Trade Talk – W3, Finals, 2013

Written by Motts on August 19 2013

Brought in Hartlett for Ibbotson last week. Got 90 out of him but the MRP could ruin my Prelim Final chances today after a “pretty fair” bump on Tape.

With Heppell, Hanley and Cox under a cloud as well the fit is well and truly hitting the shan.

So talk to me about your boys. Who’s out, who’s in?

  1. Think the potentially season ending shoulder injury is more of a concern with Hartlett!

Sitting with Heppel, Hanley, Hartlett in defence with the non playing Wilson an Clisby as cover OUCH!

    Also have Cox up forward.

1 trade left and could be in a lot of strife in my prelim this week after a more than decent 2310 on the w/e.

  2. Brought in Hartlett with my last trade.
Carnage in back line this week for most
    Coaches I am tipping.
$250 down the drain if I lose this week as our
League has a small gambling problem.

  3. If hanley and hartlett are gone I am probably toast. I can probably cover one, if thompson is back and mitchell plays I can cover both.

    That’s a very big if.

So looking at my team I am already carrying: goodes prudden (back) swallow (mid) currie (ruck)
my questionables this week are: thompson hanley hartlett (back) mitchell (mid) cox rowe (ruck) tippett daniher (fwd)

Ah well. A lot more injuries this year than I remember ever having.

  4. Two weeks back my problem was more about having no loophole players.
How I long for those days.
A lot of people are going to have similar problems depending on the mrp and injuries this week, so it come down to the ability to field a full team.

  5. 1 trade left

    – Should be able to cover Cox with Zorko
    – Heppell and Hanley are concerns can only cover 1
    – Hoping Webster plays (How sad is that???)

Are there any good defenders left?

  6. WTF happened this weekend!!

The only thing that saved me from going out in straight sets was using the loophole of Roughy (60) with Blivacs (115)! Big risk but paid off. I won in my main league by 19.

Good luck everyone for the remainder of the season.

  7. One trade remains.
In two prelims after a horror weekend (yep had bye in both leagues this week).

Have Staker (and Webster) to hopefully cover Hepp and Hanley.
Crouch to cover Cotch (if needed)
Zorko to cover Cox (if needed).

Five days ago my team was flying with a predicted total of 2497, now it is limping to the prelim.

  8. Depends on Cox and Hanley.

If both out, will be trading to cover them. Maybe just one actually if I use Staker as cover.

If both in, will be trading to upgrade/cash. JJK in the sights. And probably Clisby downgraded to make cash for next week.

  9. Pretty sure my entire side is injured or at the MRP. Reckon I’ll have a dozen Krispy Kremes this week………..

And of course my opponent has none of these players. Next year I’m going for a non-premium side ….. at least they play during the finals weeks

  10. In 4 out of my 5 finals (had the week off on all 4) And my only final was eliminated in was by Motts in SCT1.

Staker can cover Heppel or Hanley with 1 trade left to cover the other.

Sweating on Cox as Nicholls doesnt seem to be any rush on coming back in and Rowe is just not going to cut the mustard.

  11. I’m not in too bad a shape, 3/3 prelim finals this week. I have 2 trades left and 289k in the bank. I can cover Heppell and Cox (had Bartel score 135 on my bench last week!). I’m thinking T. Mitchell up to either J. Selwood or J. Watson, which would leave me 50k (if Selwood) or 185k (if Watson) for my final trade of Heppell (if not playing) to whoever (only >460k defs I don’t have is Scott D Thompson (didnt play), Ricky Henderson (didnt play), Corey Enright and Pearce Hanley (potentially injured)).

So I guess questions are: Selwood vs Watson (or any other super prem, I have Ablett, Swan, Pendles, Cotchin, Dids, K Jack, Barlow, and Priddis (Jaegar on bench)) and then which defender would you bring in (have Murphy, Goddard, Hibberd, H Shaw, Gibbs, (Staker on bench)?

  12. Can’t believe it!! After finishing 3,3 and 1 in my leagues and being in magnificent form the 3 rounds before te finals (average score of 2350) I’m out in all of them after scoring 2100 and 2000!! Went a month early and missed out immensely on the bragging rights over my dad and brother

  13. With Hartlett looking a cert to be out & Heppell not looking good, i am looking at the following: –

    Robert Murphy – $ 506,000. Next up Essendon – Projected 91 (got 106 in Rnd 11), Port – Projected 90 (got 110 in Rnd 8)

    Charlie Dixon – $ 424,700. Next up St Kilda – Projected 82 (got 130 in Rnd 1), GWS – Projected 84 (got 142 in Rnd 5)

    Lachie Henderson – $ 440,300. Next up Ess – Projected 91 (got 106 in Rnd 11), Port – Projected 90 (got 110 in Rnd 8).

    Birchall – $ 416,300. Next up North – Projected 80 (got 80 in Rnd 5), Sydney – Projected 79 (got 74 in Rnd 7).

Slightly short in money for Bob Murphy & Charlie Dixon. Dixon & Birchall a decent option as well. Henderson would give me DPP cover with Staker if i made it through to the GF.

    Thumbs UP: Dixon & Birchall
Thumbs DOWN: Dixon & Lachie Henderson

  14. Harley Bennel anyone? Averaged 127 in the past 3 weeks and has only got the Saints and Gws in the run home. Looks like Cotch is out this week so could be a straight swap. Also gotta get rid of Heppel so am going to swing Staker to defence and bring in Pavlich..

Then again, the reverse trades button has got a battering already.

  15. Would I be crazy if I started Brodie Grundy in the ruck if (when) Cox is ruled out? Ideally I’d like to trade Cox, but with so many peeps missing elsewhere (all the names listed above), this may be my best option. Thoughts….?

  16. Injury update, Tom Nicholls has been ruled out for the rest of the season. Whilst Heppell only expected too miss 1 week he could be back last round.

  17. Pittard is my last trade and I have $135,700 in the bank.

TU: Trade this week for Dixon/Birchall/Malceski
TD: Wait a week for Hanley/R.Murphy

I’m in the preliminary final in 4/5 of my leagues.
