You’ve brought the bloke into the team expecting massive things from him and all he’s done is spudded it up for you from Day 1. Who’s been your worst trade so far this year?

Leon Davis , what a joke !!!
He continues to tease like a two bit hooker (not Cale , see Prostitute) but very rarely delivers

Jonathon Brown. Brought him in when he was being compared to Carey in R3. Paid $525k for him and then endured shocking performance after shocking performance before Voss finally put him down in R11. I traded him out the week after for a measly $390k. Ouch.

Agreed! See Motts explanation above as it is identical to my story!

Same here with JB, and I bet we are not the only ones, but I would like to thank Brett Ratten for changing Carrazzos role to a tagger after I traded him in and saw his points drop from tons to 60-70 everyweek.

I did the same with JB and still have him sitting on the sidelines. He dropped so much I didn’t think he was even worth trading out. Though my worst trade was bringing in Kayler-Thomson to my midfield bench for his third game to cover some injuries….. he played a stinker and hasn’t played since.

I’m one of the thousands that brought in Brown for Roo and its still hurting, will hurt more when I trade him out to bring Roo back in- an expensive exersise! Oh, and Rusty, f@#k you! I did the opposite! Haven’t had a decent score out of Carrazzo yet!
Also brought in Howlett for bench cover when the Demons dropped MacKenzie and he’s hardly played since. Stuffed if I know why, I reckon he goes alright. Why, Knights, why????

Ha! Great thread. Was gonna suggest doing this as all I’ve done this year has been make bad trades. One after the other. It’s been hilarious to watch!
Worst trade was undoubtably trading Hall out for Leon Davis in Round 8.
Since then Hall has gone up in value by about $40k whilst Neon has gone down (and down and down) by over $104K. And I thought I was getting a bargain!
Second worst trade would be Jolly to Seaby very early in the piece.

Jonno Brown for sure. Got him for 525k near the start of the season then came the injury and i can’t believe i kept him until he was 390k

Second worst for me was Jarrod Brennan, thought he was going to be a gold DPP but played poorly and then got injured… burnt!

Hall -> Brennan In R5, After having 3 tons in a row as soon as I got him he spudded it up big time, then he got injured in R8 so I traded him out for Varcoe.

Reiwoldt > Brennan is one of mine and although the DPP thing may still come in handy and he may just have a day out soon and find form it’s cost me a lot of $$$.
Waite > Petterd is another but was done in part to get Judd > Mitchell so no great loss aside from the trade the next week to get Nat Fyfe for Petterd and trade out Bastinac for Pavlich.
Other than that I reckon I’ve done OK!

Keeping Gray in my starting 30 players in Rd 1.
Ended up patiently awaiting his return while he was warming the pine in Gumbleton’s place (who was steadily knocking up sub 50 scores)
Gray gets named in Rd 4. He scores 70 & 48
Gray > P Davis before Gray subsequently notches up 127 & 93
Also literally last minute decision to put Tippett my starting side in place of Higgins. I watched in pain as Tippett spudded it up, while Higgins went on his way to score 5 consecutive scores of 90+
After Rd 2, traded Tippett > J Brown, we all know how he turned out.
Mitch Clark was another spud who I traded > Mark Seaby after his delightful 82 & 135, only for him to eventually churn out a 3 point game that lost me my league game and a lot of dough.
It’s been a rough year. Started in my very competitive paid league on 0-4. Now finding some form to find myself at 7-5.

I remember that one 4s – if only someone had have suggested you wait until Peartree had played a couple of games to see how his foot was. Wasn’t it PA encouraging you to make the trade?
I think it was about that time when Rolly turned his form around too – double burn. Who did you trade in? Varcoe wasn’t it?

O’Keefe – traded him in at $573,000 in round 6. Though he was going through a small form slump and pounced…little did I know. Oh well, that’ll learn me.

I traded in J brown after his first 2 rounds. I had heaps of cash at the time so i traded him in for an unknown player named Rockcliff who hadnt been named for a game at the time. He was named the next week. OUCH! And the even bigger ouch was I had Jack Watts warming the pine from the very beggining and kept him instead of Rockcliff. IDIOT!!!

Nick Riewoldt for Jonathan Brown
Even after the injury, i kept Riewoldt around, hoping he would come back for the SC finals. After hearing reports that he wouldnt be fit until the actual finals, I finally relented. The worst part is, i normally have 8 forwards scoring each week, and could afford having Riewoldt on the bench,

I traded out Waters at 354k for Goddard, then that week a 400k Kennelly copped a 0, and waters went on a 100 spree for a month. Although, you can’t control that.
The one I could control is Maguire -> Hurn at 495k. Hurn had a BE of 80 and was on fire, plus I loved him as he repaid the faith to me having him all last year. I could have got Gilbert at 455k and after I traded in Hurn he gave me three 70′s, a 68, a 33 and a calf injury and Gilbert went on to score a multiple hundreds and all 80+ scores.
Starting with the tiprat Tippet forced me to get rid of him, and oh no, in came SEABISCUIT! This prick stunk it up before getting injured> Now I have Sandi Cox, but it cost me valuable trades.
Starting with Gray. Enough said.
Although all this has taught me valuable lessons for next year. Don’t start with injured players. Don’t trade in blokes who you know are duds, they will continue to be duds after the honeymoon period and don’t let a man crush get in the way of a bargain premium!

The same beef as almost everyone. Roo into J Brown when we all should have gone Roo into Chapman but we were all concerned with his Hammys.
Trading out Rockliff after his poor first few scores. I was such a fan of this guy before he had even got a game, even got some coin on him for Nab rising star at $80/1 but I wanted to get Goodes at a cheap price and he was the only 1 left.

Also, taking Goodes when I though I was getting a bargin at 500k and see his price plumet. At least he returned some faith last weekend.

Looking at my trade history there’s only two trades with which i’m not overly happy about the result.
Riewoldt >> J Brown … these things happen and given the available information J Brown was a no brainer for Riewoldt’s replacement
Howlett >> Gysberts … Gysberts has been a big let down for SCers since his first two big weeks. Wished i hadn’t done this trade now but like i said with Browny, it was a no-brainer at the time.
My real annoyances are with my pre-season mid-priced selections which have taken half-a-dozen trades to rectify. Have now rid myself of M Brown, Ladson, Joel MacDonald, Ball, Vince, Dangerfield, Hunt and Ziebell (all of which didn’t really earn me money, didn’t really score well and just generally annoyed me!!).

I agree with your Browny call. I don’t really consider it as a bad trade simply because it made so much sense to bring him in at the time, plus thousands of other coaches would have made the same move.

My 2 worst trades would have to be Jolly for Seaby in round 3, and then dumping him 6 rounds later. And the other is Kennelly to Myers in Rnd 10 and then out again in Rnd 15.
Admittedly, was happy to get rid of Jolly at the time, and now have Cox as my main man, and also happy to get rid of Kennelly at the time. But Seaby stuffed it up, and Myers could have been a great call, except he’s coached by Knights and the revolving door selection process.
