    1. First season player… what’s the idea behind banking money in a trade like this? Oliver seems like he’s going to be a stand out over Parker or Cripps, but more are suggesting to take the TD option. I’m asking because I have the same trade to make (Crouch) and have Oliver in for the time being. Worth noting, I already have Cripps.

      1. Neither would be a bad option, to be honest.
The reason you’d take the cheaper option is that you think they could average close enough to the higher-priced player that you could use the money elsewhere sooner (to upgrade a rookie or correct a mid-pricer) and to greater effect.

The thinking would be, I may lose 5 points per game by going with Parker or Cripps instead of Oliver, but I can use the 60k to get Christensen instead of Brayshaw (just as an example) and he’ll more than make up that 5 ppg.

        1. Hit post too soon…

The counter-argument is that if you are going with the cheaper option, you want to be reasonably certain that player will be a keeper for the year. In this case, Parker and Cripps both have a legitimate shot at being in or near top-10 mids for the year based on their current form. But there are several instances where that is not the case and if you are trading to someone that you know you will have to trade out again, tread carefully because you can burn through a lot of trades for not much in return.

      2. @Dan, always beneficial to have excess money to assist in future upgrades and other potential unforeseen circumstances. You generally don’t want to pay top dollar for premium’s, rather trade them in at a discounted price. (such as Merrett and Zorko in a few weeks)

Parker, Cripps, Coniglio all present value and are under-priced for their potential output and if you believe they can sustain a 105+ average from now to the end of the season, it is a good time to bring them in for an injured Crouch. Where as it’s unlikely someone like Oliver would increase much in price, if anything you should be able to pick him up cheaper throughout the season.

  1. Naughton to Liam Ryan vis dpp?
I have every other valuable rookie.

    T/U – worth a trade
    T/D – save the trade

    15

    30
  2. Zorko to dusty

T/D – do it. No rocky and no rich for now means he will get tagged out of games and ave 105

T/D – in zorko we trust.

    30

    30
    1. I’m holding him – had a 70 point second half as he figured out what he needed to do to shake the tag
Also, he was on 120 lining up for goal with 5 minutes left
Missed, gave away a 50m penalty, followed by another free kick at the next bounce and then was sent off for the rest of the game with the blood rule, and finishes on 105.
If he kicked that goal he could’ve finished around 140, he’s a stud, remember why you picked him

      2

      1
      1. Thanks Liam. It worries though that he will have to fight harder for points this year. I’m not sure he will ave 115 plus. I’ll reverse and think harder til Friday.

  3. Langon to Waterman seeing as Langdon is out for a Moth could even need neafl time to get match fit again. I Already have Olango as a perm loophole player

    26

    9
    1. i’m in the same situation. Be warned though – West Coast play sat night in r4, early Sat afternoon in R5, 7 and 8 – makes using Olango as a loophole a fair bit trickier for those weeks.

      1

      0
  4. 2nd Ruck Stef Martin. Happy with round 1 but tempted to trade given 2nd round score. So far Nic Nat given similar or better output for a lot less $.
Hold tight only one lean score so far or
Get rid of him before his price drops?

    8

    36
    1. 2nd round was against Gawn so a low score isn’t a surprise. He plays Port this week with 0 Ryder so I’m expecting him to pick up his form

      20

      4
    2. If you went with Stef Martin then it was a set and forget strategy. No need to panic trade him out……

      23

  5. want to get rid of hibberd and get another big mid.
    ive done hibberd to bonner
    tu – brayshaw to coniglio/cripps
    td – LDU to coniglio/cripps

    thoughts on these trades?

also have cole but waiting on a good def rookie to get them in – looking at o’shea if he can keep his spot

    10

    34
      1. Possibly the thumbs down are because people don’t like the trade strategy overall – seem like luxury trades that will be pined for towards the end of the season.

  6. Hi folks, I have about 200k in the bank.
Wondering if I should trade Naughton to Murphy and Brayshaw to (D. Smith,Taranto, Curnow) via Garlett dpp.

Naughtons foot skills are a bit dodgy. Looks to be playing just as an out and out defender. Trade now to generate a bit of cash, even though Murphys j.s. Isn’t great?

Brayshaw looks good but not sure he is gonna generate much cash.

    TU: save trades
    TD: trade em

    Cheers

    13
  7. Anyone have thoughts on Jarryn Geary. 2 100 plus games. Break even -15. Never been a high scorer consistently but he could be a good stepping stone. I would be trading crouch to cogs and naughton to geary. Will he make cash quicker than naughton?

    5

    22
    1. I was looking at Geary. It’d be a very ballsy move.

He played every game last year and didn’t break 100 once. He was a breakout contender a few years ago after a big JLT (or whatever it was called in the day) series and burnt a lot of coaches, myself included.

But looking at his numbers, they’re pretty poor, top score of 98. 9 games above 80 and that’s about it.

His best year was way back in 2013 where he nearly averaged 80.

      3

      1
      1. Yeah I’d steer clear.

He’s always been an elite runner but never maintains a high average.

Also at his age his best years are probably behind him.

  8. I am impressed with Dusty but nervous to go without Danger.

Up – Brayshaw to Dusty now
Dn – Brayshaw to Danger in two weeks?

    30

    9
    1. Why did you have THAT much cash available in the bank in the first place? Was it for Dangerfield?

Also, why 2 weeks for Dangerfield? If you can afford him now, why not now?

      4

      1
  9. I have Hibberd, Kruezer, Matt Crouch and Brandon Ellis. Who do I trade out? I was thinking trading out Ellis for Simpson and Matt Crouch for Dusty. Then keeping Kruezer if fit and Hibberd.

    32

    2
    1. Keep in mind Crouch won’t drop value this week so it may be worth working out the right balance of what will save you the most cash and net you the most points

I’d be dumping Hibberd and Ellis but it depends on who you already have. You could also get creative if you had any DPPs that can drop back to DEF

      1

      1
  10. thoughts on my trades appreciated
    hibberd to bonner
    brayshaw/LDU to cripps/coniglio
    tu – good
    td – bad

    18

    13
  11. How desperate should I be to get rid of Rayner? I’ve got all the good forward and midfield rookies, is a Barry, Waterman, ZGL worth a trade?
I’ve resigned to keep Naughton, at least for another week, with O’connor to come in if he fails again.

    6

    4
    1. His B/E is about 60, so in theory, he could actually LOSE money next week. Plus, there doesn’t seem to be any decent FWD rookie prospects for the following week (that have only played 1 game).

Have you got enough spare cash to upgrade him to Christensen? Would need about $65k, but he seems a decent option. Otherwise, maybe downgrade to Barry (will be serviceable and save you cash).

  12. Hello Fantasy Football Forecasters

    What do do with Dahlhaus!

T/U Pull the trigger and watch Dahlhaus win the Brownlow

T/D Don’t pull the trigger and be responsible for him not winning the Brownlow….sorry Luke.

    35

      1. Worried that Merrett will drop into that awkward 105 range. Had Riewoldt, Smith and Martin in the past who all dropped off mid-season following concussions (admittedly the were all KO’d, where’s Zerrett just had a micro-sleep).

        1

        1
        1. You’ve already copped his 17 and 95 (me too). Just plain bad luck. Chances are he will score 110+ from here. I’m holding. If he is averaging 100-105, he will be last to be upgraded!

          1

          1
  13. I need some help please.

Thumbs up – Hibberd and naughton to Shaw and bonner

    Thumbs down- hold trades.

    Cheers

    8

    22
  14. T/U – Sicily to Bonner
T/D – Hold Sicily and put Naughton on field for 1 week. (other benched defender is Coffield).

    28
  15. Usually at this point I’ve burned 2 trades in Rd 1 for corrections and look at 1 or 2 more now for a final correction or to jump on a player that is at the beginning of a breakout season that I missed at the gun.
This year, I managed to get every top rookie across all 3 major lines (except 1 mistake that I figure I’m happy to hold and wait).
My issue is whether to jump off a sinking ship and onto a breakout/undervalued premo.

The two I’d be looking at would be
    1. the Hibberd to Simmo trade. As many have stated, Hibberd seems to be playing a different role and may now lift to last years heights.
    Or
    2. Zorko to Coniglio.
Was never certain of Zorko but panic picked at the last minute. Not that I don’t think that he’ll be Towards the pointy end later in the year, but the extra cash to jump a rookie to Danger several weeks sooner would be nice, and this trade adds around 150k to the war chest.

    I’m pretty happy to pull the trigger on one, so;

    T/u Hibb to Simmo
    T/d Zork to Coniglio

    13

    16
    1. Either would be a good consideration, but you need to decide which is more important to you, who you’re bringing in, or who you’re trading out.

I’d keep Zorko over Hibberd (just), as Hibberd looks to have permanently changed, whereas Zorko has always been prone to the occasional shocker. Both are going to lose money anyway, but at least Zorko’s crap score was in R1 (only affecting 1 price cycle).

      3

      1
  16. T/U trade Hibberd to dsmith via swinging Sicily into def, creating cash to also go Bont to danger!

    T/D save the trades

    19

    4
    1. Hibberd to D. Smith seems like a sound trade, but Bont to Danger only if you don’t have any other issues to address.

      1

      1
      1. Lucky enough to have picked all the rookies so no trades needed there, concern with Bont have watched the bulldogs so far, don’t see him being a top 8 midfielder. And can afford actually afford danger now

        1

        1
  17. With Langdon out who should I trade to

    TU: Waterman
    TD: Garlett

    Leave a comment: Venables

    Already have Fritsch and Ryan

    11

    3
  18. Langdon for:

TU: Lachie Fogarty (via Garlett Dpp)
    TD: Venables

I don’t trust Waterman’s scoring or JS when JJK gets back.

    4

    11
  19. Naughton for Bonner (also have Sicily out this week)

TU: Hell yeah we don’t know if other cash cows will turn up in defence
    TD: Not worth it.

    3

    13
  20. Having doubts whether Bont and Hibberd have the situation and role respectively to finish top 8-10 in their position, only rookie correction worth contemplating is Naughton to Bonner which I don’t think is worth it long term.

    T/U – Bonner and Dangerfield + 115.9K
    T/D – Simpson and Cripps + 69.4K

    3

    15
  21. OUT C Byrne IN T Kelly via DPP
    OUT J O’Mera IN S Coniglio

    TU – Do it
    TD – Hold trades

Comment if I should only make the first trade.

    30

    1
  22. I have 100k in the bank, Crouch as the injury trade, with Rayner at F5 and Hibberd D2 as my main corrective concerns. Which is better?

    T/U Out: Crouch and Rayner
    In: Cripps and Taranto
    Bank: 8k

    T/D Out: Crouch and Hibberd
    In: Titch and Simpson
    Bank: 80k

    16

    6
    1. The Taranto pick makes me nervous. I’d rather you save $100k and get Christensen instead. I can’t see Taranto being a keeper, or making enough cash, whereas Christensen should score well enough to be an expensive cash-cow. Plus, you get to keep the $100k in reserve.

      4

      4
      1. Taranto is waltzing around without much cover, his co-mids are a handfull and getting all the focus, theres money and points in the big T this year!!

        1

        0
  23. Bring in Dusty for

T/U – Merrett (not a top 8 mid this year)
    T/D – O’Meara
    Comment – don’t waste a trade

    3

    21
  24. Going MCrouch to Titch, but need to downgrade a high-priced rookie to LRyan: Which should it be?

    T/U: LDU

    T/D: Brayshaw

    14

    2
    1. If you’re that squeezed for cash, maybe consider a more ‘value’ option (Selwood, Cripps, Parker, etc.).

