  1. O’Meara to Bont
    McGrath to Newman

I can do this through the 250k I have in the bank from when I traded NRoo to WHE

    31

    8
  2. O’Meara is gone, might trade for a rookie and then upgrade florent

I also want to get ridd of Hibberd, maybe to Newman

Tempted to drop Laird even Howe, or Steele… have to decide which one…

Decisions! Decisions! Time to trade, haven’t used any thus far

  3. Just realised that I can trade O’Meara to any mid, so the question is, which one?

    T/U: Bont
    T/D: Dusty
Comment: Other (Murphy? Pendles? Sloane? Wines?)

  4. I have Goldy and am just not confident in him playing sole ruck with Preuss going well, which means I could expect more 52’s from a premium priced player. Am thinking of going Goldy to Witts and banking 300k for next week to turn O’Meara into Bont, pending form (other trade this week is Smith to Newman in defence).

    T/U – Good move
    T/D – Bad move

  5. having money in the cap after a handy first week, I’ve had 2 very ordinary weeks, no point lolly gagging about..

    O’Meara OUT – Newman IN
    Ainsworth OUT – Dusty IN

    T/U nice trades
    T/D reconsider

    cheers lads..

  6. Is it too late to bring in Witts now? (for gawn)

T/U- Gawn-Witts bank the cash to then upgrade omeara to a premo next week

T/D- Gawn- NRoo via nankervis into rucks

  7. I’m at multiple crossroads about what trades I should make this round. There’s more than 2 options of trades I’m tossing over, so I might need you to voice your opinions on what I should do.

My first trade out will be Gawn. But the second trade depends on who I trade in for him first. Here are the options.

    First trade option 1. M. Gawn > J. Witts
    Second trade options – 1. J. Smith > N. Newman 2. O’Meara > Mid under 600k

    First trade option 2. M. Gawn > S. Martin
    Second trade options – J. Smith > N. Newman

First trade option 3. M. Gawn > N. Riewoldt (sub T. Nankervis into the vacant ruck position)
    Second trade options – J. Smith > N. Newman

Witts looks like he’s hopefully starting to find his game. At 24 he’s at the age where most big men start to rise in form. Only thing is his inconsisent past. If I go with him, depending on if his form is slightly iffy during the upcoming rounds, I could upgrade him.

I had decided at this time last week that one trade I would make was bringing in Nic Newman. But because of the options available, I may need to wait another week.

If I end up getting Witts, I was thinking getting rid of O’ Meara for a way better midfielder. I know it’s only 3 rounds in, but his scores of 71, 89 and 44 isn’t helping. Plus he’s got Geelong, West Coast, St Kilda and Melbourne. So most chances are with those teams especially, he’s gonna get a good tagging. So if I get rid of O’Meara, the midfielders I had in in mind of trading in were: O. Wines, N. Jones, T. Mitchell, B. Ebert, D. Heppell and T. Cotchin. I guess Marc Murphy could be in there too, but I’ve never trusted him (because for one he’s injury prone, second there’s still another 19 games to go. Anything could happen with him). This way if I do trade in one of these guys in, I can have enough cash to potentially get Newman in the week after.

Stefan Martin has had pretty good start. I know he average about 90 last year, but I do have a good feeling about him this year. Not too many people have him either.

What do you guys think is better? Your opinions are greatly appreciated ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Contemplating the same issue. If you were doing option 1 though you would be better pff bringing in newman this week and trading omeara the next though imo.

      4

      0
    2. Of the options you listed I like the Gawn -> Martin & Smith to Newman trade the most.

I don’t think the JOM in the forward line experiment will last even one more week and you’ll get another look at him this way.

      5

  8. Team is doing quite well (top 1%).

Do I trade O’Meara to Swallow?
TU – Yes, Swallow will make a lot more cash the next fee weeks.
TD – No, save the trade – O’Meara will come good / Swallow is too risky

    17

    46
  9. Hibberd to Newman is locked in.

The only question is whether O’Meara to Swallow is worth it, inclined to think not, but worth considering at least!

    6

    20
  10. Held off on going Ablett to the Bont last round and thinking of going Taranto to Swallow this week. I think Swallow will make more cash than Taranto and will probably score 20 -40 additional points per round.

