So how many of these low-scoring rookies are coming out this week? Can we even upgrade to anyone of note?

  1. lads seriously am I the only 1 who’s looking at throwing Treloar under the bus..

i know I know you started with him but geez Louise already..

    1. I have similar thoughts on JPK right now but best to upgrade the rookies where possible……

  2. Was always looking to trade Buddy in this week. But will have to fork out the extra 30k though. 470k is still a bargain.

    Houston > Franklin

    Hampton > Z. Williams

Zac is only owned by 2.7% so a massive POD. Improving every week and should average 95+ here on out.

    Thoughts on Heeney people?

    29

    1
    1. Buddy will have his highs & lows but Heeney looks a consistent 90-110 each week. Should still be around $455k this week and SYD draw opens up shortly. Very tempting…..

  3. Few bad weeks in a row now, but have a cool 600k banked to hopefully rectify the ongoing train-wreck that my side has become.

    Hampton > Simpson
    Beams > Neale

      1. There’s that feeling that Beams’ 2-3 week quad could just be pushed to the bye weekend. Possible 5 weeks and who knows thereafter. I’d say he’s borderline priority trade from 7 days ago

  4. Gotta trade beams this week. But just checking latest BE Otten has BE of 90 and Hampton 91! So I have to get rid of both of them and beams with 2 trades….. Well im in some strife. Only have 77k in the bank as well.

    I have two choices
Choice 1- Beams – Pendles and Hampton downgrade (hopefully mcneise gets a recall)

Choice 2 – Hampton and otten one up one down and field balic again in the mid

    1

  5. some very High BE’s are worrying me from rookies.
Hampton is definitely getting the cut.

TU: Otten’s 90 has to go
TD: Houstons 62 is more urgent

    40

    15
  6. hampton -> mcniece (pending selection)
    otten -> lloyd

are we all convinced that lloyd is a top 6-10 def? also sydney as a team will definitely improve from now on and he should too

    16

    2
    1. 106 with pretty much a full side Sydney back he looks the goods. Need to start thinking about the byes and I need playing defenders the first week so will wait until after the byes.

    2. I’m planning to make the same trade. Lloyd looks super consistent and can’t resist the cheapness of mcniece

  7. My season officially ended in a screaming heap today, so what the hell
    Hampton and Butler out
    Heeney and Shaw in

    27

  8. If I boot Hampton and Otten I am left with 991k to spend on 2 defenders.

TU: Doc and Mcniece (if he is named)

TD: double upgrades > JJ/Rance and a 520k or less most likely Simpson/Williams

    3

    33
  9. TU: Beams to Pendles/Rocky and Otten to Lloyd/Williams (20k left)
TD: Hampton to McNiece and Otten to Docherty (233k left)

    24

    5
  10. I’ve stuffed up my rookie selections so far so why stop now…In comes Randolf’s mate “Mortimer”

    7

  11. Is it just me or are there zero def & fwd rookies on the bubble that played this week?

Was looking to downgrade Hampton, Stewart, Taranto etc but then realised to who???

    If McNiece doesn’t get a call up, then I don’t know what….

    2

    2
    1. Bit of extra money but Berry could be an option @ 170k. Should generate cash and has DEF/MID swing. Desperate times….

I’m hoping Scharenberg gets a gig soon, and Luke Ryan is building nicely in the WAFL so hopefully gets a game in the near future

      8

      1
    2. Exactly why I bit the bullet and went a double downgrade the last two weeks. Fisher, Balic, Parsons and EVW. None are setting the world on fire, but I’m confident they’ll at least get some games over the next month.

      6

      1
  12. Both of my trades last week backfired. Bought in Hibberd & Parsons ๐Ÿ™

Keen to get eveyones thoughts on either Heeney or K Stevens. I get that Heeney is getting more time in the midfield but is K Stevens a better option given he has a better scoring history?

    TU: Heeney
    TD: K Stevens

Currently fwds are , Dallhause, Greene, Nank, Steele, WHE, Butler, Hous, Parons

    28

    5
  13. Anyone having a look at Michael Johnson?

