    1. Hi Red5, I was thinking about Walsh as well, but he has been playing so well and would have to be shortlisted to be tagged soon. When he is eventually tagged it will be interesting to see if he can still score or will his scores drop. (Brayshaw is a good example of a young player being completely shutdown by a tag) I actually hope Walsh does do well because he is going to be a great player and a future captain. But for supercoach’s sake I have decided to bring in Oliver instead. Good luck if you go with him mate, Snarfy.

    1. Hey Joey, I would try to get both in but I feel like Macrae atm is on targed to be top scoring midfielder. Definitely try to get Steele in soon but feel like Macrae is a must buy

      10

      1
    2. Steele sounds a good trade.

I’m assuming that’s Finlay Macrae, I would wait another week after his played his 2nd game.

Wait for team drop on Friday and see which Rookies are playing that’s on the bubble.

  2. Some fallen premiums looking tasty: Brayshaw, Walsh, Neale, Satan and soon to be Danger. Good luck to all those with forced injury trades

  3. Was planning on an upgrade this week. I’m a non Ziebell owner. Is it crazy to cut my losses and bring him in at 475k?

    T/U Ziebell

    T/D Dusty

    1. Youre a roo supporter and you dont have Ziebell! Whats going on mate? As for picking him, who you upgrading/downgrading to get him. I think youll eventually need both but Ziebell is flying atm and you might have to pay big to get him soon. Dusty at the other end is a little on the low end and wont burn you if you wait a couple more weeks to get him I reckon

      15

      1. I started Dow over Ziebell to afford Butts as D7 cover. Was a wise move provided Dow averaged 70 and Ziebell 80 like forecasted. Obviously this hasn’t eventuatd. Ziebell Jake Lloyd on drugs

        5

        2
        1. Hindsight is 2020! Dow also burnt me from taking impey so i feel you. Butts has been handy though so take the wins where you can. Who you looking to trade to get dusty or ziebell?

    1. Whats the rush to move on Gulden? I definitely agree phillips has got to go but I think gulden can stay for a couple more weeks at least

  4. It’s going to be a close thing, but hopefully I can afford to go:

    Campbell to Lachie Jones
    SBerry to Neale

This will all change if Flynn is omitted because I am NOT fielding Treacy EVER AGAIN

    1. Do you feel that Neale has finally overcome his sore back? Or you going to wait for another week?

      12

      4
      1. I’m more worried about a Curnow tag this week than any “sore back” he might have. There’s a few other options I’m looking at

      2. Check out CT’s awesome work in the coaches box where he listed Fagans quote about Neale doing a full weeks training for the first time this year.

        Brilliant work CT.

Sounds like Neale may have turned the corner….

  5. Need some trade advice ill post my team below..

Lloyd, ridley, laird, doch, chapman, jones
    (Highmore, carruthers)

Macrae, satan, neale, walsh, hunter, gulden, campbell, powell
    (Berry, brockman, scott)

    Gawn, flynn (fullarton)

Dunks, dusty, tex, warner, rowe, bergman
    (Dow, jones)

Im copping donuts from flynn and have no cover for ridley next week if hes out. Is it time to move tex on? Should i target a mid upgrade? No idea what to focus on wish i had 3 or 4 trades this week!

    1

    1
    1. Ridley will miss next week with a concussion, so you’ve got to hope Highmore comes in (which I think is possible given how ass the Saints were) or trade him to a playing rookie. Don’t think you can get away with a donut @ D2.

Flynn almost certainly returns this week, so wouldn’t worry too much there.

Wait for teamsheets and trade accordingly, good luck.

      1. Thanks for the advice GD, a possible trade option ive been thinking for this week if highmore doesnt come in-

Gulden > f.macrae or other rookie
        Highmore > sholl

Is this a decent option? Gives me 6 playing defenders plus jones generating cash on the bench

        1

        7
        1. Hmm.

I’d sit on Gulden unless replacing him with a premo MID, as he’s a decent field option. Sholl tricky. His best performances (last and this week) were against the Roos and at home. Just wonder how he goes interstate v stronger opposition.

Let it stew over the week.

          8

  6. I know Campbell still has potential to grow but since I don’t have any injuries to deal with, I might take the opportunity to cull him early and bring in Jones on the bubble. That will allow me to upgrade Taranto to Steele. Leaves a Macrae, Neale, Clarry, Merrett and Steele midfield which I think is 5/8 must haves by year end. Alternatively I can trade Kosch for Jones and bring in Walsh.

T/U Cull early and bring in Steele
T/D Hold Campbell and instead trade Kosh and get Walsh

    13

    11
    1. No problem going early on a rookie to bring in a MID premo, LG. I’m going the same this week.

      4

      0
      1. Agree…no prob with going a tad early if it means getting a premo….just gotta decide Gulden or Warner.

        1

        2
  7. Pretty stuck with what to do this week, only idea is to bring in Jones. Please let me know what you guys have in mind or suggest doing!
    86k in bank
Def – Ridley, laird, Stewart, Daniel, Chapman, kosi (highmore, sharp)
Mid – Oliver, bont, Merrett, Cripps, Taranto, gulden, Powell, jordon. (Berry, Scott, brockman)
    Rucks – gawndy (flynn)
Forward – dunks, dusty, ziebel, Warner, Campbell, Rowe (Bergman, waterman)

    2

  8. Well after trading in Hickey to save a donut in the ruck (which Clark made certain it would happen anyway), he’s gone and screwed his knee up. I had Draper who got injured, Meek probably won’t get picked again, Flynn’s chances look slim and now Hickey. So I’ve burned like 3-4 trades on my rucks.
Also had Caldwell and Heeney break down on me as well as far.

So I don’t know what the bloody hell to do with my trades here.

