      1. Which premo do I go rowell to thinking titch? someone who can deliver consistently with the odd big score and he is quite cheap for his capability at the moment

        TU: Yes
        TD: No

          1. This makes sense price wise but hard to see why he improved this week in particular, going over the CBAs he’s been on the ball all season, didn’t seem to be any change of role, just seems like he didn’t have his usual clangers.

            1. mostly a change in mindset and confidence i’d say, his intensity was back up on the weekend so hopefully it stays that way!

          2. Still has a BE of 98, so you could wait and see how he goes this week at the Gabba, then pick him up still relatively cheap for his run of games in Perth.

    1. It depends on the results of scans.
Rowell wanted to return to the field after having shoulder popped back in but was over ruled by medical staff.
He is young and a such a prodigious talent that Gold Coast will likely take a conservative approach.
We will find out early in the week.

  1. I am just hoping for no injury enforced trades this week, that has ruined my prospects this year as no doubt many others too.

  2. My quandary is my trade strategy this week.
I have $500k in the bank.
However I had only 1 bench player play this week.
Do I bring in depth like Hibberd, Aarts or Morrison or do I upgrade Rowell and a rookie to two promos.
    Thumbs up – rookies
    Thumbs down – premoa

  3. Struggling. Rowell doesn’t help, hopefully Pickett comes back into the fold as I’d rather address my pitiful backline.

Through a bit of DPP trickery:

    T Brown > Aarts
    Brander > Ridley

but i need a fwd line player or mid to cover the spot any help would be great got about 345,700K

  5. Starcevich and Brown looking to make way this week. Aarts will probably come in as many Richmond premos out with injury so should hold spot. Not sure on who the upgraded player will be yet

  6. Sigh, looks like my week will be dictated by injuries. Rowell and Prestia injured as well as possibly Ceglar. On top of that have a lot of rookies that need the chop this week (Budarick, T brown and possibly starcevich who all have high breakevens). Also need to move on Viney as well.

On a positve note, Whitfield looks absolutely ripe for the picking this week. In an ideal world I could go Presita to whitfield and downgrade one of my rookies and pray to the gods Rowell plays this week. Dont like my odds though

    2

    3
  7. Whitfield a must pick this week at that price
    TU: Too classy not too
TD Not scoring enough and always injured

  8. Trading out Pittonett and Starcevich for Whitfield and a prem def under $560k. Wanted Lloyd but about $20k short. Already have Doc, Laird, Ridley and unfortunately Sicily.

    TU: Haynes
    TD: Maynard

    Comments: any one else?

    1. I think they look pretty similar, hard to see how you’ll go wrong with either at a push I think I’d go Maynard.

    1. Greenwood had the most CBAs for GC on the weekend. Playing in the hub. Currently the sixth ranked forward.

      Yeo the 61st ranked mid.

  9. Tough year for the mids – of the 20 highest priced mids to start the year, only 6 are in the top 20 for total points, including Boak, Gaff & Parker who very few picked.

  10. Out: Rowell, Naismith
    In: Ridley, Petracca

Apologies to those that already have them as I have just cursed them.

    1. Ridley is an interesting one. Only played 14 career games, and going at 88% DE. Not sure if that’s sustainable, but looks to be very good value if he can keep it up.

  11. So do we trade Rowell?

TU – yes, too much money on bench for too long
TD – nope, you’ll want him when he comes back

  12. TU;
    Rowell —> Treloar

  14. Seeing as Saints have got Freo and the Crows in the next fortnight and I have nothing to lose:

    Rowell -> Steele
    Stewart-> Butler

    28

  15. With $145k in the bank, could’ve easily just traded Rowell up to a gun premo. However, wanted to take a bit of a risk and be able to upgrade a rookie as well, keep in mind my main focus is winning my leagues so I like some PODs.

    Currently have gone:
    Rowell > McGrath
    Starcevich > Toby Greene
    $400 left in the bank

Or should I go the safer route:
Rowell > gun premo (leaning towards L Parker)
Downgrade Starcevich/T Brown to another rookie and worry about an upgrade next week

I’m currently leaning towards option 1, but keen on hearing thoughts.

