Trade Talk – Rd3

Written by Schwarzwalder on April 2 2018

One of the busiest trade weeks of the year…..just before the majority of prices see their first change.

If you need to correct any initial gambles/breakouts/rookies that haven’t worked out as you’d hoped, then now is the time.

If someone has a long-term injury then now is the time.

If you missed one of the decent rookies then now is the time.

Who has to go ahead of Rd3?

    1. Simmons will not see a huge jump. Already priced in premo territory and only gets a single boost from his big game.

But if you’re concerned enough to be sidewards trading, he’s looking very very solid.

  1. Corrective trades:

Discussion of defense ins can be safely restricted to doedee, finlayson, bonner.

    Midfield ins to Kelly, Holman

    Forward ins to Fisher, Ryan.

Any love for Lyons who is thriving under Stewie Dew? Witts as our top ruck, and Lynch as top forward. Hell is there any love for Stewie Dew full stop.

    1. I really like Lyons, picked him up 5th round in my draft comp. Not sure how he is with a proper tag though which might be a bit of an issue if he continues playing consistently

  2. Hibberd and Lambert are gonski, the question is to who:

First, who should I trade in for Hibberd:

    T/U: Simpson
    T/D: Hurley

      1. Another one I would seriously consider is Tim Taranto. Playing far more mid time now Whitfield is playing defensively. Since Whitfield went back, Taranto has not failed to score a ton.

And is dpp to boot. For mid 3’s.

        1. Have considered him, but I’d like to see him produce that form until the byes before I jump on. Too risky atm for my liking.

            1. I’m with you, HH.

Supercoach is a marathon, not a sprint, yet one of the best moves I made last season was jumping on Oliver very early.

Taranto is a top 2 draft pick in a stacked team looking at little opposition attention, complete with DPP status.

Should he continue his good form then sure, pick him up at 550k. But fortune favours the brave. What is this game if not for the fun little gambles that make or break a season?

    1. Didn’t like Garlett’s game but Ryan has only pulled the one solid game, not sure Garlett is worth trading out for him.

      1. His be is 27 so he’s not going to lose $. I’m holding till a genuine rookie trade that I dont have becomes available.

      2. Actually, if he scores his average of 37 he will increase by ~$4k. Not great, but wouldn’t waste a trade downgrading him just yet. As someone said above his JS is good, so let him slow burn on your bench. Dogs will need to change things up to avert 2018 disaster, so that could play in his favour. Surely you’ve got bigger problems than Naughton? Surely!?!?

        1

    1. I assume you mean Lobb as your F5? I’d hold, he’ll have a few off games here and there early due to his interrupted pre-season but he’ll come good

      11

      1. Plus he was rucking against Grundy. He’ll struggle against the top 4-5 rucks but should do enough on the other weeks.

  3. Already ditched Coffield prior to Rd 2….now may need to trade H Clark for L Ryan via Heeney, & possibly Dow out for ZGL or Naughton out for Lachlan Murphy.
That’s if I can control my anger & not trade Hibberd & Daniher

    3

    4
  4. Beams was a silly decision, looking back on it. Pods are more for the end of the year so Beams it looking at going to Dusty and Dow goes to GilesLangdon via Garlett Dpp to give me cash.
Mid will be Danger Dusty and Titch with Fyfe and Cripps.
Hibberd in the backline will be a concern but I will probably stick it out with him

    3

    4
    1. I “corrective traded” Beams one year. After an interrupted preseason and a 2 round avg in the 60s I second guessed myself and hit the trade button.

I think he averaged 120 after that.

  5. I am thinking of just the 1 trade this week either

T – U Hibberd to Oliver for 6 premo Mids with Laird , Simpson Premo backs and Sicily.
    Or
T – D Naughton to Bonner D5 Murray on bench.

    19

    6
  6. Not something I thought I would ask but Zerrett to Titch? Have Dusty but no danger or Titch and I think it could hurt me in the long term.

    10

    23
    1. I have the same dilema but cant see anyone. So hold till something comes up. I have naughton on bench so good cover.

      5

      0
  7. Hibberd out for Bonner. Frees up 200k which I’ll use to get Danger after my midfield cows have jumped in a couple of weeks.

On another note, what’s the reason for only 2% of coaches having Mundy in the fwds? 491k and nearly a lock to score 95 every week

    4

    17
    1. Was in my team but then changed to Walters. Then changed to McLean.

