Billings is gone…..I reckon eight Rounds is long enough to carry his useless scores. That’s my rage trade…….what are you thinking about?

  1. Currently considering:

    Out: J Finlayson, A Naughton
    In: E Yeo, I Cumming

Def and mid will just about be complete with only 1 upgrade left in each line.
    Def: M Hurley, R Laird, K Simpson, J Sicily, E Yeo, T Doedee, (I Cumming, D Mirra)
    Mid: N Fyfe, D Martin, T Mitchell, C Oliver, S Coniglio, J Kelly, T Kelly, D Zorko, ( N Holman, A Brayshaw, C Spargo)

  2. Because there’s no good downgrade targets this week, I think it’s time to do a corrective trade and give Curnow the boot. Just hasn’t shown enough to be considered a keeper. So with my 88k in the bank I’ll just upgrade him to a proper forward premo (and probably correct my mistake last week and getting Darling in for good this time).

  3. I don’t even know where to start after a week like that, i am going to sit in the corner first and contemplate my sc season. I know i am not the only one doing this

  4. Billings! Hoped for 5 weeks he would come good but alas I’m dumping him this week. Am over him and will be glad to p@*s him off

  5. Not sure what to do this week as there are no good downgrade targets

  6. Had a great week. Got in Ronke (on field) and Spargo + $308k in the bank and no injuries. The world is my oyster.

    1. The Lions version of Rocky is a steal at the price. But I am not sure what the Port version of Rocky is worth yet.

      14

      0
        1. Yep. Port brought rocky and Powell pepper in to the team to address contested ball deficiencies.
Rocky had the most disposals(31, 17 by hand, 14 kicks at 61% and 9 tackles.
If port play him in the mids he is a bargain. I’d be waiting a couple of weeks (after his bye at least)to see how they use him before considering a trade.

          1. I knew a few others would have seen that 98 pop up as well – definitely agree about post-byes as we’ll know if it’s legit (and his price won’t go up by more than 10-15k). I’m targeting him for M9 (hopefully will be good cover through the byes).

  7. $606,200 S.Murry & B.Banfield – A.Treloar & J.Sciily. $71,600 remaining.
    T/U Good Trade
    T/D Bad Trade

      1. Yeah think it’s time for that Player Of Difference. Already have Macrae, Fyfe, Dangerfield, Cripps, Mitchell, Martin & Kelly at M7.

Tossing up between Treloar, M.Crouch and Oliver.

        2

        1
    1. Was thinking similar myself. But Danger might be able to wait a week.

Only reason i’m considering waiting though is because i can go Finlayson or Doodee straight to Yeo or Simpson and still have coin for Holman to danger next week.

Holman could still give 5k more (BE is 44). While Finlayson and Doodee both have high BEs.

      2

      0
      1. Yeah good call, i got rid of Finlayson last week and planning to get rid of Doodee next week, prepared to take his minor loss in cash to bring in danger this week. looked much better out there yesterday and should smash the bombers. Plus it completes my midfield and dont have to worry about holmans up and down scores.

  8. Is it worth going Olango to Crosley as he provides some ruck cover during byes and has what appears to be good JS and provides some good cash generation

    t/u Yes

    t/d No

    24

    17
    1. Everyone doing thumbs down clearly think that both their ruckmen will play 22 games. What if Gawn goes down for a week? Or two? Do you just lose Gawn for the year, or take zeroes?
I got mcinerney last week, but crossley looks just as good

      9

      1
      1. How do you know Crossley and McInerney will play when you need them? Seems risky getting ruck rookies in now when they could get dropped next week. Having said that McInerney looked good and should play at least next week.

I think most people will look to deal with a potential donut when it arises.

        3

        0
  9. Think it’s time for the Petracca experiment to end only problem is he’s cheaper than most of my rookies. Thinking him and Naughton to Oliver and Keefe although I could go to Phillips or Cumming. Only problem is I would be left with only 36k.

    Tu: Do it
    Td: Too sideways

    26

    1
    1. If you still have Petracca then I suggest you keep him. A few days in hospital cost him midfield time the past couple of weeks. Expect more midfield time and increased points/$

      8

      5
      1. See even before he missed a game he only averaged 85. I feel like he wasn’t what we expected him to be.