    TU: Option 1
    TD: Option 2

    11

    19
      1. Yep, have currently changed to option 2 instead. Having Parker + $200k is too good to pass up. I should be able to make a single upgrade from a rookie to a premo next week with that cash in bank.

        3

  16. Bah, Rowell’s injury has thrown a wrench into my aggressive trade plans. Had really counted on Rowell being a keeper and only having to fill two MID spots – still secretly hoping he’s fine.

Assuming he isn’t though, I’ll be going:

    Rowell -> Yeo
Starcevich -> Butler (via Brander DPP)

That second trade is contingent however on Brander returning and Rivers not getting dropped.

    Sound good?

    8

    3
  17. Struggling with the trade off between ‘one up one down’ for cash generation or getting two premos in for points.

If I go ‘one up one down’ I can get Fyfe in next week (not fussed if he returns this week, his BE is 153). My feeling is Tom Mitchell will go large against the pies.

Just concerned of leaving money in the bank when I’m playing for points / rank.

TU: Rowell and Viney to Mitchell and Lloyd (via DPP) ($43,700 left over)

TD: Viney and Budarick to Mitchell and Aarts ($268,300 left over)

    20

    1
  18. Budarick -> rookie (probably Aarts seems like the best option for a downgrade this week)

TU: Starcevich -> Simpkin (via Rivers)
    Leaves me with $59,200

    TD: Starcevich -> Laird
    Leaves me with $108,800

Noble, Brander, Rowell, Pickett and Bennell on the bench so unless they play I’ve got no cover. Any suggestions are welcomed

    16

    2
    1. As a Lions man, I don’t think Starce is going to post a low score again and is a good chance to go close to his breakeven. FWIW, I’m keeping him in for another week. It might assist you if you wanted to swap out Rowell to avoid potential donuts.

      4

      0
      1. Thanks mate, I think I’ve come to realise that sine posting this. Is it worth taking care of ether Noble/Brander before Rowell so I can have bench cover? Budarick a must trade also?

        0

        0
        1. Brander might be back in the side this week but it might be worth downgrading/upgrading noble this week. Though Rowell is out for three months so its probably best to trade him and maximise points on field.

          2

          0
        2. Brander and Noble have got money to earn if I recall, but if you’re struggling fielding a side, perhaps. Signs point to Noble maybe coming back in this week, while no one seems to know much about Brander’s injury. Budarick I’m holding for the moment due to his DPP (same as Brander) plus even if he doesn’t meet his BE he probably won’t lose a heap of cash – I’m backing him in to get close.

Some of your bench will get a gig this week, so have a few contingencies for when teams get named.

          1

  19. Parfitt anybody? M/F with a 105 average and priced at 474K. Seems to be playing primarily in the guts. Not a bad smokey.

Depending on teams and injury news I’m thinking of doing the following:
Rowell to Aarts, then some roster switcheroo to allow Starcevich to Parfitt, which should give me enough in the bank to see how Yeo goes this week and then go straight from Townsend to Yeo. Hoping there’s no more injury news between now and then.

    8

    4
    1. Look I believe in Parfitt, other than not being able to kick he’s fantastic in most other aspects especially his tackling what you’ll always be worried about is injuries, love to ping a hammy, maybe he’s matured to a point where it’s not an issue but he has missed a game for tightness already, the other little concern is his 3 games have all been in wins.
Geelong do seem to believe in him over all their other young mids.

    On chopping list
    Noble
    Starcevich
    Brander
    Rowell
    Rozee
    Budarick
    Pickett
And only have $700 in bank. Can anyone give me a clue as to how to tackle this?

Rowell to any mid under $580K – lots of good options here, take your pick!

  23. Ceglar (BE 124 ) has to go.

He just didn’t look right this week, ( maybe carrying an injury ? )
He seemed to spend more time forward, and McEvoy was taking the CB”s.

