Hawthorn
S Mitchell – With a 111 he’s staked his claim as an elite middy you can’t ignore. Certainly put himself in front of Sewell who only had a 68.
J Kayler-Thompson – Rookies who score 95 will always get my attention. Shame we won’t get to see him again next week after the Hawks got thumped.
R Schoenmakers – this cheap defensive option managed a 66.
C Peterson – caught my eye with some flashy play in the 2nd and 3rd quarters. Came off in the 4th but not before scoring 62. Just a lazy $100k if you want him.
L Franklin – 13 handballs from 20 possessions will never do your SC score much good even if you do kick 1.3. 53
L Hodge – 22 possessions and 1.2 but worryingly still only scored 50.
R Ladson – Like Peterson, came off in Q4 but I’d still like to see him with more than 24 if he’s going to keep his spot in my backline.
Western Bulldogs
D Giansiracusa – Just a lazy 119 which included 7 tackles. For $450k you may want to consider him in your forward line.
B Hall – Had already subbed him into my team before the last of his 4 goals in the 1st quarter. I’ll risk the brain fades. Ended up with 115.
M Boyd – all class as usual with 30 touches and a supergoal. 105.
R Griffen – Just waiting for the inevitable inconsistency. 93.
A Cooney – With an 84 sans tag is still not doing enough to get my attention.
B Moles – Watch him again this week. 77’s from 89k players don’t come around every day. Just wonder how he’ll go getting a game in the regular season.
Who have I missed that you liked/disliked from this game?

Brave call on the Hall. One brain fade – and it won’t have to be much – will cost you plenty. Plus, he’ll be reaching for a walking-frame by the end of the season. Having said that, I love a story of redemption and endurance and hope he proves me wrong. I’m just not as brave as Rodney and you, Motts.
You’d have to think that Rodney has read him the riot act and I’d be a lot more worried about an angry Rocket than an angry Roosy. Yes it’s a risk but this game is all about taking risks and at the end of the day, even if he does snap, its not going to cost me plenty. At most it will cost me a trade. And given Big Bad Bustling’s popularity at the Family Day yesterday, I’d say the biggest penalty the Dogs would impose would be some weeks on the pine. You’ve just given me an idea for a new article…
Riot acts make no difference. I don’t think Barry ever consciously thinks ‘Screw this, I’ll just job this bloke’. Some people sob when they snap. Some swear, scream and yell. Barry whacks blokes.
Just comes down to how well he internally manages stress.
And then there’s the tribunal. How will they deal with BBB if he darkens their doorstep? One would imagine that there’s a fairly hefty sized book loaded into a catapult just waiting for his bald nut to enter the chambers.
You’re right, Motts, that “this game is all about taking risks” because we do not know what the future will hold. But then there’s this thing called probability using past actions and events as a guide for future decisions. That’s what we are all agonising about at this time of the year (and then every week during the season) – what evidence do I have that player X will do what I want him to do and not do what I don’t want him to do? There is good evidence that Baz will fulfill the first part of this question; the risk lies in the latter.
