2014 LoEC1 Grand Final Preview

Written by MJ on August 29 2014

Qualifying for any of our Leagues of Extraordinary Coaches (LoEC) is an achievement in itself. Making the Grand Final in one of these leagues is another achievement altogether. It’s no surprise to anyone that SCT LoEC1 has been our strongest performing league this year, currently sitting as the 20th best league in the world. It was so competitive, that even 17th place managed a win-loss column of 7-10. Keep an eye on the website during pre-season and remember to take a screenshot of your final overall ranking if you think you have what it takes to qualify for 2015.

Remember, Hawker has kindly organised a pair of Blundstone boots for the winners of all our LoEC leagues and the highest overall point scorer in SCTTL. He encourages the winners to make their selections via Blundstone’s website.

The Grand Final is upon us, with Sam’s (Leo Messi) Navy ‘Til I Die*** v Deano’s Wereflyinghigh

Navy ‘Til I Die*** will be forced to field Zac O’Brien if no trades are available in his locker with injury to key midfielder Steve Johnson, and and untimely suspension for Brent Harvey. The team has fought admirably in this year’s finals series, coming from 6th place on the ladder and winning Week 2 by a mere 10 points over The Phat Side.

Wereflyinghigh is in remarkably good shape heading into the final round, with excess premiums flooding the bench and emergency loopholing opportunities aplenty. Scoring 2,577 last week, they’re the team in form and will be heading into the match as favourites. We all know anything can happen on the day though.

  1. Great right up MJ and its been an awesome league and a pleasure being in it. My team crumbled late and while I don’t completely blame a one T Cloke, M Pavlich or J Roughead they will not be making the team next season!

Good luck to Deano and Sam but I cant help going for the underdog and will be chanting “Navy ‘Til I Die” this weekend! along with Carrrrrn the Blues.

  2. Great write up MJ!!

My Navy ‘Til I Die have enjoyed the benchmark of our leagues in my debut year.

Two trades left to replace Boomer and Stevie J and my inclusions are being decided and are listed under “Teams” on last nights thread.

Good luck Deano it should be a ripper!!!!

  4. Great stuff MJ.

Best of luck Sam, a bit cheeky keeping two trades up your sleeve throughout a tight finals series.

Should be a cracker of a game!

  5. Good lucks gents, outstanding effort once again by the SCT crew in 2014 & all the best to all coaches competiting this week-end!

I myself competed in LoEC1 & was looking forward to defending last years premiership, only to be ripped a new one by many of the coaches in that league this season! All LoEC & SCT leagues are extremely competitive & well orchestrated by the SCT team throughout the set up of the season.

Cheers Motts, MJ, BS, Duck, Nath & all the weekly contributors on the SCT site!