    TU: Good plan
    TD: Not worth a trade.

    22

    21
    1. If you have Sandi you may loose Nank as your back up ruck.

      Pretty risky move.

Getting in Witts for Gawn will give you cash to up grade any other player to a premium.

This option will also cost you a trade,( Witts up grade R8.) but you will keep Nank in the forward line.

      3

      0
  11. Gawn > Swallow
    Hibberd > Newman

And then with the banked cash can go JOM > Hanners next week

T/U Go for it you brilliant bastard
T/D Wasting those precious trades you idiot

    28

    4
  12. Brad Scott has F@?ked Goldy. Needs to be the sole ruckman.

    Goldy > Witts

    Tranto > Murphy

Not the ideal time to trade toranto, I figure the money Murphy makers will be same as what he will bank

    7

    16
  13. Gawn> Witts
    O’meara > Bont

    T/U good trades
    T/D bad trades
I noticed that O’Meara had his knee tapped up yesterday, all of the JLT and the first 2 match he didn’t, and he looked a bit pedestrian, what’s everyone thoughts?
is he’s knee dodgy or was it just a poor game, same as most of the hawks.

    22

    1
    1. JOM was playing as a forward so not seeing much of the ball in a thrashing like that.

As an experiment it failed miserably and I doubt they will repeat it.

Now if they played him forward because of the knee then that is cause for concern.

Personally I’m backing him in another week.

      7

      0
  14. Held off on trading in Newman last week so will be bringing him in for Smith. Most likely the only trade for the week.

    20

    0
  15. T/U – Just Hibberd -> Newman

T/D – JOM -> Newman via Hibberd DPP
    and
    Taranto -> Touk Miller

If I do the second trade, I will also get to play SPP at M8. If I don’t, he will sit on the bench at M9.

    11

    10
  16. Still having nightmares after picking Gawn as skipper…

    TU – Gawn-SMartin plus $80K
    TD – Gawn-Witts plus $300K

    15

    24
  17. Hibberd to newman trade done

For the second trade, I could

T/u trade florent for a cheaper rookie and bank some cash

T/d trade O’Meara for perhaps Oliver or swallow (major risk )

    2

    14
  18. Just the one trade, hibberd to Newman.
Im not happy with my Def premiums at the moment, I know laird and shaw will come good eventually but the more games Adams plays the more I regret going howe over him for the POD/Durability. I’ll hold for now though and wait for rance/Doch to come down in price.

    4

  19. One trade will be Smith to Newman. Bit stuck on the second. Do I go
    TUp Gawn to Nank
    TDown Gawn to Witts

I’m leaning towards Nank as I can swing him forward later and bring Gawn back in. I can afford any ruck so if there’s another suggestion of love to hear it. Also have Sandi and Strea…whatever hos name is

    14

    4
  20. Which would be the more pressing trade this week? I’ve already used my first trade on Newman.

    T/U Gawn to Grundy
    T/D Taranto to Swallow

Feel like most people will go with the first one, but Taranto is a huge worry for mine, and I don’t see much improvement in his scores in the short-term.
Note: Nank will be shift into my rucks if I trade Taranto

    24

    3
  21. Just traded gawn out for n Roo via nankervis dpp and o’mara out for newman via adams dpp.

    TU: Great moves
    TD: Better options out there

    Comment suggestions please

    12

    12
    1. leaves my team as follows:

backs: laird, jj, otten, touhy, marchbank newman (hampton stewart)

mids: danger, adams, fyfe, beams, mcrae, hanners, powell-pepper, swallow (barrett parfitt hibberd)

      rucks: sands, nankervis

fwds: dalhaus, n roo, greene, WHE, roughy, butler (houston eddy)

      2

      2
  22. Need to trade Gawn out and can use Nankervis dip to bring him to the rucks and bring in a fwd. Im also thinking to trade him for Witts which would give me at least 400k in the bank.

    TU: Gawn> Witts
    TD: Gawn> Riewoldt

    15

    15
  23. Going Gawn-Roo (via Nank). Need advice on other trade:

T/U: Smith – Newman (Straight Swap)
T/D: JOM – Newman via Hibberd (Bank 100k)

    Thanks!

