  1. Playing for overall, got no cover, 2 trades remaining.

Tu; Hurn > Whitifeld (only if hurn misses)

Td; Hurn > Whitfield (go for it regardless)

  2. If I can’t afford Whitfield this week, is Houli a worthy alternative?

    TU: go for Houli
TD: burn an extra trade, get Whit

    1. Depends on how many trades you have left… and the state of your team.
I would say 5+ trades then its worth it!

  3. Can’t figure out which is better, going for overall and ranked in the top 50. Option 1 leaves me with a valuable trade and some cash too whereas option provides some good cover/loophole option.

Option 1: Smith > Whitfield, leaves me with Logue as D7, Clarke and Bewley as mid cover. 3 trades and $60k left.

Option 2: Bewley > Hill & Logue > Whitfield, leaves me with Smith as D7, Clarke and Hill as mid cover. 2 trades left with no funds

    1. I would want to have 3 trades + cash left. LTI’s can happen in the last 5 rounds. Better to have a trade than a bit of extra cover in defence. By and large most top 50 probably have Logue/Answerth as cover there anyway.

      1. Really surprised by the voting here, thought option 1 would be the way to go with the extra trade and cash being really valuable

  4. I have a real tough decision here… 6 trades 160k in bank

TU: setters > I.Hill (make 207k from trade but lose decent cover no swing)

TD: Bewley > I.Hill (make 100k from trade but gain mid/fwd swing with setters)

so basically whats more important that cash grab or a DPP swing at this time of year cash is handy as i have plenty of trades in hand too use it…

    11

    7
    1. But i lose 170k of my bank going ROB too Grundy as the 2nd trade so thats why the cash grab from TU is important.. cheers

  5. If Hurn is out again I can’t go to Williams with one trade. Logue as cover, 4 trades left. Current rank 424.
Lloyd, Whitfield, Hurn, Crisp, Laird, Ryan (Logue, Gardner)

T/U – Williams (2 trades left is enough)
T/D – Trade (DBJ, Hunter, Stewart, Houli or similar)

    Or…

  6. Hey guys, what’s my best move here?
5 trades remaining and 140k in the bank
    Only interested in cash league.

    Def
Lloyd, whitfield laird, ryan, Sicily, Smith
    (Answorth, gardiner)
    Mid
Macrae, fyfe, cripps, Neale, Sloane, oliver b crouch, setterfield (Hately, clarke, scott)
    Ruck
    Gawn, Grundy (Clarke)
    Fwd
Marshall, Kelly, danger, dunkley, greene, heeney (Chol, young)

Does anyone think I need to cash in setters to Hill? Then get a gun mid next week? Or leave the cover and wait? Unsure on Hills JS

      1. Hi JohnnyBoy.
I don’t see hately getting a game again this season cogs and Kelly both out and still cannot get a look in.
        I’d go:
Hately > Hill he looks to be a flashy xfactor type that GWS need so expect him to play the season out so good mid bench cover.

next week look at moving setters on too a premo like a merrett maybe

        2

        1
          1. If I go hately to Hill I then have 4 trades and 260 k. And only really one mid to upgrade.

Then I have setters , Answorth, hill, clarke as bench cover

            TU?

            10

            1
    1. An option could be
      Out: J Hately, M Chol
      In: Z Merrett, I Hill

W Setterfield and I Hill providing cover for multiple lines in conjunction with retaining D Clarke and N Answerth also covering their respective lines.

      3 trades left.

      2

      1
    1. At the price it has to be Whitfield. Lloyd is consistently great but barring injury Whitfield will likely outscore all defenders and possibly most mids for the run home. He is that SC g00d!

      4

      0
  7. Have Clarke, Hately and Bewley as bench cover in MIDs as well as Setterfield FWD that can swing into mids. Confident with both Setters and Clarke, holding spots while Bewley and Hately are obviously fringe players. I have 5 trades left and am well placed for league finals, but have only $200 cash in bank.

Is a Hately > I.Hill trade worth it to bank a bit of cash to throw behind my last 4 trades with an already full premo side. I also like this as Hill’s MID/FWD durability will work well with Setterfield.

TU: Make the trade, Hill JS better than Hately
TD: Hold the trade, not worth it.

