Trade Talk Rd5

Written by Schwarzwalder on April 14 2019

Does everyone remember ‘Trade Talk Rd2’?  It was only three weeks ago…….. Grundy and Gawn were victims of the new rules, Heeney was under an injury cloud and Zach Merrett’s motivation was brought into question.  Fast forward to the present time……. Grundy (in particular) and Gawn are dominating the Rucks again, Heeney has a pair of 130s in the last fortnight and Merrett has a hat-trick of tons (including a 155 on Saturday).  A few of the young Tiger midfielders look like decent downgrade targets…….is it possible to start upgrading this week?

      1. Didn’t say I was going to trade him, relax. Just frustrated considering that my M3 spot was a toss up between Satan Oliver and Neale.

        1. Well you asked “What to do about Satan Oliver”. If you weren’t talking about trading him what were you inferring? Were you considering if you should take him out to dinner?

          1. More just bemoaning his satantic scoring, I well know I’d never make a trade like that- in fact, I’m yet to use any trades.

            3

            9
    1. i would hold until his shoulders are right , 107 is still a descent score each week
if u think that’s too far away , use him like a rook trade , sideways trade him to a neale cripps whitfield or lloyd & get him back when he’s right & his price has dropped , i’m guessing his best isn’t far away though

  1. Putting Lobb forward and getting Mummy in for a rookie. Will get Grundy later if need be when rrst of field is upgraded. Question is, which rookie goes? Petruccelle. Setterfield. Parker.

Ross from Tiges might be a decent option after next week. Looked good.

    1. 25 posessions 10 contested is a great effort , but playn in the guts with cotch & dusty to come back will probably push him into the fwd line ,
      hope im wrong thhough ,
would be a great cash cow if he could stay in the guts

      1. Butters is not playing mids? Hes a high half forward/small forward. Where did this mids idea come from?

        3

        0
    1. Butters has only had one bad score. Cash generation will be stunted for a while, but decent scores in his next two games should fix that.
Parker is a different story, that’s two duds in a row. Was never going to be a consistent scorer

      1. I still don’t know how he managed to score those two 80+ scores. I was hesitant to start him this season, given he’s got a small forward role for a bottom-8 side, but started him anyway expecting a 50ish average. I guess he’s just returning to the mean these last two weeks.
However, he has made almost $100k now, so moving him on wouldn’t be the worst thing to do. I’m thinking of O’Brien (using Bines’ DPP).

  2. Been waiting all weekend to flick you Dunkley. Good riddance to you.

    Rowan Marshall ?!!

Can’t go much worse than Dunkley already i guess!

    1. I’m likely making the same move …

A week late maybe, but like Westhoff, Macrae and Cogs (all a week late last year) I expect it to pay off.

Am now not convinced Longer will play a game this year. Up against MEL (Gawn) next week and if Longer is still not named, I’m doing it!

      4

      1
        1. Allsaints doesn’t think he’ll break into the side, StK appear to have a winning formula for the time being. Longer also didn’t do to hot in the state league either.

          We discussed this before.

          2

          3
  3. No trading for me this week.
Applied the Josh Glenn rule re Stack and glad I did. I also question his JS.
Ross looked good but with Martin, Cotchin, Houli & Riewoldt back in in the next 2 rounds you have to question whether he will be in your team long enough to make any money.
Rotham was only a late in for Jetta who I think had hamstring/calf awareness and could be back in this round
Besides all rookies are still going up in price but just not perhaps at the rate we would like (especially Burgess who must be on borrowed time)

    1. Reilly O’Brien? Two solid scores in a row. There was talk of him almost getting the ruck spot over Jacobs for rd 1. Hasn’t put a foot wrong (except for nearly missing his foot from a set shot directly infront). Is there any potential he keeps Jacobs out of the side for a couple of weeks longer? Or potentially they play alongside each other?

      3

      2
      1. While I don’t super rate my sisters partner’s knowledge, or my Dad’s. They both can not wait for Jacobs to slot straight back in.

    2. Stack JS very good I believe, Dimma said in post game interview about how impressive he thought he was. I just hope Ross can hold on as well, that’s a bigger concern

      9

      2
  4. Wow. Some terrible trade descitions. Is Dunkley really that bad? Who’s better? A 35 year old Mundy? A 50 year old Boak? I’m holding him. Forget about Rotham. He will be dropped this week or next. Good player but wont get enough games to go up.

