Trade Talk Rd8

Written by Schwarzwalder on May 5 2019

The Hoff is back in form and only $400k, the classic Fallen Premium……..is he on your radar?  Or are you chasing the consistency of Caleb Daniel?   Rookies such as Answerth & Hately are sure to be popular fellas this week.  Is a double downgrade the go?  Tell the SCT Coaches all about it……..

    1. Has to happen. i’ve said i the past 2 weeks and everyone kept defending him. Just not showing it this year and this is the final straw. Gone to Fyfe.

    1. Would caution you on bringing in Westhoff.

Straight off the bat, I’ve always rated Westhoff. Probably the most consistent and under-rated player of the last couple years.

However, in terms of SC, the form on which I think many people want to bring him in on is anomalous. The game against Collingwood, for instance, he had 4 shots at goal and 30 odd touches. That is not going to happen every week.

The other big problem is his role. I had Westhoff last year but changes at Port have curtailed his scoring, namely Lycett coming in and Boak spending most of his time in the middle- this complicates things for Westhoff in terms of consistent scoring. Doesn’t get those hit-outs like he did last year and with Boak covering things on the ball Westhoff usually gets swung around to hold the fort down.

The effect of this has been that his floor is much lower and we can’t predict how/where he’ll be played. So, on that basis, I’d steer clear. Love the guy, but he won’t be Top 6.

      1. I’m in that same boat on how he comes out for the rest of the season. I know what he is capable of but varying roles can be massive to his scoring. I need a fwd to come in this week and i don’t have the largest budget to work with so it is going to be a tough choice this week

      2. I think it’s an interesting selection if you’re planning to use him as an F7/R3. I know they managed to do it last year, but does anyone expect Gawn and Grundy to play every game again this year?
Ruck coverage will probably be useful at some stage, especially if the guy can be used as a loop option in the forward line too.

  1. I think it’s time to cash in on Gibbons.

Downgrading him to Answerth and restoring my DEF/MID DPP switch-ability.

Upgrades will depend on teams announced on Thurs.

    28

    2
    1. Gibbons has another week in him if you can. If not makes sense.

Answorth is clear #1 rook this week. Hately would be but for security, but Answorth will get as good or better price rises and is dpp

      1. He has a BE of 50 and if he continues to be consistent with his scoring he will only make me <$5,000 at best.

  2. Libba. 71 last week; 58 this week. Is this a Magnets-induced thing, or has he just had an off couple of weeks?

    10

    3
    1. I reckon its Mr Magnets induced.

Seems to be playing defensive mid role. Manned up on Martin at the stoppages and seemed more worried about stopping his man getting the ball rather than getting it himself.

I think its time to move him on and it might allow you to select a POD like the Bont or Treloar

      10

      1. Thanks, Shaggi.

*sigh* I guess it’s time… I really was liking the idea that he could be a keeper (or at the very least stay until his bye). Oh well. I guess all good things really do come to an end.

On a related note, this is exactly why I haven’t quite been able to bring myself to bring in Caleb Daniel.

  3. Out: Petruccelle and Gibbons
    In: Westhoff and Answerth

Westhoff way under priced if he can replicate last season with scores like Rd 1 and the last 2 weeks. I feel hesitant on Westhoff due to those 4 weeks of under 70. He will act a great swap for Gawn and Grundy in the bye rounds

    1. It might turn into a double downgrade and then try and bring in Macrae next week. However, having 3 rookies on field in the fwd line needs to be dealt with soon. Can’t be relying on them so much, a premo must come in soon, but trying to work it with these byes doesn’t do many favours

      7

  4. TU Double downgrade Clark + Gibbo -> Answerth + Hately (provided named)
Gives plenty of cash in the bank for a fallen macrae and Lloyd next week through Constable and rozee

TD Clark + Drew -> Answerth + Kelly
Strengthens my field for next weeks matchup for leagues and helps OR

    22

    6
    1. TU: Scrimshaw & Petruccelle out, C.Daniel & Answerth in.
      TD: Brayshaw or libba out
Want Daniel in but might have to get rid of Libba/Brayshaw first 🙁

      4

      12
  5. Have $330k in the bank…

    Out: Gibbons and Pettrucelle
    In: Jake Lloyd and Larkey

Swinging Darcy Moore forward and Setterfield into the mids to make it happen.

