  1. I’ve got all the rookies. After some advice.

Dusty and Heeney out Fyfe and Boak in?
    T/u: good
    T/d: not good

    Thanks.

    1. Dusty is a definate. Heeny might be a hold for now.? Will loose you cash this week but at F2 was selected as a keeper for my team. Swans have a few FWD available for selection this week. I will be waiting for team list to drop before making a decision. Heeny Ankle injury is my main concern, is not turning as sharply as last year.

  2. Although Collins played well this week, was round 1 a poor game or just a sign that Collins will be very up and down due to his role. I currently don’t have Scrimshaw and considering downgrading Collins for him.
    TU: Collins to Scrimshaw
    TD: Hold Collins

  3. Hurn —> Lloyd

    Or

    Heeney —> Worpel
    Balta —> Moore

T/U Yes, Lloyd will outscore Hurn over the season

T/ D Get the Worpedo and Moore in

    1. Outatime, I’m saving those trades – have both Heeney and Balta.

Heeney will most likely come good, especially with a couple forwards due to come back into the side this week (K Jack). If I’m wrong, it’s with the 40% of teams that kept him.

As for Balta, at least wait to see whether or not he’s named in this weeks side. Indications are that he played well in the 2’s over the weekend and there’s a spot down-back/up-front. Plus, Nankervis showed he could use the support in Ruck.

Trades are worth $$$ and are limited.

  4. Was looking at going Greene to Moore but to pocket some more cash should I just get rozee in?
    TU- rozee
    TD- moore

  5. Used up one trade (Dusty- Neale)
Another? I really like Kelly as a fwd.

    Trade Heeney for Kelly?

TU: Yes, Kelly certain top 6, huge ceiling.
TD: Wait and see, waste of a trade

    18

    36
  6. Heeney to Moore
    Gibbons to Neale

    TU: DO it now (YOLO)
TD: Sit tight (GIbbons/Heeney is worth the keep)

    1. If you are playing for overall pull the trigger and do it. If you only care about leagues then id hold tight and save the trades.

  7. I might seem crazy but its tempting

T/U – Hold Coniglio and Walsh
    T/D – Rocky and Sheed

I feel like this has to be the week I pull the trigger on rocky and sheed. Thoughts appreciated

  8. Hi Guys,

In a bit of a pickle, need to trade Mundy OUT.

    T/U: Kelly
    T/D: Boak

Trading in Boak will allow me to bring in J.Scrimshaw in Defense for N.Hind via Duursma DPP which will generate more cash.

    50

    6
    1. Do the Kelly trade. How much does that leave you with Hind?
      DON’T COMPROMISE on the keeper.
For Hind, if you can afford one of LDU, Butters, Atkins, Scott (or even Gibbons) in that order and don’t own one … Get em in!
      Good luck!

      4

      3
      1. Thanks allsaints,

You’re right, lock Kelly in for the rest of the year. I am also worried about Boak’s role once Wines returns. I am left with $143k with Hind’s price included. Already own Butters, Atkins, Scott and Gibbons unfortunately. Not enough cash for LDU.

        2

        0
        1. Hmmm. Is that enough for Scrimshaw? You might be a k or two short? People don’t seem to like Wilkie, but I do. Reckon he’ll be good for $130k min. which is what you need and I reckon his JS is pretty solid. He should improve every game and will go large from time to time. Decent cash-generating bench option in my opinion.
          Good luck

          3

          0
          1. 5K short of Scrimshaw, 🙁
I actually started with Wilkie as I liked his JS over Scrimshaw’s. Currently got him at D6 with Hore and Burgess on the bench, trying to loophole his scores where I can.
Might just go Mundy to Kelly this week and bank the trade.

            2

            0
        2. Otherwise, sometimes you get forced to bring someone in, like Sparrow (Ronke for me last year) that you don’t necessarily want, but can be a nice surprise. The alternative would be to just hold Hind for now and use him as a loophole (STK good for that for a while) to maximise your onfield MID points and wait for a decent one on the bubble.
That last option might just be the best, if like last week (for me anyway) would have made me 60+pts (that’s $30k!).

          2

          0
          1. I think I like the Loophole option for now. Thanks for the suggestions, having a trade sitting there this week may though mean a rash sideways trade on D.Martin…

            4

            1
            1. Wouldn’t consider that rash at this point. Tigers play an SC-unfriendly game as it is and are about to be severely tested with fixtures and in depth. Is he up for the challenge?!

Never know with him. He might just go, “fu3k this, it’s Dusty time!” Like some goddam superhero, or he may just say, “can’t be fu3ked, I’m already a hero!”

