WA have opened up their U18 Champs campaign with a 14 point win over the highly underrated Northern Territory team.

WA came out firing with Miles Bolger dominating the ruck. However The NT Thunder team, rose above and fought back through some brilliance of Tiwi Islander small forward Anthony Tipungwuti (3 Goals) giving them a lead of 3 points. NT came out after half time to finish off business, and through hard ball gets and the work of speedy attacking midfielder Louis Egger, put some much needed grunt into the game.

Gibson Turner stepped up and added some class to the affair, giving NT a well deserved 8 point lead at the final change.

Speedy midfielder Shannon Taylor opened the third quarter with the first goal to bring WA to within 2 points and from there on NT ran out of legs as classy midfielders Steven Coniglio (presumed to be one of GWS’ top 3 picks) and Jaeger O’Meara continued to impress AFL scouts. They broke the game open in the last – Coniglio capping a stunning day for himself and WA by kicking 2 late goals. O’Meara cannot enter this years draft but can however be picked up as a trade bait player to other clubs to gather either experienced players or draft picks.

Rustee signing off.

  1. Great write-up Rustee, Coniglio looks like he will be an absolute gun. I’m an avid Tigers supporter and just wondering if you know any good key defenders? I reakon the Tigers need someone of a Harry Taylor/Lake mould in defense to take that next step forward and win the premiership!

  2. I wouldn’t be totally disappointed if Coniglio ended up at the Lions next year… Mind you he’ll be a certain dream team starter in just about all sides I feel.

  4. Think I might have to pick Jaeger O’Meara next year just for his name.

Sounds like an Irish action hero. Half Arnie half leprechaun. GOLD 🙂