    13

    2
    1. I’m in the same boat. Once hill is named and hately isn’t I’ll likely pull the trigger.
Do you have any upgrades to go?
If you really need to 100k . Go for it. You have enough trades

      2

      1
      1. No upgrades to go, fully premo but with underwhelming Sicily and Heeney at D6 and F6 respectively, i will need to make a decision over the next couple of weeks to either make those positions stronger or strengthen the D7/F7 for loophole cover with these guys.

  8. Hi guys, my first post here and looking for some advice to help me win my league

    6 trades left and $326,700

    TU: Logue > Ryan
    Setterfield > Greene
    $34k remaining

    TD: Logue > Whitfield
Then downgrade M Parker (F7) and upgrade Setterfield (F6) the following week

    1

    12
    1. Need more info. Do you need to win the last round for a top 4/8 finish?
If you don’t I would be getting Whitfield and then next upgrade before finals.

      2

        1. His ceiling is higher than both Treloar and Zerrett though, Paul. So when he scores back to back 140s it balances out the 70. It’s about total points from here on out.

          7

          2
          1. Yeo has 3 scores over 130 for the season expecting him to knock out 2 140 seems….. Unlikely. Merrett & Treloar also has 3 scores over 130 their tops being 155 & 150 both obviously higher than Yeo’s highest 142,.

Funnily enough all 3 have had 9 scores over 108
            *Yeo played one less game.

            0

            0
            1. That may have come off a bit harsh.

My point is that you are guessing based on next-to-nothing. Treloar has dropped one turd this year, Merrett has dropped two. So to say Yeo (who has two turds himself) will score “at least one -70 from here” is just guessing. Merrett and Treloar (or any player, really) are just as likely of dropping a 70.

  9. Hey there

Really stuck with what move to make next. Playing cash comp currently on top of ladder by 1 game … 5 trades left, 17k in the bank, ranked 643rd overall ….

    Lloyd/Zac Williams/Hurn/Laird/Stewart/Sicily (Logue/Quaynor)
    Macrae/Fyfe/Neale/Bont/Cripps/BCrouch/Taranto/Sheed (R.Gray/Clarke/Answorth)
    Grundy/Gawn (Bines)
    Danger/Dunkley/Marshall/Kelly/Greene/Worpol (Chol/Gardner)

    Really appreciate your feedback!

    1. Wow. Nice team, FC.

Being full premo with 5 trades, you’re freed up to sideways a few “premos”. I’d consider moves like:

      Sicily -> Whitfield

      OR

      Gray -> Cripps

      OR

      Worpel -> Boak/Billings

      1

      0
      1. Thanks GD.

I’ve got Cripps, and was actually leaning towards Sicily -> Whitfield but will need to do another trade and get cash to make this work. This would leave me with 3 trades after this week for any possible injuries in the finals.

        0

        0
    2. An option could be:
      Out: G Logue, D Sheed
In: I Hill (via N Answerth), T Hawkins (via J Dunkley)
Roughly 320,000 to 330,000 remaining salary and 3 trades left.

Then next week you could execute
      Out: M Chol, D Clarke
In: L Ryan (via I Hill and N Answerth), S Menegola/D Mundy (via I Hill)
      1 trade left

This would allow you to bring Ryan on and loop T Stewart/J Sicily at D6 if Quaynor misses, have Gray looping with Taranto at M8 if you have a non playing mid on the bench whilst providing cover on multiple lines and Menegola/Mundy looping with Hawkins at F6 whilst providing cover on multiple lines.

        1. Gotta wait till Thursday, Tom. Then we’ll know which defensive downgrade is the soundest.

          1

          0
  11. I have 3 trades left and was thinking of downgrading Oscar Baker to Ian Hill:
TU – Do it the DPP will be use full and added bench cover with Brewley and Clark
TD – Hold your trades, he isn’t going to make you score more on your bench and who knows how many injuries your team will have

BTW my team is full premo apart from Worpel and Heeney which i could use that money to go to a Marshall type player in a few weeks

    8

  12. With 5 trades left & to finish off my midfield
    TU: Merrett
    TD: Duncan
    Comment: Taranto

    Can’t afford Treloar or Yeo.
Other mids are Cripps, Fyfe, Neale, Macrae, Bont, Sloane, Oliver

    7 Trades – 47.9k in bank

Def: Lloyd, Williams, Hurn, Laird, Sicily, B.Smith (Logue, Gardener)

Mid: Macrae, Fyfe, Neale, Oliver, Cripps, Crouch, Merrett, D.Clarke (Setterfield, Hately, Bewley)

  14. Hello supercoach seers! Brother needs some . His daughter has just told him that kids at skool are barracking for the dogs and so I can’t support your team anymore Dad. Thumbs up – hug your daughter and cry on the inside. Thumbs down – burn down skool.