              What do people think?
TU time to step up for the Tigers
TD been there, done that, got the medals

              4

              13
  9. What to do with Ridley? Worrying/surprised he was dropped after round 1

    TU – If selected keep

    TD – Trade regardless

    29

    1
    1. Crazy talk. Both likely keepers OUT for a rookie and a stepping-stone! Worpel might be better than that, but that’s basically two trades, or 4 if neither are keepers. If you think the trades will make you over $520k (ideally $600k) then by all means do it. If not, I’d seriously think again!

      10

      0
      1. AS has nailed it again. This strategy means four trades. Im kinda hoping heeney is injured then he goes for Ldu and i can then get Lloyd for a ridley if he misses again.
        I reckon that makes sense.

        1

        0
  10. I got sucked into Mills. The good thing is I’ve nailed rookies and midprice players. The bad news is I’ve only got $4000.
TU Mills and Heeney > Scrimshaw and Llooooooyd + 200k
TD Mills and Heeney > Worpel/Newman and Whitfield
    Thoughts?

    4

    17
      1. I was leaning towards Worpel. Definite role and more likely to finish top 10 for position. Not ideal but I have no other way to get rid of Mills

        1

        1
  11. I hate myself for trading premos but Heeney is injured and Dusty is clearly carrying one considering he hasn’t laid a tackle?

TU: Heeney & Dusty out for T.Kelly & Bont
TD: Heeney out but Persist with Dusty.

    Any other comments appreciated.

    12

    4
    1. Alex A, you are wasting 2 trades as you are side trading. But if you have to, do it before their prices drop and make sure Kelly + Bont will be keepers, which I am confident they will be.
If you have to do only one trade, I’ll hang on to Heeney and trade Dusty out because he’ll be in freefall price wise and you can pick him up cheaper later if you have to. As few coaches have mentioned before, Heeney may be back in the middle if the Swans beef up the FWD line in which case, injury or not his score will be respectable. Good luck

      2

      0
  12. Thoughts on Heeney-Lloyd via DMoore and then Walsh-Miers to pay for it?

    TU – Yes, consider
TD – No, not worth it

Seems like Miers will make similar cash to Walsh and opportunity to grab Lloyd now is appealing.

    3

    19
  13. So the consensus is to HOLD Heeney?

T.U: Yes, will still finish among the best FWDs.
T.D: Nope, cut your losses and ship him off.

    31

    6
    1. Depends. If you’re punting him for another premo who will be top 6 in their position or a keeper, then yes. If not, then no. I’m going Heeney to Lllloooyyyddd straight swap. Happy with that.

      1

      1
  14. Toby confirmed out again via GWS presser.
That being the case. Greene & Mills need to go.
Moore will come in. But tossing up the 2nd option.

    TU – T Kelly
    TD – Crisp

  15. I’ve got Zorko avg 94 (far from awful), but won’t be making any trades this week provided Hore is named.

TU trade and pocket some $$$. Looking at Rocky, Libba, Sheed or LDU

Need the cash to upgrade my def next week.

  18. Not sure where to put this fun little tid bit,but for some reason it occurred to me and was wondering if anyone else has a similar example?
I’ve had lachie Neale in my team for 5 years straight, never once traded him always first 3 picked. Asides from having the GOAT anyone else have this occurrence?

  19. McGrath flop but won’t lose any money. Heeney on the other hand. Am thinking keeping Mc Grath for now turning heeney into kelly and gibbons into ldu. Want to generate some cash so I can bring in Oliver Cripps Mc Crae as soon as possible. Worst case scenario if / when heeney comes good get him back cheaper and I’ve wasted two trades.
    FULL TEAM.
Lloyd Williams Newman mcgrath smith duursma Collins Clark
Fyfe Sloane b. Crouch rocky Libya Walsh butters cons table Scott Atkins gibbons.
    Grundy gawn fort

    1. Have McGrath as well, break even of 78 I think so not losing much by keeping around for now. May even have a decent score sooner or later!

      2

      0
    2. Don’t see Gibbons to LDU being worthwhile unless you reckon Gibbons will be dropped soon.

Costs you a trade and $90k now.
      Costs you another trade later.

Trades are roughly valued at $150k.

So two trades and $90k out of your savings, LDU needs to make almost $400k in cash growth more than Gibbons does for you to break even. Can’t see it happening.

Of course, if Gibbons gets dropped after making $30k, and LDU goes on to make $200k, it’s probably still a “win”. Just remember though., more rookies will pop up along the way.

    3. Don’t see Gibbons to LDU being worthwhile unless you reckon Gibbons will be dropped soon.

Costs you a trade and $90k now.
      Costs you another trade later.
Vs the one trade to downgrade Gibbons later.

Trades are roughly valued at $150k.