        6

        0
      1. Still a chance Curnow misses a week for umpire contact though, yeah? Unless i’ve missed something saying he’s been let off?

        7

  10. Trade 1 – Naughton to YEO

Trade 2 – I have avoided Sicily due to his ability to get suspended. Is it time to change strategy and bring him in?

    38

    10
  11. Had the worst SC weekend for years this weekend. So definitely going a double upgrade to heal the soul. Doedde to Simpson and Finlayson to M Crouch . This only leaves me with 1 k left in the bank but man I need points .

    31

    1
  12. Actually, I think it might be time to bring DANGER in. BE of 119 next three vEss, Blues and Suns.

Anybody see him play today? Is he moving better and over injury/soreness?

    17

    2
    1. 26 touches 12 contested at 65%. His score flattered him and his BE is still 110+ so his price should stay reasonably stead I’m still waiting.

      5

      2
    2. I was there today. Granted, the view from the seats at the MCG is not the view I’m used to (live Game #2! Woo!)…but I was trying to track Danger and he looked a bit sluggish to start off, but by the 4th QTR he was doing some Danger-type things. Looked fast and seemed influential to help seal the victory for the Cats.

  13. Doedee and Naughton out
    Yeo and Simpson in
120K in the bank, will look at Brayshaw to Phillips next week

    24

    0
    1. Doing the exact same trades mate but will have about 30k more. Is brayshaw your M8 (same as me) at the moment or are you looking at getting in Philips for the cash and a better M9?

      0

      0
      1. No, I’ve got Kelly at M8. Just looking to raise some cash for future upgrades. I know it’s only been one game, but I agree that Phillips is a viable M9. Richardson must play the kids now to gain something from this train wreck of a season.

  14. Have 240K and ranked 1370, moved up over ten thousand spots from 13,000th in only two weeks so riding a bit of momentum
    Do I:
    TU:trade finlayson/doedee up to Yeo/Hurley or
TD: pull the trigger on T Kelly up to Danger to complete my mids early?
Thanks everyone for all the valuable tips this year!

    1. Wow this is very lopsided, thought it would of been a lot closer!

      Am I missing something?

Finlayson has the dpp, they both average similar & they’re both tailing off after solid starts to their AFL careers!

      6

      0
      1. I voted Finlayson based on nothing other than what I’ve seen. He looks like he needs a rest, whereas Doedee seems more likely to have another big game and make more cash.
Not very scientific I know, but there you go.

        6

        1
    2. Finlayson is good when he plays back. Cameron insists on putting him forward in the 2nd half..

Not ready for the forwardline tag

  15. No clue what do apart from naughton to cumming/keefe.

What i do know is im sick of Billings and i want him gone. Only consideration is what the hell i do with him.

Another question im pondering is when or if to bring Dusty in. My plans were bring him in next week for holman which looks to be a steal. However if i upgrade billings to someone i will be short of doing holman – dusty next week. Only other option is to downgrade Billings to Ronke/ early on Phillips. Who knows

    0

    0
  16. Ok this is the plan:

    Garlett to Keeffe this week

    Then:

Holman to Danger & Barry to Phillips (bye round for both week after too)

    T/U: YES
    T/D: NO

    10

    2
  17. Naughton and Doedee/Murray out and Yeo and either:

    T/U – Webster for a bit of a pod
    T/D- Simmo for safety.

Either way will have around 150k left itb . Cheers in advance

    6

    23
      1. Probably because he’s never played more than 18 games and he’s already been dropped once. Never scored this high either. Might also be like Roberton last year, sets the world on fire early but tails off towards the end of the year. Totally understand the thumbs down.

        4

        0
          1. Probably is getting Robertons points but I agree with the thumbs. If he keeps it up through the byes might look at moving sicily forward (again) and bringing Webster in. I just thought he might be a good POD move straight up

            0

            0
  18. Billings out.