    TU: Yes
    TD: No

    8

    19
    1. If you must pick a forward rookie this week, I’d be choosing Corbett over Larkey. Otherwise, find a way to get Hately or Answerth instead.

      10

      0
    2. Larkey not that flash this weekend.

Lloyd? Can you wait for a week or two and get Whitfield?

      1

      0
  6. I have Libba Rocky & BCrouch and I suspect it is time to say bye bye for Libba and Rocky.

    Out: Libba & Rocky
    In: The Bont and Hately

Gives me about $363K in the bank

    T/up – good trades
    t/dwn – bad trades

    13

    34
    1. Not sure why the majority of thumbs down so if someone would explain that would be great.
      Maybe this one then:
      Out: Libba & Gibbins/Constable
      In: The Bont & Hately

Personally not sure that Hately will even get named with Kelly & maybe Deledio to come in.
For what its worth I expect Andrews to replace Answerth next round as well if fit.

      21

      3
      1. I didn’t thumb down but I worry about the Bont and hate trading out premiums before I trade out all rookies. That said, I reckon Rocky had hurt his shoulder again.

I traded Bont in tonight but Bevo is just so hard to read that I think I’ll spend up on Neale or risk Treloar.

        3

        2
      2. Lester is more likely to go out for Andrews. The threat to Answerth could be Zac Bailey. Hodge could be rested as well.

        3

        1
        1. The bont is SC’s love child.

I cannot think of a player who gets a more favourable SC/DT ratio.

          1

          1
  7. TU: Scrimshaw & Petruccelle out, C.Daniel & Answerth in.
    TD: Brayshaw or libba out
Want Daniel in but might have to get rid of Libba/Brayshaw first

    9

    5
  8. Petruccelle to Bines (will save a trade later since I have ROB)
    Gibbons to Dunkley

Dunkley opens up the mid/fwd swing – have good cover on both lines so having a non-playing in Bines doesn’t hurt
Risky but hoping the dogs’ good win keeps Dunkley in the middle

    TU: yes
    TD: no

    15

    4
    1. I dont think this is the week to bring in Bines, look at all the good rookies on the bubble you are passing on.

      7

      3
  9. Feels good to finally get the upgrades coming in! Acted early on Answerth last week in anticipation of a double upgrade.

    Out: Walsh & Petrucelle
    In: Fyfe & C. Daniels

    TU) Rate it
    TD) Hate it

    21

    46
  10. Will downgrade gibbons this week

Next trade: already have bont, macrae and dunkley so feel Daniel is probably too heavy on bulldogs players, yet I want boak too who is same bye yet expensive.

    Early thoughts:

    Petrucelle to:
    TU: boak
    TD: Daniel plus $

    Cheers coaches!

  11. Totally frustrated & sick of the scoring from M Crouch & Cogs. Rage trading both out tonight….until I calm down. Will keep Cogs for now, but have decided that Crouch just isn’t supercoach friendly, so will be looking at trading him to Fyfe or Bont, unless there’s more carnage come Thursday night.
Danger as captain hasn’t improved my mood.

    3

    32
      1. M Crouch is only rated the 9th highest scoring Mid in SC… surely you can do better as an M5-8, Lisa. I say trade away 🙂

        9

        13
  12. Libba and Butters have to go this week.
Brought in Answerth last round, so Hately is the only rookie I’m looking to bring in this round.
At the moment its looking like Libba to T. Kelly and Butters to Hately (if named). Leaves me with around $400k in the bank, which will allow for Gibbons/Petruccelle up to Bont/Macrae/J. Kelly next week.