    19

    2
  24. TU: Gawn for Witts (599k ITB for next week)
TD Gawn for Roo (343k ITB for next week)

Hibbard to Newman my other trade

    12

    13
  25. Reading above, people getting off JOM very early… Averaged 80 before an off day where Hawks got flogged… We all know what he can do and hasn’t played for 2 years prior, so would think we need a bigger sample size. People happy to pay the $319K but expecting 100+ every week.

    25

    3
      1. His BE is now 58. If he plays forward again this week against Geelong there is every chance he doesn’t make that.

When he’s averaging less than 6 of the rookies (120-190k) I started with, you sometimes just have to cut your losses.

        9

        8
        1. He should still go up in price this week (just).
I’m saving a trade and giving him a chance until his B/E hits 100ish. Meantime still not losing $.

          10

          2
        2. He is on Par for his Price. Actually went up by $8K even after an average game v GC. Yet, Still averaging only 10pts less than Hannebery who was $620K now decreased by $60K and has a Breakeven of 144 so will be going down again. Trading JOM would just be a wasted trade.

          9

          3
  26. I traded Roo out after Rd1, as I didn’t like the look of his injury. Obviously that was a poor decision.
Is it worth trading him back in? Or has that ship sailed?
I don’t want to spend a heap of trades on the bloke, like I did with Rocky in 2015…

    2

    18
  27. Should I trade out Goldstein for Witts or Grundy?

If I go the Witts route I might also trade out O’meara and get the Bont or Sloane if I have enough $$$

    6

    5
  28. Here’s an honest question…

    Who to field

T/U The Bloke who is an AA ruck who averaged 128 2 years ago or..
T/D The 3 gamer who is currently averaging more when getting more ruck time…

    F U Brad

    7

    3
  29. ahh the ponderings of a delusional super coach..

Basically I have all bar Hibberd playing. Everything else is going swimmingly unless I count the Nick trade two weeks ago. La la la
I would like to get Newman this week. Should I trade Hibberd to Newman and lose the “loop hole” or take the little profit that pickett is giving. Do not see pickett getting much more (tog or cash).

tu Hibberd. A bird in the hand.
td Pickett. The loop hole is worth more money than this lemon will make

    16

    5
  30. I have already used three trade (Goldy > Stef Martin, Florent > Butler and now Hibberd > Newman)
Is it worth persisting with Jack Steele or should I upgrade him to a proper premo fwd (I have $550k to use so can afford any). My other forwards on field are Nank, Buddy, Dahl, WHE and one of houston/butler.

T/U Upgrade Steele to an NRoo, Macrae, Green
T/D give him a few more weeks

    3

    25
  31. First trade a no brainer – Smith > Newman

    Who to replace Gawn with:

T/U Go the safe option of Grundy

T/D Live on the edge and get Preuss

My major concern with Preuss is JS when Waite and Wood are fit (which is at least a month away). I think he has overtaken Daw.

Banking around $400K whilst the cows fatten up appeals although some need to fatten up a fair bit quicker!

    13

    8
  32. OK Boys, reading suggestions on other posts and love how most of you think. So rather than a simple TU TD Post, am Hoping I can get some ideas as to where I head from here. Here is my Setup

    DEF:
    K.Simpson H.Shaw S.Hurn
    Z.Tuohy C.Hampton A.Otten
    (T.Stewart M.Hibberd)

    MID:
    P.Dangerfield, JP.Kennedy, D.Martin
    N.Fyfe, M.Murphy, D.Beams
    J.O’Meara, S.Powell-Pepper
    (B.Ainsworth S.Petrevski-Seton, R.Fox)

    RUCK:
    T.Nankervis A.Sandilands (B.Preuss)

    FWD:
    L.Franklin, T.Greene, J.Roughead
    W.Hoskin-Elliott, D.Butler, D.Houston
    (O.Florent B.Eddy)

    Only done 2x Correctional Trades.
    So I have 28 Trades & $227.2K to Spend

Obvious need to address the DEF & FWD.

Thoughts? Ideas? Defenders I should Target? Heppell? A Forward?