I don’t know why I didn’t do this sooner, I guess I thought he’d be a problem I’d attend to at the end of the year but that was me thinking he’ll surely average at least 75. Now it looks like a stint in the VFL is forthcoming so I will go Billings to Phillips via Higgins (a week early but I don’t mind) and Finlayson to Yeo.
With 211k in the bank at least that should permit me to go Richards out & Doedee to Simpson, Brayshaw out & Fritsch to Gray/Danger & Higgins out Ronke to Danger/Gray over the next 3 weeks.

    3

  19. Was planning to upgrade Finlayson to Simpson this week… but pending how long Naughton is out..

    TU:
    Naughton –> Keefe
    Holman –> Danger

    TD:
    Naughton –> Keefe
    Langdon –> Westhoff

    Comment:
Bring a defensive premo like Simpson in instead

D – Laird, Sicily, Yeo, Doedee, Finlayson, Naughton (Mirra, Murphy)
M – Fyfe, Cripps, Titch, Oliver, Dusty, Cogs, T Kelly, Holman (Brayshaw, Fogarty, Barry)
F – Gray, McLean, Heeney, D Smith, Fritsch, Spargo (Langdon, Henry)

    18

    1
  20. This week:
    Garlett to Keeffe
    Naughton to Yeo

    Next week:
    T Kelly to Dangerfield
    Barry to Phillips

    T/U – Yes
    T/D – No

    9

    6
    1. Dev Smith? He’s been good for the past 3 weeks, and considering the changes necessary at Essendon he might get a more SC friendly role

  21. Thoughts on B. Gibbs coming good?
Considering trading up to Danger but don’t know much about him and really want him to pick it up.

      1. Will hold price for another week but i dont think you will see him south of 600k anytime soon (currently 604k or something)

        2

        0
      1. Thinking Stef Martin – Grundy would be great however cost is too much.

Jacobs currently averaging less than my def rookies however worth 60-70k more.

Only point to note is that Adelaide is playing Western bulldogs this week and they may go in without a ruckman, Jacobs may hit his BE this week and be a trade next week

        0

        1. read something suggesting sauce might miss this week for the birth of his kid…

i ummed and ahhed but traded him out a few weeks ago and haven’t looked back!

          0

          0
  22. From above… I can also do:

    TU:
    Naughton –> Keefe
    Holman –> Danger

    TD:
    Naughton –> Keefe
    Mirra –> Simpson

D – Laird, Sicily, Yeo, Doedee, Finlayson, Naughton (Mirra, Murphy)
M – Fyfe, Cripps, Titch, Oliver, Dusty, Cogs, T Kelly, Holman (Brayshaw, Fogarty, Barry)
F – Gray, McLean, Heeney, D Smith, Fritsch, Spargo (Langdon, Henry)

    12

    1
  23. Martin to Macrae, and Doedee to Cumming??

I still have to upgrade 1 mid, 1 def, and 2 fwd.

Traded in Howe this week so that’s a plus

    1

    26
    1. Upgrade all rookies first (barring injury to premos) then look at corrective trades if you have enough trades left

      5

      3
    1. I was hoping someone would ask this. I picked him up as a free agent in draft and he is an absolute gun! I don’t know if he can keep this run going, but hats off to you if you’re brave enough to pick him. There’s no good reason why you shouldn’t!

      2

  24. Seriously thinking of going a week early on , Phillips!

Had poise & looked AFL ready IMO, 24 touches-went at 79% de including 7 contested possessions away from home!

Watched him live v Box Hill last week in a 10 goal loss & he racked up 37, his last game before that he racked up 32 v Port…that’s 2 very handy teams at VFL level!

T/U … Holman / Brayshaw out Phillips in
& Finlayson / Doedee out Yeo in

    T/D … Wait a week ( Josh Glenn rule )

    Cheers Catta

    22

    4
  25. Probably gonna get a lot of thumbs down given the way Kelly is going but thoughts on straight swap Tim Kelly to Luke Parker ? Parker is at such a great price and won’t be this cheap again

    0

    26
    1. Don’t like Parker, think Kelly has more money to make.

Simple enough for me… also struggle to fit Parker into the top 8.

