  1. Still have Ryan, Ridley and Whitfield. Completely bamboozled with what to do with each of them. I feel they are just holds and are luxury trades later but getting frustrating as they’re the ones holding my scores back.

  2. Not yet GD
average score before this round for Grundy of 110 and pies played Cameron , Cox , Krueger this round..
Even clary had a down week last week .
Will probably still bring in Preus as Ruck 2 and move English to forward if named though although Rosas is tempting as well

  3. Posted this in another thread an hour ago, but this is probably where it should live. Just want to get some opinions on how I’m going considering my trading position since it’s my second time playing:

So round 5 seems to be a bit of an assessment threshold for me. I had some real problems early on, it’s only my second time playing supercoach, I was really bad the first time and started the first two weeks barely in the top 50%. Made some aggressive corrections so round 3 I placed top 9%, really bad on field choices and injuries cost me like 300-400 points combined and I fell right back down again in round 4 but going to score 2350 this week. I’ve had to use 9 trades with my early problems and injury to dusty and wines, and just not trusting Whitfield’s running. Going forward now I think I can lean up on trades till the bye, but worried how much I’ve traded up to now.

    My team is:

Def: crisp, Sicily, Sinclair, Hewett, McCartinn, NOD (hinge, Gibcus)

Mid: McRae, Steele, Neale, Cripps, Rowell, cogs, Caldwell, Daicos (jhf, ward, Nasiah)

    Ruc: Gawn, Preuss (Dixon)

Fwd: dunkley, Heeney, butters, Brodie, Xerri, Martin (Hayes, SDK)

    250k cash in the bank

So just wondering if my early trading has screwed me based on the more experienced heads here and if my round 5 score is a fluke. Also, if I can afford to use another trade this week to straight upgrade Rowell to Brayshaw, to shore up my round 12 buy and get some serious points. I know I can’t do that well I think in overall rankings but I’ve been lucky enough to go 3-0 in both my leagues because I peaked at the right time and when I dropped in round 4 I had weaker opponents.

    1. Nice looking team. The 250k sitting in the bank is not earning you any points. Rowell seems to have stalled as far as cash generation and points are concerned you should use the money in the bank to upgrade him to a premium such as Oliver

  4. Out – Hall, Rowell & Grundy
In – Sinclair and 2 of Brayshaw, Walsh and Keays.

I know I will get some thumbs down but I have 6 ruckman in my team.
    Other than Grundy they are:
Hayes – money to make, DPP
Dixon – money to make, DPP,
Xerri – solid #1 ruck, money to make, DPP
Preuss – money to make (when he gets on the park). Usually a good scorer.
English- scoring well, DPP, solid #1 ruck

    1. Hey Shaggi
Bold move to shift Grundy but understand reasons .
Personally lm trying to keep Grundy and add Preus as have all other Ruck options as well but utilise some forward Mid options in mid but who knows . l might end up following your option too .
Sam Hayes is another option as well in 2 weeks

      1. I already have Rachelle, Coniglio and now Martin in the mids.
However, I have no defensive cover so if someone like Stewart doesn’t play then I would have to trade or hope Hinge or Gibcus play.

    2. Play it. Grundy looks way out of sorts. Against the lions he was woeful….trying to find his feet. More points to be had with other lines, more money to be made with junior rucks.

  5. Out: Grundy, Rowell & Gibcus

In: English (Preuss r2, swing English forward), Sicily & Rosas.

Allows me to grab Sam Hayes next week for Rachelle and upgrade JHF to Clarry.

Half contemplating De Goey and hoping for an English down-game. But been thoroughly impressed with English thus far.

    1. Preuss and Hayes make things very interesting- traditional thoughts would be to hold Grundy but i’m leaning towards making the cash from the other two- Grundy hasn’t looked amazing enough to be better than them….I think the other 2 both have 200k in them….

      1. Exact reasoning myself. Also helps rd-structure my team which I definitely need.

Usually would hold firm, however been 21k OR calls for a drastic change.

  8. I am stuck with what to do. Want to hold all of Ridley, Grundy, Short, JHF and Rachele, but not sure. I feel like the first three are all luxury trades while the rookies still have good cash gen left in them. One player I know is going is Rowell.

    Please help with trade suggestions

    Team is as follows

Crisp, Short, Hewett, Sicily, Ridley, O Driscoll ( McCartin and Dean)

Macrae, Steele, Neale, Cripps, Rowell, Daicos, JHF, Rachele ( McDonald , soligo, uwland)

    English Grundy ( Hayes )

Butters Heeney, Dunkley, Xerri, Martin, cogs ( de koning and long)

Rowell will go because he seems to be playing a more defensive role atm, not sure where to from there though

Any thoughts on trades to make please let me know. Might end up only using the one on Rowell

      1. It’s a great shout. I did look at this, but Bowey’s points on field more valuable than most rookies. As a general rule I try to turn my mid pricers into premos.

I’m also running 3 def premos, so this gets me to 4

Bowey would probably become a premo mid next week – looking at Clarry

    1. I want to say Preuss, but I’m not sure what I’ll do if he and Flynn are named. As Flynn played very well.

I’ve never seen Rosas play but scoring profile seems good, varies across both games and not completely reliant on goals

Sinclair going okay so I have him coming in this week.

  17. Any Pies fans with thoughts on Lipinski’s roll?

$437k is cheap for a top 6 forward but no CBAs this week. Worried his roll has changed and his average is bumped up by a couple of early tons playing through the middle.

    $18.k/31 trades remaining

I have the dilemma as well with Rowell. Wanting to trade him off but not knowing who else would be the best to trade out as well to trade in someone good for Rowell.

I know I posted the JHF thing earlier, and I do think I should hold off trading him for a week. BUT, I feel trading him out may be one of the only options to get someone safe in for Rowell.

    Two ideas I had were

    1. JHF > Hobbs/McInnes
    Rowell > Green/Bailey Smith

    2. JHF > Hobbs/McInnes
    Stephens > Rosas
    Rowell > Brayshaw

And the only one I could think of doing without getting rid of JHF

    Stephens > Rosas
    Ward > Windhager
    Rowell > Keays

I tried figuring out ways to bring in Cripps without outing JHF, but I kept falling just short.