    0

    1
    1. Looks pretty good for round 3. Be patient and build rookie cash cows at this stage. Maybe Hibberd to Newman.

      10

      0
    2. 1st trade should be Hibberd to Newman in defence.
The 2nd you should use to upgrade a defensive mid-pricer IMO, personally I would use some of that cash to upgrade Tuohy to Adams/Docherty as they look like the top scoring defenders this year.

      9

      0
      1. Yeah that where Im headed Alex I think. But will endeavour to keep Tuohy and upgrade Hampton to one of Adams/Docherty/Laird. Got Over $200K in the Bank, so a cheeky downgrade in a week or two to someone else on the bubble and the Hampton will be upgraded. Will do tje same in the Forward Line after that.

        0

        0
  33. I used 2 correction trades on rookies last week and I had to use another to get rid of Gawn.

    TU: Stewart/Macreadie>Newman
    TD: Hold

    20

    4
  34. Righto this is a two parter.
Am thinking of breaking the golden rule of not trading premos and trading out Goldstein as have concerns about his value with Preuss in the side. Currently have Sandilands as R2 and Witts as R3 with Nankervis in forward line.

T/U Trade Goldstein to a rookie ruckman and have a bank of 600k which can be used in about three or four weeks to upgrade three fattened rookies to premiums.

T/D Never trade a starting premium.

My thinking with this is that if Goldy continues the way he is going I won’t lose many points by having Witts on the ground.

    21

    3
  35. Part B.

If I do trade Goldstein do I….

T/U Bring in either Strnadica or Cameron to maintain forward swing with Nankervis

T/U Bring in Preuss as R3 as he is getting a game and going to keep making money.

    17

    4
  36. Is Eddy to D. Swallow via Parfitt worth the trade?
Swallow will become M8 and this will push SPP to M9 and Parfitt to F7

    11

    11
  37. Hibberd out, Newman in is a certainty.

I have Ryder in ruck. Thinking of trading him out for Preuss for some cash gen. I have Witts and Sandilands who would be my on-field rucks. Preuss on the bench. Short term no DPP in my rucks, until I bring Strndca in (I have Nanks in FWD line).

But I’m getting greedy. If I run with these two trades, I’ll have upwards of around 600K in the kitty. I could do this for a week, and splash out for some big upgrades come Round 5 (maybe Hannebery & Montagna perhaps).

    5

    9
  38. I think my best two trades to make this week are:

    T Stewart OUT -> M Newman IN
    J Pickett OUT -> D Swallow IN

Whilst Stewart and Pickett might make a little bit more coin with BE’s of 5 and 8 respectively, their scoring potential is low and I expect their prices to plateau soon. I’d like to jump on Newman and Swallow before that bubble bursts.

My only concern is whether these trades are too wasteful this early on in the season. I have used 2 trades already trading out Riewoldt to Steele in Rd1 (awesome) and Hibberd to WHE last week so this would leave me with 26 trades left in the season with 20 rounds to go.

Currently sitting at 140 rank overall and pretty content (even with Eddy’s captain efforts last week!)

    TU – Do the thing
    TD – Conserve the trades

    25

    2
  39. I don’t think this a good trade idea but what are peoples thoughts on Sandi Sandilands to nankervis? I’ve already used 3 trades to this point before making this one.
    TU: good trade
    TD: waste of a trade

    1

    30
  40. T/U: Gawn >>> Witts
    Taranto >>> Murphy

T/D: Move Nankervis (fwd) into the ruck for Gawn, then also moving Cameron into the fwds and trading for Macrae?

    10

    6
  41. TU:
    M. Gawn > T. Nankervis
    J. Thurlow > N. Newman
(This would free up approx. $325k which could be used to upgrade McCarthy the following week to a premo)

    TD:
    M. Gawn > T. Nankervis
    C. McCarthy > J. Steele

    17

    0
  42. Hopefully most people have started off well! Here are my trade options:

Currently don’t have enough to upgrade Taranto to Swallow so in order to do so I need to downgrade Stewart to Newman.

TU: Stewart to Newman and Taranto to Swallow

TD: Just get Newman in and save the second trade

    ๐Ÿ™‚

    7

    18
        1. Neither could Petrevski-Seton til he banged out a 116…

You’re gonna shell out more money to get a player who might make a bit more money, but could just as easily stagnate or get injured again…and in either scenario you’ll be making yet another trade later when you want to cash him in or upgrade him to a premo…

Hold Taranto and trade him out for a rookie on the bubble in a few weeks time, it’s the sensible thing to do.

          9

          0
    1. I’m ditching Tuohy.

Why? Because I’m aggressive with trades and will then have 3 premo spots left for Shaw, Simpson and Adams. Last week was rookie corrections and this week is mid-price corrections.

Will allow me to upgrade O’Meara to Bont to have 7 premium mids also. 26 trades remain but have a team I can sit on for 3-4 weeks.

      8

      2
  43. Thinking along similar lines.

Tuohy and JOM just aren’t doing what we had hoped.

They both have high BE for there price so are dead wood.

Tuohy to Newman looks a no brainer.

JOM is a bit trickier. I really want Sloane 3.6% ownership/ Bont 23.1% ownership

    I’m also considering M Murphy 17% and 9mil man J Kelly 6.4%

Murph or Kelly would leave me $150K to up grade a forward next week.

If Murph and Kelly can finish top 15 Mid for the season picking one of them for 500K now would be Genius.

Might let the thumbs decide later in the week.

Still got 29 trades so time to pull the trigger.

    7

    1
  44. I reckon M. Murphy is worth grabbing this week. Wanted to last week, but couldn’t make it happen with some rookies on the bubble as well. Time to cull a few mid pricers and bring in a premo and a rookie…..

    In: M. Murphy & N. Newman
    Out: J. O’Meara & J. Steele

It’ll take a few DPP shuffles to achieve, but projected scores go up, and value of players should go up more.

    7

    15
  45. Benched Gawn
Nankervis –> into rucks via dpp
Parfitt–> to forwards dpp with picket

    Taranto out for swallow
    Vickers Willis out for Newman

Will trade Gawn next week as Newman and swallow a must haves

    5

    6
    1. Hold Vickers-Willis as a North fan I can almost guarentee he will get a few games when you need him most so long he don’t get injured.

      1

      0
  46. Marchbank to Newman allows me to go O’Meara to Murphy

    TU: Smart trade, clever
TD: burning trades chasing cash and points

    2

    23
  47. Smith for newman trade is a lock.

Didnt go for otten last week due to worry over his JS. Now with the news of jenkins being out again, and with mcgovern gone for a while, i am contemplating getting him in this week (yes i know i missed the early boat last week but i feel there is still plenty to gain from him) my options are:

    1) dont do it.
    2) stewart out for otten. Will cost me some cash. But otten will increase at a faster rate imo
    3) tuoghy out. Nets me 200k. Leaving marchbank/otten at d4
    4) swing adams to midfield and trade out hibberd for otten. Eventually put adams back in defence.

Any help and suggestions are appreciated

    2

    2
  48. Tossing up going a risky & cheap ruck lineup or safe but more pricey lineup. I have Nank as backup for both scenarios, and Sandi in R2 already. Stradiv-blah-blah as R3. Other trade will be Smith to Newman. Spencer trade will likely mean I end up needing to trade him out when Gawn comes back toward the end of the season, which is always tricky. Sandi will likely need a trade of his own as some point too.

T/U Gawn to Grundy (safer) left with $90k for next week
T/D Gawn to Spencer (risky) left with $382k for next week

    14

    3
    1. Hey Fiona.

I’m not sure who you have at F 7/8 .

You could bench Gawn for a week, moving Nank to rucks.

This would give you a chance to see how Spencer goes this week.

      Just a thought ?

      6

      0
      1. My forward line is very weak already. Removing Nank would leave only Dahl and Rough and a bunch of rookies. If my forwards were stronger, I’d consider it for sure! If anything, the extra cash needs to go into an upgrade there.

        3

        0
        1. Witts is another option.

I know you missed his first price rise but he has proven he can play.

Averaging just under 100 he still has a negative break even.-43

If he can keep it up should get to $450K at his R9 bye.

This would make you $150K ( magic cash cow number)

And leave you $300k to upgrade your weak forward line

          Happy Coaching..