      2

  26. Brayshaw to phillips:

    Tu coniglio to oliver
    Td whitfield to oliver

Held both from start as thought would go well thinking time to upgrade and oliver is prime

    2

    21
  27. TU- Holman and Naughton > Oliver and E.Phillips (via Finlayson DPP)
TD- Petracca and Naughton > Oliver and a rookie

    14

    0
    1. If I do the first option, should I do this for next week?
TU- Finlayson and Doedee > Simpson and Cumming
      TD- Not worth the trades

      6

      0
  28. In a pickle here.

Ideally I’d like to bring Phillips in next week, however, the only guy I can logically bring him in for is Petracca (and he is going to lose a lot of value to the point where it will mess with my upgrades).
Second problem: not sure whether to do a double downgrade this week, and bring in Yeo and Simpson or whether to ignore Keefe (who has that sweet sweet DPP ability) and instead downgrade Finlayson to I. Cummings next week and bring Yeo in this week.

TU: Stuff it, do the double downgrade.
    TD: Bring Yeo in ASAP

    2

    4
    1. And of course, do let me know if you disagree with my rash Petracca decision, I just think he has left me with no choice.

      1

      0
      1. On his season average, Trac is projected to be 365K by his round 13 bye, so will actually still be worse than his current 367K price tag.

You could try and hold him until Yeo has had his R12 bye, but trading him this week is perfectly reasonable.

        0

        0
    1. I’m planning to dump Goldstein for Ryder after his bye when he has bottomed out (provided he shows he can get back to his best).

      4

      0
  29. I know we shouldn’t sideways trade, but is dusty to macrae or oliver worthwhile? Both seem more like an upgrade at the moment….

    TU: Macrae
    TD: Oliver

Comment: hold off the rage trade

    10

    7
    1. Hold off. He did a similar thing last year with regards to low scores, and he is always better after the byes.

      15

      0
  30. 2328 / Macrae / 101 points behind the leader. (!)

    10/10 league wins

I am so lucky there were no good downgrade targets in defense this week. Forced me to bring in Ronke and Yeo, and kept Naughton off the pitch.

Also lucky that my big spuds like Titch, Dusty, Heeney, and Laird are widely owned.

    5

    0
  31. Is Phillips worth bringing in for downgrade dash generation for Danger next week?

    T/U – Yes
    T/D – No

    19

    0
  32. Wimped out on webster last week and kicking myself as I had naughton on field.
Will be trading naughton out this week but still not sure whether to take a gamble on
    T/u webster
Or stick to the safe bet in
    T/d simpson for 5k more

    2

    18
  33. With Naughton hurt I now have no backups in defense. I hate having no backups. One dog bite and it is donut time. Ideally I would swap Naughton and Doedee for a defensive premium and a cow with good job security. But, there are no defensive cows with good job security. That means I should upgrade Naughton and pay for it using a cash cow from another line. No forward ready to go, so one of the mids, meaning Holman or Brayshaw. Brayshaw seems closest to done and least likely to make big cash since he has yet to score a 70+. That means with my $49,600 in the bank I have $607,900 to spend. First a downgrade target in the mids, which looks like Phillips, for $123,900 leaving me with $484,000. First name on the list, Tom McDonald. R13 bye and Def/Fwd. When I start harvest all the Fwd Cows, that could really help. His current average seems higher than I can expect him to maintain. If I assume pessimistically he will really score around 85, then he is still better and more reliable than any of the cows and he might do better. I suspect and hope I can end up very long term with him at D/F7 allowing me to cover Sicily if needed.

Or, I could bring in Webster, Hurn, or Hurley along with one of the GWS cows in defense. None of them seem a whole lot better, and I could end up really hosed if the cow I bring in loses his job. Plus I can’t actually bring in Hurn because of his bye; I am already hurting R12. Really not sold on Webster yet, maybe after a lot longer time doing well. Would have to be Hurley, who also has the R13 bye, and…the Bombers right now….agrh…..

So, thinking of Naughton and Brayshaw out for Phillips and McDonald. That leaves me with $6,400 in the bank and 19 trades.

    Current team below.