Started the year really poorly, like a lot of his side and after a fair lay off. Has consistently increased his scores and been consistently over 100 the last 3 weeks, in both wins and losses. Currently only $435,000 but wont be anywhere near that cheap for long.

Has been a solid supercoach player in the past before some injuries, is getting on a bit but i’m thinking he could be worth the risk in a year when every dollar seems to count.

    1

    29
  14. Otten and Hampton you are out
    Welcome a rookie and Docherty

Gonna hold Beams for one more week as ‘savings’ for either Bont or pendles next week

    10

    1
  15. McGovern, Rance or JJ? There the best players i can afford for Hampton without a downgrade elsewhere. Don’t want to trade McNiece in for him (McNiece, Stewart, Newman D6-8 way to risky),

    4

    0
  16. Otten stays for reasons.

    Hopefully McNeice comes back.

    Hampton/Butler to
    McNeice/ (Too ashamed to say)

    7

    0
      1. Yep, I’m thinking of holding, which is annoying as I’m striking distance of completing my team.

But if I go too early I’ll struggle to navigate through the byes :/

        1

        0
  17. Trade Hampton to McNeice (if he is selected)

    Then Otten to Roberton?

I am wondering why no-one is talking in trading him in only in 2% of teams.

    15

    3
  18. Which Eagles player to bring in?

    TU Josh Kennedy
    TD Elliot Yeo

Really help with the byes or Heeney?

    13

    32
  19. Looking for a downgrade option for otten. The replacement wont be onfield.
T/u go a week late on berry who is still under 200k and has a low be. This also opens up the mid/def swing for me
T/d go a week early on myers

    7

    5
  20. Didn’t think about Otten until I read this thread…what has changed to bring on his demise? Haven’t seen many Crows games has he gone down back?

  21. Hampton –> McNeice
    Otten –> ?

    T/U – Lloyd (leaves 161.5k ITB)
    T/D – Docherty (leaves 70.5k ITB)

    3

    24
      1. Agree, both underperforming and annoying to own (I have them both) but suggest holding and addressing other issues – they should be fine, just in form slumps

        15

        2
    1. When you run out of trades, you’ll regret punting a premium which is having a form slump… there will be teams watching these blokes to pounce once their form turns around at their great low prices… my two cents…

      20

      2
    1. Wow.

Didn’t think it was that conclusive. Been very impressed by Lloyd and his consistency whereas Shaw’s role seems to have changed a bit.

      Alas, the tribe has spoken.

      4

      3
  22. OUT: Otten + Hampton
    IN: Laird + Lloyd

$431k left in the bank to finish off the forward line next week (hopefully Butler and SPP to Macrae and Buddy/Heeney/NRoo).

Will leave me with one defender and two mids left to upgrade, and 16 trades to do it with.

    17

    0
  23. looking at some upgrades in defence which is a better pair

TU: Rance And Simpson 4.7k left
TD: Lloyd and Montagna 200 left

    16

    6
  24. Trading Hampton and O’meara out with a standard 1 up 1 down.

    Deciding between some combination of:
    Dusty and EVW
    Macrae and McNeice

Could obviously also take Dusty, McNeice and keep 60k in the bank

  25. Some interesting discussion being generated in the Hamptotten thread. Hampton to Lloyd is happening this week, I’m set on that. Thoughts from the people on these options for trade #2:

    TU: Otten -> Laird
    TD: Butler -> Heeney

    12

    13
  26. Trade #1 – Beams to Merrett. For approx. $70 changeover I reckon a bargain.
Really really really really want to trade Kennedy from Swans but have other issues more pressing.
I will hold Ottens & Hampton this week as I have been burning a few trades.
Looking at upgrades to Neale, Rockliff & Docherty (if he ever has a crap game and loses some value) during the the byes.
I also think holding on Swallow will be extremely beneficial by the end of the byes.

    3

    1
    1. Hang tough on Kennedy, he’s still averaging 100 and Sydney have been really poor. Back him to return to the 110-115 average when the form line lifts. Might not be top 10 overall but could plausibly be top 10 for the back half of the season.