          6

          0
    2. I’d go Witts – I have had him since the start with Sandi and more than happy, considering the price of both of them together = 1 Gawn.

Want to beef up the Forward Line early on.

Both will leave me with over 400K

    1. NRoo – Last 12 years, lowest season average is 87.
Yeo – Never averaged over 82.

No brainer really, especially if you are still left with a war chest.

  50. Ruck set up as is: Gawn, Sandilands (Witts)

Would it be worth bringing in Preuss for Gawn, leaving Sandi and Witts on the field and allowing me to bring in the bont or dusty next week ? Or should I bring in the Nank

    T/U Preuss
    T/D Nank

  51. Gawn to Martin

    Hibberd to Newman

I have Nan in the forward line and has outperformed all expectation, however with Gawn going down I still need a back up, Strnadica only on the pine and loophole cannot risk 3 months with no coverage.

  52. TU Gawn to SMartin
TD Gawn to Swallow, Nank into the Ruck via DPP. Potentially upgrade o’meara or Taranto next week if they dud again

Why isn’t there much love for Swallow this week? At -42 BE, 280k and 34 touches on the weekend surely he’s a lock?

  55. I’m thinking of a big move. Some may call it shark, others (in fact probably a lot) crazy….unlikely I’ll end up doing it but needed to get it off my chest….

Thinking about doing Shaw > Newman & Taranto > Touk Miller (instead of just Hibberd > Newman)

Hear me out, before I get berated for trading a premium….

    1) Watching the last two GWS games, as pointed out in some earlier posts, Shaw isn’t getting the amount of freebie kick-ins he used to take. Obv this might change, but his role ATM doesn’t appear to be entirely clear to me. He’ll still ton up every now and then but I’m just not sure if he’ll average 100+ from here on in.

    2) Hibberd survives another week somehow as a result and I get to loophole Newman this week.

    3) Rocket has been playing Miller in the guts and kicks the odd goal. I think he’ll finish a top 6 FWD and really like the way he plays. He has the Rd 9 bye, but I should be able to cover that and will help with subsequent bye rounds. Will also be a nice POD and he won’t get any cheaper.

    4) Taranto has done sweet $#&% all, sure I’ll lose a little $$ trading him early but his B/E is positive compared to most other rookies so loss will be minimal. This means Eddy also survives for time-being (almost not worth wasting a trade for Eddy right now IMO).

    5) I’ll be adding a much needed $190K+ to the bank, currently only $2K.

    6) Above also solves my Forward woes where I currently have to play both Taranto & Turner every week (other Fwds are Buddy, Dolly, Nank, Steele).

    T/U – Shark move
T/D – Haha nice try bro

Comment – better forward options e.g. Greene, Burnman etc…

  57. This is a complete no guts no glory move however I am contemplating going Gawn to Witts which would free up 300k for me to use soon. Nank is 200k more expensive and I believe he will average 10-15ppg more than Witts which doesn’t compensate my belief in that I could trade o’meara who will average 70-85 to a premium like a fallen hannerberries for 200k. This means if hanners drops to 560k and o’meara rises to 360k I can gain potentially a 40ppg increase for my 200k which completely compensates the move from Gawn to Witts. What are your thoughts guys?
    T/U Smart Move
T/D Just play the safe option
    Cheers

  58. Not sure what to do about Gawn…
Currently my rucks are Gawn, Sandi (Pruess) with Nank in the forward line. Initial thoughts were to Trade out Gawn, swap Nank to ruck and get Bont or Sloane in mid thanks to dpp. However this would lose my ruck swing (Planned to trade Pruess out for Strandica after pruess stops making money).
Other option is to sit Gawn on the pine and take whatever score Pruess produces this week and have another look at the likes of grundy, Martin or Witts next week as not sold on any of them yet.
T/U Don’t worry about the ruck swing get a premo mid
T/D You need that Swing Sandi will get a boo boo at some stage and need cover
    Thanks

    1. Dear Emma.

Here is a little left field option worth considering .

Trust Pruess with the R2 role for the next few weeks and trade Gawn down to Strandica.

This will keep your RUCK/ FWD swing and free up heaps of cash to upgrade at least two players on other lines.

Its a pretty risky move. But one I would consider.

      1. Thanks Freo Tragic. Sounds like a good idea. I might wait till Pruess plays to see what he gets, if it’s good enough I might go ahead with the Gawn->Strandica trade.

  59. 2 options here:

    Trade Hibberd to Newman or/

Trade JOM to Nemwan via Hibberd to the mids, then trade Taranto to Marc Murphy

I am highly ranked so I want to keep the scoring high and go hard at the overall.

Positives: Playing Murphy over JOM will undoubtably add scoring potential. Murphy is a unique ‘VC’ option and looks fit, healthy and is rippin’ and a tearin’ it up in SC. A bloke averaging 142 at 510k is rare.

Negatives: Taranto to Murphy costs ~170k, is it worth it? Also, it means I have to hold Hibberd who is dead weight and not making any $$$.

Thumbs up: Do rookie correction of Hibberd to Newman and hold O’meara. Leaves me with 28 trades & $88,000

Thumbs down: Trade JOM to Nemwan & Taranto to Murphy. Leaves me with 27 trades & $9,000.

  60. This might not be seen by anyone but I thought i would share my Gawn plan.

I am torn between Nank, Grundy and Stef. in that order of priority.
I have sandi at r2 and pruess on the bench.

Having a look at the fixture though, Melbourne play before all of them and after north. this means i can loophole pruess if he tons up and put gawn on the bench giving me another week to look at the 3 alternatives. Given goldy is carrying some sort of niggling injury and pruess is starting ruckman, there is every chance pruess pumps out 100+

if it fails, I trade Gawn out on friday night/saturday morning for nank/grundy/martin.

In fact, I could also do this in round 5, 6 and 7. Although round 5 i would have to take grundy, round 6 would be nank or grundy and round 7 would be nank.

I dont expect Pruess to ton up for the next 4 games however I will take any advantage i can get. If pruess tons up this week, It is only about 10 points less than a nank/grundy/stef is going to give me but i get an extra week to make my decision.

If pruess tons up the next 4 weeks, i only lose perhaps 40 points but it is worth it if i see an injury to nank, a return of archie smith or mason cox.

    1. I like it. Nothing worse than bringing someone in and then they get injured that week.

Give yourself as many extra weeks as you can before deciding.

  61. Would a Barrett to Swallow trade be a waste of a trade

Figure if Swallow is coming in, this is the week to do it (unless he doesn’t play, which buys an extra week)

Barrett is my only direct trading option – (already bought in Newman and only have 95k bank)

Just see Swallow making more in the long run (dirty I can’t get him for Pickett)

TU: make the trade, better long term upgrade option, cash generation yadda yadda
TD: hold the trade, swallow’s not that good

  62. I need advice! My backline is Z.Jones, Z.Tuohy, C.Mills, C.Marchbank, S.Wellingham, A.Otten, C.Hampton J.Smith. Mids are P.Danger, M.Murphy, M.Bont, C.Oliver, D.Beams, J.Kelly, N.Fyfe, JOM, G.H-Smith, D.Swallow, S.P-Pepper. Rucks are A.Sandi, N.Vardy & L.Strndica. Forwards are L.Dahlhaus, T.Nank, J.Billings, J.Steele, S.Higgins, W.H-Elliot, T.Taranto, R.Eddy. (14k left & 28 trades left)
Tuohy, Mills & Billings are the only ones tipped to not reach their B/E.
My thoughts are to make one trade (J.Smith to N.Newman) or two trades (Z.Tuohy to N.Newman and either JOM to Sloane/Martin/Adams etc or Billings to N.Riewoldt or Vardy to S.Martin/B.Grundy)
Any advice would be greatly appreciated as I am averaging 2200 ATM with a relatively risky line-up.

    1. I think cash generation is still the order of the day, so would use that as a principle to make a decision.

    2. Congrats on your average Homer but I’m sorry your backline is terrible. Not one proven premo. Get Newman in somehow.

Mids.. You have Swallow or JOM on the bench.. Waste.

Rucks: at least you don’t have Gawn but Vardy.. come on.