Laird, Sicily, Simpson, Yeo, Deodee, Murray
    (Naughton, Murphy)

Macrae, Fyfe, Cripps, Titch, Martin, Coniglio, T. Kelly, Spargo
    (Homan, Brayshaw, Barry)

    Gawn, Nank,
    (Cox)

Gray, McLean, Heeney, Deledio, Fisher, Ronke
    (Fritsch, Guelfi)

If do make the trade as described:

Laird, Sicily, Simpson, Yeo, McDonald, Murphy
    (Deodee, Murphy)

Macrae, Fyfe, Cripps, Titch, Martin, Coniglio, T. Kelly, Phillips
    (Homan, Spargo, Barry)

    Gawn, Nank,
    (Cox)

Gray, McLean, Heeney, Deledio, Fisher, Ronke
    (Fritsch, Guelfi)

T/U = Yes, best option is Naughton and Brayshaw –> Phillips and McDonald

T/D = Something else. If you have other ideas please comment, I’d love suggestions.

    Thanks lots!

    1. FD I would go Naughton to Keeffe, then later you can move Keeffe forward for backup with Sicily same DPP for future possible suspensions moves.

      4

        1. I think you should be looking at the uber-elite to finish your team (given you’re so high up you don’t need as many pods to make ground – as everyone will have these players). The players I am thinking of are: Hurley, Grundy, Oliver/Dangerfield/Bontempelli. In the fwd line it is still too difficult to tell, so make that the last line upgrade.

          3

    2. Good morning Father Dougal,
It’s like you have a direct link into my brain as I too am STRONGLY considering McDonald.
However, I am likely to trade Finlayson and leave Naughton on the bench to loop hole where possible (not this week unfortunately).
To make the McDonald trade I need to go early on a downgrade and Phillips being a 20 years old and from StKilda who should be playing kids seem the logical target. Only downside is his bye. Ainsworth seems okay and has a better bye but JS looks a little shakey.
There is always Cumming from GWS who might look a decent downgrade option.
Good luck in our head to heads this round. I fear it we be like a re-match of Richmond & North… North very good but not quite good enough!

      1. Since I have Lachie Murphy as an apparently long term loophole Naughton does not help me there. If you can use him as a loophole, after this week, then that’s grand.

Hoping for useful news on Keefe and Cummings over the week. Would at least mean I’d have to think. Pretty sure I would not be spudding up by bringing in Phillips…..

I expect our matches to be very competitive!

        0
        1. Be prepared for a Freeman return potentially this week. Would Take Cumming over Phillips any day, as GWS don’t really have any returning defenders, only mids (also looks like Phil Davis will be out this week). And with Stkilda’s poor form there will be frequent team turnover

          1

    3. in a very similar boat FD. Am gonna mull it over until Friday. Do like T McDonald though and his DPP is priceless.

    4. Currently leaning towards one of the GWS defenders and Webster. Alex, you are right that I should be very careful bringing in anyone I don’t think will be top X from here on in, and if I can bring in one of those GWS defenders without too much fear for their jobs, then can get a guy I think could be top 6 – limited by no R12 bye players and no injuries!

      1. looks like Lids is going to miss two more at the least. Gonna hold him this week as my back-line is a priority, but if they’re still saying two weeks next week (more than likely!), then I’m gonna can him.

  34. Like others billings is killing me bur what are the options now? Hes so low in price I cant even upgrade him to a premo fwd and the two fwd rookies on bubble (keeffe and scheer) dont seem that appealling. What about going a week late on ronke?

      1. Interesting. Looking forward to your article.
I guess it also comes down to trades left. Prior to this week I have 21 trades left, not sure if its worth using min 2 trades to turn billings into another prem fwd or if i should be upgrading my rookies first.
At least Im batting pretty deep in forward line, billings is my f5

  35. Naughton to Keeffe (or Cumming) is a lock this week.
Then I start to have a few dilemmas as to what is best to do – trade Armitage (simply not working and don’t ask why I started with him), or Christensen (not scoring at the rate I hoped for pre season). My issue then becomes who to trade in for them, as I can get any position in via DPP, but with Armitage am limited to 495k and with Christensen 538k.

I was thinking Mundy who will score consistently (I know he has one more price drop this week), but outside of Mundy, I’m struggling to come up with a viable option.