    0

    0
    1. I’d be real wary with Windhager. Unsure of his job security with Billings, Hunter Clark and Jimmy Webster all due back imminently

      4

      0
    2. Cripps has a breakeven of 158, so he should drop in price next week (assuming he plays). If he is your target I’d wait a week and allow your rookies to appreciate in price. As Rowell is likely to depreciate in value based on current form you could do a Rowell to Rosas/Preuss trade now via dpp and pick up Cripps later when he bottoms out.

      6

      0
      1. Preferably want to upgrade Rowell, not downgrade him. I’d be losing more points that way. So I’d have to make two trades at least

        0

        1
          1. Well no, because he’s averaging 92 (77 in the last 3 weeks). So I think 60 is a little bit of an over-exaggeration on his lack of form.
Rosas is averaging 75 after two games, not sure if that’s he’ll keep that up or not being a rookie. But even so, that is a drop in point. I rather get a premo for Rowell.

With Preuss btw (in reply to Mersey), the only way I’d take him in is if I traded out Grundy for him. Not risking moving Hayes out of R3, considering he’ll be probably out again when Ryder comes back from suspension, because coaches are a**holes like that. Already got Parker as my loophole player, don’t want him and Hayes both doing nothing on my forward bench.
Plus I have Xerri still in, so it would be ideal to keep that DPP switch between them while they’re both still generating cash.

I appreciate the advice btw, I know you’re trying to help XP I think something about downgrading Rowell instead of upgrading just urks me the wrong way and it’s something I don’t want to risk screwing up on.

    1. This is the million dollar question this week – as trading out Grundy can help a lot of teams significantly strengthen their other lines.

And a lot of teams will have R2 cover for Preuss (if it all goes pear shaped) in the form of J Hayes (for at least the next week :)) or via Tristan Xerri (now that he is FWD / RUCK).

As a Grundy holder, the question that I am trying to answer is will Preuss still score 80 if GWS decide to play both him and Flynn?

As trading Grundy gets me Preuss Touk Tom Stewart (for Grundy & Rowell & Gibcus & some cash I have), but I don’t want Preuss to be throwing up 60 point weeks at R2 if he is working in tandem with Flynn!!

We know that Preuss will score around 80 – 105 points as the sole GWS ruck, but what does everyone think Preuss can score if Flynn also plays?

That’s the big question for me – if I decide to offload Grundy (who has scored pretty well until the weekend just gone).

    1. Caldwell has been super consistent, and IMO he has not been given much love by CD the last few weeks.

Really liked his game on the weekend, and reckon he can score 90 – 100 against the Pies this week.

With a BE of just 46 (Boweys BE is 83), I would be holding Caldwell out of those two you have listed.

The following would take me to 27 trades but bye rounds are covered to minimum requirements…

Rowell to Preuss via DPP (N Martin to MID, J Williams – ruck loop I haven’t bloody used once – FWD bench).
Chapman to Touk via DPP (Daicos back).

      1. I agree!!

Why has Touk not laid a single tackle in the past 2 weeks – when he is such a tackling machine?

Does anyone know if he has a shoulder or upper body issue?

For anyone who has seen the GC games, has any upper body issue been evident in his past two games?

If he gets back to tackling, then he is amazing value at $593K.

        1. I went to the game on the weekend. He looked physically fine, but seemed to get more outside play as opposed to the bottom of a pack.
He really looked good live, great leg speed – just think his job description may have altered slightly, but I’m sure he will still be a premo scorer this year!

    1. Probably not as a MID, nah.

Great player but Bont and Libba eventually come back on ball.

If he’d gotten FWD status, I’d jump on.

Suppose it isn’t the worst move at M8 but think you’re better off gunning for who you think will be the Top 8 MIDs that you can safely C.

      7

      2
      1. think your right.
It’s hard not to jump on, ultimately I need to build for finals and not for purple patches.
How about Parker GD? with fwd status is he worth the punt?

        1

        4
        1. Yeah, Parker interesting.

High ceiling given stoppage bursts and how strong the Swans are, but prone to a few low floor ones.

          Papely back should help.

Could be a smoky for Top 6-ish from here.

  35. It’s a little funny how SC wanted to make playing easier for the masses but my one potential trade of Rowell to Rosas involves trading Rowell, Moving Long Mid, Skinner Forward, Daicos Defence, Brodie Mid then Rosas Forward. But as a lover of SC it’s a really enjoyable process.

  36. This week is going to be painful. Initial thought was culling Grundy straight away but starting to reconsider and may just miss Preuss entirely to avoid the GWS ruck merry go round and not have to worry about him getting injured again. Also was considering a Ridley rage trade but might hold and hope he comes good too but that might be dumb. Currently just done Rowell to Rosas which leaves me with $360k to go:

    TU: JHF to any Midfielder
    TD: Gibcus to any defender

  37. What are out thoughts on Steven May? Avg 108, Melb defence on fire and a POD in only 2% of teams.

    TU-Ridley to May
    TD-Better options

    9

    16
    1. Thing I’d worry about with May is that Melbourne haven’t come up against a key forward that he just has to stick with the whole time and when that happens he might not score great

    2
  39. Firstly, I have ROB at R2 currently, so I don’t think trading Grundy will hurt me too much and ROB is currently performing slightly better than him.

    Two options

TU: Grundy and C.Mac out for English (fwd) & Preuss, 5k in bank.
TD: Grundy and C.Mac out for Preuss & Rosas, 447k in the bank – use that to get Oliver/Petracca & another premo next week.

    5

    3
  40. Surprised at the lack of interest in Zorko. He’s a proven top level scorer, now in a role that will hopefully raise his floor. The 29 against Port was injury-effected and he’s been pretty solid otherwise, and is likely as cheap as he’ll ever be. In 0.2% of teams too.

    4

    2
    1. From the game that I watched, he still looks sore in his Achilles (he “hobbles” around a lot).

And he has been “managed” during games twice already from memory.