Pretty much explains pre round 1 evolution of team.

      4

    1. Interesting. He got heavily tagged in both games, and is known for not shaking a tag.

      He’s 1 all on that.

So will Port throw a hard tag on him this week?

In Favour of keeping him his poor game only affects his price cycle one week.

  8. Looking to get rid of Ellis and Naughton
Can use Sicily to get in Ryan and for a premo def I am considering

    TU: Simpson
    TD: Hurn as a pod

    16

    8
  9. Ive got jack graham at M6. He scored 105 in rd 1 but that was largely off the back of 13 tackles as he only had 12 possessions.
I just cant see him making as many tackles as rd 1 every week so im not sure he will score that well regularly.
    Cant decide whether to
T/u persist with him till a decent cheap midfield rookie puts his hand up (already got holman, kelly, banfield, brayshaw, barry)
T/d cut my losses and jump on cam ellis yolman who is similar priced but looks like a more reliable scorer (especially with the crouches both out)

    17

    9
    1. In the same boat. Thought I hit the jackpot after round 1, now not so sure. Will probably persist though as he only needs to average 50 odd to rise in price

      0

  10. Need to replace Crouch, want to go for a value premium since the Danger fund will need to begin!

    TU: Cripps
    TD: Coniglio

    Comment: Parker

  11. Gotta Trade out Ryder, can’t decide between

    TU Goldie
    TD Nankervis
or anybody else , thanks for your help

    36

    17
    1. Be careful with Nank. I have him, but after the loss to Adelaide, Richmond are considering two rucks so Nank can have a rest up forward. Nank’s occasional non-presence in the ruck last Thursday was seen as pivotal to their loss.
Goldie is obviously looking good, but against our woeful Saints, might be deceptive … difficult call.
McEvoy outstanding today, but again with Z Smith astonishingly omitted may also be flattering. It’s a shame you have to make such an early call.
      Good luck with it

      10

      1
      1. Did some research on Nank in the preseason; what I found was that his average last year whilst being accompanied by either Soldo or Griffiths was higher than without. Clunks a lot of his points from tackles and contested grabs. His scoring was still spuratic so do expect the odd score of 60, but a second ruck will help with his stamina over the season

    2. Not someone i would go for cause i have dont need to worry about my rocks but…

      Witts?
      T/U YES
      T/D NO

      Lets see what others think….

      20

      3
  12. My defence has Hurley, Laird, Hibberd, Finlayson, Doedee, Murray, Murphy, Naughton. I like the look of Bonner.

    Thinking Naughton to Bonner

    6

    21
    1. If Naughton scores another 30-40 he only goes up about $5-10k in price. Usually you’d like your rookies to make you some kind of money. But if he’s scoring that much every week, he’ll stop rising in price after Rd.4, which isn’t good and not what you’d want from your first year players. Especially since he’s a key defender, a first year key defender at that, they don’t usually make you a hell ton of points.

      5

      0
        1. Should Naughton be able to score 60 each round he will rise in price by approximately $100,000 as at round nine. Bonner’s price rise will be in the area of $125,000 if he scores 80’s through to round 9.
Just got to decide whether you can run with Naughton as bench cover or have faith in Bonner on the field to average 85 – 90 from here to his bye round.

          6

          -1
          1. Well said. There’s a big difference in price rises between a $167k player and a $257k player. That’s nearly a $100k difference, which is effectively a 20-point difference to achieve the same price gains.

So, yes, the question is, which do you see as being more likely:
            – Naughton scoring 60’s, or
            – Bonner scoring 80’s

BUT, more importantly, that’s just to act as a break-even. It would definitely be a waste of a trade if this scenario were to occur, unless it meant that you would be getting Naughton off the field. Otherwise, if Naughton is already on your bench, then it would come down to the gap between Naughton and who you take off the field.

            6

            0
            1. Great thoughts.

One concern I have is can Naughton get 60? He seems to be struggling to score.

Another is after a poor start by the Dogs, can he keep his place in the team?

              3

              0
  13. Ellis out, no question, horrible start.
    T/U – Straight to Touhy
T/D – Down to Bonner to free up major cash

    4

    28
  14. I’m thinking Lambert and Naughton out, Bonner and a cheaper forward who’s doing better than Lambert, in.

I’m not sure who to pick as the one to bring in for Lambert though. There’s plenty of good choices like Curnow, Petracca, Acres, etc. Who would you guys think would be good around that $400k area?