So an extra trade and $90k out of your savings, LDU needs to make almost $250k in cash growth more than Gibbons does for you to break even. Not juat $250k growth, $250k more than Gibbons does. Can’t see it happening.

    1. Why would you even consider that? Reverse their first two Rd scores and you’d probably be considering the opposite.
      SAVE THE TRADE!

  20. Have one trade earmarked to get M.Parker in and I want to use the second trade on dusty, just doesn’t look hungry and with Riewoldt out for a month he may spend even more time forward. Three players are being considered (one on each line due to dpp swings). Who is the best option of the three?

    TU: Lloyd
    TD: T.Kelly
    Comment: Rocky

  22. I feel like Devon smith wont be a top 6 forward this year, feel like using 1 trade to do a direct premo swap;

TU: D Smith to Robbie Gray
    TD: D Smith to Gunston

Comment for Worpel, Westhoff or others ..

    Thank you for help

  23. Made the mistake of not starting Constable and have no dpp in my mids to get him in so Dusty (or Gibbons but he will still make cash) have to make way.
Using the funds to go one of Hore, Balta to Moore depending on who is named.

Means I can’t go Rocky but I think I’m okay with that

    TU: Good moves
TD: There must be something better

  24. This isn’t really a trade question but everyone is considering trading Dusty this week who scored a 110 and then was on pace for 100+ against Collingwood until the Greenwood effect occurred. Cogs who is more expensive went 154 then 52 when tagged in a similar situation but no one is considering trading Cogs out. Both got tagged in round 2, 30 points separates the two as well as Cogs being 25k more expensive. I’m a Martin owner and don’t have Cogs but just food for thought that everyone wants to jump ship on Martin and yet Cogs is going to drop more money. Cogs is also going to have to deal with Kelly and Ward coming back could help or hinder his scoring. Thoughts?

    9

    0
    1. If I had Martin or Cogs (I don’t), but the same as Heeney (who I do own), I wouldn’t be trading either. I’d be disappointed yes, but we picked all these players for a reason.

I had Martin all last year and while he was hugely underwhelming and lost me $140k in value, he saved me a trade. And believe me when it came to the last few rounds with no trades left, I was very grateful to have him at M8. I brought Cogs in early when I could and while frustrating (he goes missing for quarters at a time and missed one game through concussion) was overall excellent, and I traded an injured Buddy out for Heeney who was good (aside from the headknock effecting his output).

Martin is a gun, he was underpriced to start this year with and certainly won’t lose as much as last year. At worst he is an M8/9 for the year. And he plays EVERY week.
Coniglio and Heeney are both young and on the upward side of the good curve. I was so tempted to start Cogs and think, overall, he’ll improve this year. I feel the same about Heeney. I hope the ‘000s who trade him out last week and this, live to regret it, and waste another trade to get him back in!

Heeney and Cogs have had massive pre-seasons. Heeney unfortunately got injured in JLT2 (extent still unknown, but if he’s attempting pack marks it can’t be too serious), and Cogs (WCE (a)) has likely just had his hardest game of the season. I’m expecting him to run wild. I want him.

To be chasing Rockliff, Newman and the like seems crazy to me. They’ve already likely had their best game for the year.

Of the ones I don’t have (and I will not compromise to get them), barring injury, I’d like:
      Lloyd, Macrae and Kelly

Shouldn’t cost me more than 7 trades and means I’ll have BSmith at D5, Libba at M7, DMoore at F5, approaching the byes with 23 trades left! And a Grawndy RUC set-up.

Of course it never works out that way, but ditching proven premos for players who have already over-delivered is asking for trouble in my humble opinion.

The only questions I keep asking myself (and the answers change every week), is who do I want to bring in that is:
      I. Early in the season gonna maximise cash generation, and as quickly as possible, so I
II. can afford one of those treasured keepers.

The rest, will manifest itself over the course. It’s a long and hard one remember.

Short version: back your decisions! It’ll all work out in the end 😉

I have had an average start in terms of points and position, but the only trades I’ll be making, if I’m forced, are Hore and Ridley, to the next best bargains I haven’t got.

      15

      1. Hey allsaints , I have cogs, dusty, heeney and dunks, have been thinking hard all week and I keep coming back to no sideways trading. Also have ridley , if he is not picked it will be either moore, scrimshaw or rozee.
Also had an ave start to season, but no panic, just going to build up bank and get in my chosen upgrades asap.

        3

        0
      2. At AllSaints, thanks for explaining my point even more. I totally agree, Martin before the tag looked bloody good and then Greenwood picked up the tag even more. He was on 47 points halfway through the 2nd. Greenwood is a bloody good tagger and unfortunately like what happened Cogs taggers happen, it sucks but they happen.

Dusty might not be the value we all thought two rounds ago but as you suggested Dusty M8/9 loophole come round 23 is not a terrible situation and you can fill the rest of your Mids as they come throughout the year.

        5

        0
        1. Hey guys, i like your thoughts but Martin looked horrendous in game 1, i couldn’t believe he got to 109. He was slow, couldn’t hit a target, didn’t lay a tackle, played too much up forward and got caught holding the ball 3 times. He also didn’t score that well in JLT and got destroyed by a tagger in round 2. He is always going to be first to get the tag, and now with tigers injuries he’s going to play even more up forward.
Everyone that picked him was backing him to average around 115, and restore a little bit of his 2017 form, it looks clear that he is going the other direction and will never be the point scoring machine he was that year.
Yes he’s going to score you the occasional big score, and yes he’s a great player, but if you want to go deep in this competition you have to make the big calls early. Most people haven’t used any trades yet, and if there’s a time to use 2 trades it’s this week.
Worpel, Kelly, Rocky, Boak and Whitfield are all players i am very confident will average the same/higher than Dusty this season, they are all a lot cheaper or have the bonus of not being midfielders.
I’ll be going Dusty out to LDU and Hore out to Worpel (via DPP from Darcy Moore).
Makes my structure perfect with only 2 rookie Defs and Fwds on the field and Cousins, Walsh and LDU in the guts. Also leaves me 100k in the bank, so before round 5 i’ll do a downgrade upgrade to have another premium in (likely Kelly or Whitfield)

          2

          0
  25. Trade Out: Toby Greene and Chayce Jones
Trade In: Matt Parker and Tom Rockliff

This leaves me with 28 trades. I have all other relevant rookies and am relatively happy with my side (hoping Heeney turns it around over the next couple weeks).

    T/u Good move
    T/d Lost your mind

    11

    3
    1. Greene to Parker yes. I’d hold Jones, or go LDU and pocket the cash for a week or two. LDU may end up being an M9 and the cash will allow you to turn a rookie/midpricer into a fair dinkum premo v soon. Trade saved? Tick. Cash generated? Tick. Premos per trade? Tick.

Good luck whatever you decide. 😉

      2

      1
      1. Thanks AS 🙂

Yeah, I was pretty certain about Greene to Parker.

If Chayce isn’t named in the Thursday game, I’m probably going to pull the trigger. But, if he is, I’ll go back and forth on it up until game-time. LDU is an interesting choice… I’ll be chewing on that for a little while.

        Cheers.

  26. Only corrective trade I’m thinking about this week is Heeny and Hore, but not sure if its worth. Heres what I can do.

    T/U
    Hore -> miers
    Heeny -> Lloyd

    T/D
Hold onto trades for another week

    2

    8
    1. I think the reasons you’re getting thumbs down are:
      1. with Day out Hore may well be recalled this week,
      2. Heeney is a keeper and will only improve IMHO (you started him, and so did I!), and
      3. Lloyd only needs one <110 game to be cheaper soon. Under 100 and you’re laughing!

It’s a long season. Be patient.

PS I rage traded those exact moves on Sunday night. And it felt good. But then I thought about how I did the same thing last year and how I subsequently had a solitary trade left as a result come Rd16. I then had to bench an injured Sicily who I knew wouldn’t be back and swallow a missed 60pts/week and so it spiralled. Got lucky and only fell from 300+ overall to 2000th.

PPS Keep Heeney, even if he only ends up at F6/7. You’ll be grateful for the trade(s) it saves you.

      1. already have burgess.. swinging moore fwd to take say scrimshaw in the backline will put burgess on the same line as moore .

My rooks in the fwd line are good but need scrim or rozzee down back to complete my rooks and warchest

        1

        1
        1. Don’t worry about the DPP this week. I had Sicily and TMac on the same line a lot last year, but when it mattered (post-byes) I made sure I could make it work. But they were keepers whereas Moore, Rozee and Burgess are likely not. Don’t let it influence your decision(s). And the right decision for rookies is PURELY CASH CENERATION and nothing else.
DPP might come in handy with rookies when it come to getting the best cash-generator in but rarely if ever to swing players around. They’ll all be gone in a few weeks anyway, you’d hope.

Hope that helps, and good luck!

  29. Guys need some advice, happy with my team and happy to HOLD dusty and heeney

Only considering a straight swap BALTA to M. PARKER to get the cash flowing (I know balta is in line for a recall)

    TU- GOOD PLAY
    TD- WASTE OF A TRADE

    I have 30 trades left

    21

    1. No. Hurn is averaging 99 for the year. Historically, that would put him in the top 6 defenders if he maintains that for the year (for all except one year in the past 5, where he would be 7th).

      4

      3
  30. Apologies for the incoming word vomit (especially since I will likely not trade in the end).

My heart says I’m playing for overall, my head says I’m playing for my cash league.

    Main players:

    Outs:

Heeney – 98 avgs over the last 2 seasons and he was immense in that last quarter against the Dogs Rd1. Can not see how he isn’t a top 10 forward still, let alone pushing top 3. But with his current injury it’s a worry.

Dunkley – yes he has the role, but 18 & 20 disposals in the first 2 games tells me 1. Last year was just a a huge uptick in form and not his norm. & 2. Bonts & Libba are just that little bit better at footy and are taking his possessions away. Could be this years Billings/could still be an easy 100 avg.

Greene – I actually do not want to lose him. Yes I know he’s likely only to have played 1 of the first 3 rounds.. but I just think he’s a gun. Picked him instead of Brodie Smith at the start of the year and not quite ready to give up on him.

    Ins:

Rockliff – piggy pig pig. Brother was at the game last week and you couldn’t help but notice him. He’s back. Yes the 2nd half tag is a worry, yes injuries scare me, yes 2 seasons of poor form don’t fill me with confidence, yes I do need to consider the Wines impact. Ugh.

Moore – could go Miers/Petrucelle instead but great JS and seemingly really good scoring potential. Will likely go up just as much while scoring more.

    (See below for trades.)

    1

    1
    1. FWIW – i went Greene to Moore last week. Risk i felt I had to take based on my team structure and being unaware of the extent of his injury at the time (and yes I have Heeney but no Rockpig or Dunkley).

  31. have greene, but no $ to trade up to anyone decent. also have dusty.
    options are-
    1. trade greene > rozee and dusty to fyfe (or keep dusty + 138k)
    2. trade greene to t.kelly and dusty to rocky
option 3 is keep dusty, he’s only had one bad score and give greene another week and play setterfield this week. pretty confused!
    T/U option 1
    T/D option 2

  32. Thinking of trading Collins for Moore. Regret not starting with both but at this stage I can’t afford both so it’s one or the other.
    T/U- Trade Collins>Moore
    T/D- Keep Collins

  33. 30 trades left….

Current mids: Cripps, Oliver, Cogs, Yeo, M.crouch, Walsh, Constable, Scott/Setterfield (Atkins, Gibbons)

Yeo is on the table for either…

    TU: Neale with 20k leftover
    TD: Sloane with 90k leftover

Can afford Fyfe, but would leave me with no funds

    14

    2
    1. IMO you picked yeo to be a keeper no? Then only trade him for another which is obviously what you’re doing but having the option to pick Fyfe out of those two is surely the best bet? Regardless of having no funds leftover.

      2

  34. With all this talk about trading Heeney – i think the key question here is:

Who do you see as being the top 6 FWDs for 2019??

Would be interested to know everyone’s thoughts…

    2

    0
    1. Great question & this is what I don’t think people have really thought through.

Heeney yes has started poorly BUT say he pumps out 3 110+ games from round 6-9 are you going to trade him back in. Heeney IMO will be a TOP 6 forward even with this start.

I think that the top 6 forwards are too hard to predict yet the ones I feel confident on are Danger, Kelly & Heeney, then Dunkley, Boak, Worpel ext

      3

      1
    2. I’m going heeny to Lloyd. Who is destined to be number 1 defender, maby top ten overall. For me this trade just makes sense. Trading a questionable for a basically guaranteed.
I wouldn’t speculate another fwd over heeney and if I started Lloyd I’d hold heeney. But he’s going to post a 150+ soon, ontop of his 120 average. Heeny will never reach those numbers. If I have to get heeny back in later on this trade is still worth it.

  35. T/U Greene > Drew
    T/D Hold Greene
    Comment any other ideas
30 trades left, 3k in the bank, forward line is danger, heeney, kelly, greene, moore, setterfield, parker, petruccelle..

    13

    1
    1. I think that this makes sense Greene IMO won’t play more than 12-14 games he may score a 130 one week but not play due to soreness the next.

Too risky to keep especially after being rested in Round 2!!

  36. Is D. Moore a must have? currently have Scrimshaw as D4 and Setterfield as F4. Running a guns and rookies strategy.

    1

    9
  37. The punt on Greene isn’t working out the way I’d hoped, feel like he has to go. Don’t have much funds so:

TU: Dusty to Rockliff, Greene to Worpel/Dahlhaus $130k bank.
TD: Greene to Parker (the only rookie I’ve really missed) and field 1 extra rookie onfield.

    4

    15
  38. Have two non playing rookies atm in balta and hore, if both not nammed should i go:
    T/U: Balta to miers
T/D: Hore to miers (Via moore dpp)
Comment to keep two donuts and keep all 30 trades for round 3

    6

  39. Thoughts on the following pair of corrective trades:
    – Heeney –> Worpel
    – Hore –> Collins (if Hore is not named this week)

    1

    8
  40. I know saving trades is the aim of the game, but I think early cash generation is probably more vital.

    T/U: D Martin –> Davies-Uniacke & Balta –> D Moore (250k in bank)

    T/D: D Martin –> D Moore (via Duursma) & Balta –> B Smith (via D Moore)

    Comment: Hold fire

  41. Hey guys, my main aim this week is to ditch Mundy and get Parker for the $ gen, but cant’ decide the best way to do it?

TU: Mundy and Collins OUT, Parker and Lloyd IN
TD: Mundy and Balta OUT, Parker and TKelly IN

    Thanks

  42. I’m really torn, I really don’t want to trade out Dusty but in order to get Constable I need to do two trades. Only 5.5k in the bank. Dusty is the only issue I have in my team.

    TU
    Dusty —> Sloane
    Gibbons —> Constable
    TD
    Hold trades

    2

    11
    1. Dusty straight to Constable then upgrade elsewhere or save $$, hard to say without seeing your team

      2

      0
      1. DEF
        L.Whitfield Z.Williams B.Smith (C.Burgess)
        J.Scrimshaw J.Clark X.Duursma (M.Hore)
        MID
        P.Cripps N.Fyfe D.Martin (B.Scott)
        M.Crouch A.Brayshaw B.Crouch (T.Atkins)
        T.Liberatore S.Walsh (M.Gibbons)
        RUC
        B.Grundy M.Gawn (P.Bines)
        FWD
        P.Dangerfield I.Heeney J.Billings (J.Petruccelle)
        D.Moore W.Setterfield W.Drew (M.Parker)

I don’t really have anywhere else I’d want to upgrade or enough to burn a trade anyway. Nabbed all the rookies I needed other than Constable.

  43. Billings 81 and 84 or something over the first 2 games, expected more, wondering if I should trade him to worpel

    TU: trade to worpel
    TD: hold will come good

    3

    12
    1. TU:
      T. Kelly/Worpel in
      Menegola/Greene out
      28 trades left
Solidifies 2 likely top 8 fwds alongside danger and heeney, but trades sideways

      T/D:
      Rozee in
      Greene out
170k in the bank/29 trades left
Will have to make another trade to upgrade Rozee, but I save a trade and based on Rozees form he has JS and he’s likely to finish around 300k-350k imo.

    2. This is a game of luck and inches….was tossing up Billings or Gresham for f4…went Gresham. In 1% of teams.
Makes up for one stupid mistake….my last pre rd 1 change after team selections should have been done before the round started !!

  44. Missed the boat on Constable. Seems to be a must have rookie cow. Worth punting Dusty for him as a corrective trade? Bank the ~$440k to jump on some fallen premiums next week?

Other trade-out options would be rookies Atkins, Gibbons, Scott, Walsh or Butters and I dont think I’d like to trade those guys. Nil DPP swaps available either.

    Hmmmmm…

    3

    2
    1. In a similar boat with Yeo insteas of dusty and 5 solid rookies not named constable not warranting being traded out. Would only trade dusty (or underperforming mid) to constable if upgrading a dud rookie on another line to a premo.

  45. Thoughts on my team guys
Lloyd Williams Smith Moore Clarke Duursma Collins Hore
Macrae Cripps Fyfe Neale Coniglio Walsh Butters Constable Scott Atkins Gibbons
    Grundy Gawn Bines
Dangerfield Heeney Dunkley Setterfield Drew Parker Burgess Pettruccelle
Concerns are Heeney Dunkley and maybe Coniglio
Probably no trades but thinking very seriously Heeney to Kelly

    2
  46. Radical proposal. Two premiums out, replaced by 1 rookie and 1 almost rookie.

    Mundy and Heeney OUT
    Moore and Parker IN

T/U: Do it Captain – short term pain, long term gain
T/D: Now we know why they call you Oblivious

IF I do this, whoever plays me this week and loses needs to give it away.

    6

    8
    1. Maybe 1 of those… Mundy OUT for either:
Moore in FWD if you have Burgess in DEF (or other FWD/DEF)
or Parker if you’re not happy with your rookies.
Heeney will come good. its round 3

      2

      1
      1. I actually have Burgess FWD, and no Moore at all. I think your steadying hand has held me back from the hasty trade on Heeney (though that ankle worries me, I can see him getting better). I may pass on Moore altogether and do Mundy for Kelly and possibly Putraccelle straight for Parker. That leaves me carrying Heeney and Dusty through about $50k drops each (if that is all), until they can turn it around. Its not awful. Thanks for the advice.