He may end up being a sensational pick (as he is a great player in that role), but you will have your “heart in your mouth” for the next month or so I reckon!!

      5

      0
      1. Also food for thought is that Keidean Coleman is due back soon, this could push Zorko back into the mids and effect the scoring that the HB role has allowed him so far this season.

        Cheers,
        Wayne

    2. Based.

Zorko has been battling injury all year after missing most of the preseason.

2 weeks ago he scored 52 ! I’m not sure that qualifies as “pretty solid ”

He is a huge injury risk and after what just happened with Hall. Are you sure you want to risk it ? His BE is 116 so you could wait a week and see what sort of shape he’s in.

  41. It’s too hard deciding on who to cull.
Want to get rid of Grundy, Rowell, Bowey, Ridley
Want to get in English, Preuss, Rosas, Sinclair/Sicily, Brayshaw (Freo) and others……

    Ridley>Bailey smith
    Rowell>Pruess
    Baldwin>Rosas

Negative-After these trades I will have 410k in the bank for this round

  44. Am looking to trade out Ridley this week or next week

Should I trade him this week for someone like Houston or Hall this week,
    OR
Should I trade him next week alongside one of my rookies to bring in someone like Docherty or Sinclair, or any premium midfielder or forward via Daicos and De Koning DPP.

I am currently leaning towards trading him next week so I can get a keeper out of him

T/U – Trade him this week

    1. Trade Ward out, move Brodie to Mids. Bring in Rosas.
Trade out JHF, move Rachele to Mids, Hayes to forwards. Trade in S Hayes.
Trade McCartin for Steward. Strengthens your backs and new rookies to moo.

  46. Ridley is really starting to leak pts and cash. I started with him and his role has not changed at all during the season. Looks disinterested and they don’t look to get the ball in his hands!

T/D – keep the faith, you know what he’s capable of.

    1. GRUNDY…
Gees, he’s looking pretty ordinary though, is in a hole atm. Out of form, not getting marks and looking battered.
As a Cats man I watched him play against Stanley and was pleased that Stanley actually beat/even with him. Then watched Neeves- a rookie- monster Stanley in the first quarter Saturday.
I’ve cashed Grundy in- as there are just soo many cash generating rucks atm.

Consider- we all thought the hard nut Ward would gain us cash- but looks like maxing out at $40-50K cash, whereas a Xerri looks like picking up $200K.

ITS THE YEAR OF THE ROOKIE RUCK CASH GRAB!

  50. TU: Grundy, Whitfield, M.Cox (Bris) to Sinclair, Preuss, Rosas
TD: You are bloody mad burning 3 trades, Grundy and Whitfield will come good and more than make up for the points they are losing now.

After this I will have $315K cash and my rucks will be
    R1 English
    R2 Preuss
    R3 H.Dixon
And Xerri and J.Hayes on field in the forward line.

  52. First booster being used, 33 trades left so I’m fixing some problems in the team. Problem is I’m a bit torn on who to bring in for my premo.

Trades that are definitely happening unless teams change this is:
    Rowell > Gresham
    Stephens > Rosas

3rd trade is Ridley to either ($620k to play with)

    TU: Touk
    TD: Tom Greene

(Mid premos: Macrae, Steele, Neale, Brayshaw)

Comment: either chucking in a forward or defender as DPP allows it, or any other mid

    1. Hi Iso Moe,

Gresham is great value and scoring well atm. I’d be considering whether he’s a keeper or not though, as the Saints are still missing some key mids (Jones, Billings, Clark & Hannebery (if he ever gets on the park)), all of which could impact Gresham’s role/scoring.

You’re in a good spot with trades left though so could be a sage move in the meantime.

      Good luck whatever you decide,

      Wayne

  53. Using first boost
    TU
    Hall > Sinclair

    Rachele > Preuss (R3)

    TD
Hall > Brodie (via Daicos DPP)
    Rowell > Brayshaw/Walsh

  55. Just don’t know what to do with Ridley. Is he top 8 anymore?
Thinking of doing Rowell + Bowey to Pruess (if named) + Stewart then using the boost and going Ridley to basically anyone. Can swing Daicos down back who will sit at D4 and get a premium midfielder with Berry sitting at M8 or get any defender.

  57. Is it worth doing strnadica > Preuss and having Preuss at R3?

Have Grundy and Witts as my other rucks. Only other players I would consider trading out are Rowell, Gibcus and Hough.

    5

    3
      1. GD even if Flynn is named as well ?

I’m not sure he will continue to score as well if he has to share. I know he has a very low BE but with S Mayes coming along I’m not sure he’s a ” must have.”

He has been fit since R1 and only managed 2 games. for me..only if he’s named solo ruck I think he’s worth it

        7

        0
        1. Yeah, FT, completely agree with you. I think S Hayes is a must have and the only way for me to fit Preuss in is to have him at R2 so trade out one of Grundy or Witts and I’m hoping that I can just finish with them for the year and would like to use the trades for other things.

          2

          0
          1. Yep Johnno

Its team dependant. I have Gawn and Grundy atm. with either Dixon or Hayes at R3.

If Preuss is named the only Ruck I may trade out Grundy for him.

If Pruess looks to share with Flynn, I will pass on Pruess and get S Mayes @R3 on the Bubble next week.

  58. Have Will Kelly (big first round mistake) and Brady Hough both sitting on the bench collecting dust. Hough still has some money to make, while I feel like MacDonald is not far off his peak. Not sure whether to enjoy a little more cash for trades or to get rid of cold bodies.

TU: Kelly + Hough -> Preuss + Rosas
TD: Kelly + Macdonald -> Preuss + Rosas

    1. Hi ForBuckSake,

Granted he looked thoroughly disinterested vs the Lions; however here is some perspective on Grundy which may influence any trading decisions.

Prior to his 53 on Thursday night, Grundy’s average was 109.75. Only Gawn (avg 117.4) & English (avg 121.6) have higher averages than that currently. English’s average after 4 games was 117.5, Gawn’s was 114.25. So a bad performance yes, but he was up there with the top rucks.

I agree he needs to show a bit more vs Essendon and hopefully the coach and the occasion can be the catalyst for all us Grundy owners with an itchy trade finger.