DEF – Laird, Short, Daniel, Jiath, Cox, Jones (Clark, Highmore)
MID – Macrae, N. Fyfe, Merrett, Petracca, Taranto, Gulden, Powell, Campbell (Jordon, McNeil, A. Fyfe)
    RUC – Gawn, Hickey (Flynn)
FWD – Dunkley, Martin, Ziebell, Phillips, Warner, Rowe (Brockman, Scott)

    $156.9k and 24 trades remaining

Call it overexaggerating if you want , but if I have another weekend like last week I’m probably gonna quit for the year. Going through last year was bad enough, if it’s the same this year that’s me done because I’m not gonna bother myself through the stress anymore.

    5

    1
    1. Mate, hang tight. I had Heppell Caldwell, Draper, Danger, brought in Marshall for his dpp for Draper, have held Daniel and copped a Clark donut this week !! You are not alone in your dilemma. Its not fair on other punters if you drop out now.

      5

      0
        1. Because if you don’t try to improve your team, and thus miss out on injury cover and upgrades, those who have yet to play you will have a significant advantage over those that have.

          1

          0
    2. I am considering handcuffing Mummy with Flynn to solve the Hickey problem. One of them should play every week barring injury. Similarly priced so its just a sideways trade if Mummy plays over Flynn this week.

      3

      2
    3. Hey mate,

Drop Phillips to Fin Macrae or Mcreery and trade Hickey to Grundy asap!

Best of luck and hang tight 🙂

      1

      0
    4. Phillips to Treacy. Hickey to Grundy..

When Flynn has fattened up switch Treacy to the Rick line and upgrade Warner to a premium.

Scoot to Fyfe and bring in a bubble boy to FWD LIne.

  9. Is it too early to chop Warner?
I can go Warner to Dusty this week. Thoughts..

    Tu; Do it
    Td; hold Warner

    7

    43
    1. Absolutely hold Warner.

Still has money to make and a great field option, this has been his only down week and it was still a 50.

      Find the funds elsewhere.

  10. Clark or highmore coming back this week by any chance? Not a fan of doughnuts (the score not the snack!!!)

    8

    1
    1. Could be because I want it to happen lol, but thinking Highmore comes back.

Entire Saints defence bar Howard were heinous and Long, in particular, was just spudding it up. Saints to swing the axe and Highmore to come in for Long as a medium sized DEF.

Cats play the Saturday, so we’ll know by Friday whether Clark’s back. Either way, I’d have no problems sacking him. Been at HF more than on a wing or at HB. Grab Jones if you don’t have him.

      8

      1
      1. Great thanks GD gotta get rid of Howe in backline will definitely bring in the Mullet Man Jones! Fingers crossed for Highmore.

        3

        0
      2. Tom Highmore had 16 disposals in the VFL for 95 points and with the injury to Jimmy Webster he must be a chance to return.

        10

        0
      3. Think your right GD…if he doesn’t play this week, he never will. All that lovely cash to be had too. Lets hope FUBR has a clue !!

        1

        0
    1. For me personally, I think it’s as good as ever to bring in Neale. Perfect time to have faced the bombers, get some form back and kickstart Brisbane back to playing their best. Although a Curnow tag this week is probable …

      8

      1
  11. Ranked in the top 1,000 but have used 7 trades so far. Is Jones (PTA) a must this week? Or best to conserve trades?

    TU: Dow > Jones
    TD: Save the trade

    30

    11
    1. I’d say Jones a must have but 7 trades already is dicey. Tell us your DEF line to see of you need the depth and cash gen.

      2

      2
  12. 2 donuts in a row thanks to Flynn
My other ruck is Grundy (sub Amartey).

TU: cover my bases and have Mumford too.
    Howe + Amartey > Scholl + Mumford

TD: Bring in Gawn and have Flynn make money on the bench
Howe + Amartey > Finn MacRae + Gawn (via DPP)

    1

    32
    1. Give Neale one more week to confirm he’s over his injury concerns. He probably gets Curnow tagging him this week so can afford to wait.

      4

      0
  13. Probably my only opportunity to bring in Macrae in this week, so I’m thinking
    T/U J.Clark > L.Jones
    T.Tarranto > J.Macrae
T/D Too early to cull both and save a trade
    McNeil > L.Jones (via DDP)

    3

    20
  14. Campbell to Jones via DPP
    Gulden to Neale

Maybe Gulden can put up another decent score for cash gen… but grabbing Neale at 580k is something I’m not willing to pass on and Gulden is the only way I can fund that trade

    14

  15. I need a bit of advice,
Not really sure if I need to make a trade this round unless Clark is omitted

DEF: Lloyd, Laird, Stewart, Short, Bowes, L. Jones (Kosi, Briggs)
MID: Steele, Macrae, Oliver, Merrett, Gulden, Powell, Campbell, Berry (J. Clark, Scott, Downie)
    RUCK: Gawn, Grundy (Flynn)
FWD: Martin, Ziebell, Impey, Warner, Rowe, Bergman (Waterman, Brockman)

Maybe Campbell out with a BE of 53?

    1

    0
  16. Was originally thinking Oliver this week, but now might grab Macrae instead. I’m concerned that if Mac pumps out another massive score he might be unreachable, whereas Oliver might float around the 600K mark for a few more weeks…
    TU: Oliver
    TD: Macrae

    3

    26
  17. What do we think of sidebottom? Hes pretty cheap for his ceiling but has a poor average. Favourable games coming up is he going to be good enough this year or a steer clear?

    2

    22
  18. I have houston, ridley, j Clark and sharp in my backline, alot of headaches this week lads, wish me luck

    21

    1. I hear you PCT !! ..I have the Same, plus Cerra & Hickey ( just bought him in for Meek) with Butters ( like $ ITB ) on the pine. Where the hell do I start ? If nothing else SC is definitely character building !!!

  19. Gday fellas,
Looking for some advice on what to do at the moment with the mob.

As it stands I am running this:

    DEF:
Lloyd, Stewart, Short, Bowes, Daniel, Jiath (Clark/Highmore)

    MID:
Oliver, Zerrett, Trac, Walsh, Taranto, Gulden, Powell, Berry (Jordon/McNeil/Brockman)

    RUC:
    Gawndy (Flynn)

    FWD:
Ziebell, Impey, Warner, Daniher, Rowe, Scott (Treacy/Chugg).