With the revised fixture he will now ( If fit ) be facing, Grundy and then Gawn, in the next two weeks.

I like ruck cover but….I’m not sticking around to find out how that goes.

Both these guys should feature heavily in the “Fallen Premiums”
post later in the week. I passed on starting them, Whitfield due to $$ and durability. Yeo.. I didn’t really think could make top 8/10 mid.

Now there so cheap I don’t care. They could both go 105+ from here.

    So who would you choose?

    T/U Whitfield.

    T/D Yeo.

    15

    14
    1. Thanks Peeps.

With Rowel now looking gone for the year.

I think Ceglar may have to wait a week. I will loophole him and hope he doesn’t lose too much cash.

Yeo still coming in, for Rowel at this stage.

      Thanks again.

      1. Yeah, getting parked up FWD too much. A great of the game but not of SC anymore. Put up scores of 83, 101, 75, 140, 104 and has lost 70k – that’s a no from me.

  24. Currently have 450k in the bank.
T/U: Should I stick to the usual 1 up, 1 down and go with Narkle/Rowell to Yeo and T Brown to J Aarts. Would leave me with about the same amount of cash in the bank.
T/D: Or go all out with Pitt to Gawn and Narkle/Rowell to Yeo. Would leave me with about 100k afterwards.

  25. Rowell > Luke Parker
    Starcevich > Aarts
$200k left in bank for an upgrade to Yeo/Toby Greene/other (depending which rookie I trade out) next week

TU: Good move, Parker is a consistent 110+ and POD
TD: Other mid premos are better

    TU Yes
    TD No

    1. FYI i have also traded out fyfe this year so bringing him back in feels a waste of a trade and I could spend more money elsewhere also dont trust fyfe being injury prone
My premo mids are currently: Neale, Cripps, Bont, Cogs, Yeo

  34. Hey all, round 5 was my first round of SuperCoach ever so I’m open to feedback on my strategy.

I’m thinking of defensive trades this round to secure some cash for some bigger trades next round. I have Rowell and Bont in mids who I would like to trade out, but I don’t have salary cap wriggle room and feel I’ll get better trades in moving them next round (Bonts BE is 109 against Carlton, not terrible). I am pretty confident in:

    B.Smith > Whitfield (pocket $18,400)

    But tossing up:
TU: T.Brown > Vendermeer (pocket $6,000) – main reason here is mid scoring for round 6
TD: Picket > Aarts (pocket $72,000) – frees up a lot of cash for a better mid for Rowell

    Cheers

    1

    6
    1. Hi MTCHL – I assume B.Smith is Bailey, who you should keep unless he gets ruled out this week (and even then sconsider holding). Try to avoid trading your premiums unless they have a long term injury. Keep Pickett too, he’s almost certain to play this week and has more cash to make.

Trade Brown to Aarts via DPP as your first trade. Without knowing your full team and bank it’s hard to say what your second trade should be, but Whitfield is a good option this week if you can raise the cash. Otherwise someone like Jack Mahony might be a good downgrade option.

      Good luck!

      6

      1. Thanks for the response, Chillo! I appreciate your suggestions.

You’re correct in assuming I was referring to Bailey, and I meant Kropinyeri-Pickett, my apologies.

I’ve done what you suggested and traded Brown to Aarts (via Mahony), and I also traded Rowell for Whitfield. This leaves me with $141,800 in pocket to maybe move Rivers out next round.

        4

        0
    2. Hey, MTCHL.

      Couple of points:
      – You’ve missed the boat on Vandermeer, he’s already made 100k. So no point trading him in. You want to look for rookies who haven’t had a price increase (2 rounds this season); it’s called being “on the bubble”.
      – Hold Bont, just got tagged last week. Don’t be fickle with premos, they don’t need to be assessed week by week unless there’s a downward pattern of scoring or severe role change. Bont scored a 166 the week before, he’s a great MID to have OA.

As to what trades you can make this week:

Pickett -> Aarts, like you suggested, looks very good unless Pickett is back – in which case, trade out another non-playing MID rookie. Plenty of room at Richmond rn, so Aarts’ “JS” (job security) should be solid. Unlike Vandermeer, you’re getting Aarts BEFORE he’s gone up in price.