      Cheers,
      Wayne

  63. My trades for this week;

    Out: Rowell, JHF & Hinge
    In: Rosas, Preuss, Steele

Leaves 230K in the bank to go to trade Berry into Oliver/Miller next week. S. Hayes for Durdin will be my other trade.

  64. For anyone considering trading out Grundy after one bad score… after Rd4 he was averaging 110 and was third highest ranked Ruck. If you trade him out now then you bank a 73k loss.

    So…

    TU Really?
    TD Really!

    4

    3
    1. If you can bring in a guy that is averaging the same and pocket $350k while doing so with some great bench options at the moment as well I’d do that every time!

      2

      0
      1. On Grundy. It’s Horses for courses guys.

For me , I have Gawn at R1 , Grundy at R2 and all of Xerri , Dixon and J. Hayes that can cover that R2 position.

        So my plan is…

Grundy is going to bleed $50K or more in the next 2 weeks Pruess ( as solo ruck is likely to score close to Grundy) and Pruess will make $150K in 2 weeks.
Add to this the fact that selling Grundy gets Ward off field for a Mid Premo potentially netting me 60 more points a week for 2 weeks.

That means in two short weeks.. I’m likely $200K and 1oo or more points up, on if I had not made the trade.

Due to the Pies new game style Grundy has lost his high ceiling this year with only 1 score over 120 ( 124 R1 ) This means he’s very unlikely to have a spike game to get his price back over $550K any time soon. So then the plan is to potentially grab Grundy post Byes for the same or cheaper than I sold him with the added bonus of having a playing ruck in R14.

I am usually all about holding Premo’s but with so may money making R2 – 3 options and Grundy with a 52 in his price cycle its time to go Brodie !

        4

        1
  65. I’ve realized I’ll have to get rid of either Grundy or JHF to get a good upgrade for Rowell.

TU: JHF > Rosas (through Martin DPP)
    Rowell > Green

    TD: Grundy > Preuss
    Rowell > Brayshaw

If thumbs down get the bigger vote, I’d even consider pulling out a trade boost for Ward/Stephens > Rosas. That way I’d have about $260k free, which should allow me to only make the one trade next week to upgrade JHF to a premo

    10

    1
  66. TU: Hinge & Owens to Xerri & Rosas (via NOD to defence, Rachele & Martin to mid)
TD: Hold Hinge, and just move Owens into Rosas (via Martin or Rachele to mid)

    0

    12
  67. Want to get Preuss this week but not sure of which move to make. All involve some DPP rejigging

TU: Rowell to Preuss to free up cash
TD: D. Stephens to Preuss, hold Rowell

For reference, have 28 trades left after I switch Hall for Brayshaw

    5

    6
    1. And also…is there a better Hall option than Brayshaw via DPP? Tom Green and save the 60k is the only other one I can see

      3

      0
  68. As someone without Hewett, if I was looking to trade in a premium defender this week, should I :

TU – trade in Hewett (R12 bye not ideal, but not having him when most do and he’s averaging 118 , is costing me.
TD – forget Hewett, not worth paying the extra $117k that he has increased in value, and trade in someone like Stewart / Lloyd

    3

    8
  69. Okay, thinking this for my final trades

JHF > Rosas (through Nic Martin DPP)
Stephens/Ward (if Stephens get called back in) > Hobbs
Rowell > Laird (only owned by 0.6%, could be a massive POD pick)

As mentioned before on previous comments, didn’t want to take JHF out a week early, but it was either that or trade out Grundy for Preuss. And I didn’t like the risk in that all.

    8

  70. T/U
    Out Grundy,Rowell,JHF
    In Green, Hewitt,Pruess
    T/D
    Out Ridley, Rowell,JHF
    In Green, Hewitt, Rosas

Grundy’s had one shocker (in probably 5 years!) and feel a little dirty trading him out, Rosas hopefully will make as much cash as Pruess, particularly if Flynn is also in, getting Green and Hewitt was my main target, which has been achieved.

    4

  71. In my midfield I already have:

Macrrae, Steele, Neale, Oliver & Touk

    Should I trade:

    Ridley,Rowell, Xerri
    to
    Petracca, Mitchell, Preuss

    7 Premo midfield already!

    T/U: Hell Yeah!
    T/D: Hold

    3

    3
    1. Nah. I wouldn’t, Dan. Not both of Petracca and Mitchell, maybe one.

Petracca and Titch appealing given a couple of their scores, the fact they’re currently cheaper than other MIDs and how sexy a 7x premo midfield would be, but I’d have a few ahead of them for Top 8.

Macrae, Steele, Neale, Satan and Miller. You’ve got them. Tick. All Top 8.

For the remaining 3 spots, there’s Brayshaw who’s defintely there then Bont, Mills, Green, Parish and Keays who can all compete for Top 8.

Very possible that Racca’s DE and Titch’s role could see them miss. Annoying floors as well, match ups more important for them than others and dicey to straight C. Could both end up Top 8, but would aim for Brayshaw, Bont and Parish ahead of them.

I’m having a similar dilemma. Plan was Brayshaw and Satan and was in love with the idea of a near completed midfield but can’t quite afford Satan. Could still do Brayshaw and Keays, but going to grab English instead – who’s looking like F1. Play is to go for Top 6/8 locks, with maybe a cruiser at M8/F6/etc.

…watch them both go 140 this week now that I’ve said that lol.

      2

      0
      1. Getting the perfect top 8 mids is an interesting challenge. It’s possible, but it takes you all season to get there simply because the top 8 each season don’t typically drop below 580-590k.

Is having say, Walsh or Bont averaging 120 for the last five rounds, and paying $600k for them, better than grabbing Titch or Green or Jelly now for $540k and having them go 110 for 15 rounds?

        4

        0
      2. Thanks very much for your analysis!

        My original plan was:

Rowell & JHF to Walsh and Preuss

I think if I go with that it leaves room to work on other areas, thus ensuring 2 spots left in the midfield to ponder over longer.

I could afford Brayshaw but am hesitant with the fact he’s from WA and could be culled at any minute.