I have 48k in the bank and 24 trades left. At this stage Clark was used to cover Daniel this week (whoops) and is now can’t be moved from my DEF bench without a trade.

I had a few ideas in mind.

    T/U – Clark and Taranto to Macrae/Dunkley and Jones/Mansell
T/D – Clark and Brockman to Mansell/Jones and McCreery via DPP

Comment for any suggestions or reasons. I’m not overly keen on the trades as I’m going through them a bit but can justify it as I’m hitting my ideal team earlier and can save later for injuries. Feel like if I don’t get Macrae/Dunkley now I may never be able to.

    Cheers fellas

    4

    3
    1. If you trade Clark to L Jones, will you have enough to upgrade one of the forward rookies to Dunkley?

Much prefer that to trading out Taranto which smells of a luxury trade to me.

      1

      0
  20. Fires.

Im planning on using about 6 trades this week.

    I can only do 2?

    That’s unfortunate.

I probably have to wait until teams are named and then do trades to cover donuts.

Upside is over $600k spare so both can be premo upgrades.

    8

    1
  21. Is 4 Dogs too many? I have Daniel, Bont & Dunkley already, but have the opportunity to bring in Macrae, who is shaping up to be the number 1 scoring midfielder.

TU: Yes, that’s too many players from the same team
    TD: Nope, get Macrae in

    2

    42
  22. I have a few scenarios that depend on who gets named. 26 trades left and 300k in the bank.

If Jordan Clark isn’t named, I’m trading him to Walsh or Lloyd. If he is, I might keep him one more week.

After that I’m holding a trade until the Sunday lineups are announced and will either do Kosi/Highmore down to Jones, and maybe Brockman to McCreery if I have 2 trades.

TU – Upgrade Clark to a premo whether he’s selected or not.
TD – Hold Clark if he’s playing.

    17

    5
  23. Degoey for Jones
    then Phillips to –
    TU – Mcrae
    TD – Dunkley
    Comment for others

    Thinking Macca

    13

    6
  24. I’ll obviously wait for the injury report on Cerra but if he’s out for longer than 2 weeks than is it worth trading Philips and Cerra for MacRae and MacRae
TU Two Macrae’s for the price of one !
TD Take your hand away from the trade button, you’ll only be left with 20 trades.

    8

    12

  25. Hey guys. I’ve got Jordan Clark and I’m looking to trade him out alongside braeden Campbell to get a rookie and possibly Andrew brayshaw. Any thoughts?

    15

    4
    1. Brayshaw a bargain at $482k for a M8.
Next 4 out of 5 games at home. Other game away is with ESS.

      17

      1
  26. Have the cash for Brayshaw if I do one of the following

    T/U: McNeil to Brayshaw
T/D: Burgess to Brayshaw via DPP

    12

    2
  27. First trade is Campbell to L Jones via DPP, who to toss for Walsh?

    TU: Phillips & $200k leftover
    TD: Clark & $100k leftover

Comment: Steele over Walsh (although I’m aiming to have bulk cash available for Ridley and possibly Danger over the next few weeks)

    3

    6
    1. Taranto should be looked at trading when all rookies are off field. It’s a luxury trade at the moment.

      15

      0
  28. Due to all the injuries and various 0s to cover, I’ve sadly made it through 8 trades already so am slightly weary of anyway sideways work and wanted to just hold for a couple of weeks but I have the cash to go Cripps to Macrae as a straight swap so feedback please.

TU: Bring in Macrae as he’ll end the year as the top scoring mid
TD: Hold trades and potentially ride Cripps as M7/M8

    3

    22
    1. Thanks for the help with that decision everyone. My second query is about L Jones. I don’t have him but my backline is pretty solid with Ridley, Stewart, Laird, Daniel, H Clark, Chapman (Koschitzke, Highmore). I can bring Jones in for either Kozi or Highmore if neither plays or I could downgrade J Clark to him and swing Laird into the mids. Just wondering again:

      TU: Bring in Jones
TD: Hold the trade, a rookie isn’t a must have

      3

      10
  29. Since Port plays the very last game of the week, we won’t know if Jones is named before the Swans match. Many people doing the:
Campbell to Jones Via DPP and considering myself, is there any chance Jones isn’t named?

TU: safe trade he will be named
TD: not as safe as you might think, trade another rookie

    14

    6
    1. You’re right, this is a problem. The one hope we have is that Port in particular have been very good about making these announcements early in the week. Fingers crossed!

      6

      1
    1. Depends on your team. If you have more pressing issues (aka injuries or donuts) then don’t. Otherwise nothing wrong with bringing in Macrae. Taranto is a turnover machine and despite racking up the disposals each week, he barely gets to triple figures. Very very frustrating to watch and have. For these reasons his out of my team this week and most likely bringing in Steele.

      6

      1
  30. thinking of going koschitzke to jones a bit early, thumbs up yes it’s a smart trade thumbs down wait until koschitzke has maxed out in price

    4

    13
    1. Was thinking the same, my logic is altho koschi maybe has a little more in him, jones is a must have defence rookie, and my only other spot is highmore who will cost money to upgrade to jones whereas koschi is still a slight downgrade. Also all we need is 2 games from highmore and he will probs have made more money than koschi.
So unless you have other players to trade out to jones i dont see any reason to hold koschi, jones will be much more reliable bench cover too

      0

      1
    1. Yep, I might have to. Ridley and Sharp are on my bench and there is a question mark on Jones’s fitness. To compound things, Brisbane will already have played by the time Jones is named or not. So yeh, if Clark plays I’ll keep him and trade Sharp.

      3

      0
  31. Trying to start upgrading. Clark was a pain last week and I want Jones in so I have 3 plans. Note that I’ve got 70k ITB and am down to 24 trades.
    1. Clark -> Jones and save the money or improve my D7

    2. Clark and CJ -> Jones and a premo. I hope CJ isn’t on the verge of a fall but trading him out after 1 rough game against Melbourne isn’t really fair. Could always go ahead with plan 1 and complete this part if he starts falling.