    1. I have had a similar situation.
My daughter used to be a North Melbourne member with Winston Abraham her favourite player. Then Mick Martyn scared her a bit and then she noticed Brad Green (swoon swoon) and so she changed to Melbourne.
I have asked her hows that goin’ for her and would she like to come back to North.
She says she can’t now because she works for Barry Plant Real Estate whose corporate uniform is the same as Melbourne’s colours

  15. Quaynor D7, Walsh M7, Answerth M8, Bewley M9, Setters F6, Chol F7.
    $83k in bank. 6 trades left. 10th on % (equal 7th on points), so do-or-die weekend…

Ive decided that Hurn’s uncertainty could be a worthwhile risk as my opponent has him…. so my idea is to:
    Hurn OUT Houli IN
    Walsh OUT Lyon/Duncan IN

T/U: Do it, it’s a ballsy but potentially genius move.
    T/D: Idiot, try again.
Comment: Jarryd Lyon or Mitch Duncan?

    Thanks!

    5

    11
    1. Need a POD instead of Treloar, as my opponent has him:

T/U: Jarryd Lyon, he’s going to smoke it on the home straight.
T/D: Mitch Duncan, Mr. Reliable in a team that’ll surely win more than te others.

      Thanks again!

      1

      16
    2. how do you have so many rookies onfield still at this point of the season..
DO NOT TRADE HURN!!! he should play this weekend. you have huge holes in ya team if you have walsh, answerth and setterfield all onfield still?

      sort them out…

hard to give much advice without seeing ya full team though LTW.

      1. I can answer that actually haha my overseas honeymoon fell on the 3rd byes 3-trade week with a biggish upgrade bank gone begging! The truth is Hurn (high risk i know) and those rooks are the only ones im willing to trade… and Treloar, Lyon, Duncan, Houli and Boak are my targets. Walsh to Lyon/Duncan is easily done. Maybe Hurn and Walsh to Lyon and Duncan? It puts Answerth and Setters as D6, F6 with a full premo Mid?

        0

        0
    3. “Trading Hurn”? Are you sh*tting me?

Everyone is making WAY to big a deal of his week off. He’s been one of the most AFL players of the last decade. Relax. He decided to pull out of last week’s game on his own volition- now he’ll play out the rest of the season.

And if you’re really concerned with injuries and durability, why on Earth would you bring in Houli?

      Jeez…

      15

      3
  16. (Chuckles) ok, im starting to get the hint that Hurn may not be a an attractive trade-out(!)

Being desperate for 8th, i just figured Lyons and Duncan would far outscore Hurn and Walsh, leaving 2 downgrades and 2 final D6/F6 upgrades.

Lets say Walsh is the one upgrade I can do this round, probably to Duncan… would Bewley to Hill be a good 2nd trade, if desperation were not an issue and I stick fat with Hurn?

    Thanks!

  17. 5 trades left and looking for some DEF cover.

    So OBaker-IHill and Lockhart-

TU – Simpson (fallen premium, 3 rd avg of 83)
TD – Silvagni (FWD swing, 3 rd avg of 87)

  18. Need help with D6
    Can afford,

    TU Ryan

    TD Sicily

Have Lloyd, Whitfield, Laird, Hurn, Smith, Logue

Is it worth burning another trade for Z Williams or another player?

    11

    5
    1. With Jarman Impey done for the season, surely Sicily becomes the main distributor off half back… it’s a risk but that’s supercoach!

      3

      1. Good observation, M. Although after Impey went off Smith starting playing half back though. Hmm.

  19. 5 trades left .. 200k inb

Need to trade Logue out as have Answerth at D7
for cover last def upgrade ..

TU: One trade to L Ryan

TD: use two trades Hately>Hill / Logue> Whitfield

Have one mid upgrade left then full premo side

    1

    7
  20. I have 4 trades left…3rd in the league, team complete.