        Thanks again GD!

  72. Have re-thought my options for this week and they are:

    T/U
    Grundy > Preuss
    Gibcus > Sinclair
    Rowell > Brayshaw
    14K ITB

    T/D
    JHF > Rosas/Preuss
    Rowell > Sinclair
    140/230K ITB

Option 2 will save me a trade this week ready for 1 down 1 up next week – most likely targeting S Hayes and Brayshaw.

    1. Slatts

English is lock for top 6 forward and a huge chance to finish in the top few Rucks for the year as well.

Leon Cameron can do very strange things playing people out of position. Green is still in breakout territory and with Toby Greene back this week may lose some mid time to Taranto.

I would go English for sure !

TD: No, Save cash and boost

  78. Trades 33, 22k ITB
DEF: Crisp, Short, Hewett, Sicily, Chapman, NOD, (Hinge, Gibcus)
MID: Macrae, Steele, Neale, Cripps, Rowell, Daicos, JHF, Rachele (Ward, Stephens, Uwland)
    RUC: Gawn, Grundy, (Dixon)
FWD: Dunkley, Butters, Coniglio, Brodie, Xerri, Martin, (McCartin, SDK)
    Analysis from a dumby:
My backline is doing alright at the moment, with my big four cruising along excluding some bumpy games. Got NOD in last week and he will be staying for a while. Chapman has a BE of 56 which he should surpass even by his inconsistent standards. He is on the trade radar, though not many people on this site seem to be trading him out this week, and I usually just copy what everyone else on this site is doing, so I will most likely leave him be for now. I am not sure about the current situation with Hinge or Gibcus, but I believe Hinge will be back soon. Both of these two have very low BEs but they are definitely tradeable with all the other rookie options at the moment.
My midfield is doing fine, with the four premiums all doing quite well. But then, of course, Rowell. Not sure what I’ll do with him at this point in time, but it will probably be what everyone else does. Daicos is going well, and if he keeps at his average he will still have two or three more weeks in him. JHF, however, should peak very soon and he is a rookie I will be downgrading this week or next week with all the rookie options. Rachele is doing a very good job at annoying me, he seems to be on my bench on the weeks of a good score, and on the field when he gets 30. Him and Ward, who is also getting on my nerves, are two that I will definitely consider trading in the next two weeks, though I won’t trade Ward this week, not until he has fattened up. I’m not sure what the situation with Dylan Stephens is, but it seemed he didn’t do too well in his VFL match, and Josh Kennedy will come back into the midfield/half back line, so I don’t like his chances. But he still hasn’t gone up in cash yet, so he will have to stay put for a while.
Gawn will stay in my side for now, as will Grundy, unless the poll on him later this week suggests otherwise, but I’d definitely prefer to not trade him because of one bad score. Dixon will continue to sit there and make cash, and he might be a DPP swing for Preuss.
Dunkley, Butters, and Cogs are all doing alright, and I’ll leave Brodie, Xerri, and Martin to soak up some more money. SDK and McCartin will probably be left for a while as well.
The targets for this week are Erasmus, Preuss, Rosas, maybe Kreuger. As I can’t get all of them in, I will probably prioritise in the following order: Preuss, Rosas, Erasmus, and Kreuger.
Questions I have for anyone that has an answer are
Will Hewett and Sicily become top 6 mids this year?
    Will Hinge play this week?
What is the situation with Gibcus?
    Is Cripps a keeper?
To trade Rowell or not to trade him…
In what order should I trade these players out: JHF, Rachele, Ward?
    Grundy?
Will Cogs and Butters be keepers?
How long will Brodie fatten up for?
Will Stephens come back into the side?
Which Midfielders should I prioritise getting in, and which should I wait on? Am thinking about Boak, Brayshaw, Green, Miller eg.
Are Sinclair, Heeney, Docherty, English going to be worth it or not?
An option I was messing around with for trades this week was
JHF, Rachele, Rowell > Preuss, Rosas, Brayshaw
Anyway, thanks so much for bothering to read this, and please, if you have time, suggest a trade, answer a question, or tell me that my team is terrible.
    Thanks, Anonymous.

    1. Hey, Jude.

Think you’re worrying way too much lol. That’s an EXCELLENT team with only 3 trades used. Superb.

Think Rowell has to go and Preuss and Rosas must haves for cash gen. So you could go:

      Rowell -> Rosas (via DPP)
Xerri -> Preuss (via Dixon DPP)

That gives you 435k ITB, if you want to hold on to Xerri you could sack McCartin or SDK. Their BEs are lower but Xerri much better on field. Up to you.

You could then just go Stephens -> any MID premo. Could also prepare bank for another upgrade next week and instead go:

Chapman -> any MID premo (via Daicos DPP)

That leaves you with 200k for next week.

Think something along those lines would be sweet and strengthen an already rock solid side.

      Best of luck.

      1. Thanks as always GD.
Just curious to know about your thoughts on Xerri. I can trade JHF or Rachele out and still get Preuss in and a good quality mid, but do you think he will peak soon, or Horne-Francis will fatten more?
        Thanks

        1

        1
        1. Yeah, both of JHF (BE 51) and Xerri (BE 46) can still make coin but if trading them finances a big premo upgrade then it’s fine to sack them.

On their performances last week, Xerri was back to a better ruck split with Goldy and was always going to go okay v an undersized Dogs side and JHF just had a dog of a day but still a good CP ratio and team high CBA load – can easily bounce back.

    1. Not sure you’ve missed the boat on English given he’s looking like a season keeper, but he’s BE is 97 and he’s already dropped a 96 and 99 this year, so every chance he hovers around his current price. Even with a 120 he’s only going up 6k this week, so you could wait.

      0

      0
      1. Yep. Well said, CA.

Can only “miss the boat” on rookies and mid-pricers whose substantive cash gen has happened.

If you rate English, grab him. Thinking he’s F1 at this stage.

Surely Martin doesn’t hobble his way back in?