    13

    8
    1. I know what you’re going to say, but I’m actually considering Billings. He’s everywhere (i.e. not just the forward pocket), and when he doesn’t butcher the ball, he scores pretty well!

      20

      2
      1. played @ home against a team with a lot of their guns missing , that also lost their full back & centre 1/2 back in the 3rd & 4th Q ,
only had 60 pts in the 1st 3 Q’s to that point
he’s a little flat tracker that usually only performs when his team is flying , having said that i hope he sucks in all the coaches ahead of me in the rankings

          1. @ a quick glance
if i needed a Fwd @ the same price point as billings
            i would look @ de goey , he plays 3 of the next 5 @ the G ,
            BE 76 , av 85
plays briz ess port carl stk over the next 5 games
if you ignore the 59 in his 1st game , then his av is up @ 93

            2

            48
            1. my interest has been peaked
if you all had to bring in a fwd @ around 480 k who would you bring in
              billings
              or
a different fwd ( pls name them )

              7

              1
              1. I wouldn’t bother bringing anyone in at that price. Wait til you can afford a proper top 6 forward instead.

                2

                0
    2. James Worpel looks like he could go 95+ as long as he keeps some consistency. Would pocket you a bit of cash in the meantime also.

      3

      6
    3. Your 50 year old Boak has had 119, 123, 136 & 134, mate. Dunkley yet to hit 100 mostly up forward with Libba draining his old midfield points from him. Hmmmmmm…

      13

      1
    1. Piss Dunkley off. People saying hold him are forgetting one of the few exceptions to the ‘never trade premos’ rule: A role change. We saw it with Hibberd last year when he changed from being a rebounding defender who pumped out weekly tons to a lockdown player who was lucky to score 90. Ditto for Dunkley. He’s gone from an inside mid role to a half forward flank, and has clearly fallen behind Libba, Bont and Wallis in the midfield pecking order. Given the form of all those blokes, his role won’t change any time soon. As a result, his scoring won’t change either.

  5. Collins and Butters OUT

    Rotham and Rockcliff IN

I was in need of premo/good mid as I only had Neale,Bont,Cogs,Higgins and Libba

    1. Thought your earlier suggestion of ditching Goldy was bonkers but this truly is (and i know bonkers trades!!).

For what possible reason would you trade out a rookie with a 3 round avg of 84?? Collins has a lot of cash left to generate and after a poor game 1 has ended up being one of our better rookies this season. And that’s for a one game rookie who was a late in and has minimal JS. Just don’t do it.

  6. After some help SCT community…

I have Lobb in the ruck who i want to bring fwd and bring in Mumford. I have used one trade and 316k in the bank. Trying to decide to either drop a rookie (Parker, Setterfield, Petruccelle, Butters) early or maybe B.Crouch. He’s been good and I don’t like trading him but gives me a warchest, puts Constable on field and gives me DPP mid/fwd link through Setterfield to my mid bench. Thoughts?

    TU: trade out a kid
    TD: trade out B.Crouch

    Thanks for your help guys

    8
    1. Wait to hear on Sauce (I’m hearing up to four weeks). If that’s the case then O’Brien has to be a far better option than Mumford. Will make an extra $100k in the same time period, will likely cost you less than 10pts a week, and will allow you to upgrade to an Uber much sooner elsewhere.
      WIN WIN WIN 🙂

  7. Getting rid of mills and witts and bringing in grundy and need a back rookie was thinking Rotham and other suggestions

    2

    2
    1. Who does rotham play for ??
Was thinking of downgrading butters to stack in order to upgrade Williams to Hurn. Would I be better off downgrading say dursmaa to rotham, assuming he’s a defender.
      Thanks.

      1. Hore u say.
        Thumbs up dursmaa to hore.
        Thumbs down butters to stack.
Am thinking dursmaa hore but butters stack are players most traded in and out this week so far.
        Thanks again.

  8. This might sound like a crazy idea trading out a player who has scored 3 tons out of his 4 games so far this season but here it goes.

    Steele down to Rockliff
    Parker down to a rookie
Pocket $150k to allow enough funds to bring in T Kelly (or another fallen premo) in 1-2 weeks when his price has dropped.

