There you go, scatts.

And for the record, Deano, I haven’t been to Africa since January, 2009 when I made a quick trip to Marrakesh.

No way unless they learn to look after their Skipper and develop a “team first” mentality to their overall approach.
What happened against Freo should be embarassing to all players and coaches and supporters should send a clear message that the team they want to follow are not flat track bullies but dig in and back each other when the going gets tough.
I’m not a particular fan of McLean or Robinson however surely you need a team that has a balanced midfield as opposed to one that has seagulls lining up for the uncontested outside clearances.

McLean was supposed to be our in and under guy. Without him playing the seagulls have been exposed.

Exactly my point – its not rocket science but every time your guys seem to take the next step required for breaking the mould and consistently demonstrating a winning culture, the wheels fall off the work taken to make that significant step forward seems lost as they move two steps back.
Enough metaphors for you?

Our problem is we keep confusing the fact that many hands make light work with too many cooks spoiling the broth. As a result we’re throwing the baby out with the bathwater and then crying over spilt milk.

carlton are too busy reading robert walls articles , and believing in there own press . carlton have the cattle to be a great side but too many carlton players have egos the size robert walls… when backs to the wall they seem to play there better footy , so skill wise they got it , but mind wise they don’t have it.

Carlton are big pretenders. They may be great off half back but that is were it ends. The same players are not accountable. Jordan Russell was ducking his head three weeks ago and Heath Scotland is one way traffic.
NB :
I picked Jordan as a unique and traded him out three weeks past.
cheers.

As a ‘roos supporter i hope not as we want your spot but as a SC coach with Waite, Judd and Murphy (i had Kreuz playing til Saturday’s knee and i traded off Warnock when Hille went down) i’d like them to remain competitive and finish 9th.

Yeah, the Hawks still have 6 – 7 wins left in them, which would take them to 13 – 14 for the season, the blues have to travel twice to Subi and still have to play 3/5 top sides on the current ladder. No kruise, No Blues.

Motts June 23, 2010 at 5:14 pm

6 – 7 wins out of 9 games with opponents that include Geelong, St Kilda (at Etihad), Collingwood, your boys, and the Swans in Sydney.

Its only my opinion, PA, but I think that’s very ambitious.

“No kruise, no Blues” – they said the same thing about the Saints when Riewoldt went down, didn’t they?

Hawks only have to knock off one of those teams and it could be the doggies. As for the Blues who’s going to replace Kruz? Warnock hasn’t done much this year and Hampson hasn’t played a senior game this year.

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

Motts June 23, 2010 at 7:07 pm

To be precise, to get to 6 wins, the Hawks are going to have to knock off 2 of those teams and win every other match they play (which includes Port – a traditional bogey team – in Adelaide).

As for the Blues, a lot of people are forgetting that Sam Jacobs has been more than serviceable in the ruck for us this year. Hampson played 14 games for us last year and has been doing well in the 2′s – that makes him a good candidate for the back-up role. The only question is whether the amount of money spent on Warnock dictates that they play him.

I, for one, hope that’s not the case.

My bad, I was talking about the top 4 sides, Cats, Saints, Dogs and Pies, they should beat the Swans in Sydney which would make it Six.

I admit the Collingwood positioning is hopeful more than anything – I’ve got a bottle of grange on the Pies missing the Top 4. I also have a bottle of grange on the Blues making the 8. With this ladder I’d win 2 bottles of liquid gold. Ripper.

We’ll find out soon enough, wont we PA? Collingwood will need to improve on recent form, and I think the boys can do it. I think there is a lot of improvement in this team.
Now, is it just me, or does Gia not like Aker very much?

Aker has other things on his mind expect footy, I think his more interested in a new career next year than his footy this year. That’s why the rest of the team don’t want to have anything to do with him, plus he lies a lot too.

HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA Outstanding Motts. The first sign of fear I have seen from the big fella this year. Even had a poll to try and salvage a little, which hilariously is in favour of the Blues dropping out.

Punters it is I who has the ridiculous Grange Hermitage bet with SCT’s on favourite son. Pies will stick in the 4 and all I need now is for the woeful Blues to drop out of the 8 for 2 bottles of, how did you put it Motts? Liquid Gold. Anyone keen to pop over for an $80 glass of wine come first week of September?

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

Reply

Motts June 23, 2010 at 11:03 am

Must admit to being a little concerned after the last 2 weeks but confident we’ll bounce back after learning from the experience. The poll was a suggestion of one of the punters, scatts, so who was I to argue?

Wouldn’t be getting too cock-a-hoop about your boys after their inability to knock over Melbourne last round. A loss to Sydney this week and the wheel nuts will definitely be loosened on the Wobbly Wagon.

Always keen to enjoy a glass of Grange, although I think the first week of September may be a little early. Allow the bottle a further weeks to mature and it might just be the perfect way to celebrate a 15th flag.

I think Jesus will have to lift his recent form to win the Brownlow, but I suspect he might be leading the count at this stage. I like Bartel, Hodge, Swan, Chapman, Goddard, Sandilands & Barlow in addition to Jesus. Off the top of my head, I can’t think of anyone else.
I like Martin @ this stage for Rising Star and agree with you that it’ll be a Pies/Cats GF.

Sportingbet’s market for the final 8 for teams not named Geelong, St Kilda, Footscray, Fremantle or Collingwood:

Sydney 1.15
Carlton 1.25
Hawthorn 1.55
North Melbourne 3.25
Essendon 4.25
Melbourne 6.00
Brisbane 7.50
Port Adelaide 19.00
Adelaide 51.00
Richmond 67.00
West Coast 101.00

(prices as of this morning)

Based on that, I’d say Carlton are odds on to make it in.

Grimmo was pretty confident that with Fev gone you could stick a fork in us, Eggs. And I had to reciprocate with a Pies to miss the Top 4 bet. If both events occur they cancel each other out. Same case if neither occurs. If one occurs and one doesn’t its a 2 bottle bet which one of us is going to be exceedingly unhappy about.

Hence I’m praying like hell that last round’s draw with Melbourne was the beginning of the end for the Wobblers. Just like Grimmo’s hoping like hell the last 2 weeks are no fluke for The Blues.