  79. Grundy/ Hinge/ Rowell >

    English/ Sicily/ Preuss

Means Dixon and Hayes F6/7 go forward but have English incase either don’t play and send English forward and Preuss to R2.. thoughts

Team with those trades: 28 trades left

Stewart, Crisp, Whitfield, Sicily, O’Driscoll, McCartin( W-Milera-Dekoning)

McCrae, Miller, Steele, Oliver, Brodie, JHF, Daicos, Rachele ( Ward, McDonald, Hough)

    Gawn, English (Preuss)

Dunks, Treloar, Cogs, Xerri, Martin, Hayes(Dixon, Szinner)

    1. Jack, in that side I would have Gawn, Preuss (Dixon) as your ruck line with English at F1 and shift Martin, Xerri or Hayes to F7.

    2. Nice trades Jack, definitely worth considering a swing of English forward and play Preuss at R2 with Dixon at R3. Then loop between Hayes and Martin for F6 using Skinner

  80. Downgrade JHF to Rosas
    Upgrade Rowell to Titchell/Brayshaw/Walsh

Would also love some thoughts on the mid premo option. I like Titchell because i can get him cheap right now, the others have breakevens over 110 whereas his is 67. Will likely do another upgrade to a mid premo and get one of the others next week

    Yes or no?

  81. Is there a better option than Witherden at same price or less?

Love to hear thoughts, seems to have the Aaron Hall role

    1. Hey, backman.

Yeah, I like the look of Witherden – especially as an Eagles man. In a great role and it looks like we’ll be defending heaps this season.

Only issue is he’s got that R13 bye (same as Swans, Dogs and Suns). Also, the WA COVID sitch isn’t ideal.

DEFs are pretty painless rn and the only must have is Hewett, so if Witherden is okay for your bye structure then go for it. Great ceiling, solid role.

      4

      1. Thanks Gunboat,
Yeah good points. Would be a Ridley to Witherden trade, which after the weekend could be unattainable with a projected $50k swing.
Looks like none of the other premo defenders will be around that price for a while (besides Short who I already have).

      1. Pruess would be the replacement for Chapman via DPP

Using some DPP magic def would be Crisp Dawson, short, Ridley, Daicos, O’driscoll McCartin, SDK

Or could swap one of Daicos/Driscoll for Hewett who’s on mid line right now

  94. Hey guys need some help here started off good the first couple rds last couple not so good, mostly my “better” players letting me down ie Ridley, Zeibell etc
DEF: Short, Sicily, Ridley, Zeibell, McCartin, DeKoning. Bench: Gibcus, Hinge
MIDS: Mcrae, Neale, Parish, Cripps, Coniglio, Rowell, Daicos, O’driscoll BENCH Horne-Francis, Ward, Erasmus
    RUCKS: Gawn, Grundy bench: Hayes
FWDS: Dunkley, Butters, Brodie, Rachele, Martin, Dixon BENCH: Xerri & McEntee.
Any advice on where to move forward from here would be great been tossing up about Ridley and Zeibell for a couple weeks but hate trading “guns”so at loss, cheers legends

    1. Hi Ant: the core of your team looks solid, what you need to do is to keep an eye on your cash generation. You can pimp it up by trading in Preuss and Rosas this round. Who goes out depends on who you think has maxxed their earning.
Since you have 170k ITB, I will get rid of two of Mcentee/JHF/Ward.
Ziebell had a role change so make sure it doesnt affect his scoring. But if you are happy with the yoyo from FWDs, hold tight. Otherwise side trade to a gun Def.
Then next is getting the rookies scores off your best 22 by starting your upgrades. Keep on close watch on Premos BEs. The ones with BEs that fall close lower or close to 100 are good value. You must have a target list. Otherwise, you may need to target players like:
      Def: Stewart, Witherden,Hewett, Docherty
      Mid: Steele, Oliver, Petracca, Titch
      FWD: English, Heeney,
Thats just few pointers, others in the community can add to it.
      Hope that helps, good luck

      1. Thanks mate appreciate that, just hate trading guns, but Rudley might have to go and hoping Zeibell comes good with Hall put. Most if those guys are in my radar as well as Sinclair in defence. Only H2H so looking for some more points most of my rookies aren’t far off and those 3 are about to go, trade boost it is this week lol

    1. Dependent on your risk tolerance but I am personally going for Trac. His fixture run until the byes are looking incredibly tasty, and undeniably has the higher ceiling – especially at his current price point, he’ll be harder to get later on.

Being a renowned flat track bully and with the Dees form, the stars are aligning for reach the form he was having in the second half of last year.

      1. Geez flat track bully seems a tad harsh on Trac. He won the Norm Smith – literally the greatest opposing metric in AFL of a flat track bully.

  96. Struggling with conflicting trade ideas.

    Plan 1:
    This week do nothing.

    Next week do Rachele/J Hayes > S.Hayes, & Rowell > Oliver

    Plan 2:
This week do JHF > Rosas, & Rowell > Steele

    Next week do Rachele/J Hayes > S.Hayes.

Plan 1 means I save cash by getting Oliver for sub-600k, and save a trade, however lose out on points from fielding Rowell.

Plan 2 means I basically guarantee a better overall score this week, and getting in an uber premo MID doesn’t rely on the cash from getting S.Hayes. However not the biggest fan of flicking JHF already.

I am super torn and would love some opinions, so:
    TU for Plan 1
    TD for Plan 2.

    Would love any feedback too.

    0

    2
    1. I voted “thumbs down” as your plan 1 revolves around you keeping Rowell for an extra week to get a cheaper Oliver next week – but if Rowell (BE = 103) throws up another score in the 60’s, then he will drop in $ almost as much as Oliver (BE = 174).

Rowell may bounce back versus Brisbane – but in the last couple of weeks he has clearly been ordinary from a SC scoring perspective.

In an ideal world, it would be good if we could keep JHF for another week or two or three, but with that 39 from the weekend running through his 3 week price cycle, and with a current BE of 51, this week might be the week to let him go?

Steele versus Oliver very similar & very durable – so don’t think you can lose either way there.

Rosas is small forward who traditionally score very inconsistently – so who knows there!! But I certainly wouldn’t like to be chasing him on a footy field – as he has some serious wheels & also some awesome evasive movements 🙂 🙂

He certainly also likes to tackle – so that will help his SC scoring.