        0

        0
    2. Definitely radical but I there is one reason I would caution against it… how many keepers will you have if you make those trades? I’m not saying Mundy will be top 6-8 forward (and Heeney is no guarantee either) but you will definitely have to use additional trades for Moore and Parker. Most likely though, you started counting those two as keepers and you probably have 12 keepers in total.

Think about it like this – you have 30 trades; leave 5-6 for injuries, plus 2-4 for corrective trades (between the two, most years that ends up being 8-9 trades). Now you have 21-22 trades for upgrades and if you have to do more than 11 upgrades, you’ll run out of trades (either for upgrades or injuries / resting).

      1

      0
      1. Thanks – I took the compromise and dropped Mundy and Putricelle for Kelly and Parker. I have a strong feeling that Mundy will improve from here (he almost has to) but I think Kelly will have him by a couple of hundred points by years end, and that’s where the money is. Great advice about keeping awareness of the number of trades. I have either 12 or 13 keepers still, depending how Z Williams or B Smith go – if either keep picking up, they will be a late season luxury trade, or a keeper. Not dependent on them though, since you saved me a trade from my radical nuclear option.

        0

        0
        1. I like that option better and I think one of Williams / Smith could get up to top-6 by end of year (they would have been in previous years but with the kick-in rule change, I think we’re seeing more defenders with 100+ averages than in previous years).

          0

          0
  47. Hey guys.
    TU – Franklin to T.Kelly
TD – Hold Franklin as Sydney are playing Carlton this week

    6

    5
    1. I was at the Bulldogs v Swans game – he wasn’t right, but with Buddy, I think a little is a lot. By that I mean, a half step off the pace seems like 2 steps for almost any other player, and a slight improvement in his game can bring you huge points. He was on and off the field a lot in that game – or that’s how it seemed. One of the stats guys could probably back this up, or shoot me down.

I made some horrendous mistakes myself so far this season (yes, already), so my judgement is suspect, but I think Kelly is going to average more and also actually score more total points than Buddy.

  48. So this is what I am thinking ..

    Greene -> rozee
    Heeney -> Lloyd

Will have a kitty of 120k so pretty healthy
    Yay or nay?

  49. If heeny puts up another stinker will most people trade him then?
    Or just ride it out?

    2

    1
    1. you have to trade this week if your thinking about it don’t wait for him to bleed cash after he puts up another 80 odd… Heeney may lose 35k and your trade targets kelly, worpel, dahl etc may all make 20-30k…

Heeney will bounce back big when he gets those midfield minutes just a question of when is that happening…

      2

  50. Simpson to be traded…..
T/U: Lloyd (puts up numbers like a mid)

    TU stay with these 2
TD trade for worpel and moore

Thinking either Fyfe or Neale, and either boak or Worpel

Crazy part of me wants to do Rocky and Worpel and bank more than $300k… That is crazy right

  53. Mostly happy with my team except Mills and Yeo so far.

    T/U – Yeo to Llyod
    T/D – save the trade.

Currently running “Keepers” to D3, M6, R2 and F3, with Moore swinging between D4/F4.

    3

  55. Off to my worst start in years
    Ranked 56k
Have all the right rookies just the wrong ones on field.
Goldy , Heeney and Mills well down also.
    Thinking
T/u conservative Mills to Clark( only rookie missed ) start building bank
T/d Heeney to Rocky / Mills to Lloyd leaves $700 in bank.

    11
  56. Alright so Heeney > Worpel is a lock for me. The cash that Worps will generate plus his scoring potential from mid minutes with no Titch shouldn’t be overlooked, plus the kid is a gun and I bank 130k.

My actual dilemma is whether to swap out a slow burner like Gibbons for LDU who will make more money quicker than Gibbons and score well? FOMO kicking in..

    T/U – get LDU
    T/D – save the trade

(Other than injuries there aren’t any foresseable changes I will need to make anytime soon)

    3

    3
  57. Have worked out options for who to drop, but who to bring in ??

LDU forecast price gain is almost the difference between the two current prices.

  58. My trade for Mills:

TU: Rocky (DPP Duursma into Def)
    TD: B Smith

TU only works because I am playing Duursma on field in my midfield already.

    5

    2
  59. Another one for me.

If I’m going to trade out Heeney:

TU: Lloyd (DPP Moore to FWD)
    TD: T Kelly

The reason Id consider Lloyd is to basically bring an extra premo into my defence. But thats about it. Cheers.