Pros: – Rockliff’s TOG and mid time well up on previous years. Looking the potential to go 115+ this season and his 38 last week means he hasn’t jumped up in price too much.
    – Fwd line rookies look to be the worst for scoring potential this season, an early upgrade to Kelly could see an on field points increase of 40-50 a week.

Cons: – You’re trading out a player who’s scored 3 tons out of 4 games!! Trades are gold.
    – Rockliff

    2 trades used so far.

    T/U: Do it…
    T/D: Don’t do it…

    1. Ash.

One other important thing to consider is Steele is young ( more potential upside) and very durable, He has hardly missed a game over the last few seasons.

Rocky ,although not really old, has less upside and is one of the more injury prone players going around.

Realistically you only gain $50k and it costs you a trade.

History say’s Rocky will cost you another injury trade later as well.

All this for a “potential” 10+ points per week.

I would HOLD Steele for sure.

      1

    1. Averages are nice, but they are no good if not playing. Its points over the rest of the season that are most important.

      3

      0
    2. It is irrelevant who will average more. I can’t see Marshal or Setterfield in your team come next month. Gawn will out score Mummy easily by years end. T/U may make you a few extra dollars. But it will cost you a lot of points, and another trade later on to get in Gawn. It’s your decision mate. Just get Gawn.

  9. 29 trades left, too many dud rookies at the moment! Been burnt by Boak in the past, but is he the real deal this year?

    Parker to Boak
    Butters to Stack

    TU Do it
TD Boak won’t keep it up

    9

    24
    1. If you’re going to get rid of rookies they’re the right ones to get rid of. Not sure Boak’s the best option to bring in though. Remember, you only get the points they score for the rest of the season!

      8

      0
      1. 100% agree plus with Hutchings this week, surely Boak / Rockliff will struggle.
How about Marshall instead? Leaves me $180k for future upgrades and he’s looking very good this year

        6

        1
    2. FD wrote a great article about long term averages….and how players ultimately return to them. Beware Boak now for just that reason.

      2

      1
    3. Mate, being burnt by Boak in the past shouldn’t factor in to whether you select him this year. Whether he broke your daughter’s heart or didn’t give you the wave when you let him pull out in front of you in the Adelaide Oval carpark is irrelevant. The only things that matter are his role and output this year. His role gets a big tick. Even with Wines, Rocky, SPP and Robbie around him, he has a perma inside mid role, which is a stark contrast to previous years when he spent most of his time inside 50. He looks to have swapped roles with Ebert, and going by both his and Ebert’s form this year, that ain’t gonna change. Now for his output. We know he’s been an uber premo in years gone by. This year he’s showing us that he’s still capable of those elite scores with four games in a row above 120. It’s obviously an unsustainable hot streak, but the fact that he can still score at that capacity says to me there’s no reason he shouldn’t average 105+ for the rest of the year. Meaning he’ll likely be the 2nd or 3rd top forward. Add to that the fact that he’s still priced below 105 and he’s a lock and load for mine.

      5

        1. I’d say she’s either in a retirement home or decomposed, but if that’s your type, then go for it

          1

          0
      1. Haha very entertaining response Max! I hear you on not considering past performance, been doing SC for a number of years so there’s certain guys that enter the never again list…

        Let’s try and settle it:

        TU Marshall – $180k ITB
        TD Boak – $27k ITB

        0

        3
  10. Stef martin to Mumford
    Williams to Whitfeild

Considering I never planned on keeping stef. He isn’t scoring as consistent as I would have hoped… So now its just a matter of saving for grundy. Also I think Whitfeild is an no brainer as a lock in defender.

Call it early and make the trade??

    Tu: yes
    Td: no

    7

    17
      1. Agree…how many games has Mummy ever played in one season ? He’s not exactly in the prime age for his career.

        2

        0
        1. Don’t really need him to play out the season. Just need him to make cash. He seems to be coping quite well for being out of the afl for a year. But yes this is a big punt!

My biggest concern is that Martin does not look like he will hit scores that he used too (130+) this season due to the new ruck roles at Brisbane. Especially going into this next match against grundy.