    3. Clark and Campbell -> Jones and Sholl or Impey (via dpp). Impey more consistent but Sholl’s breakeven is -2, and he could be a possible upgrade soon.

    TU: plan 1
    TD: plan 2
    Comment: plan 3
By the way what’s Jones’ job security like???

    4

    1
    1. I would go plan 3

Impey is still good value and looks a likely Keeper forward.
I only really trust Dunkley, Danger ( if fit) Dusty and Ziebell as forward Premo’s
Toby Green, Zorko, Marshall and Sidebum will be considered if I can get them cheap enough.
Tex has already done a calf, and will drop off as the weather goes to sh*t.
Impey looks a solid chance to average the same as anyone in that second tier.

      On Jones.

His JS looks very solid ( Butters and Duursma out )

He did hurt himself last week late but came back on.
He should be fine for this weeks game.

      Best of luck.

      4

  32. I am honestly lost this week, I want to get rid of clark and campbell and get in F. Macrae and Brayshaw, however, im about $1000 short! There are basically no other rookies to get in, other than Treacy ( might get dropped and shocking scores) or put in Mansell, who should get dropped soon.

I could get out Gulden, instead of one of, clark or campbell or I could go for a cheaper option, there isn’t much below brayshaws 490k price range.

only options I could think of are Sholl or Impey, however, I don’t love either.
    ugh!

    1. Pie Face.

What about one of your boys ?

McCreery $ 117k forward is on the bubble.

May just help you get that trade done.

      4

      0
      1. could actually be a very good option.

How long do you think he can keep his spot for?

some of the injuries may have helped his security.

Im always nervous to pick the wrong rookies with the new system of team releases, but do think he can stay in for a good couple of weeks.

        1

        0
        1. I have no real read on The Pies atm.

They probably should be playing youth, over guys like Mayne although he was one of there best on the weekend.

Their injuries should open up spots for young players but..

I’m sure Buckley is looking at the next month thinking they are all winnable games. ( ESS . GC . North . Syd ) His job is on the line, I think he plays his strongest side. If they lose a few , then he may start playing more kids.

I know its not much help on McCreery’s JS
He did make the most of his game time with 2 goals straight and 3 tackles.

Unless there’s a small Forward due back soon I think he holds his spot.

          3

  33. Not sure what my next steps are, 200k in the bank 24 trades left. Williams is one on the watchlist

DEF- Laird, Short, Z.Williams, L.Young (North), Chapman, Jones(Clark,Highmore)

MID- Macrae, Oliver, Merrett, Walsh, Cripps, Gulden, Powell, Jordan (Scott, Sharp, Bruhn)

    RUCK- Gawn, Grundy (Flynn)

FWD- Dunkley, Martin, Ziebell, Impey, Warner, Campbell (Brockman, Rowe)

Don’t think there are any rookies who are ready/worth being filled (maybe Campbell) but I don’t want to keep sitting on this cash for multiple weeks

    1

    0
    1. MnM

You could consider Clark to Brayshaw. via Sharp.

He won’t be this cheap for long and has North next week at home.

      Worth a thought anyway.

      7

      1
  34. Maccrae on fire but Neale is cheap!
TU Maccrae he is a gun
TD Neale and pocket extra coin for next week.

    20

    7
  35. Ok, so I’m gonna try this again without sounding like a stressed out, bipolar piece of you-know-what.

DEF – Laird, Short, Daniel, Jiath, Cox, Jones (Clark, Highmore)
MID – Macrae, N. Fyfe, Merrett, Petracca, Taranto, Gulden, Powell, Campbell (Jordon, McNeil, A. Fyfe)
    RUC – Gawn, Hickey (Flynn)
FWD – Dunkley, Martin, Ziebell, Phillips, Warner, Rowe (Brockman, Scott)

    $156.9k and 24 trades remaining

Obviously Hickey is at the moment the main issue of my plethora of problems. Clark, Campbell and Phillips are the next biggest, but considering Hickey is out for 6-8 weeks is by far my priority of the things I need to fix

Someone did mention before that bringing in Mumford in for Hickey could be a good idea, which I think it is. That way I’ll have at least 2 rucks playing each weekend either way (apart from the bye round they don’t play). Plus Mummy is playing his third match this weekend and his price will shoot up if he has another standout game.

The thing is, I don’t know what I should do with the other trade. I wanted to upgrade either Clark or Campbell, because I need to start upgrading my team to improve. But I don’t have enough to get anyone that’s actually consistent. The best upgrade option I have after making the Mummy trade is bringing in Lachlan Sholl. He’s not bad or anything, and he’s done well. But I don’t think he’s premo material yet.
The other issue is that there’s not much downgrade options either. Most of the rookies who’ve played 2 games don’t look like getting picked, and I don’t like trading in new guys after one game only. The only one I can think of that’s likely to play their third this week is McCreery, but I don’t trust his JS chances 100% either.

So what do you guys think I should do. Downgrade, upgrade or only do the Hickey trade?

    1. Not so fast, Corey.

Mumford likely comes out for a rest this week and Flynn returns. Mumford will, at most, play two games in a row then be rested, so he’s not an option.

Wait for GWS teamsheets this Thursday night, then go from there. On Phillips, you could drop him for F. Macrae; giving you a bank of 418k~ which you could apportion wherever you like. Another premo MID perhaps?

Also, this is probably not want you want to hear, but I say it constructively and it has to be said: this is why you shouldn’t f*ck around with rucks when there are two so clearly a cut above the rest! Just lock Gawn and Grundy in!

      9

      1
      1. Oh I hope Flynn plays this week. Watching him is like owning Bitcoin. Watching ppl sell him for a little profit but I’m greedy so want more more more!!!!!

        1

        0
        1. Yeah, I think he comes back. Played through an ankle injury when it happened and the week after, just needed to recover and then return to match fitness.