    12

    0
  13. My fwd line on field is Danger, Heeney, Dunkley, Drew, Baker, Petrucelle.
If both named for third game , what should take priority?

TU: C.Daniel & Answerth in (Petrucelle and Collins out)
TD: Answerth & Hately in for Gibbons and Collins, then Petrucelle>Daniel next week.

    12

    4
  14. I’m thinking a double downgrade on Gibbons and Petruccelle. Their B.E’s pretty much match their average.

    Sound good?

    23

    1
  15. Double trade this week:

T/U: Clark > Answerth, Gibbons > Hately ,leaves 300k for next week
    T/D: Clark > Answerth, Drew > Westhoff, 130 k in the Bank
(Comment “FYFE”): Rockliff > Fyfe, Clark > Answerth

    11

    3
  16. T/u Answerth
    T/D Hately

Comment both however have funds for Fyfe and need to make up points to improve on 6549 ranking sooner rather then later. Looking at trading Butters and Scott and retaining Setters and Atkins for a couple weeks.
    Cheers

    5
  17. Liberatore and Butters, out
Answerth and a mid yet to be decided, in. Shortlist is Pendles, Fyfe, Yeo

    6

    1
    1. Fyfe…and lock yourself in for the ride. Just don’t know if that will be a 120+ average for the rest of the season and a second Brownlow, or the frustration of another injury/suspense and another trade. Fast becoming my next Rocky (traded Rocky so many times last few years he’s on the never again). Already traded Fyfe twice this year, but he is a guaranteed top 3-5 averaging player when on the park.

      0

      7
    2. Yeo has looked better recently and he rarely misses games. Fyfe will average higher but surely he misses a game or two by Rd 23?

My short list is Neale, Treloar and Yeo…

      7

      0
    1. Will there even be any rookies on the bubble after R8?
The only first gamer’s last week were Keilty (40) and Stocker (21), who didn’t exactly set the SC world on fire.

That’s why I’m thinking the same double downgrade to Answerth & Hately (If named) would be a good option this week.

    1. Ni fking context. Pleases tell us more about ur team. Hately expensive. You should look to upgrade libba

      1

      27
      1. 6k in the bank thinking of trading Clark to Answerth, which gives me about 125k. Already done a lot of upgrades. Here’s my team:

LLoyd, Hurn, Whitfield, Williams, B Smith, Hore (Duursma, Clark)

Cripps, Neale, Fyfe, M Crouch, B Crouch, Libba, Walsh, Constable (Stack, Ross, Atkins)

        Gawn, Goldstein (O’Brian)

Danger, Kelly, Daniel, Moore, Drew, Baker (Petruccelle, Bines)

What should i do? 21 trades left *ouch*

        3

        0
    2. Putting PA being insufferable as usual aside.

I’m not too sure about that move, TK.

The consensus apparently is to move Libba on but I have concerns about Hately’s JS. He wasn’t a straight replacement for Ward when he went down and was only a late-in this week for Kelly- and with Deledio pushing for selection, the JS just isn’t there for Hately atm.

      11

      1
  18. Committed a cardinal sin and went a week early on Answerth. Looks like it’ll work out.

Thinking of going Butters and Gibbons to Hayley and …

    T/U – Coniglio
    T/D – Fyfe

    1

    30
  19. Should i go for Brayshaw > Penlebury ?? or just bring in Fyfe i said Pendlebury because they have carlton nextweek so it might be a good score coming

    2

    1
  20. T/U
    LIBBA -> HATELY (IF NAMED)
    BREUST -> DANIEL

    T/D
    LIBBA -> HATELY
    CONSTABLE -> BONT

DON’T BE ASKING WHY I HAVE BREUST IN THE TEAM, HOWEVER DOING T/D WILL LEAVE ME WITH A LOT OF CASH TO MAYBE BRING IN MACRAE NEXT WEEK ALTHOUGH DON’T WANT BREUST IN THE TEAM ANYMORE BECAUSE OF OBVIOUS REASONS

    4

    15
      1. Hawthorn’s run gets pretty tough over the next month, with GWS, Tigers, Port and Brisbane away; so I don’t see Breust kicking too many, thus not scoring well.