          1

          0
  11. So I know this is being greedy, as I’m currently ranked in the mid 889 and should be content with my team. I’ve used my 3 corrective trades and am set to sit back and wait a couple rounds before trading. However, Parker has stagnated, and if O’Brien gets named next week, I’m tempted to trade for him via Bines DPP. It’d likely net me 150k+ over the coming weeks, but I don’t want to waste the trade at the same time.

TU – Go for the cash gen, trade Parker.
TD – Hold, no need to be greedy.

    20

    3
  12. T/U: trade pendles
    T/D: hold pendles

I’ve only got $73700 in the bank so if I was to trade Pendles, I could get Liberatore and pocket some more money to use elsewhere such upgrading Daniel Rich to Whitfield. Any thoughts would be great.

    9

    9
    1. At this point, I would have to say Libba is not an option. Not sure about Pendles though – lots of people like Rockliff (I’m skeptical, but perhaps?)

      6

      2
  13. So I can afford to do both these trades.

B.Crouch to Boak via DPP with Setterfield
Parker to Mumford via DPP with Lobb

    Pull the trigger?

    2

    10
    1. Brads had one poor scoring game and he still collected 24 touches. I think hold him a little longer, sneaky chance he becomes a keeper!

      2

      0
  14. Currently sitting 587, I’ve got Hore and Collins sitting on my defensive bench. I’ve got Balta,Parker and Settlefield stinking up my FWD line
Should I trade for Stack and and bring Heeney back FWD line , Do I trade Parker or Balta out and is it worth the trade?

    7

    0
  15. Currently sitting at 866 but I’m mainly focusing on my league. I am still on 30 trades and I’m wondering if I should use them this week?? Only concerns right now are some of the rookies but other than that, everything is okay for now.

Anyway, should I continue to save trades for another week if possible or should I start to aggressively trade? Thankss

    6

    1
  16. Started the season with Dahlhaus and he had a couple of nice games for me (with the exception of the game against GWS) but I think it’s time to flick him out for Heeny now that I have the available funds – plus I already have Danger and T.Kelly in the fwd line and I think 3 cats are too many

    T/U pull the trigger
T/D Go on… pull the trigger

    9

    6
  17. Thinking Clarke & setterfield out
    Hore, stack in.

I know Clarke had a little more money to make (be 15), but hore looked good. Will he holds his spot with May & Jetta not to far away?

    1

    8
  18. In need of more Premo Mids
I have Neale Bont Cogs Higgins LIBBA Smith Butters and Scott

How shall I bring in another good mid ???

Should I trade Wingard ??? (Forward)

    Suggestion
    Wingard and Scott OUT

    Heeney Ross (Tigers) IN

    1

    9
  19. Is it time to trade Dunkley? I feel like I have asked myself this same question the last few weeks now. Keen to get others opinions.

    10

    2
  20. Time to upgrade Sheed? His BE is going up and he looks to be the chief victim of Gaff’s return to the team.

    11

    3
    1. Question 2:

TU – Zac Williams is a keeper, worth carrying to the byes at worst

TD – Zac Williams suits an early upgrade to Sicily / Laird / Lloyd

      26

      3
    2. Question 3:

TU – Stack is worth an early downgrade given stagnating rookies

TD – Not worth it, hold the trade and be patient

      12

      6
    3. Hore played well, but he was OK in R1 too. He’s already been dropped and was only a late inclusion on the weekend, so not convinced his JS is great. May, Jetta and Lewis are all coming into Melbs back six soon. Goodwin generally gives rookies a good run (Fritsch, Spargo, Hannan) so the fact he hasn’t with Hore may indicate where he rates him.

      6

      0
      1. If you’ve already got him, hold for now and hope he strings a few games together. If you don’t have him, I would not be trading him in.

        5

        0
  21. Ok last question for today. Is Jack Steele a keeper? Originally I thought I’d be upgrading Libba but now I view him as more of a keeper than Steele. I still don’t have Neale, Fyfe, Oliver or Zerrett, all of whom I’d put above Steele at the moment.

Currently have Steele at M5, Libba at M6 then Walsh and 1 on field rook.

TU – Steele is a keeper

TD – early upgrade to Lloyd or to strengthen forward line which is very very average at the moment.

    11

    2
      1. Yeah seems to be the consensus. Was hoping he’d take the next step this year and was hopeful after his round 1 score. I’ll hold for now…

        0

        0
  22. Butters to stack &
    Constable to rocky?

Constable still have 150k to rise, but by the looks of things rocky could rise 150k himself, rocky a breakeven of 80 odd and constables still in the neg, pull the trigger or wait a week, thoughts gents?

    TU pull the trigger.
    TD don’t do it.

    1

    17
  23. Currently ranked 308. Looking to get Whitfield in asap so I stay up there. My trades for this week (will leave me with 26 trades)

    Crisp and Butters out
Whitfield and Rotham in (via DPP)

    T/U – Go for it
T/D – Hold fire and wait for cows to fatten

    3

    16
  24. Gawn out
    Mummy in
And with that extra cash swap Moore for Lloyd. Thoughts? When u compare mummy vs Moore and Lloyd vs Gawn it looks like most weeks mummy n Lloyd will out score Gawn and Moore by 30-40 pts minimum

    4

    10
  25. What happens with Marshall when Longer returns?

Any Saints fans that can provide advice.

    Westhoff-Marshall looks the goods otherwise.

    1

    0
    1. As a saints fan Marshall is the man we have been looking for for a while now. Saints patience with Longer (and Hickey last year) has to be all but done. Marshall – Poor mans Dean Cox! Ruckman with FWD tag – sign me up!

      1

      0
  26. Started with Goldy and the plan was/is to upgrade to Grundy after r13….have Gawn. But with O’Brien going so well, I’m thinking of banking the $390k from downgrading Goldy and turning one of the now fattened cow into a premo. O’Brien due to go up $140k over three weeks, and over the season, this will cost one extra trade only.

    T/up do it
    T down hold

    7

    8
  27. Butters —> Stack
    Sheed —> Neale

T/U – Yes, Sheed’s scoring will continue to be impacted by the return of Gaff
    T/D – No way, hold

    19

    2
  28. Is there any rookie yet to hit the bubble worth trading in? Had my eye on Stack, but that 100 will only affect his price for 1 week. He couldn’t break 50 in a midfield without Cotchin and Martin. Also, there’s seemingly no one ready to downgrade just yet.

The plan is to have no trades this week.

    TU: Save trades
TD: Get Stack (comment for someone else)

    16

    2
  29. I still have 30 trades left

TU Butters to Stack and Oliver to Neale
TD Butters to Stack and Crisp to Lloyd

    2

    18
    1. Neither sideways trade. Will both likely bite you on the arse!
Both had interrupted pre-seasons. By all means target Lloyd and Neale. I’d just find other ways to do that.

      Butters > Stack? Sure.
Getting O’Brien in (via Bines?) will also help generate the needed cash to make those moves quicker!

      1

      1
    1. If you believe Crisp is good enough to stay in your team all year (which i think the answer is yes) then don’t trade him out, wait until you can use money from rookies to bring Lloyd in.

      0

      0
  30. Is it worth going Treloar to Neale now? Have the cash and still have 30 trades. Treloar is likely to drop more cash this weekend, and Neale is unstoppable at the moment.
    TU:Pull the trigger
    TD:Don’t panic

  31. Hi coaches, Im a rookie and would appreciate some ideas. Im sure my FWD line is undermanned but dont know what to do. Happy with DEF Lloyd, Whitfield, Williams, Smith, Duursma, Clark (Hore, McKay)… and RUCK Grundy, Gawn (Sweet)
MID: Cripps, M & B Crouch, Taranto, Sheed, Libba, Walsh, Constable (Setterf, Scott, Gibbons)
FWD: Danger, Dunkley, Worpel, L McCarthy, Petruccelle, Drew (I/C Burgess and Balta)

$186K in bank, 27 trades left… [1 rookie corrective trade, Heeney to Worpel (oops), Dusty to Sheed (oops2)…]
    Thanks

  32. What’s everyone’s thought’s on Balta & Parker?
Balta looks like he could be in for a long wait for another game & not going to make any money. Just Bench warmer!

Parker’s BE as to Score looks like he isn’t going to make much more money?

    T/U For Hold
    T/D For Trade

  33. Don’t really like most of these but would love thoughts

Clark to hore, butters to Newman/stack/marshall

Clark to Lockhart (probably won’t play), butters to rockliff

Clark to hore butters to stack now /Ross next week then Parker to premo next week

  34. Hi Coaches!

Butters > Stack is a lock for my second trade of the season.