          0

          0
      2. Yeah, but unfortunately there’s not too much better options with rucks within what I can afford.

And I don’t even know if Macrae is going to play this weekend. Didn’t score that well, which I’d assume he wasn’t a highlight in their loss to West Coast. I didn’t watch it, so I don’t really know. Plus wouldn’t that be weakening my forward line getting rid of Phillips for a rookie?
I understand downgrading a peaked first-year or cash cow, but Phillips would be someone I’d rather upgrade.

And I’d rather you be blunt about things than softening things to make things less “offensive”, which is what I’ll do back haha.

I’m not disagreeing at all that they’re the two best rucks in the competition. But, and if you want to call me cheap then do so, I will not pay $1.5 million on 2 rucks at the start of the season. I’m happy to wait until one of them drops in price a bit, but I’m not putting so much money into one area (which has way less players than the other positions) to leave me with not enough to even the others up in strength before the start of the year. It won’t happen with me, and if you want to call me foolish than so be it.

        2

        0
        1. I don’t hate the rucks you’ve been rolling with but any chance of doing Hickey to Grundy combined with Clark or Campbell down to someone else? You’ve saved a bit by capitalising on price rises but Grundy doesn’t look like dropping so might be worth just biting that bullet

          2

          0
          1. Which of these sound better to you then?

            1. Hickey and Phillips OUT, Mumford and Impey/Walker IN
            2. Hickey and Campbell OUT, Grundy and F. Macrae/McCreery IN
            3. Hickey and Clark OUT, Grundy and Mansell/Prior IN
            4. Hickey and Clark OUT, Mumford and Sholl/H. Clark IN

            1. Just not Mumford.

Like I tried to explain before, they’ve expressly said it’s beyond him to play more than 2 or 3 consecutively and Flynn likely returns this week.

              1. Yeah, listen to GD. Either 2 or 3. I’d lean 2 cause I think the magpies both might play for a bit but really any option that ends with Grundy is a win but like GD says, Flynn’ll probably play this week. He’s my R2 so I’m definitely banking on that myself so if you don’t want to trade you can try and keep the trades but Grundy should be coming in at some stage

  36. I traded out Clarke last round to get L Jones (to avoid the donut). I’m still running with only 4 mid premiums (Neale, Oliver, Merrett & Brayshaw) whilst I’ve had to deal with other dramas. This is the week that I want to bring in J Macrae. I’m not waiting any longer but it will cost 2 trades. One will be Campbell, and I don’t have enough cash for the 2nd trade to be Rowe, Scott, Jordan, McNeil or Berry.

TU: Trade out Campbell & Warner for J Macrae & a rookie
TD: Trade out Campbell & Gulden for J Macrae & a rookie

Comment for – one trade only and just go Warner or Gulden to Walsh instead (but I really want Macrae as he’s predicted to increase again this week!)

    5

    1
    1. Already have Brayshaw. Not a fan of Bolton. I can always do NO trades this week, hope for no more carnage, and aim for Macrae next week, when the 2 rookies to trade out will have increased by more than Macrae increases, but one of those rookies will still need to be Gulden or Warner….so I’d rather do it this week to get the Macrae points then wait and no doubt some other disaster will happen and I’ll need to do something else. And I’ll still only have 4 premium mids.

      TU: Macrae this week
      TD : Walsh this week

  37. Hi guys

I’m angry at myself for trading out Neale last week to get Ridley in! Anywho, this is my team below, only have $5,600 in cash. I think my trade is j Clarke out of defence and L Jones in but am interested in thoughts

    Lloyd, Ridley, Duggan, h Clarke, h Chapman, j Clarke, (j kosi, t highmore )

McRae, Dunkley, wines, Cripps, t Mitchell, gulden, t powell, j Jordan, (l McNeil, a Scott, c downie)

    Gawn, Grundy (Flynn)

    D Martin, t walker, j ziebell, c Warner, j Daniher, j Rowe ( m Bergman, t Fullerton)

    Thanking you in anticipation

    1. Hey, Jarrad. Nice team.

Yep, Clark -> Jones this week is good.

You’ve then got to look at how to get Dunkley in, comfortably the #1 FWD and will continue to kill you each week – I was having the same problem not owning Ridley and continuing to be punished by not owning Ziebell. Patching those kind of holes, as well as picking up any fallen premos, should drive your first upgrades.

Your DEF downgrade this week will leave you with 160k ITB and from there you’ll probably need two more downgrades to get you the cash for Warner -> Dunkley.

      Best of luck.

    1. Haven’t seen him play with Hurn.

Setting aside whether he holds his spot, Hurn guaranteed to eat away at his kick in and distributing economy. Also steadies the ship down back for us, so less for Witherden to accumulate.

If he manages to hold and continue to score well WITH Hurn, I’ll be the first to jump on – until then, look elsewhere.

  40. Morning guys and gals,

Looking for some advice on what to do at the moment with the squad. Last week traded out May and Dow to Short and Waterman.

As it stands my team looks like this:

DEF: Lloyd, Laird, Stewart, Short, Clark, L.Jones (Kosi, Highmore)
MID: Oliver, ZMerrett, Neale, Titch, Crippa, Gulden, Powell, Berry (Jordon, A.Scott, Downie)
    RUC: Gawn, Grundy (Flynn)
FWD: Dunkley, Ziebell, Warner, Campbell, Rowe, Waterman (Brockman, Treacy)
    25 trades left, $49,400 ITB

  41. Team Fishxma
Laird Stewart Mills Short Jiath Chapman ( Kozi highmore)

Macrae Merrett Taranto Martin Scholl Gulden Powell Jordan (Campbell Scott sharp)

    Gawn Grundy (Flynn)

Dunkley Tex Zeiball Impey Gulden Rowe ( Bergman Brockman

    24 trades and $107 k left

Thinking maybe tex b/e 95 to any mid under 600k (Oliver Walsh Etc) 1 trade or tex to Brayshaw and Campbell to Heppell?

Any advice or other suggestions would be great – thanks

    1. I’d be looking at Tex to Oliver! Take out his gws game where he was tagged out, he is clearly a steal for under 600k

  42. A. Sam Berry and Campbell > Neale & McCreery
    B. Tom Atkins > Dunkley

Tu. A. (Gets a rookie off field)

Also 30k short of substituting Dunkley with Neale in option A

  43. Torn between Brayshaw and Neale.

Brayshaw BE 117 but plays against the kangas this week and is 100k cheaper…

Neale BE 98 but likely to get the Curnow tag this week. Plus I’d like more confirmation that his back injury is better…

    TU Brayshaw
    TD Neale

    2

    9
    1. Also Neale means I trade Gulden for funds this week…

      Brayshaw means I trade Campbell.

I’d prefer to keep Gulden and hopefully he goes big against the Suns

    1. No it is not crazy but the only proviso is Lachie had a pretty tough game last week. He should be fine but watch for team news. I know Geelong play before teams for Sunday are released but Port are very good at releasing team news very early.

      ICYMI. From the Coaches box.
Lachlan Jones ( SC $139k DEF) – ankle. “Banged up. Lachy Jones is pretty tough. He played alright again tonight I thought Lach. If they’re looking for someone to award the Rising Star to, I reckon he’s pretty good!” Ken Hinkley

  44. Lots of talk about Brayshaw this week given his massive discount and playing North at home. Got the cash to bring in anyone this week, Wondering if it’s worth holding off a week on Steele?

    T/U – Give Brayshaw a run!

T/D – Steele will still be a gun against Port

    Cheers,

DEF: Lloyd, Laird, Daniel, Clark, Chapman, Jones, Koschitzke, Highmore
MID: Oliver, Zerrett, Neale, Walsh, Taranto, Gulden, Powell, Scott, Brockman, Downie, A Fyfe
    RUC: Gawn Grundy Flynn
FWD: Dunkley Martin Ziebell Impey Warner Campbell Rowe Waterman

I am still kinda lost as to what trades to do.
I was thinking of Taranto and Campbell to Mcreery and Bont
I was also thinking of Campbell to Mcreery and then leaving a trade spare
All my rookies apart from Campbell should increase in value?
    Any thoughts or suggestions

    1. That midfield bench is a real worry for mine, I hate doing sideways trades but is there any chance you would possibly entertain flicking a rookie to get some more cash generation/emergency points in?

Wait and see teams but I’d be looking at trading whoever is not named on that midfield bench for one of McCreery/Macrae/Prior(through dpp).

      1

  49. I think Neale is to cheap to pass up this week. Had always planned to get him in as early as possible prior to his terrible start, but it would mean trading out Gulden.

TU: Phillips & Gulden to Neale & L Jones

TD: Phillips & Berry to A Brayshaw & L Jones

    4

    6
    1. Wait and see teams to see if Swans rookies are rested but my initial thoughts are Gulden you have to keep- been most reliable on field rookie and playing Gold Coast this week with potential for more cash generation/reliable on field score. Although at the same time whenever you have the chance to get Lachie Neale in I think that must be strongly considered. Ultimately I think Gulden is a week or two short of being culled from SC sides. Would you potentially wait and see on Neale for another week?

      2

    2. I can’t understand the rush on Neale. He has played one good game in conditions that suit him, and against the bombers who don’t tag. His price is not going to rocket this week…I’m going to wait and see, especially as he will have the Curnow tag this week. Also you wont know until Sat night whether Jones is picked, and he got banged up last week. Houston likely to play which minimises need to keep Jones.
      Decisions !!

MID: Steale, Macrae(VC), Oliver, Neale, Gulden, Powell, Jordan, Scott (McNeil, Guthrie, Lazzaro)
    RUC: Gawn(C), Grundy (Hunter)
FOR: Dunkley, Martin, Hawkins, Campbell, Rowe, McCreery (Brockman, Waterman)
Lost on what trades to make here. Hoping Neale has turned the corner after his smelly start. Asked whether or not I should keep Hawkins last week (-$44.8K) and I clearly decided to hold, he’s now dropped $83.6K. Howe needs to go clearly but not sure whether to hold the Tomohawk or not. Clearly this squad needs serious help, any thoughts or suggestions?

  55. Great article. Plenty of good advice in there.
What’s everyone’s thoughts on Finlay Macrae and his job security?
I think the coach likes him and with Adams being out for a while and their problems up forward, I think he might get at least half a dozen games.
I’m thinking of trading him in early (if Fin is named) through Braeden Campbell and then upgrading Simpkin to Jack Macrae. Simpkin is not working out and I cant see him outscoring Macrae from here.
Trading in 2 Macraes, you can’t go wrong…..Right ? haha

  57. Going for Ziebell or Brayshaw this week
    Either-
    T/U Campbell/Gulden > Brayshaw/Macrae
    T/D Campbell/Warner > Ziebell/Macrae

Leaning towards Ziebell im missing alot of points not having him. Also prefer to keep gulden on field over warner. Will lose some cash gen on warner but hopefully gain some with young macrae?

Or alternatively I can swap Tex for Ziebell not sure how much longer he keeps up the scoring

  58. I’m thinking of an early luxury trade.

Before you Cough and scroll down to T/D hear me out.

So I traded Neale before price changes.
    I now want him back.
I used that cash, and some bank I saved to start, get in Impey, Jiath and B.Crouch. ( For Young , Dow and Heeney.)

I know these guys are borderline keepers, but they get a rookie off field early and are last/ luxury upgrade pre finals.

So I now have $101K and playing 7 on field rookies.

My first instinct was to downgrade Clark and Then upgrade a Cygnet early. It won’t work with Campbell and I really like all their chances this week V the Suns.

I also want to keep Clark as Danger looks unlikely and I think he plays. His BE is 36 and unless he’s the Sub he’s staying.

Sorry for the essay, but I wanted to try to justify my decision.

    Cripps to Neale.