Gotta cover Rowell, so you could then go Rowell -> any solid MID you can afford. Feel free to get everyone’s thoughts on your options.

Hope this helps, best of luck.

      6

      1. Hey Gunboat, thanks for the response mate! I appreciate the advice regarding the rookies and premos.

        Cheers.

        1

    3. Comments earlier all make sense. SC rule no 1…..never sideways a champ after one bad game. Bont was 166 r4. Aarts is no brainer this week. Rowell to whoever you fancy depending on price but Yoe with his price and run of home games looks the goods for me.

      4

  35. T/u – Rowell and Viney to Ridley and 580k mid (Simpkin, Steele, Danger)
T/d – Rowell and T.Brown to Ridley and Arts (200k in bank)
    – Essentially is it more important to prioritise cash gen to cull a dead rookie and bring in Arts or to trade out Viney for a premo?

    2

    8
    1. Hey, Andy. Hope you’ve been well.

Viney probably not the biggest issue rn. Fine for him to be M8 by the end of the season tbh and, if you’ve got the trades, you can deal with him then.

For now, go for the cash generation.

      7

      1
  36. Trying to resurrect by backline and cover a few injuries along the way. Good thing I’ve got a few DPP’s I can shift around.

    Moves I’m thinking of making:
    Starcevich to MID
    Budarick to MID
    Brander to FWD
    Rowell -> Ridley
    Narkle -> Coffield

$133K in the bank. Yes I could spend it this week on a better defender, but I’ve got more upgrades over the next couple of weeks lined up that I can use the cash with. Yes, it means I’ll cop a few DNP’s short-term, but I need a few more dependable backline soldiers. Leaves me a little short in the mids for this week, but I’ve got quite a few MID/FWD DPP’s I can swing around if needed and my FWD’s are not too far away from what I think the final lineup might be.

    Assumptions to this move:
*Brander will be recalled relatively soon
*Rowell won’t be back for a long while (duh)
*Budarick will be dropped this week
*Starcevich will go back to average this week and get close to or reach his breakeven again.
*Narkle will be dropped again or continue to underperform
*Ridley & Coffield are permanent best 22 players now

Of course this plan will likely go to shite once teams are named.

    TU: Sounds OK
    TD: Could do better
Comment: What I could do instead

    2

    4
    1. Hey, Maaz.

Really like Rowell -> Ridley, think it’s wise to get some DEF keepers given the tenuous crop of rookies we’ve got back there.

Not a fan of the Coffield trade though. You’re just chasing last week’s points, which isn’t wise. Haven’t seen enough of him to warrant consideration and, bear in mind, in the weeks prior he scored 73, 62 and 53 – noty.

If you’re set on prioritizing your DEF line with Ridley and a 350k~ pick, grab Doedee or even Hill instead.

      Best of luck.

      10

      0
      1. Yeah, I’m not expecting Coffield to ton up each week. But he’s been on my watchlist since the start of the year.

Doedee is yet to win me over since his return and Adelaide’s defence scoring is down as a whole and I’m not convinced it will pick up even with going back home. Plus I saw Doedee against my Lions a few weeks back and he stunk it up. Of course St Kilda’s form streak might come to an end, but I view their game style as more sustainable than say Gold Coast. Sure Doedee has the runs on the board, but I figure you’ve got to take a few punts. My gut feel is Coffield is ready to take the next step. Mind you I thought that about Narkle too!! 😀

Bailey Williams is another candidate around the same mark, but is of course another $40K dearer.

Hill is on my never again list – too injury-prone.

        0

  37. Call me crazy but Matt scharenberg is a cheeky little pod selection at $273,700. First game back in a while and scored only 69 but he has proved to be a consistently decent scorer in the past. Also with howe out he will fill that same sort of role and his job security seems to be strong.