If you haven’t used too many trades, I’d off-load him to a Caleb Daniel or Tim Kelly.

        3

        0
  21. At Roo Bloke HQ they’re pretty much all on the chopping block. Want the cheat codes so I can make 25 trades in a round.

    18

    0
  22. so lads I’m thinking of going petruccelle > moore & Scrimshaw > answerth. Then next week going Duursma > Sicily & Drew > Boak.

    TU: Solid idea
    TD: Bad idea
Any feed back would be appreciated!

    18

    6
  23. Double downgrade for me this week.

    Scrimshaw – Answerth
    Gibbons – Hately

Leaves me with 480k in the bank with an eye towards Kelly and/or Lloyd next week.

    10

    0
  24. Should i make this trade Butters, Constable > Bontempeli, Lockhart ??

I decided to keep brayshaw until nextweek if he does shit he is out

    1

    7
  25. Upgrade Libba to Uberpremium and downgrade Butters to Hately?

TU – Go for it bud
TD – Hold Libba but do Butters trade

    18

    1
  26. Got answerth in this week so thinking of libba n Clark out swing Moore to backline and get in hately and Daniel
    TU yes
    TD no
    Currently ranked 281

    11

  27. I know it’s just after lockout but I’m set upon trading libba to either the bont or macrae! Who do you think is the better option and why ?
    T/U: Bont
    T/D: Macrae

    18

    17
    1. Macrae as he’s barely left put any effort in yet and is averaging 113. Bont will play more forward as the dogs struggle to score. Macrae from here on in should average 5-15 ppg more than Bont.

      10

      3
    2. I would get the Bont.
His price is riding making him harder to trade in future whilst Macrae’s price is dropping so will be cheaper in a couple more weeks.
In addition with the dogs playing GWS next round who do you think DeBoer will tag. I would bet on Macrae getting tagged as the Bont would be just too big

      1

      6
  28. Looking to get Mcrae or Bont.who to trade out for one?

    T/u : Libba
    T/d : b.crouch

Crouch is slightly more expensive then libba and averaging less btw

    25

    1
  29. Righto team, tough decision this week. Gibbons > Answerth is a lock this week, this is where I need some help please:

T/U: Petruccelle > Hately via DPP’s (unsure of his JS and means I have to field Balta however leaves me with 326k to double upgrade next week)

T/D: Petruccelle > Hoff (only 72k leftover, not sure where I’m going to be making cash from in terms of rookies coming through)

If I go option 1 the following week will be upgrading to the Hoff (or another premo fwd) meaning I’ll only be fielding Balta for 1 week.

Any thoughts in the comments is appreciated too, thanks!

    6

  30. OUT: Butters & Collins
    IN: Hately & Answerth
$410k in the bank ready for Macrae straight in next week

    T/U – Yes
    T/D – No

    10

  31. This week: Answerth for Scrimshaw, C.Daniel for Libba via T.Kelly (DPP put him at mid for just this round)
Next week: Clark down to a rookie, Petruccelle out for Macrae via Kelly (DPP put him back into the forward line)
    TU: Good trades, pretty creative
    TD: No, bad trades

    8

    0
  32. i’ll be waiting to hear about Danger’s right knee/left ankle or vice versa before I do anything, it could blow our trade planning out the window, i might have to trade in to accommodate him being on the bench for a week or 2, i don’t think any of my benched rookies are capable of much over 60 points.

    10

    1
    1. Surely with Whitfield and kelly to come back in potentially this week, hately the late inclusion would have pretty shaky security despite playing a decent game

Answerth I’m not really sure on, Andrews and bailey to come in, is he the one to go?

      4

      0
  33. Collins, Clark, Petrucelle and Libba are all due for the chopping block. Collin’s and Clark have made ~$100k each and Petrucelle and Libba have made ~$150k each. Libba is projected to lose $20k next week while the others are projected to lose <$1k.

    TU: downgrade Libba this week
TD: hold Libba and prioritise the rookies.

    14

    1
  34. Why are people jumping off rocky? He’s a top 8 mid comfortably if he stays fit. He was on 50 at QT last round and copped a knock which explains his poor form since then. 8 day break, should bounce back and post a 120.

    7

    5
  35. Argh… trade Libba, Rocky or B.Crouch? (TU) or hold them all? (TD). They are all priced similar, all averaging in the 90s and all plummeting. Usually I’d hold and get rid of a rookie but worried with all three..

    0

    9
  36. I feel like I have 3 players I need to move on, Libba, Gibbons and Petrucelle. Do I…

T/U Double downgrade to Answerth and Hately

T/D Libba > the Bont, Gibbons/Petrucelle to Answerth

    6

    6
      1. Am leaning towards that option. I currently have no DPP in my mid so would be good getting Answerth there, plus I’m not fully convinced on Hately’s JS.

        0

        0
  37. Who to trade in…

    TU Sicily

    TD laird

Already have Lloyd, Hurn & Williams.

Will be looking at bringing in Whitfield in a couple of weeks once his price has dropped.

    11

    8
  38. Had a shocker this week and am carrying too many passengers Burgess, Setterfield & Scott
Add to that Constable & Clark
    Did upgrade Libba to Fyfe.

    So;
    Collins and butters out

    Thinking double downgrade this week
providing Answerth and Hayley get named.
    Also depending on Dangers knee.

Double up next week to Macrae and Lloyd

Ideally would prefer 1 up 1 down these two weeks but not sure if there will be a down option next week.

TU: double downgrade then 2 premos next week
TD: 1 up / 1 down both weeks

    Thanks coaches

    3

    2
  39. Double downgrade this week
    J.Clark to Ainsworth
    Setterfield to Moore

Allows me 400k in the bank and can upgrade 2 more rookies next week then with only 3 rookies on field…
    Thoughts??

    3

    1
  40. Is pendles in the top 8 mids I think so based on form has got a new role in the middle with a more kick rather than handball game
    yes or no?

    2

    7
  41. At this stage, thinking of going:
    Drew > Answerth (via Burgess)
Shit stain Butters > Yeo (looks back to his best and over his preseason niggle, reckon he can avg 110 from here on out)

Leaves 200k to go Libba > Macrae & Smith > Laird next week. Thoughts?

    0

    3
    1. Is smith to laird really a upgrade scoring about the same and Smith is getting some time on a wing now…

      6

      1
      1. It’s a fair point, just get the sense that Laird is more likely to run out the season scoring well. I reckon his best is still ahead of him this year whereas Smith imo is getting close to maxing out in price and output. Never averaged more than 93 in a season, which incidentally is his avg this year. Already planning to have Williams as D6, and I believe Laird is a keeper that has the capacity to go 105 here on out, whereas Smith I can see reverting to around a 90 avg.

        2

        1
  42. T/U setterfield to Moore
    T/D gibbons to Hatley

Only problem with Hatley is job security

    1

    3
  43. Hi Guys,

Need some help with this one:
    T/U : Walsh to Fyfe
    T/D: Nah, keep Walsh.

Note that, Walsh has a break-even of 97 – I’m not sure he will be making that much money any more ?
    Thoughts appreciated.

    2

    13
  44. Duursma/Wilkie to Luke Ryan and Gibbons to Hately. 200k remaining.

    TU: Yes
    TD: No
    Comment alternatives.

    Cheers all.

  45. What is a good defender to trade for want to trade out scrimshaw and collins i have 752,500 in the bank

    0

    1. Llyod, Hurn and Laird. I’d say Whitfield but he’s about to go down in price so best to wait on that boat like I am.

      2

  46. Out: BScott and Burgess
    In: Answerth and Hately

Leaves 100k in the chest with a 1 up 1 down next week possible to either bont, caleb daniel or whitfield depending on my byes.