      5

      0
  27. Already considering Captaincy options and I think Titch will go big against the lions.

    TU: Bont into Titch
    TD: Titch into Danger

    11

    6
  28. What are people’s thoughts on Jimmy Webster as a sneaky POD D6. Priced at only 387k, 3 of his last 4 scores have been 90 or more. Played 60 games so in prime breakout territory, and is a beautiful kick, and the saints try and get it into his hands. Is there enough points with Roberton and Joey back there, I think if he can average 85+ he could be a viable option and save some cash for other upgrades?

    6

    9
  29. finally think I have decided on 2 possible upgrades I can do.

TU: Otten and Hampton > Simpson and Rance (suits my byes)

TD: WHE and Otten > Buddy and Doc (cleans out my bank and means I have to take Hamptons price hit)

    7

    11
    1. Go Simpson and Rance, both underpriced and reliable top 8-10, Hampton is more pressing to go from a points and cash perspective than WHE is and in addition to that it suits your bye structure. Hope to get doc after the bye

  30. Need some advice from the SCT community. My current team has gone from bad to worse. I’m having one of those seasons where not much has gone right. Here is my team as it stands now

Doc, Shaw, Thoey, Ottens, Hampton, Marchbank
    Newman, Stewart

Bont, Pendles, Danger, Selwood, JJK, Fyfe, SPP, Balic,
    Fisher, Barrett, Hibberd

    Nank, Sandi,
    Stran….

Dalhouse Macrae, Yeo Rough Butler Parsons
    Pickett Eddy

    340k

I’m thinking Ottens and Butler to Adams and Heeney but would love some suggestions as to what I should do.

    0

    2
    1. Looking at your current Rd 11 Bye structure you have 6 premiums missing, 4 rookies missing, the loophole and 3 rookies looking unlikely to play in RD11. This leaves 16 players available as the worst case scenario.

With your remaining salary I would look to offload Marchbank in the next fortnight before his bye for a Rd 13 bye defender such as T Adams. With the dynamic duo of Otten and Hampton you should keep them till their bye and then offload in Rd13 for premiums such as K Simpson, L Montagna, etc.

SPP to Myers next week should free up 150,000 thus increasing your balance to around 500,000. Hold the amount till the byes then upgrade Rd 11 midpricers/rookies.

      6

      1
    2. Mateo mate, your team looks good. It is just that it is similar to the majority of teams out there as it has used the same formula of premiums and rookies. It only works when all premium are firing enough to cover the rookies while they are getting fat.
In your case, you are carrying too many passengers: Ottens, Hampton, Marchbank, SPP, Balic, Parsons, Butler…
You need to give more balance to your team and you are about 6 players away for a competitive team.
The premium players will eventually come good, Make sure you nail the byes and your rookies upgrade.
Also in my opinion You have too many premium players and too many rookies/low scoring. You need to pop up your team with Average scoring players but reliable (75-90) as this year , with not so many gun rookies, that’s the way to go in reckon.
Everyone is stressing about premium players, but this year none is consistently giving 130+ every week or often enough and are tying down too much money.
My advice would be : Balance your team sooner rather than later and don’t chase the premium/fallen premiums or bandwagon of points chasers.
Adams and Heeney are a move in the right direction if they are final target.
How many trades do you have left?

  31. What a weird season so far, to all of you that are considering getting rid of non performing premo’s, good luck with that.

    12

    0
  32. Otten to mcniece (if named)
I will then have dochertry, Laird, Howe, marchbank, Hampton , mcniece (newman , Stewart)

    Then florent to bont

Then my midfield is complete, bont, t Mitch, fyfe, pendles, danger , trealor, Kennedy , Steele
    (Barret, picket , Fisher)

    Bank 61.5k

  33. Time for Oliver to go or is he now a keeper???
    Looking at Oliver to Bont.

    T/U Keeper
    T/D Trade for Bont

    8

    12
  34. T/U – Adams

    T/D – JJ + 100k

Because of the bleak rookies on the horizon (+ poor cash accumulation to date) I can’t help but feel that 100k will come in handy when it comes to upgrading someone next week

    15

    2
  35. Hey SCT coaches,

Falling painfully short of $$$ to do the double upgrade this week unfortunately, so pending selections I’m down to these 2 choices….but which one to do this week?

