Who’s on-the-nose in 2010?

Written by Big Sexy on April 21 2010

Well with the 2010 season well and truly under way, who do you think is the biggest stinker in 2010?   Here’s my top 3:

Number 3)  Kurt “Big-Bucks” Tippett has to be high on the list, after taking cash and long term contract to stay away from the GC, he’s looking more like he’s ready to retire in the GC with all the cash he just pocketed rather than play another decent game….. Tippett has dropped $124k and has a huge average of 35!!!!!  If you have him listed as a forward, I have two words for you ‘Trade Time’.  The only reason he wasn’t number 1 is that I’m cutting him some age-slack.

Number 2)  Ryan “Hangover” Hargrave was one of the SC Champions last season, whose scores scored high, along with his price tag.  This season, Hargrave is either hungover from their world beating NAB Cup victory, or hungover from his great season in 2009.  Either way, his price drop of $117k and his very average, average of 56 has landed him the number 2 position.

Drum roll…..

Number 1)  SC retard of 2010 so far is Sam “I must have done hammy to play this bad” Mitchell.  Now we all know Sammy is a gun footballer…. But his last 3 scores of 67, 59 and 64 are dismal for one of the premier midfielders in the comp.  His price has surprisingly only dropped $107k to $468, and only saved by his 107 in round 1.  Sam Mitchell gets the Round 4 raspberry from The BS!!!!!

If you have any of these blokes…. Tippett I would trade, Hargrave I would wait another week or two before I pulled the trigger….. and Mitchell believe it or not I would hang on to, as I’m 100% confident he will turn it around if his hammy doesn’t snap or his heart muscle doesn’t twang.

Also, these are the blokes to watch if you want to pick up a bargain, particularly if you think they will turn it around, hence why I will be looking very closely a Mitchell and Goodes over the coming weeks.

Tell me what you think, who’s the biggest spastic in your team so far?

I tried to not just pick on new kids or Ruckmen who have all had average starts (Big Sandy excluded).

  1. I have Mitchell and Im tempted to trade but will give him another week against the kangas UNLESS someone can convince me otherwise. Tippett was traded 2 weeks ago – thank god!

    1. Good move on Tippett. Your problem with Mitchell is that he ‘may’ not play this week… though I’ve never seen a hammy that didn’t get iced before, so it can’t be too bad. I’d wait a week or two….. I’ll think about grabbing him in a couple of week if his price keep dropping and Sewell comes back.

  2. Hey guys I need some serious help! My team is in ruins. Should i trade medhurst/mayne/dangerfield/Gia for rocky/Pods and then trade mitchell/ball for Goddard/Ablett. I can only trade Ball for Goddard tho. help me plz!

    1. In regards to Medhurst/Mayne/Dangerfield/Gia don’t look at their price tags and just dump who is not getting the points you want out of them. Think of it in terms of cash cows vs keepers. I would and am holding onto Gia as i think he will fire when the dogs get up and running. Trading out Mitchell seems a risk unless you don’t have any back up.

      1. It’s time to go……. P Medhurst, he’s just not getting enough of it, and he’s not even playing that badly, so I’d dump him. Mayne/Danger/Gia all have potential, I also have Danger and he was almost killed two weeks ago, so cutting him a few week grace…. He’s my tip for a break-out year if he gets his body right and kicks a few goals.

  3. what do you reckon BS
im thinking about downgrading ryan bastinac to kane lucas that’ll leave 392k in the bank and then upgrading ither martin or barlow to judd or sewell that will leave 14 trade left
do you think it will be worth it now or wait and save trades??

    1. Hey Dunx, according to my calculations, if Bastinac can maintain his average of 79, he should go up to almost 400k over a few weeks, so I would keep him at least until he’s up over 300k… and if he has a couple of blinders… ka-ching$$$ Lucas will also rise significantly….. but Bastinac has plenty left in him.

  4. Yeah I drop punted Tip Top (can we get that as an ironic nickname to match up against Nic Nac? Just sayin’…) early.

Now I only have mild concerns in under-performance: Ziebell, T Cloke and even R Murphy (17 pts on the weekend? Fo’ real?)

    1. I traded Tip Pot after Rnd 2 as well and have been happy with that.

I think I’ll bowl Bally a yorker this week and up end his chances of playing with the Sneakies again. And Robbie Gray needs to play this week, because this is not a bus and we’re not taking passengers. Although, he did pretty well considering the smashing the Cats gave them last week and Harry Taylor taking everything in defence.

    2. I don’t rate Ziebell , Cloke or Murphy (Motts wants to have Ziebell’s baby), and would be looking to trade all over time….. but you can’t waste trades, so maybe dump one, and wait for injury’s….. If had to get rid of one, it would be out of Cloke or Ziebell for me… prob Ziebell, and I can get 70/80 points out of any first year worth 100k.

  6. unfortunately i started the year with tip put, mitchell and ziebell. tip put is gawn now after carrying him for 3 weeks but haging on to mitch and jz. although their not setting the world alight, not sure their worth the trade yet either. mitchell especially i think ill back in. the hawks have had a tough draw so far with the exception of melb (when he got 107) so hopefully he can start to pick it up when the hawks start playing the richmonds of the world.

  7. I Culled Mitchy after his unexplainable effort against the pussies in round 2, he had over 30 touches and only scored a dismal 64. But then I went though his stats and notice had didn’t lay one tackle all day, didn’t get much contested poses and the clinger was his 7 clangers. I ended up trading him for Goddard and haven’t look back.

