogs
