Trade Talk Rd7

Written by Schwarzwalder on April 28 2019

By now I’m guessing most Coaches have made a few correctional trades & downgrades and have built up a nice little nest egg for upgrading…….the time has now arrived.  Fallen Premiums are slowly becoming available and some Rookies are slowly approaching their peak value.  So who is making way in your line-up?  Who is coming in this week?

  1. What should I do with Zac Butters?
Only have 7k to use so how should I upgrade and downgrade.
I also have Parker, Collins, Brad Crouch, Moore, Smith and Williams.
    What should I do?

    1. Think it’s time to move Butters out. Missed his B.E and it will be even higher this week. Downgrading him to Hayes looks good.

          1. Didnt he have a real crappy score a few rounds back that bumped up his BE?
I think it has now dropped out of his cycle so the BE has dropped back down too.

  2. Thinking of bold move of getting T Kelly and Fyfe for Moore and Goldstein and starting Rob if funds permit however I now have rookies that I may need to trade earlier. Could be a case of going with Answerth or Hately early if named especially with uncertainty of fitness of Whitfield and Coniglio.
Lloyd Hurn or possibly Rich could be defensive target
    So many options
Need break evens and also teams named to make definite moves

  3. Too much risk for me but does Gary Ablett now become Supercoach relevant as a forward? Yes he is 34 yes he is an injury risk but he is averaging 97. 3 and may end up a top 10 fwd? I’ve put it here as it might become a good talking point.

    1. Shame he’s a MID. If only he was a fwd in supercoach this year, he would be in consideration. Feels bad.

  4. Going Butters to Hayes (will be a popular move this week) and then I can do my first upgrade for the season. My urge is to go Neale but I’ve already got 8 premos sharing the same bye with him, so I’m looking at someone from the R12 bye. Thinking Fyfe, Zerret or Boak.

Is bye structure a greater concern that overall points and, if so, which R12 premo should I bring for my first upgrade?

    Feedback appreciated, cheers.

    1. Hey Gunboat
Worth looking at byes as well as fallen premiums. Neale will drop further this week.
Fyfe is the one I will look at as will go up in price after next week as injury affected score falls out.

Some good options down back as well

      1. Cheers, PBuzz. Short 4k for Fyfe and I don’t think it’s worth going early on Constable for him, so I’ll look at Whitfield in a couple weeks and probably Boak this week. Unsure on what to make of Laird.

        Tyvm for the response.

  5. Maybe a double upgrade this week… possibly Clark to Laird/Lloyd and maybe Goldy to Grundy, if the funds permit.

Happy that I traded out Darling last week, soon he’ll appear on the Mcdonalds loose change menu…

    1. “soon he’ll appear on the McDonalds loose change menu”

      As a person: hilarious.

As an owner and Eagles supporter: traumatic.

  6. I didnt watch the gws game was whitfield injury bad what are the chances of him missing I really need him to play my backline is so thin

    2

    1
    1. it was a bad kork , but he played out the game standing in the goal square ,
if it was a final next week i recon he would play but he would be hampered ,
next game they got is the depleted saints in sydney ,
cant see them playing him against them ,
probably see hately come back in ,
injury cloud over cogs dislocated finger also

      7

    2. Bad corky, he’s a guy that relies on running so it basically made him useless. Spent the rest of the game at full forward.
Just have to wait and see how he recovers, if he misses any time hopefully it’s only a one weeker.

      6

    1. Tries his guts out. Needs some polish and will be an improver if he’s given time. No one kicking the door down in the vfl and I don’t think he will be first dropped by any means.

      13

      1
    2. Who knows with their coach. A player could have great job security in the Dogs side but end up playing the majority of the game in a position that doesn’t fit.

  7. Time to trade out R.Gray.
45 last week and 54 this week.
Now confirmed he will be out for a month with a broken hand.

Question is, who do I trade to?
with only $21,500 in the bank.

was hoping to do another upgrade this week .
unless there is some way I can trade Gray to another premium and also upgrade a rookie.

    Any ideas coaches?

    7

    1. I am thinking,
      Atkins > Hayes
R.Gray > Laird (via DPP Burgess)

TU – Go for it, it’s worth the 2 trades (leaving me with 25 once done)

TD – Don’t do it, try get rid of Gray using just the one trade, not worth using 2.

      24

      4
  8. My initial thoughts are Baker & Boak in but unsure who to trade out.
The main suspects to trade out are:
Burgess – not playing but lose swing with Moore
Lycett – sharing ruck with Ryder is negative to his scoring. I can get scores of 80 odd from a much cheaper player
Libba – seems go be back playing the negating midfield role instead of hunting the footy. That’s bad for his scoring.
B.Crouch – if he has 30 possessions 11 clearances etc and only scores 85 better value elsewhere.
I am leaning towards Lycett & Libba.
It will leave me with a bank of $350K+

  9. I have 200k in the kitty.

    My plan is
    Aktins down to Will Hayes
    Collins up to James Sicily

Petrucelle might be the next cow to chop the week after

I’ve got Drew, Dursma, Miers, Constable, O’brien, Stack that are still getting fat. They look 3-4 weeks away

    22

    0
  10. With Riewoldt out for a few weeks is it to late to trade Baker in
    Yes go for it t/u
No look for other options t/d

    9

    22
    1. I voted go for it, but if you want a bench cash cow also consider Shai Bolton, the guy who got dropped for riewolt. He is still on the bubble.

      12

      5
  11. Robbie Gray has gone down, I need to get rid of him. Luckily I’ve only used 2 trades.
Already have Heeney, Danger and Kelly.
I can’t afford Boak. What should I do?

    3

    0
    1. Caleb Daniels
      James Worpel.
They both have the same bye as Gray so won’t change your bye structure.

      14

      0
    1. I can’t really vote, I love the first one, bringing in Laird.

But I’d ride the Walsh train a bit longer.

      41

  12. Right now I have $172k in the bank. I need to make one downgrade to make one upgrade. Which should go for?

TU: Butters to Hayes, Clark to Laird w/ $17k left
TD: Butters to Hayes, Collins to Whitfield/Hurn w/$33k or $44k remaining

    18

    1
  13. What are people’s thoughts on Caleb Daniel? He’s proving to be a solid option for a consistent forward score and he is relatively affordable.

    19

    1
    1. I got him last week.
      very bullish of him.
Don’t think he has a massive ceiling, but can be trusted to pull in between 90-110 each week.

      7

      0
        1. if you wait too long I don’t think he will still be a POD.

If he keeps his form going everyone will be picking him up.

          1

  14. Use 2 trades to turn Nank into Fyfe?
Would mean a 150k bank for the next week and ROB at R2.
Once Jacobs returns ROB will become Gawn.
    Worth it?
    Cheers guys

    9

    4
    1. If it works out, terrific.
However I toyed with this idea In my tech team and came to the conclusion it’s too risky.

If you need 300k to go ROB > Gawn then you need to have planned and have funds or have a +400k rookie ready to cull.

      But then additionally,
There may be no downgrade targets.
You may miss a downgrade in another position.
You may miss a fallen premo.
You may cop a LTI that week who needs replacing.

      Bit much uncertainty for me

      2

  15. not planning on trading this week ,
but if newman’s injury is more than a week , i may trade him to laird

  16. 27 trades with 300k in the back…
    Out – Constable and Walsh.
    In – Fyfe and Rocky.
    They become M7 & M8.
Yeah nah to this weeks trades?

    1

    46
    1. Surely with 27 trades, you have better options to upgrade. The relatively consistent scoring output and money-making potential of Constable and Walsh leave them at a bottom of rookie-upgrade priority lists.

      20

      0
    2. It’s always tempting to do a move like that, but Walsh and Constable are relatively stable M7&M8 for now and still have more to appreciate in value

      13

      0
  17. Early thoughts are just the one trade:

TU: Scrimshaw to T. Kelly (using Darcy Moore DPP)
    TD: Scrimshaw to Sicily

    4

    29
    1. Chance he gets dropped for Amon altogether honestly. Not really his fault either, hes a much better inside player but has been pushed outside since Wines returned.

  18. double downgrade this week
    out:Atkins
    in: hayes

will leave 250K in the kitty for upgrade next week to a falling whitfield

Could also downgrade butters to hateley

    TU: Good with butters
    TD: good without butters

    7

    6
    1. I’d say doubtful at this stage Matthew. I think the eagles will hold their backline another week

      2

      0
  19. Scrimshaw to Lloyd this week. Shame i didn’t start Lloyd over Laird, it would have been a save in 50k and a lot more points.
1 trade spare for any potential rookie downgrades

    6

    0
    1. scrimshaw to laird i think is a good trade.

But am i missing something with Libba? why do so many people seem to want to trade him out? He has a high ceiling and has a low score of 71. Has his role changed or something that indicates his scoring potential will be significantly lower from here forward?

      1

      0
      1. He was always a midprice stepping stone Leeroy.
So we or atleast I started him to make his 150-200k and jump up to a fallen premo in my case a Fyfe. His BE is 111 so he will now possibly lose cash with two mediocre scores in his 3 rnd avg and fyfe will rise back up too 600+ i’ll make the swap. If you think Libba can finish top 8-10 then by all means hold and he may be an M8-9 but not for me mate

        9

        1
        1. Yeah that is a very fair way of looking at it Maverick. Its not a way i had looked at it before but will think about it a bit now!

          Thanks for the perspective 🙂

          1

          0
        1. Kelly’s BE is only 60ish so even if butters goes up slighty Kelly will likely go up by a similar amount. May as well make the trade this week

          2

          0
  20. Thinking about Houli.. possible top 6 defender?

440k and just played his third game (112 72 142)

    TU: Nice pod option
    TD: riskyyy

    7

    25
    1. Soft tissue issues for over a year now. I’m steering well clear as I have zero confidence in him playing every game. There are heaps of better options down back I think.

      5

      1
  21. Option 1: Collins to Lloyd, Atkins to Hayes
Option 2: Collins to Sicily, B.Scott to Hayes
    TU: Option 1
    TD: Option 2

    11

    2
    1. Thinking Fyfe myself. I know he’s a risk of injury/suspense the way he plays, and always seams to miss 3 or 4 last few years, but scoring potential is unquestionable.
But Walsh is not on the table to trade for me yet, Constable likewise..and Liba..just one bad game. Anyway else to get up to Fyfe?
I have Collins and Duurs DPP and $144 bank. Can trade Collins to Fyfe and get there by Atkins to Hayes, just.

      5

      0
  22. Want to start upgrading but rookies aren’t really ready yet. Have just enough to go Collins to Houli (TU). Will he be okay, especially with Rance bout raking points in backline? Or do i trade out Collins and Scrimshaw for Lloyd and Answerth/Young/Rotham (TU)? Not sure which rookie to get either. Answerth cheap and dpp with Duursma

    1

    5
  23. Hi All.

    Double trade:
    Butters > Rocky
    Gibbons > Hayes

Rocky would be to keep, seems pretty consistent apart from 1 poor game. I’m fairly confident Hayes will get another run.

Butters and Gibbons do have a little more cash to generate (esp. the former) however I feel the time is right to jump on the pig.

    Thoughts?

    1

    7
  24. Why is everyone so quick to jump off the libba train? Isnt he a decent M5 or M6? What am i missing?

    5

    0
    1. I have a number of reasons, none of which seem like much in themselves, but all add up:
      Playing for a struggling team
Complete lack of trust in the coach to continue playing him on the ball
Coming off a year out of the game, may be rested at some stage
Lots of attractive premium options in the midfield

      3

      0
    2. As I stated in my Trade plans earlier in this post I am looking at trading out Libba for the simple fact that he seems to be playing as a defensive mid instead of hunting the ball like he was at the start of the season.
He’s made us $170K+ and i don’t think he will appreciate much further so a good time > upgrade to a fallen premium

      7

      0
  25. Burgess to Balta for a little cash generation of 35k. Not fussed over his DPP.

    TU: Yes
    TD: No
    Comment other options.

    1

    29
  26. Hi All,

Possibly thinking of Butters and Petruccelle out for Hayes and Worpel

    t/u yes, 75k left over
t/d no, better trade out there

    4

    14
    1. Petruccelle with a breakeven of -3! Coming up against Gold Coast, followed by St Kilda and Melbourne.

Madness to trade him out this week.

If he scores a modest 60, he gains $30k. If he goes bigger his next 3 weeks could see him shoot up to the low/mid $300k range.

      2

      0
  27. Scott to Answerth. An extra DPP plus 55k. Scott has been bench cover, so I figure it’s bench for bench plus some coin.

    TU: Yes
    TD: No

    0

    8
  28. What to do with Robbie Gray?

TU: 2 trades – Atkins to Hayes, Robbie to Caleb Daniel
TD: trade down to someone cheaper (eg Toby Greene) and bank some cash for another upgrade elsewhere.

    6

    1
  29. Hi all, which rookie MID do I trade out for Hayes this week?
TU B Scott – has made me $50k, time to offload if not playing
TD Gibbons or Settlefield – bank their $$ increases and with byes coming get rid of 1 of 3 Carlton players (Cripps being the other I have)

    4

    1
  30. Making a move on Fyfe this week:

    Atkins & Butters OUT
    Hayes and Fyfe IN

Thoughts? All my DEF rookies still have money to make (Wilkie, Duursma and Hore)

    4

    0
    1. Rockcliff and Liberatore are averaging the same and priced at such. Libba will average 100-105 and Rockcliff’s history would suggest say 105-110.

Don’t think a trade is warranted at the moment for say 5-10 points over the next 6 rounds til the byes.

Trade probably being kept for round 13 and 14 upgrades of the likes of Walsh, Constable, Ross, Hately, Gibbons, and Scott?

Unfortunate that the Power and Bulldogs have the round 12 bye.

      2

      0
  31. I have had second thoughts on my initial thoughts (if that makes sense)

I am now thinking of retaining Libba & Lycett (at least for the moment) and instead do the following:

    Out – Goldy & Atkins
    In – Gawn & Hayes

    t/up good idea
    t/dwn bad idea

    5

    3
  32. Bringing in one of Laird/T Kelly. Kelly 55k cheaper but Laird fits my bye structure so much better.
    Who to bring in

    TU Laird
    TD Kelly

    11

    2
    1. 55k equates to ~10ppg but I’ll likely cop a donut by picking up Kelly. Assuming I use the 55k elswhere next week 15 rounds of 10 = 150pts. – donut (vs fielding rookie for laird) 60pts = 90pts gained from cash saved.
90/16 =5.5pts per game Laird needs to average over Kelly to be worthwhile.

Whether or not you trust my math. Please answer the following.
Does Laird average 5.5ppg higher than Kelly from here on?

      TU Yes
      TD No

      5

      2
  33. how about this one ..

    J Clark to Hayes
then Williams to Sicily or Lloyd
    yeh or nah ?

Williams was my stepping stone either way and even tho he scored big, can he sustain it is the question.. and also how much more can he possibly make.
or should i hold for one more week as BE is high for Loyd and Williams could score big again as Whitfield could be out ..

    1

    7
  34. Thinking Clark to Answerth and Atkins to Yeo?
    – I dont see Clark or Atkins making me too much more money
    – West Coast have an easy couple of weeks coming up (vs. GCS, STK and MEL)
    – I feel like Yeo is returning to form

    T/U – go for it
T/D – there are better trades

    0

    5
    1. I have a thing about bringing in rookies before their 3rd game week. With limited trades if you brought Answerth in and then he got injured or worse…dropped! then you’d be absolutely kicking yourself.

Unless you need Answerth on the park for points otherwise Clark can sit another week and you can be sure of Answerth next week!

      4

      0
  35. Thinking of going big this week
Angus Brayshaw or Brad Crouch for Nat Fyfe
    AND
    Libba for Clayton Oliver

    T/U Go for it!
    T/U No way you’re a madman!

    1

    13
    1. My guess is that you would have more pressing issues than Brayshaw, Liberatore and Crouch (of the B variety).

      4

      0
  36. Libba to Fyfe
    Moore to Daniel/Kelly

Before trades position is $232k in the bank.
After trades $18k/$27k and 24 trades left. I am currently ranked 16 overall. My rookies still have some more cash to make (Walsh, Constable and Clark are highest BEs)
    T/U – Go for it
    T/D – Upgrade rookies first

    12

    0
    1. Current team –
B: Lloyd, Crisp, Smith, Williams, Duursma, Hore (Clark, Lockhart)
M: Cripps, Neale, Taranto, Steele, Libba, B Crouch, Walsh, Constable (Gibbons, Atkins, Stack)
      R: Grundy, Gawn (Sweet)
F: Boak, Danger, Heeney, Moore, Drew, Setterfield (Petrucelle, Parker)
      26 trades and $232k bank.

      4

      0
      1. Brilliant start to the year mate. I’d do it in a heartbeat.
Fyfe and Kelly now have low BEs so they won’t be this cheap for a while, if at all this year.
Just be sure you’re happy with emerging rookies for future downgrades, that is all.
Now that the fixture is returning to relative normality, you can wait til Thursday night before pulling the trigger with confidence.

Am in a very similar boat, but with a bigger bank will probably shift Libba and a rookie for the same targets.

Good luck and keep it up 🙂

        2

        1
      2. Moore down /back ,dursma to mids .atkins/dursma out 4 tim kelly and libba/steele to fyfe .great side best of luck

  37. Thoughts on this.

    Atkins down to Hayes
    Goldy to Gawn

Obviously want Grundy and Gawn, just needed some cash generation before making the move. Is it a wasted trade, should I instead be looking at Clark to Houli?

    TU – Goldy > Gawn
    TD – Clark > Houli

    7

    0
  38. I have $180k in the bank after trading Atkins to Hayes w/26 trades left.

I want T.Kelly and this week seems to be the week to get him. Feel my fwd line is pretty weak. (Danger, Dunkley, Heeney, Drew, Petrucelle, Baker) but the only way I can get him this week is via Constable who is averaging 81 with a BE of 37.

    T/U: Worth the trade
T/D: Keep Constable, wait for further funds and trade W.Drew for him next week.

    0

    10
    1. I know Boak’s BE is low, but with Robbie Gray out for a month, there may be some tweaking of roles at PTA.
I’m sure it’ll be fine for Boak, but for that reason, I’d go Sicily this week, simply cos you can be 100% certain what you are gonna get.

      Good luck, whatever you decide!

      3

      2
  39. Mulling over a few possible scenarios:

    1) Libba and Atkins -> Fyfe and Hayes. Academically, Libba has done his job, started at $300k, scored points, made money, can trade him to Fyfe for ~$80k. Still, looking at the team it feels a little bit sideways, leaving me with the same number of rookies on-field.

    2) Clark and Atkins -> Hayes and either Daniel (fwd) or Rich (def). Simple one-up, one-down trade. Means one less rookie on field. Problem is, I prefer Daniel, but would have to swing Moore to the backline. Means two of Scrimshaw/Durrsma/Hore sit on the bench, while three of Setterfield/Baker/Drew/Petruccelle have to take the field.

    3) Just take Atkins -> Hayes and build the bank up to $260k for future upgrades.

Ranked inside the top 900, and while I’m more focused on a cash league (looking like beating next week’s opponent barring any horror scores to my unique players), it would be nice to stay in touch with the top end.

    So:

TU: Do the Libba -> Fyfe trade.
TD: Just do the single rookie downgrade and leave it at that.
    Comment: Daniel vs. Rich.

    2

    0
    1. Just realised – either of these options will leave me with two solid defensive rookies on the bench. Can’t be avoided. So it’s just a simple question of whether either option is worth the second trade this week.

TU: Trade Clark to Daniel (via Moore DPP)
      TD: Trade Clark to Rich

      3

      0
    2. Tough one. I shifted Moore back a few weeks ago and now can’t get him back FWD. It’s costing me 20pts/week at the mo. I don’t advise doing what I did, tho’ it will be easy to move him back FWD in a week or two with a few due to go.

Are you 100% sure that Rich and/or Daniel will be Top6 scorers on their respective lines from THIS POINT FORWARD? What they have done up to now means nothing for you, apart from the roles they are playing. I’m not convinced and therefore won’t consider either, for now.

Libba > Fyfe. Your rationale is spot-on. I am 95% sure I’m making that trade this week. If Libba had the Rd13 or 14 bye, I’d probably hold him until then, but he doesn’t, so timing is irrelevant. He’s gonna lose money for the next couple of weeks, so if you don’t think he’s a keeper, move him on now. Like you say, he has more than done his job. Thanks Libba 😉

Atkins > Hayes? Maybe, though Atkins isn’t gonna drop and I’m not utterly convinced on Hayes. I’m gonna wait for teams to drop before making a decision on that. There may be better ones coming through, but we’ll know more come Thursday/Friday.

Good luck BB. Keep up the excellent start 🙂

      1. Good points all round.

Not confident at all on Rich, his history worries me, but his scoring in a better Brisbane side looks very good. Lloyd, Laird, Whitfield, Hurn, Sicily should just about be locks for the top 6. Room for one more – throw a blanket over Rich, Crisp, Ryan, Stewart, Jones etc. etc.

Daniel is a maybe for me. The forwards are a real shitshow this year. Think he’s a genuine Top 6 chance.

This really does look like the week for Fyfe. The clincher might be Caleb Daniel’s lower ceiling. I can probably get him in for Butters next week without too much hassle, and their price changes will probably cancel out. Fyfe could go real big though, so don’t wanna miss that boat.

  40. T/U: Libba > Fyfe
    Witherden > Lloyd
    (25k leftover)

    T/D: Libba > Fyfe

Bit worried of having both smith and laird

  41. Thoughts on these trades please.
    Atkins to Hayes
    Clark to Rich
Simple down and up which allows me to field 1 less rookie in my defence

    1. Hey mate
Do you really think RICH will be a top6 DEF from now to season’s end (see above)? If so, do it!

      Good luck

  42. Current team line up as follows:

DEF: Laird, Rich, Crisp, B. Smith, Z. Williams, Collins (Ridley, Clark)
MID: Neale, Coniglio, Liberatore, Rockliff, B. Crouch, Walsh, Constable, Butters (Gibbons, Atkins, C. Wagner)
    RUC: Grundy, Witts (O’Brien)
FWD: Dangerfield, Heeney, T. Kelly, Worpel, Moore, Drew (Setterfield, Bines)
    $73k in the bank

Midfield is an obvious issue, but Constable and Butters are still not close enough to full price to be upgraded. The lure of Fyfe and Oliver at their prices is huge. Want to wait on upgrading Crouch until the byes.

Was planning on downgrading Collins this week (putting Ridley into the 22), but there didn’t seem to be any options other than Rotham, but job security is possibly too big an issue there. Would then upgrade Ridley to Whitfield in 2 weeks time (should Whitfield be fit).

Gibbons is a lock to be traded out next week. Unsure yet on what to do with Atkins and Wagner – should they be downgraded this week?

Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

    1. Hey, Kev.

There’s option of swinging Moore down back in Collins’ place and the grabbing a forward premo, perhaps Boak. But that would require you to downgrade a Butters or an Atkins to Hayes.

On the issue of Rotham, I wouldn’t do anything premature. Simpson won’t be looking to get experimental as we [West Coast] need to get our shit together- don’t see us dropping any defenders to make way for Rotham.

      1. Thanks for the advice with Rotham. Best to hold off there.

My hesitation with sending Moore down back is that, when Whitfield’s price is at it’s likely lowest in 2 weeks time, that Moore may still have more money to make whilst Ridley will be at his peak. Yes I can downgrade Ridley instead, but he should be at his peak price (more or less) by then and (within reason) closer to Whitfield than he will again.

If I went for the upgrade option on Ridley after the Moore-Collins switch/trade, that means that Moore will be on the bench in the backline, which is probably a waste of resources to an extent.

        1. You can always ditch a FWD rookie, swing Moore back to your FWD line, hence opening up a spot in your DEFs for Whitfield.
I currently have Moore in my DEF line, but will be swinging him to FWDs to make way for Lloyd next week. Similar idea.
Just be aware you don’t want Moore in your DEF line for too long as his pts are a lot more valuable onfield in your FWDs. I even benched him the other week via Duursma and Hore looked better (was the wrong week to do it, but you get my point)! 😉

          Good luck!

  43. Thoughts on Jack Crisp @ 462k…

Never misses a game, as a big ceiling, almost had him in @ the start…

Will he come good or continue to be up & down…?

    Replacement for Collins?

    5

    0
    1. While he’s got a high ceiling he also has a really low floor, which is why I’d be targeting Hurn, Lloyd and an eventually discounted Whitfield atm, Jeff.

      0

      0
      1. Started with Lloyd & Hurn. Think Collins needs to go this week… not many downgrade options availiable to wait for Whitfield, if he misses this week id be losing $ on Collins

        2

        0
        1. Nice, so did I.

If you’ve got Moore, you could cut Collins lose, do some DPP magic and bring in a FWD premo. With Lloyd and Hurn, your DEF looks solid and you can bring in Whitfield when he drops in price- save you gambling on Crisp.

          0

          0
    2. If you already have Lloyd & Hurn, then Crisp presents a bye issue sadly. Be careful as that bye is particularly problematic in the RUC and FWD lines.
That said, if you reckon you can still get 18 on field for Rd13, I reckon he’s a great pick. Jack the Salamander will be all over this. Crisp tends to go boOom from here to season’s end (he’s a slow starter) and is juicily (is that a word? It is now!) priced.
If you can accommodate the bye, then I reckon he’s a great pick.
      Good luck

  44. DF: Whitfield, B Smith, Williams, Scrimshaw, Collins, Duursma (Clark, Burgess)
MF: Cripps, Macrae, Oliver, Shiel, Steele, Libba, Walsh, Constable (Butters, Atkins, Scott)
    RU: Grundy, Gawn (Bines)
FWD: Danger, Kelly, Marshall, Moore, Drew, Setterfield (Petrucelle, Parker)

    $126k in the kitty.
    27 trades left.

First year player here, any advice would be much appreciated, had a bad week so need to bounce back!

    1. Scott’s in downgrade territory, and Collins and Scrimshaw may have peaked.

I’d do Collins to Crisp, and wait on Scrimshaw for a week or 2 before upgrading to Lloyd, whose price may drop further.

I’m not sure who I’d downgrade Scott to though.

      0

      0
    2. That’s a tough one. You may have only had a bad week because of Whitfield getting injured and Marshall being a late out. Sh!t happens, but your team looks great. Don’t panic!

I’m not sure if SCOTT was dropped or managed, but either way you can keep him for now. Has a BE of 11 and as a young rookie will be better for a break. If he’s not named, then he will provide you with a great loophole to maximise onfield points for now at the very least!

You need Lloyd. So do I, much to my chagrin. He’ll likely be cheaper next week tho. At this stage, we kind of need to know what’s going on with Whitfield before making critical decisions. Later in the week would be better, but I agree with Kevin, Collins has served his purpose and Scrimshaw may have too.

All will become much clearer later in the week. And remember, don’t panic 😉

  45. 4.4k in bank and 28 trades remaining. Wanting to get Hayes in but Scott hasn’t made enough and Butters and Gibbons still have cash to make.
Lloyd, Smith, Williams, Scrimshaw, Duursma, Hore B: Clark, Burgess
Cripps, Neale, Macrae, Cognilio, Liberatore, B Crouch, Walsh, Constable
    B: Butters, Gibbons, Scott

  46. Double downgrade last week, Cousins to Ross and Darling to Baker left me with about 490k in bank.
This week Petrucelle to T Kelly and Collins to
    T/U L.Ryan
T/D Sicily , leaves not as much in the bank
    Either one suit bye plans.

    1. Wouldn’t be trading out Petruccelle this week, Bruce. Still has the 100 in his rolling average and a B.E in the negatives. Should also put up a decent score against the Suns this week.

  47. At a difficult crossroads now, need some collective SCT wisdom. I was originally going to go Butters to Hayes and Atkins to Fyfe, bang bang. However I’m short 4k, even with 192k in the bank.

    So, here’s my team:

DEF: Lloyd, Hurn, Williams, Scrimshaw, Duursma, Hore, Burgres & loophole.
MID: Cripps, Macrae, Oliver, M. Crouch, Steele, Walsh, Constable, Butters, Gibbons, Atkins & Scott.
    RUCK: Grundy, Gawn & ROB.
FWD: Danger, Heeney, Darling, Moore, Drew, Baker, Petruccelle & Setterfield.

Just need some guidance on what/if any trades to make this week. May come down to whether it’s acceptable to go early on some rookies, in which case Constable could afford me Fyfe and Scrimshaw could get me Boak.

    Feedback GREATLY appreciated, hit me!

    1. Gunboat.

Looking at your team most of rookies are still a week off at least.

The glaring problem is Darling. ( sorry )
I’m not sure you want to use your downgrade money on him.

Butters to Hayes maybe worth a shot.

How many trades you have used ?

If you still have 27+ I would look at taking a punt on Toby Greene.

Save the rest of your cash to upgrade Scrimshaw and co next week.

Best of luck whatever you do.

      1. Will admit starting Darling was a mistake, but I kinda have to hold him now after absorbing two horrific scores. We’ve got the Suns at home this week, SURELY we all bounce back? So, while I agree he is a glaring problem, think I’ll leave him for the time being.

I am liking Butters to Hayes, but people are cautioning me otherwise? Don’t see Butters scoring too hot against the Pies this week, so I’ll probably do that pending F.D’s Cow Talk later on this week.

But, in sum, you think hold off trading this week? Feel as if everyone besides me is makin’ moves lol.

        1

        0
          1. Yeah, don’t think he’ll do amazing against the Pies though- so probably another 40~. Not too much cash lost.

  48. Hey coaches, need some help.

just curious on who everyone thinks are the best rookie options this week in DEF or FWD?
I need to get rid of Gray and don’t have enough to straight swap.
And unfortunately have no one to swing into MID to get Hayes, only Burgess in DEF.
And don’t think any of my MID rookies are quite ready to go, still have a bit of cash to make.
I like Answerth in DEF but am always against going early and would prefer him to play 2 games and be named for the third before pulling the trigger.
The other question is, which premium do o replace Gray with?? a DEF or FWD?

Il place my team below. appreciate all the help I can get.

    DEF:
    Lloyd, B Smith, Williams
    Scrimshaw, Collins, Duursma
    (Burgess, Lockhart)

    MID:
    Cripps, Neale, Macrae, Oliver
    M Crouch, Walsh, Constable, Stack
    (Gibbons, Atkins, Scott)

    RUC:
    Grundy, Gawn
    (Sweet)

    FWD:
    Dangerfield, Heeney, Daniel
    R Gray, Moore, Drew
    (Setterfield, Pretuccelle)

    $21,500 in bank.

    Cheers.

  49. Ok its early the week but I think of I got a plan.

I thought about Fyfe, Freo’s draw gets fair bit harder from here,
and there’s a reason I didn’t start him, that stays true. Ditto Toby Greene. He does have a good draw coming up but it would take a brave man to pick him now. If he goes well the next 2 weeks ,he will still be cheap and a ROB trade for very little cash ,might be worth a look.

With Whitfield iffy, and Collins ready to go down back, I really need a defensive down grade this week.No matter what I do, I can’t seem to trade in Hayes and get cover on every line. ( Pines forward and Burgess )

    I watched the Q clash ( Tragic I know, I watch em all )
I think Answerth was very quite good down back.
I’m not sure how long Andrews is out for but he seemed to play a different role anyway.
Hodge looked sore and may need a rest soon, Matherson is also injured.

I may have to go a week early, if Rotham isn’t named for WC. ( I expect some changes, maybe more Forward )

    So back to the plan..

Collins out for Rotham / Answeth.

Clark out for J Kelly 😉

    2

    1. Would steer clear of Answerth and Rotham, FT.

Mathieson and Andrews may return this week or next week at the very latest and I really don’t see how Rotham comes in, no way we drops any of our defenders- got bigger problems rn.

Like moving on Josh Kelly, been eyeing him off myself.

      2

      0
        1. I watched the Q clash too 😉 , and thought Answerth looked great, but I worry enough about his JS to wait until teams are dropped in two weeks’ time.
Do you have Moore and if so, where is he playing?

I’m in a similar boat, with intended INs and OUTs not matching up, in any way.

  52. Thinking it’s time for to cut Collins lose, made some handy cash. Looking at downgrading to Hayes and sending Dursuma to defence with his DPP.

Devon Smith has not come through for me (realise he was injured on the weekend). Might be time to upgrade to Boak.

    Thoughts?

    And
    Libba to fyfe

Can’t facilitate the trade from libba to fyfe without the butters to hayes trade, but not sure if it is too early to move butters on yet. No other rookies in my team worth trading yet

    1. Need Dixon back before considering him and that could be a wayhoff yet!
Gray OUT for 4 weeks could impact roles, so it’s still very much a waiting game for me.

      1. Have to agree allsaints.

No need to rush into ruck cover with ROB at R3.

In a few weeks, I may consider Hoff when ROB maxes out.

If one of the rucks at Port go down, it will be a “no brainer”

  58. Now looks like a good time to offload Libba for max $, but I’m not overly keen on trading in any premo’s this week due to probable price drops in the next week or two based on existing BE’s.

    Hi Team,

TU – Downgrade out Libba for Hayes only (provided he is named), and play Stack on-field leaving 450k in bank for upgrade next week

TD Trade out Libba + Burgess for Hayes + a premo such as Boak or Sicily (would lose DPP option with Moore by offloading Burgess).

    Comment:
Come up with some another solution or hold altogether

    1

    1. Fyfe? Or do you already have him?!

Don’t worry about losing the DPP. You can still use it to your advantage thru trades. eg I have Moore in my backline, next week if all goes well, I will trade out Parker, swing Moore FWD and bring in Lloyd. Make sense?!

      2

      0
      1. Fortunate enough to already have Fyfe.
The DPP when trading makes perfect sense, meaning Burgess will most likely depart next week to make room for the premo!

        Thanks mate.

  59. Butters – Hayes

  60. Simple question to understand consensus.
    Trade Butters to Hayes?

TU Yes – Hayes is one of only a few decent bubble boys and has good JS
TD No – Butters B/E is only 27 and has good J/S so save the trade and use down the line.

    Cheers.

    T/dwn – bad idea

  62. Surprisingly, I actually went up 851 spots this week & now sitting 4,030 overall

    My team currently looks like:

DEF – Hurn, Whitfield, Laird, B. Smith, Z. Williams, Hore (Scrimshaw, Duursma)

MID – Cripps, Neale, Macrae, Coniglio, Libba, Walsh, Constable, Stack (Gibbons, Atkins, Scott)

    RUC – Grundy, Goldy (Sweet)

FWD – Danger, Heeney, T. Kelly, Moore, Drew, Petruccelle (Baker, Setterfield)

    99.4k in bank & 23 trades left

Wasn’t wanting to make any trades this week, especially as all rookies should still make money…

But feeling like most that Libba’s time is up & was going to bring in Fyfe for him as my only this week (will leave me with 23.6k)

But now with injuries to Whifield & Cogs – is there another trade needed?

T/U – Yes Libba’s time is up & do trade

T/D – Bad idea & no need to trade this week

Comment: Any other suggestions/trades i should consider?

Thanks in advance to any & all for your time/assistance!

    2

    2
    1. Looks like Whitfield is unlikely but you can loophole Duursma through him so all is not lost.
Cogs is training today and it depends how he pulls up as to whether he’ll play or not. If he doesn’t make it, you can cover it for a week.
You’ve used a fair few trades already, so holding off might not be a bad idea.
That said, the Doggies do have three pretty tough fixtures in front of them and personally, I’m pulling the trigger. But I do have 27 trades at the mo’.
There’s no right or wrong answer to this. If you think Libba can maintain a 100 average for the next four weeks, then you can hold knowing he’ll be back around the $490-500k mark. If not, burn him! Good luck whatever you decide.

      1. Thanks allsaints, much appreciated!

Luckily the way games are scheduled this week i have a lot of DEF & MID flexibility to get best scores on ground with rookies…

Really just not sure over Libba & doubting he will ave 100 over next 4 weeks, that’s why i was thinking of Fyfe – so torn!! 🙁