    Do I fine tune?

Looking at moving Ziebell on, has a BE of 176…

TU-Hold and back him in, you’ll need those 4 trades as a safety

TD-Trade to either Marshall or Boak and risk running out of trades

    4

    4
    1. If it’ll on take 1 trade and you can straight swap Ziebell to Boak/Marshall, then yes.

      1

      0
  21. I’ve been trying to get Grundy for Gawn since R14 but always had other priorities. If results fall my way, I get a top 4 finish in my main league….I have an easy match up.
So, with four trades, and $101.3k, I will need a one up one down to get Grundy, and would need to do that this week to keep other options open. Got cover on every other line, but three players not 100% genuine prems…Shiel and R Gray in mids, and Gresham fwd.

So….assuming Hurn and Fyfe get up,

    t/u just gotta have Grundy
t/d rob will be fine….upgrade the others and the 30ppg missing from Grundy will easily be covered.

    So….

  22. Not enough trades to get rid of both Clarke and Stack.
Which is the better M7/M8 duo?

    TU: Duncan and Stack
    TD: Parker and Clarke

    20

    2
    1. Cunnington and Zerrett are the same price as Duncan, think both of them are better options.

      1

      3
  23. TU: Downgrade Logue for F.Watson and upgrade Clarke to Whitfield

    OR
Leave it and trade them out nextweek and do this trade
    TD: M.Parker, T.Obrien(Hawks) > D.Langland , M.Walters

    COMMENT
Hurn is out and use logue as cover until nextweek

  24. 4 trades left. Hurn out has forced me to have both Logue and Answerth onfield. Last upgrade needed is D6. Very frustrating.

    Plan……

Chol to Maclean. (Have Cameron on mid bench to swing if need be)
Logue into B. Smith. (Best I can afford). I rate Answerth better than Logie for D7.

    TU: yay
    TD: nay

  25. Hey,

Currently in 7th in my cash league but need a Win this week to guarantee finals.

    Def – Lloyd/Williams/Whitfield/laird/Hurn/Smith(Ainsworth/rotham)

    Mid – MacRae/Neale/Cripps/jKennedy/crouch/Sloane/zmerrett/Stack (Clarke/Hind/Scott)

    Rucks – Grundy/ROB (Sweet)

    Fwds- dunkley/Danger/Heeney/Kelly/dahlhaus/setterfield(Parker/Chol)

    9 trades and 310k

Was thinking Stack to Fyfe and setter to someone around 470k or setter to Boak and would leave me 505k for Mid

Means carrying Hurn for this week or I could trade out Hurn and stack and leave Setterfield

    0

    0
    1. I think I’d go Stack-Duncan Dalh-Boak,
Fyfe I’m concerned if they lose this week will be put on ice.

Dunkley should be a priority for you in even if in the Mids at some point.

  26. 4 trades left. ranked #438. going for league and overall.

    Setterfield > McLean
    Clarke > Whitfield (via Answerth)

This is the only way I can get Whitfield without doing 2 downgrades and burning an extra precious trade. Leaves me with 2 trades, full premium side and Hurn D6 Logue D7, Answerth M9, McLean F7.

Hoping McLean holds his spot (or just none of my FWDs get injured). But worst case scenario, I have 2 trades on hand should anything go awry.

    TU: sounds good
TD: burn more trades to get better FWD cover

  27. This might seem like a pointless and obscure question, but could make the world of difference to me in the long run. Who to trade out for Ian Hill?

    T/U Oscar Baker ($236k, b/e – 34)
    T/D bewley ($231k, b/e – 41)

I have 7 trades left, and just one upgrade required (Clarke). A couple of luxuries could be on the cards though (m crouch, heeney), so this is all about long term cash generation.
    Cheers

  29. Needing your combined wisdom…
    Best D6 options under 440k?

    – B. Smith
    – Z. Jones
    – JJ

Last spot I need to fill. Currently have Answerth/Logue at D6/7. Not keen to have them both onfield with Hurn out this week.

    1

    0
    1. I think Smith will come home well, Heath Shaw if you’re feeling nostalgic, Howe if you think the lack of Moore in the team will boost his score, Hunter Clarke if you want to roll the dice on a young fella.