I’m wanting to trade Naughton out for Bonner, because if he scores what he’s been scoring again this week, he’ll only go up about $5-10k. That’s not what I want out of a rookie defender. Bonner however is expected to rise around $50k in price, and then I make some cash.

    What are your thoughts?

    3

    5
    1. Wait. MEL are desperate to free Hibberd up to have greater impact. He should come good. Will be a cheaper pick-up to premium for those of us who don’t have him, in the coming weeks 😉

      5

      1
  15. everyone jumping off hibberd already. Got him in my side aswell but surely you give him a couple more rounds before trading

    20

    6
      1. Baz most people’s concern here are

        – Lever in team more intercept marks
        – no more kick ins for Hibbo due to Vince and Lewis playing back

        New role it seems.

        18

        0
  16. Have got Holman, T Kelly, Ryan, Finlayson, Murray, Doedee, Murphy, ZGL,
Waterman Fritsch, Brayshaw and Banfield so I don’t think I am missing any rookies??
Any Saints fans out there – With more games under his belt, will Armitage come good?

    TU:
    OUT- Armitage & Petracca
    IN – Coniglio & Christensen

    TD: Save trades

    3

    37
    1. Bit harsh on Petracca – what sort of scores were you expecting?

I think his average last year was just under 80 and he’s at 90 after two games this year, so a 10 point bump is good value. Might be a keeper at 90 average but if he increases by 3-4 points, then you’d think he’d be top-8 forward for the year (based on last year’s numbers, a 94 average would be top 8).

      6

  17. Giving Rayner the boot

    T/U- Fisher (93, 110, BE -48)
    T/D- Christensen (66, 101, BE -10)

Not keen on going down to a rookie like Stephenson because Rayner is my F4

    16

    8
    1. Christensen. He was definitely on people’s radars before the season started, whereas Fisher seems to have come out of the blue (unless I’m missing something).

      1

    1. Menegola. B/E of nearly 200 means he’s gonna leak a MASSIVE amount of cash (Rioli B/E only about 80).

      5

      0
    1. Always been good. Didn’t get much love before GC.

Realistically cannot keep this up when GC face tougher competition, so the real question is where will he settle and where do you see him at end of year.

I cannot see him exceeding 110 ppg long term which is the minimum for a dedicated midfielder in M7/M8.

Could be a wise pickup for bye management though.

      1

      0
    2. Awkward price – won’t make a ton of cash and won’t get near keeper status by year’s end. If you started with him, you’d be thrilled but I don’t think he’s worth a trade in at this point.

      2

  18. Not sure if I am trigger happy with possible corrective trade: Bont out – Oliver in.
    Bont out for Oliver?
TU: Do it – Oliver racking up the points & Bont not CD pinup boy anymore
TD: Keep Bont – he will be top 10 mid

    26

    21
  19. First trade of the year.
Looking to get L. Ryan in for English

    T/U: Yes
    T/D: No

    Thinking English will get dropped

    6

    26
      1. And Schache injured, not even playing VFL.

Tom Boyd doing atrocious in VFL too.

A lot of reasons to suspect English has more time in him yet.

And he scored 80 last week.

        7

        0
  20. Looking at maybe one trade…
    Thoughts?
Current mids, Mitchell, Kelly, Fyfe, Bont, Conigilio,
    TU -Bont out, Martin in.
TD -Relax, No need to trade.

    31

    11
  21. Is it worth trading out either Garlett or Venables to bring in Liam Ryan? Will make cash quicker but is it a waste of a trade?

    Thanks in advance

    TU: Yes do it
    TD: Save the trade

    5

    36
    1. If you don’t have danger and can afford him then straight to him.

If not Coniglio if you don’t have him.

      6

  22. I usually allow for 2 corrective trades to amend rookies, but haven’t really missed anyone this year, so they’re kind of burning a hole in my pocket.

Thinking of ditching Hibberd for Hurley, because the former looks to be playing a totally different position (lock down mid-sized defender; Lever is the main interceptor and Lewis is taking kick ins so his scoring potential looks stuffed), and the latter will at worst be the ~8th best defender on the year.

    7

    2
  23. Corrective trade – picked Dalhaus as a POD to the popular McLean but it’s cost me 77 points in 2 rounds (& cost me sct league). Watching the game on sunday McLean seemed to be way more in the play and Dalhaus didn’t look that great. After the round 3 price corrections, I may not be able to do the trade so need to do it this week.

