  1. Not sure if he is under 430k, but Chris Knights is back this week and will play a big part in Adelaides early season revival. I wanted to have him, but took Robbie Gray instead thinking he would be out for less. (Bad move I know). Still, I have found myself at 157th overall, so I havnt made too many mistakes. Other than Knights you could look at Waite, or the already listed Rob Murphy, who is cheap as guts.

  2. Are we that convinced that Tippet is set for a horrible year after just two games? Sure he’s not had the best time but he can’t get much worse…

  3. Dangerman has been the crows only shining light in the last fornight, averaging 96 per game should see his value skyrocket in the future, Whist Tippy needs to score 178 this week just to break even, your saving around 90K plus dangerman’s increase.

  4. I know all those sc gods are saying save you trades and bla bla bla, calculate the ppg u’ll gain and u chose tippet at the start for a reason. BUT if people actually think for themselves, and weigh out the bad and good, to make your decision. I for one will trade tippet out.
    1. He is carrying an injury
    2. He is going to drop at least 50k, and to get back to his actual price, you would need him to get 100+ scores for 3 weeks which would bring you to round 5-6. Can you hold on to somebody that long? Knowing that they have COULD score 30-50’s? By then it would be too late, your looking at a 150k price drop by then.
    3. There are so many forwards and rucks that have shown their potential, now is the best time to get them before their price changes and if you dont it will be too late.
Plan for the worst, hope for the best. If the best didn’t happen, dont worry, you planned for it.

  5. I like Murphy, always have, think he is a gun. That said, I thought you were an advocate of NOT trading Tippett, trades are gold, two games is too early to make a call etc.

  8. What are your thoughts on Heath Grundy? I know he shares the Swans’ backline with Malceski and Kennelly, but he’s a consistent performer who has started really well (73 & 126) and is a DPP. I picked him from the start as a unique and so far I’m rapt with him.

  10. finally Houla is getting the respect he deserves.
Tippet is right in the gun if he puts out another piss-poor performance. I like the guy as a player but seriously, 29?!!?, even warnock scored better than him.

PS-if you still unsure about houla, theres a whole youtube channel with all his highlights. I dont think ive seen Tippy with a youtube channel dedicated to him???? something to think about lol..

  11. On an unrelated topic . . . I’m struggling with who to pick as captain this week. Apparently Creepy Crowley has a pretty good record on GAJ and I’m worried that the great man will be a tad sore after the Hawks clash, plus a flight across the country.

I’d pick ROK against the Tiges but don’t have him, and I’m worried about Voldt’s score against Presti, Harry O and Maxwell. JB against Port at AAMI doesn’t fill me with confidence either. Should I just stick to GAJ and be done with it?

  12. If anyone has thoughts on this potential trade idea, I’d love to hear it;

    Trade out Tippet 425,900 & Walker 239,400 + 5,700 = 671, 000
    Trade in Sandi 538,600 & Peterson 100,200 =32 200 in reserve.

Benefits of Sandi over Tippett are obvious, but, how about Peterson as a rookie cash cow? I can play either him, Rocky, or Hitchcock as a F7, with a view that 2 of these will appreciate enough to upgrade down the track. Will my F7 spot be better off, the same, or worse off by making this deal?

    Cheers.

My ruck set up now, is, Nat/Tipp/Warnock/Trengove. Ideally, I want to set set’n’forget whomever I nab, and I see Sandi as a great opportunity to get 100-odd points a week.
If I can get similar value from Kreuzer then I will take him. I do not know much about Jamar, except that he played well against the Pies last week. I have my doubts about Ottens durability.
I might have a think about Jamar $387,000, I think. Might allow Walker to become Ballantyne and offer stability in 2 positions that are lacking it now. cheers.

  17. I’m considering trading Tippett in the forward line for the obvious J Brown. I was having a look at Shannon Byrnes though and was wondering if anyone could give me some insight as to why less than 2% of coaches have him? Looking at his scores from last year he cleared 100+ numerous times but I also noticed this wasn’t consistent and at times he went through a patch of sub-par scores. With Scarlett out though will this not give him a bit more room as a smaller forward in the front line?

    Opinions?