Cripps looks like a 95 type player this year and Neale more a 115+

It could be the best $75K I spend all year.

I goes against most of what I’ve learned about sideways trading, yet just feels right.

Now for the thumbs down. 😉

    1. FT, with the chaos this year, historical logic can be dismissed to some extent. If anyone said six weeks ago that we could get Neale at this price, or 3-4 swans were rookie gold, we would ask what they were smoking !!! Go with your gut. I’m still holding Cripps and hoping…had bigger issues elsewhere….never had a donut this early in the year until R5.

    2. As long as you’ve got the trades and prepared for Neale to cop Curnow this week, then yeah np.

Cripps not Top 8 material and Neale getting close to 100%. Makes sense.

      1. I agree he could be cheaper next week, but so could Cripps.

Cripps and the Blues have a very hard month ahead. If I’m getting off its now.

They may score around the same this weekend, ( sub ton.) but
longterm I think It will pay off.

I will never trade in a rookie early again.

            1. I hear you FT.
It going to be hard for me to dodge a donut in the backline.
I am not as optimistic about Tom Highmore as I was but we live in hope.
Maybe Tom should grab a bucket and sponge and wash someone’s car?
              Lawn mower may help?

              1. I’ve got Clark in mids with Kosi L Jones and Highmore trying to cover D6

It’s not really worth a trade. I maybe eating a donut.

Kosi may save me with a 37 😉

Its going to be a long weekend.

                Best of luck.

  69. So with Jones now out injured, who is the best rookie option in Def this week?

I will need someone to put on field if Clark or Highmore are not named.

    2

    1. Clark is a decent chance with Danger out

Otherwise, it’s Lewis Young if you have cash, Mansell if you don’t

      1

      0
  70. T/up – Trade Campbell to McCreery this week

T/down – Hold hoping that Campbell plays well and if not, trade in Finlay Macrae next week

    5

    10
  71. So L Jones out for a few weeks now. I already have him (to avoid a donut last week) so no point trading him out now. Left with Ridley and Jones on the bench, will have to cop a donut if Highmore is not named. Is it worth trading Highmore to the R Mansell? Any Richmond fans have any colour on job security?

    t/u Yay

    t/d Nay

    14
    1. I’m a Richmond supporter and I would say his job security is shaky. Could be ok for the next couple of weeks, but with Vlastuin due back in a few I don’t see him holding his spot.

Saying that though he has played his role ok, but there are others knocking on the door as well in the VFL.

You can’t safely pick him thinking he will be playing too many more games in my opinion.

      5

      0
      1. Yeah I tend to agree. Might just have to just cop a donut 2 weeks in row now, after no Flynn / Meek / Fullarton last week.

I’m doing okay in the rankings (6k overall) but what a stressful season so far!

  72. Was planning on going Clark > Jones to avoid a donut since I have Ridley. Please let me know thoughts on this;

    Warner > F Macrae
    Clark > Lloyd

This will mean I don’t have to cop a donut and gets Lloyd into my side at the same time. However it is early to trade out Warner and get macrae. Thoughts appreciated!

    Tu; Go for it!
Td; cop the donut and hold

    1. Clark should play with Danger going down.

He was the Sub last week.

I think he comes in this week.

      1. I like Ryan too Shaggy.

4 of the next 5 at home. He loves Optus.

If logue stays fit he should do very well.

On Clark.. at least we know if he’s playing tomorrow. 6 35pm

        Fingers crossed.

        1. What if Clark isn’t named?? Surely then it’s justifiable to move Warner early to make up enough cash to get Lloyd/Ryan, especially if it’s avoiding a donut!

          3

          0
  73. On the positive side we know Jones is out for a month before Sundays game, however on the negative side, Jones is out for a month. In order to bring Steele in this week is it worth going:

    Campbell > F. Macrae
    Taranto > Steele

IF Campbell is rested this week? Otherwise if his named I might just hold onto my trades and look to upgrade next week instead when Macraes on the bubble.

    3

    7
  74. Was gonna go
    Clark>Jones
    Campbell>Brayshaw

But now maybe since Jones is out:

    TU
    Clark>Mansell
    Campbell>Brayshaw

    TD
    Clark>Rich
    Campbell>McCreary

    2

    13
  75. Upgrade time but not flushed with cash.
Tu Luke Ryan (Laird dpp to mid)
    Td Tim Mitchell

Note: already have a pretty stacked back line with Laird Stewart Mills Short Daniels.

    5

    2
  76. TU: Chad Warner > Finlay Macrae & Sam Berry > Sam Walsh
TD: Chad Warner > Finlay Macrae & Errol Gulden > Jack Macrae

    5

    2
      1. I’ve got to weight up if it is worth getting rid of one of the Swans (Warner) to get Walsh. Happy to move Berry on now that he is injured.

        1

        1
        1. I’d be holding onto Warner as long as you can, Slats.

Great on-field option, still got cash to make, only had the one down game and the other FWD rookies aren’t too hot.

Could you cash in on Gulden to bring in Walsh instead? No problems there as you’re replacing him with a MID premo.

          4

          0
          1. Good point Gunboat, I can go Berry to Macrae and then Gulden to Walsh and still hold onto Warner. Cheers!

  77. Ok, I’m posting my team YET AGAIN!
I was going to bring in Grundy and Macrae for Hickey and Campbell, but now that Jones is out for 4 weeks I have to rethink this again.
And Jones and Hickey were traded into my side last round to top everything off

DEF – Laird, Short, Daniel, Jiath, Cox, Jones (Clark, Highmore)
MID – Macrae, N. Fyfe, Merrett, Petracca, Taranto, Gulden, Powell, Campbell (Jordon, McNeil, A. Fyfe)
    RUC – Gawn, Hickey (Flynn)
FWD – Dunkley, Martin, Ziebell, Phillips, Warner, Rowe (Brockman, Scott)

    $156.9k and 24 trades remaining

I’m actually close to quitting now, this is ridiculous.