      Good luck with your decision.

  98. Hi guys, need opinions please!
Have done the following trades this week:

    Horne-Francis > Rosas (via DPP)
    Rowell > Brayshaw
    Baldwin > Preuss (via DPP)

    Leaves me with 30 trades.

T/U – Go for it, good trades!
    T/D – Nope!

    10

    -1
  99. With Chapman out, looks like I will have 3 defenders out, with Hinge & Gibcus. None of the 3 can be moved as none are DPP. One will need to go :

    TU : Hinge
    TD: Gibcus

Before hearing about Chapman, original thought was trading out Whitfield for Stewart. May still do that also, in addition to above, but that would mean missing out on Preuss, as wanting to trade in Rosas. So many decisions. How did we cope before being granted trade boosts?

    1

    8
    1. Hinge is listed as a test for this week but as he was close to playing last week, it is expected that he will play.
Gibcus was managed last week because of his youth. No reason why he would not be recalled this week.

The team lists will help your decision,Lisa.
      Good luck.

      1. Matthew Nicks on Mitch Hinge:

“We know he’s good enough at the level, it depends on the mix that we’re putting in & what the opposition are bringing as well, whether we need tall or small behind the footy or on the wing.”

  101. Penny for your thoughts supercoach experts.

The current team is sitting at 32 trades avail before any moves this round and 25k in the bank. 2 trades have me interested this week but first a look at my team.

    Def: Short,Sicily,Ridley,Ryan,Mccartin,NOD (Gibcus, Uwland)
Mid:Macrae, Steele,Oliver, Neale, Hewett, Daicos, JHF and T Dow (Ward, Mcdonald and Hough)
    Ruck: Gawn,Grundy (Dixon)
Fwd: Dunkley, Butters, Coniglio, Brodie, Martin, Rachele (SDK and Hayes)

Trade 1 looks like the following:
    Out: Dow, JHF
    In: Rosas and Preuss

This would leave me at 30 trades used and 298,400 in the bank and a great opportunity for Touk next week and maybe with another downgrade another premo like Lloyd in for a Paddy Mcartin. A concern for this is another week of rookie scores on the field and would leave me playing rookie roulette at f5 and f6 with Rosas, SDK and Dixon as Rachele and Martin are moved to m7 and m8 to assist with the trades. With no loopholes, this leaves me a little nervous and will not really help my overall scores.

Option 2 looks like the following:
    Out: Grundy, Dow and JHF
    In: Preuss, Rosas and Touk
This in turn would leave me with 29 trades used and 258,900 in the bank.

This makes me nervous but I really like how my team looks with this. I will have Martin and Hayes at f5 and f6 who have both proven reliable as well as upgrading from JHF to Touk. This however comes at the cost of Grundy typically a set and forget which worked well for me last year. On a positive note by getting Preuss at R2 allows me to get both Preuss and then Hayes next week for super cash gen to get up to premos. With the extra 258,900 in the bank for next week I could easily use a trade boost and do 2 upgrades (e.g. Mccartin to Lloyd and Rachele to English with a downgrade as id have 450-500k in the kitty.

Pick 1 seems the safe option but pick 2 seems like a ballsy play that could really pay off. Would love to hear your thoughts on the above or if you have any better suggestions!

Anyone shed any light on his upcoming situation?
What’s likely to happen with him without hall?

    1

    0
    1. TOF

He seems to be MR Fix it at North. With his role changing week to week. This gives me little faith in his scoring consistency. Perez started taking kick ins when Hall went down so I think short term he may get Halls role ( they want him there long term ) Also Hall will be back at some stage so who knows how that will go.

Then there’s uncertainty about how they use Ziebell. Zurhaar could be back this week sending Ziebell back again.

I know he’s cheap with a pretty low BE ( 40 ) I’m just not sure he’s worth the risk at this stage.

      2

        1. No worries

  108. Was settled on going early on Hinge and bringing in Steele, however, Steele’s most likely going to get tagged this week (v GWS). Possibility of bringing him in in a fortnight for cheaper sounds good (same with Oliver). Plus Hinge is almost certain to come back into the team.
Then we have the dilemma of Grundy … oh I hate how this makes the team look.

    T/U Hinge, Rowell > Rosas, Steele(or Oliver)
T/D Grundy, Rowell, JHF > Preuss, Petracca and T.Mitchell.

        F: Martin, Hayes, Gollant, Rosas

Hopefully keep Gusbus, Dris and Hayes as my back up bench and trade the rest.

        1. Wow burning through those boosts SImon.

I’m really unsure why you are using one this week with both Naish and Dixon likely to make a fair bit more cash. Just seems a waste .

I understand one trade to Pruess as he will make a heap of cash.

There’s no hurry to get Mills as his BE is not too low and JHF still has a low enough BE that he doesn’t need trading now.

Unless you are close to the very top in the rankings I wouldn’t be burning through those boosts so quickly. It seems you have very few rookies on field compared to most anyway. Maybe cool your heals and just look at using 2 trades a week for the next few. Its often better to wait and get in the better Premo’s rather than rushing to get in guys that may not be great Premo’s long term just to get rookies off the field.

Best of luck whatever you decide.

          1. Been watching Mills closely. Gets those +6’s and always has the ball in his hands. Swans playing JPK as sub shows Mills and Parker are their best and most trusted mids now. Plus I like them way the Sawnnies play. Kick it to Buddy!!!

Ideally I want Mills, Macca and Neale/Walsh to finish my mids
and Taranto and Degoey to finish off my forwards. Have Dunks in Mids at the moment.

My non premos-ish players are Rioli and Zerri. I class the rest as keepers that I’m happy with, maybe Brodie if he starts to feel the season but hes old enough aye.

My bye structure is pretty solid, 18/19/20 playing in those rounds barring omits.

The extra 5 trades suit my play much better. I think I can win the lot this year, AF, SC, RDT. Well placed in all I think for a tilt. I’m excited. I can’t see my self running out of trades and no need to (hopefully) for any more than 1 more boost.

