Where’s Mottsy?

by Motts on July 21, 2010

I’m on the road again. This time in the sprawling Harbour City watching training sessions, schmoozing clients, drinking til 4 in the morning, you know how it goes…

What it means is that I’m gonna struggle getting the Movers out this week. Feel free to post anyone in Comments that you have your eye on.

Poor decision by the Dogs that looks overly precious. Congratulations Jason Akermanis on a fantastic career.

Not true, he can’t be trusted, in a team environment trust is everything, just have a look at Ablett and the Cats.

Well, I guess we’ll just have to agree to disagree on this one mate. Irrespective of what he has done, this is no way to treat a player who has contributed a lot to our fantastic game. I certainly haven’t agreed with everything he has said over the years, but respect his right to freedom of expression. From what I understand, he was sacked for writing a book that mentions a couple of players in it. That said, I am neither a Doggies supporter, nor connected enough to know what has happened. Maybe you can tell me what Aker has done for you to say that he can’t be trusted, because I can’t see it.

OK. It is apparently not the book, but a series of “breaches” of trust over the past 18 months. I think there is more too this.

How did Sam Newman know about the Club meeting where, Aker had to sit in front of the players and answer questions from them, coz Aker told him.

From what I understand, Sam overheard him & Steve Price talking in a restaurant.
I guess you might say that he shouldn’t be doing that in the first place, and you would be right, but, realistically, he would be far from the only footballer to be guilty of that.
Yet, the conference said it wasn’t one thing, but a series of things over 18 months. I found that puzzling considering they could’ve just let Aker retire at the end of last season, but let him play on despite him having ‘breached’ their trust repeatedly, and knowing it would more than likely happen again.

Defs bring in Barlow.

How may Saints do you have in your team? I’m not so sure that Gilbert is going to turn it around.

trade out barlow, but with only 3 trades left, i would leave the defence the same for a week or two. Just to be safe on trades.

Umm….Barlow is out for the rest of the year mate, so maybe look to Selwood, Montagna, Boyd, Chapman, Swan, Pendlebury, Judd, Murphy, NDS etc.
I’m thinking that you can’t go wrong with Selwood.

Trade out barlow for sure. Wasted cash on bench, but save your other trades, and get someone better than Hayes.

Mr Sinclair, You prob should have done this the week he was out, my main suggestions were in here: http://supercoachtalk.com/barlow/ however prices have changed a little, and not knowing who you have in the midfield, for less than 570k I’d suggest Ablett or Judd or Boyd…. but would also take Gibbs or Cooney ahead of Hayes.

A few Blues supporters have suggested they reckon Murphy isn’t 100%, so rumor or not, I’d steer clear of him (Motts would have an opinion on that one)…. I’d go for Judd.

Just a lazy 125 for Lenny – interesting to see how the other options Boyd, Judd, Cooney and Gibbs go?
Who did you end up bringing in 39?

Nice post PA
I’m especially liking Fisher as I picked him up when Goose got injured instead of Gilbert as I was hoping he would revert to the quarterback type role. Hope he continues and Gilbert gets the defensive tag.
Winderlich could be anything if he played for a winning team as he scores like a pure SCS.
Have had SS since the beginning of the year as my calculated unique (+DPP) and was shattered when Craigie played him up forward for the first half. He’s probably the form “loose man in defense” player going around at the minute and I just hope when Bock returns, Davis is pushed forward.

IMO your boys have botched the Aker matter. If you play with matches you need to be prepared to get burnt. If the “distrust” has been going on for 18 mths then who re-signed him at the end of last year? Its a bit rich when Smorgan/Rocket et al take the high and mighty pulpit perspective when the cards with their fingerprints all over them collapse. Can’t imagine who’ll get the blame if BBBBH loses the plot and snots someone? Looking a bit shakey down there in the West with the window almost closed!

True Deano, when the doggies pick up Aker 4 years back, I thought it was a bad idea but last year he proved me wrong, kicked nearly 50 goals and should of retired on a high note. This year has been a joke to say the least, I don’t blame Aker as much as I blame the club for letting this circus continue for soooo long. Time will tell with Bazza, this year’s finals with be the telling factor.

Its an amazing aphrodysiac the aspiration for ultimate success. Apparently there was a club not so long ago that “sub-consciously” turned a bling eye to a culture of illicit drug use amongst some of its most senior and decorated players whilst it was enjoying the ultimate on field success?

Still got medhurst sitting on bench with gumby on ground, sec top 4 spot. 6 trades and 330k looking at goodes for upgrade for medhurst, thoughts would be appreciated,

also with a few swan mids out will he continue his run in the guts and scoring like we know he can? Don’t want to miss out on him.

You’ve got plenty of cash and quite a few trades, so I would definitely bring in Goodes. I brought him in 6 or 7 weeks ago under $400k and apart from the 16 he got against the Pies a couple of weeks back, he’s been top quality.

Cheers dobbo. Just tweaking the final line up before finals with my few spare trades, but also wary of a few rumors players playing injured ie Judd, pav, cox.

Lineup is
godd, hdge, malc, enr, shaw, wtrs kenlly (silv, strjk)
Gaj, nds, Judd, coon, mart, dfield (gys, shuey)
Sandi, cox (trngv, warnk)
Pav, buddy, rok, Gia, pod, brown, med (gumby, hcock)

So looking at spare cash going on med for goods, and martn/ dfield upgrades, on the basis shuey and gys get games soon per injury list for backup!

Anyone have some other ideas? Locked in top4 330k and 6 trades!