Not super keen on having to play any of Burgess, Petrucelle or Balta however Setterfield out for 2 weeks throws in a curveball. Need to start generating cash though so which option sounds best:

T/U: Setterfield > ROB (via Bines)
T/D: Setterfield > Rotham (via Burgess)

P.S Already have Hore in my backline

Let me know your thoughts, thanks!

  35. I went TU. They’re the two trades I’m likely making this week, depending on team drops.

May give one of Butters/Setterfield (dpp) more time and just go Stack/ROB, whichever feels bettter. I know what I prefer!

That would also allow me to go Dunkley > Marshall (if Longer’s not named this week. Not chasing, just believe the pattern will continue (for a while).

  36. Big decisions this week and am struggling on which way to go.
Feel like I need to move on a rookie or two due to BE / performance/ JS

    – Burgess (def) good JS but a slow burn and could loose value this week or next. Hore would be the choice for quick cash but not sure on his JS. Rotham no
    – Parker (fwd) JS questionable and might have maxed out
    – Setterfield (fwd) out for 2.
I like the O’Brien option with Bines but if I traded Parker it would leave me fielding Petrucelle and 2 doughnuts on the bench for the next 2 weeks
Setterfield would leave me with one bench cover and Parker on field
    – Butters (mid) this is the only one I feel good about and that is going to Stack. Should make money over the next few weeks
    – Gibbons (mid) just not enough return yet.

Really feels like chasing money with all the above but think at least one needs to be made this week as more will happen next week.

How much better would it be to have a quality def or fwd rookie on the bubble.

    Any advice welcome
    Thanks coaches

    1. Burgess I would be keeping, as his DPP is handy and has great JS. Slow burn, no risk in holding him.
Parker has good JS, but his price will likely hover around $220k. He’s made his $100k, so its worth moving him on.
Setterfield has the JS and has much more money to make, but is out for two (Carlton may argue this down to one). His DPP is also handy, and if you can afford to have him on the bench, keep him.
Butters also hold. Look at the previous 3 weeks of scores, they’re all great. I would be very surprised if he didnt hit his BE of 48 this week. If he struggles again this week, then Butters to Ross is an easy trade.
Gibbons, like you said, has some good games left in him, and will get to at least $200k, it will just take some time. Slow burn.

  37. Traded Hore to Parker after round 2, is it worth bring Hore back in for Parker?
    TU: yes
    TD: waste of a trade

  38. TU: Butters to stack
    Then
    Devon Smith to Marshall

    TD: Butters to stack
    Then
    Williams to Whitfield

    Appreciate the help 🙂

  39. 27 trades left. I can do Parker to Worpel.

T/U – do it. Got to get fwd rookies off the field.
    T/D – hold fire.

  40. TU Dunkley and Crisp out Whitfield and Hore in via DPP, upgrade rookie to Laird next week with the extra cash.
TD Keep them in the hope they come good.
    Thanks for the advice.

  41. So I’m wanting to do this trade, just double checking.
    Butters out stack in.
    Brodie smith out Whitfield in.

I’m keen on this due to having cash in the bank and Whitfield seems worth using it on. It’s a straight down up trade if done now, but probably a down down up later on.
Smith was a stepping stone to a premium defender and I think it’s obvious Whitfield is that defender.
If I do this trade all my other targets will be fallen premiums besides boak.

  42. Like many, my fwd line is the weakest. Setterfield suspension means would need Parker and Petrucelle onfield.

    Butters (bench) > Stack
    Petrucelle > R.Marshall

T/U yes – Marshall a potential fwd keeper
T/D no – Petrucelle can improve avg and earn another $80k

    3
  43. No Setterfield due to suspension and still got Greene lingering on the bench with Balta.

    Butters to Stack
    Greene to Worpel

    T/U – Yes
    T/D – No.

    1. Hasn’t tonned up since 2017 , but i get why you don’t want a crappy fwd rookie on field.

      Its tough

      1. Yeah it is, even if he averages 80+ I would take that. I might even upgrade Parker to him because ideally I don’t want to field him nor Petruccelle this week.

  45. Butters > Stack
Setterfield > Roham via Burgess DPP

250K in the bank, I’m able to upgrade someone like a Darcy Moore the week after.