    TU Yes
    TD No

    3

    4
  47. Libba must go … Gibbons a tough matchup with Collingwood … so was thinking:
    OUT – Libba & Gibbons

IN – Fyfe & Answerth (in DEF via Setterfield & Moore DPP)

T/U – Good trades, do it

T/D – Keep Gibbons for another week & trade out Petruccelle

    11

    1
  48. decided to double downgrade last round ….considering the unthinkable…

Round 8: Walsh & Libba to Fyfe & Cunnington (Treloar and Yeo are not good options given their R13 bye)

    Round 9: Smith to Lloyd/Ryan

ROB is accumulating nicely on the side (so another easy upgrade from there)

Gives me 16 genuine premiums and 20 trades

    TU: sound strategy
TD: hold the midpricers a little longer

    4

    4
  49. Trade walsh out hatley then upgrade butters to mcrae or another premuim midfielder any other optionsthoughts?

    5

    5
  50. Thinking of going aggressive…

TU: Drew and Walsh out for Fyfe and Daniel
TD: Gibbons and Pettrucelle out for Lloyd and Hately

    3

    14
  51. Trading out Collins for Answerth
Thinking about what to do with Libba:
TU: Upgrade to premium mid (Pendlebury?)
TD: Downgrade to Hately if named
Other premium mids I have are Cripps, Neale, Fyfe, MCrouch, Oliver

  52. so WORPEL is not doing good in supercoach term so i want to trade him out im looking to trade him out for Caleb Daniels because he is in form looks like he can bring a good score for my forward.

    1

    6
  53. I’m currently on 24 trades left with 228k in the bank. My team is looking nice but I’m just wondering if this trade is worth it (assuming both players play)

    Butter > Hately
    Collins > Answerth
This would leave me with 517k banked

    TU Yes (If playing)
    TD No

  59. T/U
Constable to Hately & Breust to Larkey
(will have 21 trades left, however can bring in 2 big premos as I will have $562,400 in the bank)
    T/D
Constable to Hately & Libba to Bont
(still will have 21 trades left. I will only have $133,300 in the bank and will might not be able to upgrade to Boak next week)
    Thoughts?

  60. Scrimshaw and Butters need to go this week.

Answerth to come in for one of them.

My main dilemma is whether I go for an upgrade (will be able to afford anybody under $500K), so not really a full premo. Or do I go for a double downgrade and upgrade next week?

    Thoughts appreciated.

    Cheers.

      1. Cheers mate, I’m leaning that way I think.

Answerth & Hateley might make their way in.

  63. I had Hately from the start and bought Answerth last week.

What’s the next best option to down grade Butters to?

Also thoughts on Brad Crouch out for Mundy?

  64. who’s the best option for FWD rookie this week?
Looking at Corbett or D.Moore, but don’t know much about their job security.

    What’s everyone’s thoughts?

    1. I’d probably go Corbett. It’s his spot to lose. Feel that Clarko tends to manage/omit rookies a little more than most.

  65. Thinking of a double downgrade this week.

If all are named I’d pick two of the following:

    Collins > Answerth
    Gibbons > Hately
    Petruccelle > Corbett

Obviously depends on team selections Thursday night.

    1. Think it’s a good idea IF two are named. But not sure about their respective JS’s.
Still, it doesn’t look like there are (m)any on the horizon at the minute, so maybe grab ‘me while you can!
      Good luck with team selections!

    1. Am steering well clear of any doggies that I don’t already own. Mr Magnets causes way too many headaches!

  66. Hey SCT’ers

Answerth is a lock for Butters

I can then go either DEF/ MID or FWD should I go…

    TU – T.Kelly
    TD – T.Stewart
Comment for a MID under 525k
    Collins or Unakie-Davies gone

    Cheers

    1. Grab Kelly now, wait on Stewart, his price should drop a little with Touhy back, but still fairly good chance of being top 6.