      6

      1
  25. Hi all,

    This weeks trades:
Clark -> Li. Ryan (via Ja.Garlett DPP)

    AND
TU: Mic. Hibberd -> K. Simpson
    TD: Giles-Langdon -> Waterman

Thoughts community? Is Naughton to L. Murphy a better second trade even?

    3

    3
  26. Naughton -> Murphy and Giles-Langdon -> Ryan with $156k in the bank.

T/U – Do it son, ripper money making trades
    T/D – You’re a fool

    12

    3
  27. Team isn’t looking too bad, sucks to have Sicily out this week through suspension and Ryan put in a great performance last week so that hurts haha. First two rounds had okay had some nice rookie scores on my bench but we will move on.

My only trade I’m even considering is Merrett to Cognilio. I’m not for trading but this would be my one corrective trade. I’m against trading out my premium players but with the price drop plus price rise it could be a difference of 150k as well as I think Cognilio will score better with Scully out of the team which is even more of a factor to get him in. Thoughts?

    T/U Trade
    T/D Hold Merrett

    6

    12
  28. Gotta make at least one trade – Libba out, question is do I make two???

    TU – Libba to Coniglio

TD – Hibbert > Bonner & Libba to Danger

    11

    1
  29. Is Kade Simpson worth investing in? Or will he run out of juice like we all thought he would before the season started?

    1

    3
    1. The concern for me pre-season with Simpson wasn’t that he’d run out of juice (guy doesn’t seem to age), it was just about uncertainty over who would take over Docherty’s role. I was worried it would be one of the young guys (Weitering, Marchbank), which is why I wasn’t sure about Simpson. From the looks of it, he’s taken over the lion’s share of Doc’s role and should continue to score well.

      6

      1
      1. Simmo is also renowned as an obsessive student of the game. Studying structures and forward entries of the upcoming oppo for hours every week. Is it any surprise then, how often the ball lands on his chest?!?!

        2

        1
  30. Bringing in either Bonner or Fisher this week

I am leaning to fisher because of his more consistent scores 1st 2 rounds (93,110), compared to bonners 119,76. In terms of cash generation, knowing i can field fisher and hopefully avergae 90+ for a few weeks seems the better trade?

    TU Bonner
    TD Fisher

    4

    4
  31. Have to get rid of Cam Rayner..

T/U: Trade via dpp to Coniglio
T/D: Save money for Dangerfield in the next few weeks

    10

    1
  32. Don’t trust Hibberd in his new role, plan on DPPing Sicily and using a backline rookies score for a week.

    TU trade Hibberd -> Taranto
    TU trade Hibberd -> Curnow

    4

    4
  33. Slightly different situations , but I wonder how many people traded Fyfe last week and are trading Hibberd this week ?
I have both and hung on and will hang on to them.

    7

    1
  34. Hibberd to Simpson and Naughton to Bonner (tu)or hold Hibberd and still do naughton to bonner (td)?

    3

    5
  35. Have Will Brodie on my mid bench (already using Olango for loophole) should I trade him to Stephenson or wait to see if he gets named? Has been emergency both games now

    2

    2
  36. Need some thoughts on what to do with Rockliff, rolled the dice with him and after his first two performances he has to go. Debating what to do.
TU – Trade him this week for a premium mid (thinking cripps or selwood)
TD – Hold out on rocky for a couple more weeks and pick up dangerfield once his price inevitably goes down. (Current BE of 181)
    Thanks.

    15

    1
    1. Rocky may loose a whole lot of cash in the next few weeks and I don’t think Danger will drop much under $700K any time soon.

Cripps Parker and Sellwood are all great underpriced options.

If you want to hold back some cash Cogs looks the goods also.

      6

      1
  37. I’ve had Ablett minding Danger’s spot in the midfield for the first two weeks. I don’t need to make any forced trades this week, but should I bring in Danger now?

    T/U Do it.
    T/D Hold for now.

    Thanks coaches.

    1

    15
  38. Any coaches looking at either Hunter or McLean from the Doggies as the ball magnet replacement for Libba?
Both expected to rise in price and receive a role change now that Libba is on the shelf.