    1. Do we have any confirmation on a Tippett injury?
And I also have Tippett, but the appeal for me, is to get J Brown…
I am seeing the coming of Fev as a good thing as it gets Brown up the ground more, but still with the ability to bag 7 goals. I think many SC’s are trading down Clark to Seaby to make the coin for the trade, which I am in the potential situation to do. That would use 2 trades, and profit on price rises vs falls. Otherwise, what Motts is proposing is to only use one, and downgrade Tippett… Dangerfield and Ballantyne look to be the best options i think, and both will incur serious price rises.

      1. i would get J.Brown before his price increases hes a gun and will score well considering only around $525,000 i think. Tippet is a great player and should get better but brown is a way better option i think

my forwards at the moment are: N.riewoldt, J. brown, r. o’keefe
        p.chapman, p.dangerfield, r.murphy and p.medhurst

          2. Have been looking everywhere for some backup info. All I have found so far is a reference in an afl.com article from last November referring to k/t suffered “last summer” (meaning the summer of 08/09) and a question flagged by a fanfooty punter siting Triple M as mentioning KT suffering k/t during the call of the game on the w/e.

[Is the whole KT – k/t thing just a coincidence or some sort of spooky SC God trickery?]

    1. Anyone read the Herald Sun article on the back page today that described all South Australian football supporters as “ferals”? I was amazed.

      1. Mate, I listen to the sports show on 5aa whenever I’m driving and some of the callers are either stuck in the dark-ages (“Whatever happened to man-on-man, accountable footy?”), simpletons (“All the Crows have to do is go in and get the footy!”) or just plain moronic (“Get rid of McLeod, Edwards, Goodwin and Burton and get some of these young blokes in there!”).

Having said that, can you tell me that SEN/3AW don’t get similar calls?

        0

        0
        1. I listen to SEN – Radar & Timmy Watson in the mornings and Francis Leach (who I’ve loved ever since his Triple J days) and Ox on the way home every day. Unfortunately I only work 5 minutes from home so I don’t get to hear a good cross section of the population to provide comment. But I’m sure tons of Collingwood supporters ring in ๐Ÿ˜€

        2. thats because they are all old fuddy duddy crows supporters who have no idea…which if your from SA like myself you come to realise crows supporters are a joke.

the powers are feral they are the poor man club but the crows fans are the worst…they have no idea and their so called ‘boys’ they think are gods gift…i refuse to go to footy park because it is a joke i would rather go to melb every day f the week because they do it right and it feels like AFL fotball when your there

    1. Yeah GAJ all the way he said he wasnt happy with his performance on monday. Although he got caught a couple of times still managed 38 disposals which was the most on ground
15 contested possessions which was the equal most on ground
Nine score involvements and six tackles not a bad game.

      128 SuperCoach points

plus he will step it up even more this week and score 200+
i’ll have him as (C) just ahead of ROK, Voldt and Brown ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Am thinking of a similar manoeuvre with the following justifications:
      1. Tippett was always a target to be upgraded to a premium at a latter date – this just brings that date forward.
      2. Walker (and my equivalent) were meant to step it up and make some money which is unlikely, at least compared to the cash Peterson is likely to make.
      3. Peterson is scoring similar/better numbers compared to Walker (and my equivalent).
      4. The trades will leave $ in the kitty.

      The negatives:
      1. The trade from Tippett to a premium was always in the plans but the other was not.
      2. Who knows how rookie Peterson will fair? I’ve jumped on a Hawk bolter before (Jarryd Morton) only to see his numbers plummet and him get dropped.

    1. If trading Tippett for Seaby/Mummy allows you to trade Ball for Montagna, that has to be a good thing.
Down the track, I want to trade Montagna in the team.
I was thinking about Seaby earlier in the week, but, I generally think the biggest upside for me in a deal like this cash, rather than an improved score. So I’m thinking seriously about Jamar, Kreuzer or Sandi (2 trades).
If I had the ability to turn a Tippet/Seaby trade into a Ball/Montagna trade I’d run with it for sure. I like Ball a lot and am rapt that he is a Pie, but, Montagna is a SC gun.

    1. Yeah start at the Nixon given its proximity to the ground. After that maybe check out the Exchange on the corner of Little Collins and King. After that, I’ll leave it up to you. You’ll be very close to a number of other fine establishments on King St though ๐Ÿ˜‰