Wish me luck 🙂 I know it is glory if i win but yeah like every year I finish strong.

            1. So Simon- you see 12 having a bye in first round as optimal.
What’s people’s thoughts with byes… I thought something like 8/10/12 optimal as then in those rounds you can trade big to maximise your side

    1. He’s had hot runs of form before, but never been an elite mid. Most people prefer proven performers over potential breakouts, and that’s fair enough.

But if your ranking isn’t where you’d like it to be, you need to take some risks!

  146. Is it worth going:

Dixon R3 > Preuss and loose ddp with Hayes and Xerri?

Not sure on extent of the injury and Preuss rucking with Flynn or could go Sam Hayes next week if Dixon out again.

    1

    3
    1. Same dilemma that many are facing this week, and think you may have to lose the dpp (if you have say Gawn & Grundy / Witts as your R1 and R2).

As either Preuss or Sam Hayes will generate really good cash.

As I want to bring in Touk (for Rowell) this week, I am going Dixon to Rosas – and then picking up Sam Hayes next week (for say JHF) to be able to get Oliver.

Think Hayes will score really well versus WCE this week.

I don’t generally like bringing in small forwards like Rosas (especially in a not so good team like GC) – but Rosas looks like he has some tricks, and he tackles well.

Don’t like missing Preuss as he should make $150K for owners – but I want to keep Gawn & Grundy, therefore can only go either Preuss or Sam Hayes.

Tough choice as both should make a stack of cash, but really like Hayes’s job security.

Good luck to everyone making the same choice between Preuss and Sam Hayes 🙂 🙂

  147. Hey lads, bit stuck on what to do as English ,dixon and hinge again left out of this weeks teams

Have 250k in the bank but was thinking
    Dixon to preuss
Hinge to a premium defender, have 520k to spend but really stuck on who?

Or I could move Hayes into the ruck instead of getting preuss but feel like he will seriously go up a lot the next few rounds

    Cheers

    0

    0
    1. As per my post a little earlier, maybe consider missing Preuss this week & getting Sam Hayes next week instead?

It is tough to miss someone like Preuss who has such a high negative break even (-93), but he had quite a few injury & suspension issues (and he may have to “ruck share” with Flynn some weeks)?

And not sure who you have in your DEF already, but if you need to move him on, this week you could go Hinge to:

      Hewett
      Sicily
      Houston
      B Dale
      C Daniel

Particularly Hewett and Sicily who appear to be top 8 defenders at this point.

Or you could hold Hinge this week, and then next week go Dixon / someone else to either Sam Hayes or Ben Hobbs.

And then you would have the funds to go Hinge out to say a “super DEF premium” like Tom Stewart, Jake Lloyd or Sam Docherty.

      Good luck with your decision!!

  148. This week I am thinking:
Rowell, Two of Rachele/Xerri/JHF/Chapman > Rosas, Preuss, Brayshaw/Green/Anyone I Want

    Thoughts on the trade?

  149. Thinking now of keeping Rowell. He should genuinely score more than McCartin at D6.

So instead of Rowell, I’ll trade out McCartin with Hinge and JHF for Steele, Preuss and Rosa. Still have 91K for upgrade one upgrade next week if Rowell or Berry stinks up this week.

  150. Should I trade Xerri/Rachele/Chapman/JHF to Preuss?
TU: Yes, jump on the Preuss cow, your current rookie doesn’t have much cash to make
TD: No, you will be better off fattening your rookie then getting Preuss in.

    TU: Rachele
    TD: Xerri
    TU Comment: JHF

    -1
    1. This week, I would only cut Chapman (BE = 56 & not a keeper) or maybe JHF (BE = 51 & not a keeper) out of your list.

Rachele has more money to make, and think Xerri can average 85 and be reasonably consistent – so he might end up being your F6 / F7 (with coverage for your rucks).

  156. Hi all,

Below is my team and my rucks have been decimated by English out and Grundy forgetting how to ruck.

Crisp, Rich, Hall, Ridley, McCartin, O’Driscoll (Gibcus, Uwland)

Macrae, Steele, Neale, Cripps, Berry, Daicos, JHF, Rachele, (Ward, MacDonald, Stephens)

    Grundy, Hayes (English)

Dunkley, Heeney, Butters, Coniglio, Xerri, N. Martin (Dixon, SDK)

10.9k in the bank, 30 trades

Right now I’m considering activating my boost (have four remaining) – and going:

English, Ridley and JHF -> Andy Brayshaw, Jack Sinclair + Malcolm Rosas.
(Play Hayes + Grundy and pray the latter gets a decent score)

    T/U – do it
    T/D – god no don’t

Let me know if there are other options I’m not even considering, as I am very aware I might be missing something obvious.

  164. G’day people, here’s my current set-up. 164k in the kitty and 30 trades left.

DEF- Short, Crisp, Hewitt, Whitfield, Hinge, McCartin.- De koning, Gibcus.
MID- Macrae, Neale, Miller, Parish, Rowell, Daicos, Jhf, Nod.- Rachele, MacDonald, Long.
    RCK- Grundy, Witts.- Dixon.
FWD- Dunkley, Heeney, Butters, Coniglio, Brodie, J Hayes.- Martin, Durdin.

No 1- Whitfield to Stewart. Conserve trades, play it safe.
No 2- Grundy, Rowell, Hinge out.
Preuss, Oliver, Sinclair in. I like this aggressive move, just concerned with using my 2nd boost and trade consumption.
No 3- Jhf, Dixon out. Rosas, Preuss in
Keep powder dry for upgrades next week.

  165. English out has mucked with my trade plans, dodges a bullet though so should be grateful.

Now looking at bringing in Heeney but concerned his scoring isn’t sustainable with his lack of genuine midfield time (looking at CBA’s). Can any Heeney owners give me a bit of an insight as I’m sure you’ve watched him closely!

From what I’ve seen I think he has been lucky to get a few scores he has gotten!

    1. Check out the excellent article on centre bounce attendances from earlier in the week 🙂

From memory, Heeney attended very few CBA’s the last week or two – but he still finds a way to score well in SC.
