Weekend Summary – Hawthorn v Richmond

by Motts on February 17, 2010

Sam Mitchell ($576,300, 108.50) – 167 points = gun. The Extractor is one of the elite midfielders. Take your pick out of him, Selwood, Bartel, Corey and Judd. Has missed only one game in the last 3 years.

Luke Hodge ($485,600, 91.42) – A lock for your defence. 131 points on Saturday, plays up the ground, is healthy and is relatively cheap. Need I go on?

Lance Franklin ($466,700, 87.86) – Buddy’s back, baby. Hawks fans are already salivating at his 5.1 and 155 points (even if it was against the team that will come last this year). Won’t last long at this price.

Brad Sewell ($590,400, 111.16) – Always classy even when his eyes roll into the back of his head after a shirtfront. He ain’t cheap but 96 on Saturday shows he’s up there with the best. Played 19 games last year.

Xavier Ellis ($392,100, 73.82) – Hadn’t figured into my calculations this year but the pasty white kid seemed to be amongst it all night scoring 88. At this price he’s worth considering. Watch his next couple.

Ryan Schoenmakers ($196,900, 37.08) – Cheap option down back in his second year who is expected to improve. Needs to score higher than 49 to demand a spot though.

Rick Ladson ($249,300, 58.67) – Ladson has the same feel to him that Ryan Houlihan had last year. Priced very reasonably after an injury plagued previous season, you’d expect a lot of punters to ride the price gain before flipping him. Had a 61 in this match.

Wayde Skipper ($101,400) – He ain’t gonna be on your field but as a 4th string ruckman at least he’ll play and earn you some $$. 32.

Dustin Martin ($169,200) – One of the few shining lights in a very average team scoring 83. Demands consideration for your final field spot/first bench spot along with Trengove, Scully and Morabito. Cunnington’s hot spot (I almost feel dirty saying that) is ruling him out at this stage.

Brett Deledio ($549,300, 103.41) – Proven performer who would be a solid addition to any frontline regardless of the 81 in this match.

Trent Cotchin ($328,800, 61.90) – worth looking at but needs to do more than the 33 he got in this match. Keep an eye on him in the other praccies.

Looked proppy as all get-up at training and couldn’t run. Its going to take more than a bruise to dampen my enthusiasm for him though.

I guess he’s always got that extra week off. (PS Nice to hear something from you, Motts – I was beginning to think I had done something to offend but then I thought your hide was too thick for anything I could come up with!?)

As offensive as beating me by less than 20 not once but twice last year is kb, I have built the bridge and am now ready to kick yours and everybody else’s butt in our comp. Bring on the footy proper, I can’t hold the Maulers back much longer!!

Checking the recesses of my memory (ooh, it’s a bit ugly in here), I seem to recall the year when I finished top and then went out in straight sets, a certain gentleman of about your size knocked me off in the 1st week by about a tackle’s worth (and no, not a wedding tackle). Let’s exorcise those memories and smash each other convincingly next time.