  8. Hey Wiz, I’d suggest if your going to dump ball, you either upgrade to swan/gaj/dal, or cash in and get a rookie. No point getting a 400k player who’s only gona give you 70-90.

      1. yeah you’re right, not that a tag has ever worried him too much…can’t decide whether to get him now or next week (for Trengove). It was a bad decision like this last week that lost me the game!

      1. kb & AI:
I wouldn’t really believe anything Greg Denham says, whether In the Australian or SEN. Clarko said it depends on how he pulls up after last nights training session.

        BS
“Bad call” on SM @ #1: His 64 came against the ‘pink pig’ at Geelong, 67 before coming off prior to ¾ time against Collingwood. You’d expect he would’ve gotten at least 80-90 if he played out the game which is not bad in a loosing team. OK, a clanger riddled game against the doggies but still….’Bad Call!’ BS

        1. Mr Burbler, I take your point……. BUT, “if” I had Mithcell I would expect 100+ every week, and I wouldn’t care if he was getting tagged by the pink pig, or even Juddy or GAJ….. I’d expect my hunge….. he’s hasn’t performed. However, I do agree with one thing, he will turn it around, I had him a couple of years ago and was awesome, and i did say above that I wouldn’t trade him… just that he’s been crap. Ironically, I may look to draft him in a few weeks.

  9. Waaa? Why Waite and Thorton to miss again?? Surely we need them against the Cats!!

My biggest dissapointment this year so fat has been T Lockyer!! Had him last year and served me so well, thought he would be rock solid again but has been hopeless. Not even scoring well when Collingwood are thumping a team. Need to trade him but gonna give him another week!

  10. Motts,

You say nice pick up for Pods but what are the Rookie elevation rules?
Can anyone give me more info on this as Mitch Brown is back in 2-3 weeks & hence Pods cant play anymore games or can they swap him for Steven Motlop??

  11. Might be a noob question but if a player doesn’t play the last quarter like Mitchel, does there SC points go down or stay the same??
And btw, Mitchel lost too much money now for me to trade him, gunna ride out the storm hoping breaks even in the coming weeks.

    1. He should roughly stay the same, but all scores are amended after the game so the total points across all players for a game is equates to 3300 as far as i understand. I am under the impression that they dip into other stats for these amendments and take into account impact on game. I have found nothing to support a concrete formula.

      1. That’s because there is nothing, Matt. Champion Data keep the formula a tightly held secret. Some are trying to crack it but to date I don’t believe anyone has.

        1. They divide the points by quarters so the first quarter 800 or so points will be divided between the two teams, then 1600 or so at half time, 2400 or so at 3 quarter time and finally 3200 or so at full time

  12. i have both ball and mitchell in my midfield and wnat to get rid of both. I’m thinking about trading out ladson for schmitt to free up cash then get rid of either ball or mitchell for riscitelli. then the following week get rid of the other with the left over cash. should i trade out ball or mitchell with his dodgey hammy this week??? and is this overall a good or bad idea??

    1. Hang on to Mitchell (if you can), but I would look to dump Ball next time a 100k gun midfielder comes up for grabs.

  13. GODDARD / HODGE / MALCESKI / GRAM / MCPHARLIN / KENNELLY / MAGURIE ( WHITE / TALIA )

    ABLETT / SELWOOD (C) / O’KEEFE / SWALLOW / BARLOW / VAN BERLO ( WRIGHT / YOUSHUIA )

    SEABY / WARNOCK ( BELLCHAMBERS / PRATO )

    BROWN / GOODES / CHAPMAN / HALL / PODSIADLY / KNIGHTS / PORPLYZIA ( ROCKCLIFF / WATTS )

Any suggestions on trades or what you think.

    1. Have you got enough swannies in your side? Half of your bench players won’t see the light of day let alone play a game.

      0

  14. my problem is my midfield is selwood, mitchell, ball, barlow, dangerfield and martin with trengrove and bastinac. i do have pavlich and ROK in my forward line able to swap with danger. but i feel i need to upgrade both ball and mitchell

    0

    0
    1. Bastinac should be on the field, he’ll prob give you 80. Do you have a dud rookie forward (i.e. Rohan), that is also a MId that you can swap with Danger, and then bench in the midfield?

      0

      0
  15. Nope. so my idea is trade ladson for schmitt to free up cash. then i have like 650k to trade out ball for either (haven’t decided yet) Swan, Dal Santo, Murphey or Simpson. then next week trade mitchell for riscitelli or somebody better if i have spare cash

    1. Stick with Mitchell he’ll come good… you trade him and you’ll be chasing your tail all year and burning trades.
One thing to consider with Mitchell the last three weeks the Hawks have played in 3 incredibly high intensity matches, the Cats was tough and tight, so was the Doggies and then the Pies didn’t give us a sniff last week. I don’t think we are going to cop that sort of intensity (which leads to clangers and ineffective kicks) in the coming weeks. The next 5 are Kangas, Bombers, West Coast, Rich and Carlton they are hardly the Cats, Doggies and Pies! Watch him bounce back strong!

  18. As strange as it sounds, I traded out Ball for Sidebottom.. he is looking the goods and getting plenty of the pill, so with any luck his price will go up and also give me the points 😉