A lot of reshuffling needed but try and fix that defence. Get a Docherty in there at least. Mids are strong but money wasted on the bench, maybe downgrade someone and upgrade another to get a proven premo (Pendles, Joelwood, Martin). Rucks might have to hold for a while but IMO Grundy will finish no.1 ruck given the circumstances. Forwards are fine but overall this is MIDPRICE MADNESS at its finest.

      Best of luck.

      1. Thamkyou for your advice. I know it’s not the recipe for winning but I do get a thrill when a Mid-Pricer pays off. I just thought that there weren’t too many decent rookies this year so just went for players with job security and likely cash generators. I will look to improving the backline in the coming weeks.
        Thanks again.

  63. What do people think of Burton, Broomhead, Ainsworth, Horlin-Smith?

Are they too expensive to be worth considering? Or do we need to look to these more expensive players if we’ve missed the likes of SPS and Houston?

    TU: Take a punt
    TD: Too expensive

    1. Adams is bound to get injured; this means it will end up costing you not one but two trades. On the other hand, the extra points that you would get from Adams in the mean time would be substantial. It’s up to you as to whether this is worth two trades, though.

      1

  64. Lots of speculation about getting swallow in. Not keen to trade Taranto or JOM just yet but florent to swallow worth it (thumbs up) or hold for now (thumbs down)

  65. Having been burnt by dodgy medical reports, is it worth burning another trade to bring Nick Riewoldt back in?

    TU: Go for it.
    TD: Not yet.

  66. Shaw โ€“> Lloyd.

TU: Good move โ€“ Shaw has become a liability, and Lloyd looks like a great option.
TD: Bad move โ€“ Shaw will come good, and/or Lloyd’s greatness is temporary.

  67. Was going for the no-brainer Hibberd to Newman trade only.
Have changed to Newman for Tuohy and O’Meara for Sloane. Both Tuohy and O’Meara have been below expectations, especially this week’s 44 from O’Meara.
Now have 7 premo mids and my defence is :

Adams, Laird, Marchbank, Otten, Hampton, Newman with Stewart an Hibberd.
Newman for Tuohy just seems right. $300k in the bank and I really like the way Newman goes about it. My D3-D6 guys can hopefully stand up and avoid under 65 scores.

Looking to get to Docherty soon but sometimes the best-laid plans go out the window.

    1. Andrew 1.

      I’m doing the same trades.

My DEF now. Doc, Laird, Shaw, Marchbank, Otten, Newman. Hampton/Stewart.

Mids. Danger, Jellwood, Sloane, JPK, Fyfe, Beams, Neale, PIG. Barrett/Pickett/Hibbard.

      I have now used 3 trades, But…

Happy to be rid of some mid priced madness.

If Witts and Sandi can keep performing, I just have my forward line to fix in the short term.

      Best of luck.

  68. Not sure with trades this week. Haven’t used any yet so sitting on 30
Newman is a must I have two options I can get rid of Pickett who is on world record pace for the slowest coin generation record which would allow me to have a loophole in back line and mid or I can just get rid of
    J.Smith for Newman
Let me know what you guys think any advice would be appreciated
T/UP Pickett for Newman get that loophole
    T/D J.Smith for Newman
Ps Probably won’t do this trade but could also go Taranto to Swallow

    1. Bluebagger05

Last week some folks traded Parfitt for WHE.

Parfitt goes Bang and scores 99.

Have some faith in young Pickett. One good score and he will be back on track.

J Smith is deadwood and should be moved on ASAP.

My thoughts on Taranto..I think he will score 90+ in the next few weeks and some will regret selling him too soon.

  69. TU – Gawn to Preuss (play Sandi and Witts for a few weeks)
TD – Florent/Eddy/Hannan to FWD gun and hold Gawn for a week (have 330k in the bank)

    0

    3
  70. Is Gawn to Mumford a good move?

I have Ryder in the FWDS for cover (although this hasn’t gone so well). I don’t see Nank lasting after round 5 and didn’t start him for that reason. Don’t see Martin lasting as the sole ruck when Lions start losing which pretty much leaves Grundy as the last ruck, and I can’t see the pies winning many games.

T/U – Good Idea, Mummy is solid option
T/D – Bad Idea, Mummy is going to miss to many games/get injured/be unreliable.

    Thanks!