    1

    1
    1. Or do I keep Setters since FWD rookies are dire and trade B.Smith to a Heeney or Boak via Darcy Moore’s DPP.

      1

      2
  46. Will Billings or Daniel end up in the top 6 FWD by the end of the year?

    Or will they both?

Looking at bringing one in for Setterfield.

    TU – Billings
    TD – Daniel

  47. Double downgrade this week –
    M. Parker to M. Hore (via DPP)
    Butters to Sydney Stack

Will then be able to upgrade Darcy Moore to Tim Kelly and Davies-Uniacke to Rockliff next week!

    T/U – Sounds great
    T/D – Too many trades

    1. Hold this week. To long of a week, Thursday-Monday games. Save your trades for late outs. Player coming back from injury, sickness etc. Stack might not be that good (js) anyway, but we get Ross and hopefully Corbett next week. So more options on the way.
Think this, downgrade someone to stack, get in someone else. Now on Monday carnage hits, danger, Kelly, worpal or Sicily etc are a late out and you potentially field a donut. Then next week stack gets dropped…
I’m just going to grab Ross next week, like his js better.

      1

      1
      1. But I wouldn’t trade any of those players if they were a late out?
I’m getting rid of Butters who is a chance to be dropped this week, and Parker to Hore, so if anything I’m giving myself more bench cover, making a bucket load of cash, earning quick cash after this round, and then bringing in two premiums next week

        2

        0
        1. I agree about Ross though, he does seem the better option than Stack, but stack will make 70k this week and if he holds his spot he’ll make another 30k the following week.

However i could bring in Rocky for LDU this week, along with Parker for Hore, just scared of Rocky getting tagged? Also LDU is more likely to get his breakeven than Butters and I don’t want to lose any money

T/U – Double downgrade this week and Double upgrade next week
T/D – Get rocky this week, then another downgrade/upgrade next week

  48. Thoughts on:

    Markov & Butters out
Stack and Premo defender (I.e Laird)
Would have $540k to spend on a premo.

    TU Go for it
    TD not worth two trades

    1. IMO upgrade/downgrades are always worth two trades proving that 1. You’re bringing in a rookie who will make 100kish. 2. You have enough to bring in a premium that you will keep all year (i.e. top 8-10 in that position). And 3. You’re not pulling the trigger too early on the rookies you’re trading out, but Markov and Butters must go!
Pull the trigger and don’t look back

    2. George.

I’m not sure how your team structures up but..

Looks like this year, defensive rookies ( Collins , Scrimshaw , Clark, Duursma, Hore ) are WAY more reliable on field than forward ones. they are all averaging 70/80 ppg.

Forward rookies are looking more likely to average 50/60 ppg.

Taking this into account, would it not be better to try to get a Forward Premo first? This would limit the Forward Rookies you are forced to field, and more than likely increase your on field points.

For me ,the sooner you can get those Forward Rookies upgraded the better. 🙂

I’m personally going to off load Parker before Butters.

Best of luck whatever you decide.

      1. Excellent food for thought!

I’m definitely open to the idea, the main question would be which forward to bring in?

I currently have Danger, Heeney, Kelly, Parker, Drew, Petrucelle (Setterfield & Burgess)

Trading in a FWD would also mean I lose the option to bring in Sydney Stack (unless I were to trade out Gibbons, Butters or B. Scott) as opposed to Markov.

What would your opinion be if i shifted Moore to the forward line in exchange for Burgess, then initiated the trade? That way I can still make the original trades whilst slightly bolstering my FWD line.

        Open to any/all options!

        Cheers,

  49. Have Devon Smith, but he’s not having the output of a premium forward. Heeney’s BE is 45, and his price may not be at these levels again.

    TU: Trade Smith for Heeney
    TD: Hold.

  50. Still have 30 trades. Know I’m definitely going to go Butters >Stack. Undecided on my next move though.

T/U Parker to Rotham, pocket the cash and target Whitfield next week
    T/D D.Smith to Boak.

  51. Finalising my decision to bring in a Premo defender this round, budget of $540k.

    TU – Laird
    TD – Hurn

Comment – Others (L. Ryan, Hurn, Sicily, Stewart, Suckling, Crisp)

Most of the above names are around the $520-$535k mark, so all very similar impact on bank.