    1. Only idea I have is instead of trading Hickey out for Grundy (now that Flynn is playing this week), I could upgrade Clark instead to someone like Lever or Rich who are looking like great POD options right now

      5

      0
          1. Actually, you could trade campbell and dpp scot to mid and bring in mcreery, then go clarke to stewart

Next week trade phillips to fin macrae and upgrade again for a gulden

            0

            0
          2. That would be a safe bet to get Stewart, but I would like to take a POD to take a chance of making a difference. Plus, I still plan to grab Grundy in the next week or two, and I want some money in my cap to nab him next week.

  78. Is it justified to move Warner on early if it means an upgrade and avoiding a donut ??

    Thinking Warner > Lloyd!
    Thoughts?

    10

    8
  79. TU – Luke Ryan
TD – Jake Lloyd (with high BE)

I need to cover a spot in def so have to bring a premo in this week

  81. Guys, I’d like some advice. I’m looking for a defender under 395K. Any options you can think of?

    0

    0
    1. Scraping the bottom of the barrel there! If you’ve got no other option, I like Marcus Adams at $287K. With some luck, he might get to low $400s which would make him a viable trade in….but I can’t really recommend it

      1

      0
    1. We will probably have Sinclair and McLean to replace Hickey and Franklin, and with Rowbottom coming back, one of them may get rested, but hopefully not too much else in one weekend……

  82. Hiya SCT’ers

    Beau Mcreery’s JS?

TU – playing well for a rook in a crap pies side
TD – iffy JS, only play until injured players are back

No other bubble rooks this week set my heart on fire. Shouls I maybe not trade this week?

    Cheers

  83. Hey SCT’ers
If I get Mcreery in for Degoey it leaves me with 615k to spend trading out Philips. Damn 5k short of Dunks
    Do I go –
    TU – Ryan(Freo DEF)
    TD – Neale(BRIS MID)
    Comment for anyone else
Both have a BE of around 100, want them both in my team soon enough but who to get first. Cheers SCT’ers

  84. Don’t know why people trade to avoid a donut. If you bring in a rookie you are possibly wasting a trade for 50 odd points. Even a premo maybe 120 points. I think a trade is worth more than 120 points especially this time of year. Trade only for upgrades and long term injuries. Sideways does not work imo. Good luck all.

    13

    0
    1. yep, good call …

Then again, been a nightmare season thus far, and perhaps people have already worn several donuts …

But yes, trade to upgrade if possible …

      1

      0
    2. That’s a fair point. What is the point value of a trade? I know $150K is the roughly accepted dollar value, but I haven’t seen as much talk on the point value

  86. If you had to pick one who is worth more (based on JS and future cash production)

    Tu: F. Macrae
    Td: Mccreery

    7

    16
  87. Howe to Maynard or Sholl? (Maynard has been up & down) Sholl looks good on the wing.

TU: Maynard will hopefully start matching his 2020 stats.

TD: Sholl looks the goods this year, take the punt.

    9

    6
    1. Maynard may go back to the more defensive role when Howe returns. Like last year, no Howe, more Maynard.

      2

  88. Possibility of either 1 or 2 donuts down back this week depending on lineups…
Might face me to go early on Warner.

    Tu; Warner > F. macrae & Clark > Ryan/Lloyd
    Td; Hold

(Keeping in mind I may face 2 donuts)

    5

    4
      1. I hope so but say he doesn’t… and let’s say highmore or kozchie don’t play this week either. Surely chopping Warner early is justified?

        3

        5
  89. I’m looking at either Andrew Brayshaw cause of his run of home games but he has horror bye, or Mitch Duncan cause Danger out and friendly bye for me.
Or can bust bank with Walsh.

    T/U Brayshaw
    T/D Duncan

    10

    10
    1. Ryan got his old role back on the weekend and Freo won so I’m thinking he might score well for the foreseeable future. Lloyd also has a high breakeven so will probably drop in price, but you know he could go off at any time and score big. I went Ryan.

      3

  90. So I was planning on not trading this week and probably still won’t as I’ve used maximum trades so far but if J Clark and B Campbell both don’t play, I have the cash to do a one up one down trade and that’s what we save our trades for right? This will only happen if both don’t play so first trade will be Campbell to Mccreery, while second trade will be Clark to

    TU: S Walsh
    TD: T Boak

I’m leaning away from Walsh cause I already have Cripps, and add in that their bye is shared with the bulldogs and lions, my midfield will just be decimated missing all of them in one week

    17

    1
  91. So yesterday I asked re danger replacement between Walsh/Petracca on last look it was 8/8 so now can I please ask this

    Tu Walsh or Petracca
    Td Steele

    Cheers coaches

  92. Genuinely confused about what to do this week. Can someone provide some opinion please!?

    Bank: $113k / 24 trades left

DEF: Ridley, Laird, Ryan, Stewart, Chapman, Jones (Kozi, Highmore)

MID: Steele, Satan, Bont, Merrett, Cripps, Phillips, Gulden, Powell (Campbell, Brockman, Sharp)

  93. Hi all, posted a couple of days ago before the Lachie Jones news and was told to hold Clark if he’s selected but even that’s in the air so with the info we have now I would love some advice.

  94. I’m thinking of doing an agressive upgrade:

    E Gulden -> Walsh
    B. Campbell -> B. McCreery

I know Gulden might have more money to make, but I also have Berry (Adel), McNeil (Dogs) , and Giro (Freo) who either won’t play are are doubtful. Also the jungle drums are telling me B. Campbell will be rested this week.

    TU if you like it
    TD if you don’t

  95. I’m a bit limited with Def trade in options
    Who is better?
    TU:- Marcus Adams
    TD:- Lachie Young

    3

    3
  96. 4 non playing defenders this week
    Sharp,
    Highmore,
    Jones and
    Ridley only $111 in bank
I would like to keep Ridley, thinking of first getting rid of Jones tomorrow morning with what is available:
    TU Jaxon Prior
    TD C Menadue

Then look at Highmore after 6 tomorrow night