    T/U – Dalhaus to McLean
    T/D – Don’t waste a trade
Comment – any other similar priced fwd (I have Devon smith)

    31

    4
  24. Looking at one trade, all my mid pricers have performed well so need for correction there.
Mids are currently Dusty, Kelly, Zerrett, Fyfe, Cripps.

    TU: Titch for Zerrett.
    TD: Save this trade.

    13

    15
  25. I’ll just be rage trading Hibberd i think.

Is anyone else looking at the Round 14 bye wondering how they’ll get 18 on the field, or is it just me?

    10

    4
    1. I’ve been looking at R14 since day one. My current sit-outs per each bye round are 2/9/10/9. Gonna try and keep it like that, but have to make some concessions….no Danger yet but have Dusty and Titch. Got $364k and sitting top 10%. Should be able to upgrade to two prems when cows are fattened. Then hoping for Lynch and Wingard as f5/6 after R10. Gotta plan long term !

      0

      0
    1. Eventually you’ll want to have both. Can’t really go wrong with those guys.

Dusty might be a great play initially, just to see how Dangers situation plays out with his hammy and new teammates. The additional coin might help with another upgrade in the meantime.

      10

      0
    2. Martin’s B/E is only about 85-90, so he’ll actually go UP in price after this week. Obviously, no idea who you’re trading out, but for now, go with Martin.

      4

      0
  26. Looking to trade out Naughton and Rayner. Only have 2.4k in the bank and my rookies are finlayson, Murray, doedee and Murphy.
Foward I have Stephenson, Ryan and Fritsh.
I can also bring in a mid through Garlett but feel I have all the value in the mods.
    Help anyone?

    1

    0
      1. Unfortunately I fall 3.2k short of that trade, I had a similar thought with waterman but with not quite enough cash, is Bonner really worth it?

        0

        4
  27. I need to trade Lambert.. via DPP i can get either

    TU: L.Ryan

    TD: M.O’connor

Feel free to comment opiniond and reasons on which

    6

    2
  28. T/U Mills to Christensen via Sicily DPP this week then O’Meara to Dangerfield in a couple of weeks time.

T/U Hold Mills he will come good and Christensen is a risk.

    7

    10
  29. Hibbo is my only premo concern but I’ll stick with him. I think he can be a top 5 defender for the year.. just.

Considering a correctional rooky trade of either Dom Barry, Brayshaw or Banfield OUT for Holman. Leaning towards Brayshaw as he is 198k. Good move?

    24

    1
    1. Holman is a must-have, so yes, definitely make the trade, although not particularly comfortable recommending any of those 3 to trade, as they’re all perfectly serviceable. Gun to head, Brayshaw (just).

      5

      0
      1. It’s just that he is underperforming and spending more time up forward in a struggling bulldogs side.
Titch is also in red hot form and Bont is the weakest link in my midfield

        1

        1
        1. Hold onto Bont. He’s proven and just scored a tonne on a struggling side. They’ll come good and he’ll start making 110+… which if you’ve traded him out will make you feel pretty crappy.

          3

          1
          1. There seem to be no players beating down the door for an AFL jumper at the dogs.

Something not going good over at the Scray.

            1

            0
  30. Would love the communities take… I have $339.1K in the bank, not enough to make a play for Danger, but have Dusty/Titch/JKelly/Fyfe/Cripps already.

I took a punt on Graham and Fox… not panning out. What is the better option at this point, as two trades will be made.

    T/u – Graham/Fox/Bank$$ for Oliver/Barry/$110K left
    T/d – Graham/Fox/Bank$$ for Coniglio/Taranto/$25K left

    Comments appreciated coaches.

    5

    12
    1. Personally, I think unless you believe Cogs can be a top 8 mid then it’s a waste of a trade. Yes he’ll make a bit of dough but Oliver is a keeper and potential top 5 mid (finished 5th last year)

      3

      0
          1. If you think Taranto can average 90 until the bye rounds then Coniglio/Taranto is worth the punt. You will probably lose 10 points per round with Oliver/Coniglio, however, if Taranto is covering for one of your rookies then he would be score at least 20 points more per round. On the money /trades front Coniglio will not lose money early rounds and may well end up being one of last upgrades. Taranto will rise around the 90,000 by round 9 before bottoming out.
The argument against is Oliver is a keeper, Barry would be permanent bench cover and should rise by $150,000 by round 10 if he can average 60 going forward thus hopefully no more trades and you get to keep $85,000 savings.