    T/U: good option
    T/D: bad option

  38. Coming off an absolute shocker of a week where I went down 10k places. Jesus this game can be brutal.

    Rowell > Lloyd
    Nobel/Budarick > Aarts

This is dependant on Nobel getting his spot back in the Collingwood team, which got absolutely demolished by the Bombers pressure. I have the option to trade Rowell to any prem midfielder (considering McCluggage/Fyfe/Yeo) but I feel that getting Lloyd under the 600k mark is too good to pass up. Thoughts?

    7

    0
      1. My only hesitation with bringing is Yeo is that Lloyd is a guaranteed 100 points week in, week out whereas Yeo’s been unreliable thus far. Also, can you realisitcally say Yeo will be within your top 10 midfielders this year? Do you want him in your team come finals time?

        5

        0
        1. Hey, LG. Yeo’s a solid bet imo, comes in for Rowell this week for me.

He’ll find some continuity once the Eagles get back to Perth, especially with a potential run of 7 games at home. Given the shorter season, I wouldn’t be assessing MIDs on whether they’ll be “top 8” either. You’re probably going to have to settle for discounted picks at M8, D6 and F6 this year. Especially in the midfield, where there’s no way you’ll be able to fill your MID line 8x 600k+ top shelf premos without compromising other lines.

          8

          1
          1. Fair points all around. Looks like it’s a Rowell > Yeo and either Budarick/Noble to Aarts for this week. Cheers gents

  39. Dilemma/Supercoach 101 basic advice please. Have Rowell & S Edwards to trade this week, after having to trade Fyfe & Howe last week, with rookies galore either not performing or not playing (T Brown, Budarick, Brander, Pickett)… Which way do I go this week?

TU: you have to replace Rowell & Edwards with 2 premos
TD: 1up 1 down; Brown/Bud 1 of them has to be moved on before they drop

Comment: Is TD more attractive if Pickett plays? (would make mids Neale, Cripps, Gaff, Macrae, Danger, Pickett, McInerney, Brown/Bud)

  40. Content with my first proposed trade of Rowell-Ridley.

Second trade, giving some thought to JSteven given it looks like he might be coming back into some form with a 90 and be a better onfield option than a lot of our rookies. Or it could just be some impending lockdown craziness.

    TU – Brown-Aarts + cash
    TD – Brown-JSteven

  41. Can i have some insight from essendon and collingwood fans i have to choose out of ridley and maynard but am not sure who to go, ridley allows me an extra 80k in the bank but im not sure if either of them can keep there form up. Looking at stats maynard seems like he needs atleast 20 disposals a game to ton up and i just dont know if he can keep up that rate and with ridley im worried about connor mckenna coming back and hurting his score aswell as him not being able to hold his average.
    TU: Maynard
    TD: Ridley

    1. i’m a mad bombers fan and have had Ridley all year. His strengths are intercept marks, and de. Reckon he would be amongst the highest for pts per disposal which means he only needs 16-18 disposals to score well. Price is now tricky, and without Howe, Maynard might score better.
I dont see how you can go wrong with either.

    2. I actually think Maynard is more likely to keep this up than Ridleys is but the price swings it back in Ridley’s favour.

  42. I’m kinda stuck.
So I went Rowell (rest in peace) to Neale cause I had 400K+ in the bank and im not too sure what to do with my other trade.

Does anyone know if Cogs’ role is changed now from being a forward to being on the ball because he’s close to being on the chopping block

    Cheers

    1. Hey, Jet.

I was warning everyone about this at the start of the year. GWS explicitly said Cogs would have more FWD time, even games where he’d have a 60:40 split. With Taranto set to return soon, things will only get worse.

      He’s gotta go.

  43. What’s everyone’s thoughts on Jarryd Lyons as a replacement for Rowell?

    Price is $563,300
    Has an avg of 112.2
    With scores of 115,92,114,116 & 124 in the 1st 5 games.
And only in 1% of teams.
Thinking he might be a good POD.
    Thoughts?

TU – Yeah, sounds pretty good.
TD – nah, there are better options.

    Cheers.