  60. Hi all picked up T. Lynch just before lockout in round one at F3 have Greene in F4 going to hold greene but I’d like to move lynch along

    TU for Worpel
    TD for Dahlhaus

Can get T. Kelly but leaves me with no cash and thoughts on him getting a tag

    Cheers Coaches

  61. Similar to most people, very undecided with Heeney. My first time playing so I’ve never experienced trade regrets….

    Thinking of:
    Heeney > Parker
    Ridley > Lloyd

Gets me about $40k more in bank too. Thoughts?

    4

    2
  62. Hey all.

I’m not one to sideways trade but everything I’ve read is very 50/50: Heeney won’t return to form for a long while, or just hold on as he could still end up being a top 6 fwd by seasons end.
I also have Toby Greene so yeh, bad choices.

With that in mind, what are your thoughts on the below:

T/U: Keep Heeney. T. Greene to Parker. Upgrade def. M. Hore to Lloyd
T/D: Trade Heeney for T. Kelly. Still Upgrade def. M. Hore to Whitfield
    * I have cash for both scenarios.

    Thanks.

  63. Was pretty content going into R3 with 30 trades in the pocket but of late thought;

    Billings > Moore
    Dusty > Macrae

Feel like if I’m going to trade dusty it’s only for this man, plus start of a nice schedule. Have all the other necessary rookies good to go. Thoughts?

    6

    3
  64. I have Mills and Heeney plus to make things worse, I’m a swans supporter so hate having to drop them!

Going to go against the crowd here and bring in Daniel Rich and Worpal – leaves me about $150k for future trades.

Am sure this post will get a whole bunch of TDs but longer term I feel I’ll have cash/trades to bring in another premo Def and Fwd plus I get to bank $$$ on Rich and Worpal immediately.

    Wish me luck!!!

    1. In order to reduce the mockery / “what a terrible coach you are” comments, here is a bit of a prelude / backstory to my trade question… I put together a team around JTL1-2 and left it as I was thinking about not playing SC this year. I looked it up after R1 and found that the team I put together was closer to complete than I remembered (but nowhere near where it would have been if I had kept up with JTL series / R1 teams). I (obviously) did not score well in R1 and will be playing catch-up all season. Here is my current team (2 trades to bring Scott and Drew in, and I have 76k in the bank) (* indicates non-playing rookie):

      DEF – Laird / Sicily / Whitfield / Duursma / Rozee / Wilkie // Collins / Quaynor*
      MID – Cripps / Macrae / Neale / Yeo / A Miles / Walsh / Scott / Constable // Gibbons / Hind* / Hayes*
      RUC – Grundy / Gawn // Z Clarke
      FWD – Dangerfield / Heeney / R Lobb / Setterfield / Drew / Petruccelle // Burgess / Cavarra*

Miles and Lobb were “placeholders” for mid-pricers that I thought might break out based on JLT (or 1 gun / 1 rookie if I didn’t see any mid-pricers I was keen on). I think they are my biggest issues at the moment. While Heeney and Yeo haven’t had the best starts, Heeney has played with injury and still averaged well for the season (concussion and gastro in the past couple years) and Yeo I think was impacted with Gaff out and Gaff’s return should give Yeo a bit more time for making better decisions / disposals with ball in hand.

What do you think of the following trades this round (next week I will bring in Tim Kelly via DPP for one of my non-playing mid rookies):

TU: Lobb and Miles —> LDU and Parker in (conservatively, a 15 points / week boost, plus $440k) (after R4 trade, I have $120k in bank)
TD: Lobb and Miles —> Liberatore and Parker (20 points / week, plus $340k) ($20k in bank after Kelly trade).

Thank you for reading my novel.

T/D: Worpel in for D. Smith

  67. Hi guys I just want to share this with you. I probably don’t need to trade this week so I am going to. I want to keep McGrath sso I’n going to trade him for Rozee. I want trade Heeney so I’m going to keep him. Seems logical. Problem is got a lot of money in the bank. Should I go Walsh to Neale this week or go Walsh to Oliver next week. Thanks.

    1. Actually can’t go Rozee if I want Neale this week. Have to go Scrimshaw but I want Rozee’s dpp. So probably thinking Heeney out Kelly in and leave Walsh alone. SHOULD I TRADE OR NOT. Or maybe just McGrath for Rozee or go back to not trading?

TD: Fyfe to go even bigger against St.Kilda

  73. Is it worth trading Balta to Parker considering Balta has been named on field this week and Parker has had 2 easy teams and the first 2 rounds with a tough draw ahead?

T/U: Hold Balta he will play for at least a few weeks and make some cash and can be downgraded then.
    Or…
    T/D: Trade Balta to Parker