    1. Whoever you like. A bit hard to make a call based on the ENTIRE DEF & FWD lines. Maybe narrow it down a bit first, then people can comment on that.

      5

      0
    1. Right or wrong, I’d have though there was better bang for buck out there than Gibbs.

Your two initial mistakes show a favouritism that isn’t backed with supercoach scoring data.

I am concerned you are about to repeat that error

      4

      0
      1. Agreed. If you can afford Gibbs, then you could also afford players like Selwood, Parker, Cripps, etc.

        4

        0
        1. What’s wrong with Gibbs? Two 115+ scores so far, suited perfectly to Adelaide’s style of footy, kicks goals, averaged 113ppg in wins with Carlton and he’ll win far more games at Adelaide.
Also had 20 contested disposals after Matt Crouch went down so he can step up and average over 110 I feel

          5

          0
          1. He’s consistently been a 95-105 averaging player for the last 10 years, so it’s hard to see a 29-year-old taking another step up from his entire past history.

Happy to be proven wrong though.

  31. As i said earlier, rage trading Hibberd, but for who?

Its between two, and i’m pretty certain i know the way the vote on that would go, however……..

Its Simpson or Hurn, but me and Simpson have history, years of it, Ive left him out, he goes big, i’ve traded him in he goes small. I’ve started with him , he goes small rage traded him out he goes big, EVERY TIME, like not starting with him this year, it’s like i’m sticking pins in a voodoo doll every time i pick him.

So with that said, i’m going to ask a slightly different question than expected.

Can Hurn be a top 8/10 Defender for the rest of the year?

TU Yes, just go for it….
    TD No, stick with Hibberd

Comment – Go for Simpson, you wont mess it up for all of us he’ll really come good for this time, or any other option.

Current DEF Hurley, Laird, Hibberd, Doedee, Murray, Finlayson (Naughton, O’Conner)

    1

    14
    1. Totally out of my @$$ crystal ball predictions for top 10(ish) defenders:

As close to a guarantee as you’ll get: Laird / Hurley
      Probably: Simpson / Shaw / Yeo / McGovern / Howe / Ryan
50-50:Hurn / Lloyd / Savage / Sicily / Tuohy / Hibberd (if he goes back to last year’s role, or at least closer to it).

Hurn is going to see a lot of the pill during the Eagles rebuild, so if he can maintain his disposal efficiency (I think it was pushing 90% last game), then he’s an excellent chance. He’s one of the cheapest of that lot, so value-wise, it makes sense. Having said that, he’s been around for 10+ years and has only been in the 90’s a couple of seasons. So for me, it would be a strong maybe (that’s probably not very helpful, sorry).

        1. I agree with Daniel. But I do think Hibberd with be in the ‘probably’ bracket of he can regain his role. Big.
          If.

Hurn is a solid option but has a history of big one week (or two) not so much the next. Can go very large though.

For what is it worth, after watching rd1 I really liked the role Simpson has in the Carlton structure. History says he has the odd quiet game but generally consistent.

  32. Got all the right rookies but thinking of the following correctives:

    Hibberd – Lloyd/Savage
    Armitage – Cogs

    TU – do it
    TD – don’t do it

  33. No forced trades so looking to move on Big Sandi.
Does anyone know when Nic Nat is going to step up his playing time?
Or should I just go someone like Goldy, Mcevoy, Nank ect.?

  34. Looking to trade M. Crouch out.
    Currently mids are
Mitchell, J. Kelly, Fyfe, Merrett, ‘M. Crouch’
    Brayshaw, T. Kelly, Holman
    Banfield, L. Fogarty, Barry
I have $217k in the bank so can get danger but is it that simple?
    T/U Danger
    T/D Someone else

  35. Someone want to convince me to keep Beams?

Have 300k banked for the Danger fund, just not too sure he will actually drop in Prince, am I better off:

TU Trade up to Danger (100k bank)
TD Trade sideways to Parker (300k bank for Danger Upgrade later)

    1. I am going to punt against Dangerfield in the early rounds and play it round by round. His price will be down by $50,000 as of round 7 if his 3 round rolling average remains at 130. Geelong has an awkward draw over the next 5 weeks although probably does not effect his scoring. Worth the risk , however as soon as he starts pumping 140 pluses you have to jump on board.
I have to unload Crouch and my correction trade this week and will be moving to a Josh Kelly or similar who should be top 10 midfielder come seasons end.