  44. Have gone Budarick to Aarts and have cash to trade Rowell to anyone. Am looking at a bit of a value pick and I’ve narrowed it down to two. Both pretty good value for their potential output in my opinion. So who do you think scores better from here on in? (discounting the double-up Ess v Melb game – if the resurgence of COVID-19 doesn’t completely kneecap the season )

  45. With Rowell only playing 5 games…..gonna be cheap again next year if he doesn’t play any more. Gotta be thinking ahead !!!

    1. There will be but Lambert won’t get it IMO
Tigers omitted Shai Bolton last week even though he’d been playing well in his forward role and played him through the guts in the scratch match.
(They did this last year with Caddy, dropped him so he could learn the wing role)

I suspect Bolton and which ever young guy they bring in, probably Jack Ross, will get a lot more midfield time.

Jack Graham was also out of the team last week.

Another question is who gobbles up Houlis backflank points and who are they replacing him with in the side?
Got my eye on Short to get a point boost but not sure which young guy they bring back in.

    1. Have taken a risk and gone with Mills myself. Cheap, low BE, POD, and can’t see him getting terrible scores, he’s at the very least a 80+ guy a week. Gives me alot more flexibility for the next few weeks with over $250k in the bank, and shores up my DEF with Ridley now as D5 and Williamson my only DEF rookie on field.

I personally think you have to takes some risks sometimes in SC, ultimately it’s what makes the game a lot more fun. I think Mills is one of those risks, and I’m hoping it pays off.

  47. Hello Coaches!
    What does everyone think of:

    Rowell to Fyfe?

Obviously considering he gets back in this week (which the coach has indicated this week that he might!) – Do you think his role might be more fwd based now that he comes back from injury?

    Cheers.

    1

    3
    1. Hey, Max.

Wouldn’t be bringing Fyfe in this week. Assuming he’s named, he’ll almost certainly have managed minutes and cop a tag from Steele. His BE is 153, so you can upgrade elsewhere and grab him in a week or two – you don’t want to be paying 670k for someone in a shortened season.

  48. Rowell and Budarick out for Neale and Aarts, but be left with only 7k in the bank.

    TU- do it
TD- wait for Neale’s price to drop abit more and go with another premium this week (if so who should I go for?)

  51. So im undecided what to do with Rowell.
    I’m weighing up between:

TU – Trade to a POD mid like Jarryd Lyons or Mitch Duncan.

    Or

TD – Trade to Whitield and bank the extra 30k. Then plan to flip him to the FWD line in the future. Thinking he will still be a top 6 FWD and if comes good and won’t be as cheap as this again. Only $441,200 right now.

    Thoughts please.
    Cheers.

  62. I am looking for a premo Mid in for Rowell this week. It needs some work on that line, so I may have to miss Ridley this week, but I think my Defence is reasonably fine for now.

    My team:

DEF: Doc, Sicily, Laird, Short, Doedee, Starc (Rivers, O’Connor)
MID: Cripps, Macrae, Danger, ROWELL, Cogs, Simpkin, Budarick, McInerney (T.Brown, Pickett, Bennell)
    RUCK: Grundy, Gawn (Comben)
FWD: Dusty, Whitfield, Smith, Bewley, Taylor, Brander (M.King, Sturt)

My options are like Steele, Parker, Duncan, Yeo so far to replace Rowell. Thoughts? I planned to go T.Brown to Aarts via DPP to get some cash generated for the upgrade also.

    1. I’d be bringing in Parker in a heartbeat. Super solid all season. Massive POD potential.

Bringing in Aarts for the cash is no concern. I’ve done exactly the same. But didn’t have enough in reserve for Parker. I went with Steele. If I had the money, Parker was my target.

      1

      0
    2. Steele or Yeo if you think money will be an issue, I think Parker & Duncan will drop a run of poor scores like they have ever other year

      3

      0
      1. With the forward and ruck shortage with the Swans at the moment, I’m betting Parker sees a sh$tload more of the ball. The team isn’t winning, but the mids are pushing both back and forth, more ball, more points.
