  2. Unsure how to look at these results today. 6th v 18th on a hot and humid day in QLD. Brisbane missing their 2 key mids in Beams and Zorko so i feel changes a lot of scores in the Brisbane team.

Martin on 70 with 12 possies, 5 clearances and 14 hit outs. Add their 2 mids in and i feel those results change a lot. I feel those 2 add better ball use which would increase the scores in the fwd line on the likes of Christensen and Robinson.

Darcy Cameron hasn’t been used in the ruck which is unusual as it is split between Towers and Sinclair, also only 22% tog.
Heeney hasnt done much but is he putting in the effort on a day like this during preseason.

Keep an eye on Jack Payne (BL) 117k def on 45 at half and also follow James Rose (syd) 127k FWD. 34 points at half but only 47% tog. Played only 1 game in 2017 but has played 7 games of AFL over 3 years avg 60 in 5 games during 2016

    1. Martin has also been given 4 free kicks and so that has increased his possessions against low level rucks.

Sinclair also down with an injured ankle after rolling it

      1. Long odds to play in round one though. Good player, bit surprised he didn’t come up in trade discussions in the off-season

      2. After saying that about Payne, it looks like he is spending the 2nd half on the bench
James Rose did nothing that quarter which is disappointing.

I noticed that with Fox on how he was scoring well but it is a shame that played a few games last year as he would have been a great pick if he could fit into the team

    1. I think that puts a line through Christensen with a full stop. Rich also.

If they can’t score well enough with beams and zorko out, when will they?

What happened with Heeney? Just out there for the run?

      1. Don’t think you should be putting any lines with full stops through anyone after JLT1.
They’re playing short games with a lot of experimentation – scores will rarely be indicative of round one scores with exceptions for players in new roles.

      2. Christensen went at 43% efficiency with 70% tog so im happy with his output considering he had that effieciency. He can clearly move the ball better than that i feel this is just blowing out the cobwebs

          1. If I could find enough rookies that could score well enough and cement a spot I’d take them but it is looking slim so I feel he is the next best thing

          2. He’s in my team unless a decent rookie pops up. Not ideal but I’d prefer to have him than a rookie who scores 30 and gets dropped

      3. Heeney – 42% efficiency and 5 clangers. In racing parlance “he’ll be better for the run”.
Apart from Martin the Lions were pretty ordinary. I don’t think we can take too much from this game.

  4. Callum Sinclair went down with an ankle injury, didn’t look great. May help Darcy Cameron’s prospects.

  5. Tom Papley- expected to play more mid this year, didn’t watch the game but can anyone confirm if this is true/ contributed to why he finished with such a good score and if could see a potential breakout this year??

    1. Only had 14 touches, played a high half-forward role
Can’t see him breaking into the mid with any consistency seeing as Heeney is almost set to move in there full time. He’ll catch some people out before Hannebery returns, but could be worth the punt with the weak forward class this year
