Steady Remps. You’ve pulled up stumps after 3 games! I haven’t got Pendles, but I’m comfortable that with the $100k I’ve saved as I think I’ve got me a mid pricer who will average about 95-100. If you’ve used your savings wisely then you’re no worse off.

I would change what I would change EVERY year – the last minute panicked changes I make (usually after “x” is named on the bench for the first game – as though that means anything these days).
I would also have spent some money on defenders; Boumann, Morris, Ellis and Clarke … yick !!
Of course I also would have put the big “C” on Pendles … now wait for Gablett to be tagged out of the game …

Initially going to throw the laptop out the window when seeing Pendles score after trading him out 3 minutes prior to lock out. However Ellis and Morris’ low scores convienced me it was too big a risk with a backline of Clarke/Ellis/Darley/Morris/Smedts, so Pendles became Selwood and Smedts became Lake, with Clarke benched this week. If Lake outscores Clarke by more than Pendles does Selwood, all may not be lost. Unless of course Smedts carves it up and locks his place in the Cats best 21, then all may indeed be lost…
No rookies left on the field for the rest of the weekend (not counting Porps as a rookie), and with Parker, Sheil and Ellis’ scores already counted, I might just be able to sneak a score above 2000 with my 11 remaining men.
Quick Sat morning poll for those interested, will Selwood make my day with a score of 130+ (thumbs up), or will he ruin my weekend with a sub 100 score and 3 weeks off with concussion (thumbs down, obviously)? Anything in between will neither make me or break me…

Solid start Benno, if Gaj pumps out a 150 I can see you getting between 2100-2150.
In the 1st few rounds, IMO getting over 2100 with the amount of rookies you have on the ground will set a great foundation for your season.

I just tried that 14 day Supercoach Gold trial just to see how many people have selected some of the same players as me (was most interested in Pendles – 25% of teams have him), but I was shocked to find that the highest ownership rate was Franklin at about 63% owned and that Gablett is only in 53 % of all teams – 47% of teams don’t even have him, which strikes me as absolutely ludicrous.
So fess up – who here decided not to get Gablett and why (surely even the non-football following nuff nuffs know Ablett is awesome) ??

It’s a long season, Col. I’d be be happy with a 90+ average throughout the season. For finals, all depends on the health of your side (e.g. available players, trades). If you have 90+ player as your F7, I think that’s very acceptable.

Thinking exactly the same thing Johnny, I only picked Broughton because I thought (like many other coaches) that he would be in the midfield this year. Unfourtunately that isn’t the case as he was given a shut down role on Stevie J. Give it one more week and if the same happens again, straight swap Broughton for Adcock / Birchall looks good before the prices go up and down.

Have Goddard & Lake to finish off the week. Hoping to get to 2200, which seems like a solid start. Left some points on the bench with Bugg & Kennedy as emergencies, but I suspect that a few may have done that. Having Ellis, Broughton, Clarke and Smith all score less than 60 on the field hurts a little. There is a reason some guys are called premiums though, so thank you to: Murphy, Franklin, Rockliff, Ablett, Fyfe and Selwood

Things I learnt last night (North vs Dons):
- Stanton is earning respect by the minute
- Dempsey has improved ALOT and is now very hard at it with quite good foot skills
- Hille, Fletcher, Lovett-Murray and Mcveigh are more important than people think
- Melksham has got to improve his kick
- Hooker is not strong enough to compete with the big forwards… he gives too many cheap free kicks away when they beat him
- Hibberd is one of the most hard-at-it players I have seen down back for the Dons. He looks very good
- Hardingham has to be put on a small forward – he can’t compete with the big guys
- The team has to look for Hurley’s leads more, he is getting frustrated
- Zaharakis, Jetta and Monfires all have to lift and crumb better
- Watson’s kicking and turning over ofthe ball was disgraceful
- If Ryder doesn’t get lazy, he could be up there for the Brownlow
- The Dons will finish from 6th to 10th with North, St Kilda, Fremantle and Sydney filling the rest of those positions
And last, but definitely not least:
- DYSON HEPPEL IS GOING TO WIN A BROWNLOW!

so far pretty happy with my choice to go bartel (and a spare $50K) instead of selwood, hopefully it pays off in the long term with bartel keeping up with selwoods points, scoring just as good or better then him in most games, then using the $50K to go towards an upgrade for a very good premium maybe a week or so earlier then most people will be able to.

ups and downs for my team round 1:
-happy with most of my premos like pendles, buddy, GAJ, goddard, boyd etc.
-so far happy with my choice of bartel instead of selwood.
-hope a few premos like mummy, goodes lift next week.
-hope broughton plays in the mid next week, killed me last night.
-not sure what to do with lake
-bugg, kennedy were great.
-shiel on the field instead of magner cost me 70.
-redden on the field instead of giles cost me 20.

Good pick on Ebert I reckon. Out of the midprice mids I think Mzungu, Schuey, Sloane and Ebert were the pick of the bunch and after the weekend I think Ebert could be the best (and cheapest) bet. Although Barlow did do alright in half a game.