      3

  30. Hi guys, what to do?

Trade Logue – Whitfield, and have duursma on field for Hurn. When Hurn returns my Def is complete
    OR
Trade D Clarke – Z Merret And my Mid is complete
    Cheers

    3

    2
    1. I would say go the Whitfield option, reason being you would rather field Whitfield over Merrett and have that as a priority. If Merrett goes huge this week and becomes too expensive, you can always look at an alternative…… cunners/duncan
On the other hand, Whitfield has a BE of 93 and could easily blow that out the park. Might be the best chance to pick him up this week, as I am.

      2

      0
  31. 6k short of Logue to Whitfield straight swap.
    So gunna go….
    Bewley > Langlands
    Logue > Whitfield

Leaves me with 4 trades and $100,000
    1 upgrade left next week,
D.Clarke & Setterfield to a rookie and whichever premium mid.

Leaves me with only 2 trades left but at full premium for week 1 of the finals.

    0

    1
  32. Have a tough decision. Playing for leagues only, currently top of table and can’t be caught so this week doesn’t matter. Have two final upgrades to do

    D6 logue, bench burgess/naish
M8 stack, bench Clarke, hately, bewley
    F6 Cameron, bench Hill/Gardner
$78k in bank, 6 trades left

    TU Option 1:
    Stack to Duncan
    Bewley to Langlands
Leaves me $100k next week to use logue plus one of hately/Clarke to go to Whitfield, full premo with three trades left

    TD Option 2:
    Stack to Merrett
Leaves me $26k for next week to try and do Logue+Clarke to Whitfield.
Projected to have $627k based on logue/clark projections which likely leaves me $10k short of Whitfield+rookie, but if they play well I can get Whitfield and enter week two of finals with three trades instead of two

Also have hurn complicating things but reckon hell be back. Play it safe with option 1 or gamble with option 2 for the extra trade but the risk is that I get stuck with a houli instead of Whitfield at D3 (rest of defence is lloyd/hurn/stewart/Sicily/Williams)

    5

    0
  33. Due to Hurn I need to make the move for Whitfield this week.
Due to timing I will need to downgrade one of my better back ups.
So is it more crucial to hold D. Clarke @ M9 or Answerth @ D7?

T/U: Trade Clarke for Langlands/Hill (Hind also Mid Cover)
T/D: Trade Answerth for Watson (No other Def Cover)

    2

    2
    1. Depending on how many trades you have left Id be leaning towards trading Clarke as cover on all lines is crucial coming into finals and as you said you have Hind or Hill still to cover the mids

      2

      0
      1. Cheers Jonezy.
Leaning this way also, as if Watson got dropped next week I’d be left with zero cover for the Def.

Any idea on JS for Langlands v Hill?
Leaning toward the Saint purely as GWS have players to return & Saint may be looking at the youth with Season shot.

        2

Would love some more information on Langlands, did he get up the ground as a forward?

  35. With old man Hurn out it has me second guessing my trade plans. With 4 trades left and a win a must to ensure I make my cash league final here are my trade options. Both options involve the same players coming in its just the trades out.

T/U: Original plan of Logue and Hately out for Zerrett and Hill. Leaves Smith/Rich at D5/6 with Burgess as cover (and playing this week because of Hurn), M Crouch at M8 with Clarke/Bewelly/Hill as cover and Heeney/Dahl at F6/7 and the ability to swing with Hill into the Mids.

T/D: Change of plan with Clarke and Burgess out for Zerrett and Hill. Same results as above except Logue as D7 (and playing this week) and Mid cover of Bewelly/Hill/Hately with DPP swing still in tact.

    1. Logue as Def cover is much better than Burgess.
And as you have the DPP with solid options, I think you can lose Clarke.

    1. Hold hurn for now and see if he plays next week if you have no cover then it might be a good choice

  36. So I’ve got a full premo side at the moment, I’ve just traded out Hurn for Whitfield which leaves me with 110k and 4 trades. Would it now be worth trading Lycett to Boak?

    1. Possibly. Tho’ light training loads only for Boak this last week.

Was also considering trading Lycett this week with Ryder named, albeit at full fwd. Lycett could drop $50k this week and be a bum steer for the run home, but with only 3 trades left and his ability to RUC cover, I am gonna hold.

Should be able to loop him and Heeney at F6 in the next week or so.
