MJ’s Captaincy Candidates, R19

Written by MJ on August 7 2015

#1. Todd Goldstein (v Melb: 100, 158, 142, 158, 74; Form: 164, 127, 221) No one could possibly doubt his dominance in the captain poll that will be evident this week. You’d be bonkers not to have C on Sunday if your VC doesn’t perform to standard. He’s not only in the form of his life, but has a remarkable record against the Dees.

#2. Joel Selwood (v Syd: 89, 98, 131, 163, 111; Form: 171, 142, 98) It hasn’t taken long for Joel to reaffirm his presence in the SuperCoach world. Two massive tons in the last fortnight and a strong history of finishing seasons like a house on fire makes him a great option.

#3. Brett Deledio (v Adel: 112, 141, 110, 101, 127; Form: 134, 92, 141) Deledio is in some inspired form, kicking the first three goals of the game and a sealer in the last quarter to quell any Hawthorn revival. Five straight tons against the Crows points to another good showing as your Friday night VC.

#4. Patrick Dangerfield (v Rich: 99, 150, 86, 99, 50; Form: 73, 127, 121) Despite boasting only one huge game against the Yellow and Black, Danger has to be considered for your VC tonight. He’s the fourth best player over the last five weeks with an average of 121.

#5. Dan Hannebery (v Geel: 111, 104, 83, 97, 42; Form: 134, 60, 102) Back to form with 134 last round. With Fyfe out for the second week running, the young Swan could finish R19 in second spot for overall points in 2015. Who could have predicted that in preseason!? Well done for all those who have jumped on board the Hannebery Express.

Sorry, there are no polls available at the moment.

  1. Even though he might be carrying some sort of injury, I’m going with Pendles against Carlton. Goldy is solid back-up if that doesn’t work out…….

  2. Selwood VC

    Goldstein C

How’s this for a stat, Joel Selwood playing his 200th game this week-end is apparently out of a possible 213 games since he started!

  3. Fellas, who to VC into the Gold Beanstalk?

T/U: Swan (Vince will leech Pendles)
T/D: Houli (POD on the rise after Ramadan and will have plenty of ball v Crows’ iffy forwards)

Need to go outside the box as not too many obvious dominant players in my decimated squad. Thanks!

  4. How are you guys all loopholing Saturday players? I thought everyone had Mason Cox as R3!

I was going to bring in Hannebery for WInes, but now I’m thinking Deledio because I don’t have a F/M DPP link yet and I don’t have anyone to VC on Friday night except Dusty.

    T/U – Deledio
    T/D – Hannebery

EDIT: Just saw Dan pre-empt this post by literally 1 minute with info that Deledio is a possible late out. Guess that solves that question! Haha