    T/U: Libba -> McLean
    T/D: Libba -> Hunter

    13

    1
  39. I have majority of the good rookies, Barry and Murphy being the only exceptions. I also have Hibberd who I’m reluctant to trade as i always burn through the 30 before finals time.
I do need to replace Crouch who I’m upgrading to either Dusty or Danger.
the guy im looking at moving on is Hunter Clark. Either for Dom Barry or Fischer via Garlett DPP. Fish then becomes my F5
thoughts on which way to go?

    2

    2
  40. Feeling nervous about Dahlhaus and considering a corrective premo trade to either McLean or Heeney. My other FWDs are Buddy, Billings, DSmith + rookies.

TU: Make the trade – Dalhaus is a dud this year
TD: Hold – he will turn it around

    20

    1
  41. This week Angus Brashaw makes way for finlayson. Think he is a must have rookie plus don’t know when Brashaw gonna play or if he will even be good. Also trading Dunkley out for Robbie Gray. Going a bit early on this one but got a feeling it might pay off. Have Corey Ellis and naughton bit of a problem. Figure Ellis could be loophole option if he gets dropped or just upgrade to better def later. Cheers

    3

    2
  42. Is naughton to bonner worth it? My team has had no injuries (other than ZGL) and only other corrective trade I am considering is Hibberd -> Simpson.

    TU: Naughton to Bonner
    TD: Save the trade

    0

    5
  43. Thankfully got all vital rookies and made no rage trades Rd 1. This week however feeling the need to jump ship on B Ellis probably to Simpson. My question is whether burn to a second trade on:

TU – Bont or Zorko to Coniglio for all the obvious upside there or alternately
    TD – G-Langdon to Ryan

One variable is I’m also sitting on Kreuzer and waiting on news on his injury. If he is out for two or more weeks which of the three above trades is the priority assuming I replace Kreuz with the first?

    0

    1
  44. With news that jack higgins will be named this week I think I’ll stick with Jack Graham for a couple more rounds at least as higgins could be a nice downgrade in 3 weeks time.
I was tossing up between hibberd and hurley as D2 all preseason but went with hibberd.
Without any other major concerns Im tempted to swap to hurley this week (I just dont trust shaw and simpson to keep up their scoring).
    T/u hibberd to hurley
    T/d back hibberd in

Comment: take a gamble on a breakout contendor and bank some cash, already have sicily and bonner so the choice is between savage and luke ryan

    1

    1
  45. I’ve got dahlhaus and Brandon Ellis both underperforming. Also have had to trade out Rocky this week so have 1 remaining trade.
Thinking of backing Brandon Ellis to perform eventually. Then either trade dahlhaus or ride with him too?

    0

  46. Need to trade out Crouch.

    Current midfield is:
Mitchell, J. Kelly, Fyfe, Merret, Crouch
    Brayshaw, T. Kelly, Holman
    Barry, L. Fogarty, Banfield

    T/U – Bring in Dusty
    T/D – Bring in Coniglio

    3

    1
  47. Any reason why Luke Ryan isn’t a common pick? Thinking of moving Hibberd on for him as he is $420,000 ish and Hibberd looks a shadow of his former self. Ryan has been playing that half back role at Freo and looks comfortable with a confident freo team and is also has an excellent kick to handball ratio. Am tossing up between him and Howe as a POD but think Ryan for his price is a better option.

  48. So I missed the first two weeks with this that and the other so now have some strong data to build a team and avoid the know traps. Who do people think should be first picked? I currently have the following team if you want to pull it apart and relive pimp my team after two rounds 🙂

B: Laird, Simpson, Hurn, Geary, Findlayson, Doedee (Murray Murphy)
M: Dusty,Titch,Oliver,Selwood,Cripps,Cogs, Taranto, Kelly (Banfield Barry Holman)
    R: Gawn NicNat (English)
F:Westhoff Lynch Hogan Fisher Marshall Ryan (Waterman Fritsch)

Can move anything so live out the what if I had picked that guy fantasy.

    Thanks for any comments