Beams has had an interupted finish to his pre-season and will only lose $60,000 in the next two weeks before steadily increasing in price again (averaging 100 per game.) Ranked 27 of the midfielders last year and has always had injury concerns.

  36. So if everyone trades out rockliff he will go Massive right? That’s how super coach works doesn’t it.

    7

    0
    1. Yeah, once everyone trades him out, it lightens the weight on his shoulders and he goes up and up and up and … then crashes down massively in a flaming heap with another injury (can you tell I got burnt by him the year he had two LTIs?).

  37. Need some advice from the seasoned campaigners please.
    I have scored well 2354 rd 1 2304 rd2 but i have 2 underperformers.

    1. Well done but you probably do not want my advice.
Jeremy Howe – top 6 defender last year only 5% ownership , off to a good start, and Bonner, or Alex Pearce slow burner.

  38. Hibberd, Naughton and Armitage, and potentially Christensen are my biggest concerns.

At the moment, I am thinking that its Hibberd and one of Naughton and Armitage gone this week, leaning towards Naughton but could easily swing the other way.

As I already have Laird, I am thinking Simpson or Shaw, or even a Savage type but feel this could be a little risky given that I have Sicily already.
With Naughton, it becomes a little trickier with having the necessary rookies at this point, as well as Bonner.
And if it was to be Armitage, as much as I would want to get Parker or a simalar valued player, it simply couldn’t afford that type of player, so would either need a similar priced player or a downgrade which would begin the Danger fund.

  39. Not forced trades … but am thinking about these:

    Hibberd –> Simpson
    O’Keefe –> Bonner

(have Naughton too … but O’Keefe isn’t even playing)

    TU: do both
TD: just O’Keefe to Bonner and back Hibberd in

Anything else let me know …. cheers

  40. Out: Hibberd & Brayshaw (plus cash)
In: Oliver & Fisher (via Sicily DPP)

    Only $17,500 left afterwards.

Curious as to what you all think. I hate “correctives” but expect Hibberd to remain spud-like, and I feel both “Ins” are long term keepers, certainly Oliver is!

    2

    7
    1. Maybe Christensen instead of Fisher?

Or if you’re concerned about not having enough cash in the bank, then maybe a cheaper MID premium (Selwood, Cripps, Parker, etc.).

      1

  41. T/U: B.Ellis to Simpson.

    T/D: Save trade

Simple trade, and my only for the round. I think something that needs to be done.

  44. Looking to jump off Brandon Ellis as likely my only trade after Rd 2:
TU – Trade to another premium
TD – Trade to Bonner and bank cash for danger
    Comment – Hold onto trade

    2
  45. Trade 1: Marley williams out. Can afford any def (have laird but not hibbo/hurley). Want to try and keep extra $ for the inevitable Danger upgrade in a few rounds time.

T/U Simpson: the bloke just keeps churning out scores
T/D Heater: burnt alot last year but i had him in until the last minute as i saw his output going back up with injuries at the giants

    10

    1
    1. Trade 2. Same scenario with Danger fund as above but this time for Matt Crouch. (Have titch, martin, coggs and cripps already).

      T/U: Clayton Oliver
      T/D: Jellwood

  46. Merrett’s breakeven is 275. Thinking of trading him to cripps.
It would also free me a little bit of cash to trade lambert to Franklin

    T/U DO IT
    T/D DONT DO IT

    13

    1. Merrett is playing inside role this year judging by his contested possession count and zero marks. The bombers are hand balling more and the kick /mark game has now moved from being top 3 in the league to being ranked in the bottom half dozen. The disturbing stat is that their clearance, centre clearance and stoppages and inside 50s are rated exactly the same to that of 2017 averages – very poor and the rebounding from defensive 50 has dropped from 3rd in the league to 13th. Only a two game sample but it is going to take a few weeks to determine were the Bombers are at with the midfield group.

  47. Lambert will become Liam Ryan. Probably the only must have rookie I don’t have. He won’t score 100s every week, but will make quick cash with that 115 in the cycle for a few weeks. Lambo is plain and simply a failure. Must go.

Depending on whether Krooozer gets up, likely that Hibberd will become Simpson. Don’t like trading premiums willy nilly, but I feel he will may drop off this season with Lever, Lewis and Vince taking more points of him.