T/U…..Otten (be 90) > T Adams (be 84) playing GWS away at Spotless
T/D….Houstan (be 62) > Heeney (be 42) playing Kangers away at Etihad

    Cheers in advance, Catta

  36. If it helps people I’m looking to get in Doc this week. Going by my last three trades he’ll hit a form slump and drop in price for the rest of you to pick up cheaper after the byes.

    You are all welcome

    12

    1. Gone last week. If anything has been learnt from JOM/Swallow this year it’s run.

Edit: Latest medical report is out and it says “Beams is running strongly again and will be reassessed next week with the hope he will play in round nine.”

Probably a gut call. Usually my call with injured premiums is, if I can sideways a premium and still get another with my other trade, then I’ll pull the trigger. If you only end up with 1 premium regardless, then I hold as my team will still be increasing in premiums despite holding.

      5

      0
      1. Im in the same delima with beams. If beams is back by round 9 id be more beneficial to trade out Otten to a premo. However if beams isnt back then trading beams to a premo would be better for my plans. Tough call that needs to be made this week!

Leaning towards just trading beams and be done with it at this stage but after reading that report that is running strongly im torn.

  37. Taking out JOM.
I’m choosing between Cotchin and Z Merrett. Similar prices I think Zac has the lower break even and he’s dropped more in price.

    TU COTCHIN
    TD MERRETT

    18
    1. I’ll go Cothin, just because he is the captain in a side that looks like playing the finals, so they will win few games and that always helps the scoring. Besides he is very up and down but still averaging over 90 for few years now. So a proven gun. Merrett had a break out season last year and I had him but his scores may go down when Watson, Zaharakis, Heppell .. start hitting real form and the points will be shared. I’ll give him until after the byes..too much options out there

  38. lads earlier in the week I was thinking about trading Treloar, cool heads have prevailed.. I had no idea the kid is carrying some sort of injury which the Pies are being coy about.. would explain he’s so so form.. have 2 trades I’m pretty sure about pending TLT

    Hampton Out – McNiece In
    WHE Out – Yeo In

    T/U Yes
    T/D No

  39. Hello Fantasy Fortune Tellers

    Jeremy Howe

T/U Howe on Earth could you think of getting rid of him now.

T/D Howe many black and white passengers are there? You’re off the train with Pert and Buckley.

    Depending selections. Hampton toโ€ฆ…

    Someone with a R11 Bye.

T/D .Yeo Yeo โ€ฆ..DPP. maybe the real deal. $525K.

  41. Why should i get Shaw over lloyd or vice versa. Everyone seems to tell me to get shaw even though lloyd hasn’t gone under 85 odd?
Don’t care about the byes btw….

Already have Adams, Docherty, Laird and Tuohey.. Thanks

    1. Roberton is in a rich vein of form. Saints new defensive structure with Brown and Carlisle has freed him up. He’s the real deal IMO.

      3

  44. Is this a sign from above?

    JJ Kenedy costs $515,200
    Pickett $164,300 + my bank $250,900 = $515,200
Would leave exactly $0 left (assuming no other trades)

  45. Which premium defender to bring in for Otten?

Roberton, Heath Shaw, Jake Lloyd, Zac Williams, Zak Jones or Docherty?

Unsure about Docherty as I already have Marchbank and Simpson in the backline.

    Or other suggestions?

  46. 22 trades left
    coach’s thought’s on this idea
trade Ottens to Berry to free up some much needed funds,
as I think Berry’s JS seems ok compared to other rookies
    trade Houston to Nankervis
I probably missed the Nank band wagon, but as I have Sandi and Witts,
    bench-strnadica
he’s good coverage for the bye rds, and he’s looking like a top 6 fwd possibly
    ( ave 105)
    leaves me with $187,00
which helps with the upcoming upgrades of WHE-M’bank-SPP-Taranto etc
    T/U good trades
    T/D bad trades
    thoughts?