  36. I don’t know if this is a good idea but I don’t have a playing R3 and my R2 is Nank. Very happy with him but I’m concerned about the “resting tiger” rumours. I don’t want any ruck donuts.
I don’t have pressing trade needs this week, should I bring in Crossley who also gives me hopefully 2 rucks through all the byes (Gawn is R1)

  37. Going out on a limb here, but what about Shaun Mckernan? Played well in his first game, no Daniher means Forward time as well as Rucking, and DPP Ruck coverage during byes. -4 BE so will make cash and then move him on after byes. What is everyone’s thoughts?

  38. I noticed someone said they would have Cumming over Phillips any day of the week. I disagree strongly. Even after just one game the saints are now obliged to play Phillips for as long as his body lets him. He was very good and looks like he will score btw 50-80 most weeks. Cumming didn’t look that flash and could be out of the team at the drop of a hat.

  39. Anyone else not that happy with Gray kicking a bag? Might have just stamped his papers ‘never to play midfield’ for the rest of the season.

  40. Undecided as im not sure how much midfield time Gray is going to get now that Rockliff is back in the side and kicking 6 on sat.

    1. Surely hold off getting in a Port player for a couple of weeks with their bye coming up?
Thatd give you this weekend to have another look at these two.

            1. Maybe focus on other areas? Fwds are still in flux a bit, tough to call who will be top 8. Do you have Sicily in Def?

              1. Yeah already have Sicily, Shaw’s my d5 at the minute so Forwards is my only real area of concern as I got yolmen and kelly at m7 and 8

  41. Will be moving on Doedee and Naughton this week for Simpson/Webster and Keeffe.

Holding onto Bonner and Holman before they get shipped off next week unless either of them decides that China is a good place to pump out a big score!

T/U: Bring in old man Simpson
T/D: Jimmy Webster is the real deal now that there is no Roberton

  42. Reevaluated trades thoughts please;

Doedee – Yeo (Naughton D6, Coffield D7) TU

Naughton – Webster (Dodee D6, Coffield D7) TD

Naughton may miss a few weeks so means i have to rely on Coffield at d6 plan is if i do TU i’d go Naughton to Hurley as soon as i can and backline will be complete.

        1. Is Naughton a confirmed out for this week? If he is then great cause he wont drop in value but his BE is 100 so if he plays he’s going to take a dive in value

          1. 2-3 weeks injury, plans have changed with Hurley out. I’m now going Naughton to Cumming, the first option is the same.

  45. Having scraped through with Naughton on field, I’m not going to trade him as I have other needs and his price aint gonna fall…got cover.

Danger coming in. So for other trade..

    T/U Holman to Bont
T/D Any of Murphy, Doedee, Fritsch, Gowers Henry to Sicily ?

  46. Planning on trading in Phillips and Yeo this week.

Definitely trading out Holeman for Phillips but undecided on trading Doedee or Finlayson for Yeo. I have Coffield sitting on the midfield bench and loathe to break the DPP advantage of Finlayson/Coffield especially coming into byes and overall sub latitude.

    Thumbs and comments appreciated.

    TU: Doedee
    TD: Finlayson

    1. Tough one. I’d consider:
Whoever suits your bye better, and
How many more MID premo spots do you have left?! If two or more revert to previous question, if only one then you need to consider your bye structure and make sure you are comfortable you can ‘manage’ your preferred option.

      1. Got two prem mid spots left (O’Meara and Holman) I can do both trades over the next two weeks and complete my midfield or I get yeo and one of my prem mids.

        1. sounds like a plan. get ’em both. go Oliver first tho’ as it’ll cost you less that way round. Oliver proj’d to go up $40k more than Danger over the next couple of weeks. Of course if Paddy starts to smash it, all useless projections are off!!
Good luck. I’ll leave that one with you!!

  50. Buddy & Naughton have to go

    Naughton > Yeo

    Buddy> Menegola

Comment will Menegola be a top 6 forward? Are there better options?

  51. T/U: Go early on Phillips
    T/D: Bring in Keeffe

    * will be doing 1 trade only to free up cash for Danger next week.

  52. Who to trade out first?

    T/U – Doedee
    T/D – Murray

Leaning more towards keeping Doedee as he seems to have a higher ceiling and more worried about points than minor cash loss at the moment

    Thanks
