You’ve got one trade to downgrade a player in your forward line this week and you haven’t got either J-Pod or Rocky. Which one are you gonna grab?

I believe Rocky has more potential, even though you get him as a forward, he actually plays in the middle, so your basically getting a extra midfielder. The other reason is Job Security I think the Lobster will play all games from here on end, barring injury of course. JPOD will be competing against the likes of Moons, Tomahawk and even Rooke for a spot in the pussies top 22, so you will crossing your fingers just to see his name in the side. Don’t get me wrong JPOD is a great story but at the end of the day you want someone that you can rely on.
My thoughts exactly. Was too busy writing MM R4 – The Rucks so didn’t have the time to put it as well as you have here.
Pods seems to be a ready made tall forward. 28yo he’s experienced, matured body, a contested marker, a very competent goal kicker, he’s in a great side renowned for sharing the ball i think he can potentially match a barry hall in terms of points output and games played. 83k well spent.
ps rockliff is in my team already
Yeah, but is he in the cats best 22?
Not only that but there’s got to be plenty of reasons why 16 clubs have ignored this bloke for ten years. I acknowledge the mature age rookie revolution now however Barlow/Broughton/Silvagni etc were 19-21yo when rookie drafted – not 28!
As Deano says, the Bulldogs were screaming for a forward for years, everybody kept pointing to Pods but the Dogs kept knocking him back.
No sweat Mottsy, I’ve contemplating about it for a couple of days.
I am a brisbane supporter and i think pods for SC but rock if i was drafting obviously pods is a man rock is a boy
i think Rock for the simple descision that he can play mid i mean pods is great but do u really think he will out score a mid/forward every week i mean hes no Roo, ROK or JB, he will also be competing for the cats goals every week with Chappy, Byrnes, Johnson, Mooney and Tommahawk
Had Rock from the start and traded in Roo for J Pod last week and happy with the outcome so far
id say rocky, he’ll hopefully pull some of his NAB scores soon and thats pure gold!
Would it be madness to trade buddy for Rocky?? it did cross my mind, already have Pods and Hitchcock.
Ok guys. all this debate about pods is pointless is the below article is true

Can anyone give me more info on this as Mitch Brown is back in 2-3 weeks & hence Pods cant play anymore games or can they swap him for Steven Motlop???????
I know it’s late but can someone answer!!!!!
I’ve got Peterson, Duncan, Hitchcock and the rest keepers/premiums in my Fwd line so am going to resist the temptation to trade sideways to get Rocky or PODs as I’m not convinced they will give me season long security and its two weeks early to realise their $ potential. Even though the Fwd line alternatives are thin at this stage for the future, I still maintain that there will be a couple of smokeys out there that can provide a valuable upgrade come circa rds 7 -10.
I’m in exactly the same boat with who you have in the FWD line Deano and am leaning towards resisting the temptation – keep coming back tothe Beau Muston rule
I would think that if ipod is kicking 4-5 goals every week he would get a game before T Hawkins ?
Me too.
this is what scares me about pods:
bomber thompson, yesterday:
“Ultimately, Tom Hawkins is going to play a long time here so we’re going to try and make sure that that happens and do whatever we can to make it happen, because we think he’s got a huge upside and potential and he’ll be a leader of the forward line for a long time”
isn’t pods only elevated whilst mitch brown is injured, which looks like being only 2-3 more weeks, according to this site. then he’s out until round 12 or whenever it is that rookies can play seniors again- regardless of how well he’s playing. think peverill a few years back, he was playing really well but still had to give up his spot to the Senior player who returned from LTI. may have even won the anzac medal that year. Pods is there to fill in for when chappy needs a rest, moons cops a suspension, or tomahawk has a hair and nails appointment. He will not take any of their spots whilst they are fit, based on form. Scarlett, Stokes, Varcoe and Rooke all coming back in pretty soon as well. Tread carefully if using a trade to get pods in now, but i couldn’t recommend it. Rockliff looks safer but hey, its round 4, what are you trading for anyway? you can’t have every cash cow in your team, and good options pop up all throughout the year, these two aren’t the be all and end all.
Nice work watts, I like the bit about Ms. Hawkins and you last sentence makes alot of sense.
And that is what is awesome about community sites. Great comments watts.
Hey Watts,
How about replacing Motlop? Is that possible? With Peverill, I know he got put back when Misiti was right to go (can’t really elaborate any more than that though). He didn’t win the Anzac Medal (I think it might have been one of Hirdys 3). I do agree with your many valid points on Pods… buyer beware. He may just be the flavor of the week. Two weeks ago everyone was trading out Harvey… egg on their face the next week.
A week is a long time in footy…
good pick-up swiper,
i didn’t notice him being placed on the LTI list last week. you’d guess he can replace motlop when mitch brown comes back,(not sure of the rules myself), but then that means mitch brown is back- another key forward for geelong to chose from.
and i looked it up, chris tarrant won the anzac medal in 2001 with 5 goals. it was peverills second game, he had a game high 5 tackles.(when tackle counts weren’t obscenely high as they are these days).
hey guys,
whats everyone’s thoughts on Rockliff do you reckon he’s a must have.
He’s a good player, plus he plays forward/midfield and its certain that his price is on the rise, not sure if i should trade him in, already have pods on the pine.
i cant think of anyone to trade for him if i do get him, and i dont want to waste a trade on my reserves. i love my forward line, but i might need the cash for a upgrade in the backline/midfield later on.
my forwards at the moment are: Brown, Chappy, ROK, Pav, Higgins, Rioli and Ziebell
That’s a super-strong forward line. I wouldn’t touch it if I were you. Remember that there will be plenty of cash-cows presenting themselves throughout the course of the season so I would definitely save the trade until then.
Motts agrees with Mike.