However if Krooozer doesn’t get up, welcome Goldy! Hibbo gets a reprieve.

  48. No trades done yet, but thinking about this one pretty hard: Have JOM at M6 and $144k in the bank (set aside for rookie corrections, which at this stage not needed). I can trade JOM to Coniglio and get a potential keeper on board at $452k, plus pick up some significant extra points early on.

TU: Good move – Coniglio is the real deal and will keep it up
    TD: Hold fire, unnecessary trade

  49. 2 corrective trades need to be made
TU dow to Murphy via dpp, Daniher to McLean
TD Merrett to dusty/titch, Daniher to Curnow

Worried that it’s now or never for dusty
    Thanks

  52. First trade of the season.

    Need to trade Crouch out….

Other Starting Mids: Dusty, Titch, J Kelly, Fyfe, Cripps, T Kelly, Holman

Feeling vulnerable about Hibberd too with what looks like a role change….

Other Starting Defs: Yeo, Laird, Doedee, Murray, Finlayson

TU – Crouch out, Oliver in
TD – Crouch out, Coniglio in – Hibberd out, Simpson in (this will free up maybe $200k, and I could potentially upgrade my forwards that are also looking shaky when I make some cash…)
Comment – Other options? Could drop Hibberd for someone like Bonner, drop Crouch for Dangerfield and have a boatload of cash left over

Current starting forwards: Buddy, Heeney, Billings, Fogarty, Fritsch, Ryan

    1

    6
  53. tu – cripps
    td – coniglio
getting coniglio in would mean i have 100k in the bank and can upgrade bonner to premo defender when necessary.
if i get cripps would have to downgrade a rookie before upgrading

  54. lambert to :

    tu Zach Jones
    td Tim Taranto

Jones gives me $446K cash and Taranto around $340k…(used as a bridge to Buddy and Danger a little later
Mids currently Titch, Dusty, Kelly, Oliver, Fyffe. Cogs, Kelly, Holmann (Banfiels, Garlett and Barry)

Fwd: heeny, walters, mclean, fritsch, zgl garlett, foggarty, de koning.

  56. Ok deep breaths.

After Ryder went down round 1 . I traded Mclean for Cox and Olango to English. Saving a Danger fund of 350k.
Last week , unsure of who the best R2 to take I traded Ryder to Westhoff. I had English as cover but that didn’t work out too well.
I only managed a 2229 this week and slipped to 300 in the SCT group.

I have all the desirable Rookies except Ryan. Is he a must have?

This week with leagues starting and the last week to qualify for the SCT cup. Its time to blow the Danger fund and get in 2 keepers for the year.

Its time for Rayner and Cox to make way.

I really want Mclean back and Goldie/ McEvoy But I’m about 30K short.

    So….

    T/U Goldie and Taranto +$82K

    T/D Nank and Mclean +$10K

Lets hope I can make the cut for the SCT cup

  58. Rayner set to lose some $$$ for a couple weeks I would imagine. Hasn’t passed the eye test either so I don’t have much confidence that he’ll beat his BE of 61 anytime soon. (Also, Brisbanes upcoming schedule doesn’t look too enticing…@Port, @ RICH, HOMEvsSuns, @Giants, eeesh!)

Standard rookie correction trade. Just want to know if:

T/U – Rayner OUT Liam Ryan in
T/D – Rayner out Dom Barry in (Via DPP)

Ryan can clearly go boom and is an exciting player, just as many of us thought in preseason. Even with JJK on the horizon you’d suspect that his JS is on the safe side. Barry’s stats overall have been plentiful. I like that he took his tackling to another level in Round 2 and picked up 7. Haven’t watched much of Port but the stats are telling me he is around the ball and can grab his fair share of it. A bit of a toss up between the two!

    Thanks for any advice!

    1. Thanks BOMBER, I do have Waterman. I should maybe mention my mid rookies are all okay with all the common ones at the moment and with Garlett as a DPP swing. Forward rookies besides Rayner are Waterman, Fritsch, and Giles-Langdon (who I will likely hold for now as a loop through his injury until some crisis occurs)

  60. Having doubts whether Bont and Hibberd have the situation and role respectively to finish top 8-10 in their position, only rookie correction worth contemplating is Naughton to Bonner which I don’t think is worth it long term.

    T/U – Bonner and Dangerfield + 115.9K
    T/D – Simpson and Cripps + 69.4K
