2UP: MAR 1

Written by Schwarzwalder on March 5 2018

If you can’t seperate two players then this is the thread you are looking for.   Using the Thumbs UP/DOWN function, the SCT Coaches will do their best to steer you in the right direction.  Perhaps its a combination of players that is keeping you up late at night?  Just type their names into the comments and the SCT Coaches will do the rest………….

  1. I dont know if this would be the right place to post this but i need a defender and i really dont know who to put in, i can have any defender thats able to be picked and the defenders i have right now are Laird, Hibberd, Shaw and sicily.

    1. Does that mean you’re planning on going deep with 5 premiums in DEF? That may be a bit excessive. I’d suggest putting Sicily in your FWD line if you want to add another DEF. 4 DEF premiums seems sufficient.

      1. yes sorry i didn’t explain it right, Sicily is in my forward line but i was mentioning him so no one suggested him.

    1. In either case, that’s going VERY deep in your MID line, having either of these guys at M7.

At Redden’s price, you’d probably expect to see him around M5-M6, as if you’re picking him, you’re doing so expecting him to be a keeper.

At Armitage’s price, he could potentially be a stepping-stone, but even then, I’d expect to see him around M6.

      Going this deep to M7:
      – Limits the amount of rookies you can get for the MID line, and
      – Limits the number of premium upgrades you can get for the MID line

        1. Theres going to be some pretty wide variance in Sicilys scoring i think, Blues proved last year that if you can get under his skin he cant handle it. That being said Id still pick Sicily but perhaps look at using an emergency loophole on him wherever possible.

  2. This may seem silly to some, but I have had Josh Dunkley on my watch list from the start, but put Christensen in at F4 to keep some cash. What’s your thoughts?

TU Christensen and keep the cash for later
TD Dunkley, it’s only 30k and there could be some good POD upside

  3. I currently have enough money for both so the left over money would be waiting for a first upgrade:

    T/U: Kruezer

T/D: One of Jacobs, Grundy, Stef Martin, Goldy

Also feel free to comment who you would choose out of those 4 rucks if you hit T/D.

    Cheers

  4. Im pretty happy with how my team looks but I’ve only got $300 in the bank, is this leaving myself open for disaster?

    TU: You’ll be right
    TD: Need more cash

    1. I think it’s always a risk to go in with basically ZERO dollars in the bank (as you have no contingency for any emergencies / early season issues).

Just as it’s equally risky leaving a significant amount in the bank for backup (as you’re effectively missing out on enough points on-field).

From my experience, I think ideally you want somewhere between $50k and $100k in the bank at R1, so I would recommend finding a way of getting some cash back WITHOUT screwing up your team structure. This could be in the form of:
      – Downgrading an expensive premium to a slightly cheaper one
      – Downgrading an expensive rookie to a cheaper one

    1. Polling 101: NEVER sway the voters with your own opinion (you’ll never get a true result).

But, yes, down surely (he he).

    1. Christensen is definitely a risk, but there’s not much evidence to suggest that Rayner will be an effective cash cow this year, so Christensen would be the ‘least-worst’ option of the two.

  5. Ignoring his price and potential average for a moment, how do people rate Lycett’s job security?

TU: Barring injury/suspension, he will play most, if not all, weeks.
TD: Will be in and out of the side.

  6. Hi. I currently have J. Sicily 402k in my back line (D3) as I feel this is the best spot for him as I feel there are more options in the fwd line and therefore less choice down back. Am I over thinking it? maybe. Any thoughts…..cheers

    TU Keep him back
    TD Move him fwd

    1. Whichever best suits your structure. I’ve currently got him sitting at F4, occasionally becoming F3, or D3, depending on how the rookies are panning out. At this stage, it looks like the DEF rookies will be a bit more secure, so he’ll stay in my FWD line for the time being.

  7. Jack Martin ave 97 rounds 14 to 22 last year, thoughts on him being a top 10 ave forward at years end?
    T/U = top 10
T/D = take him off the watch list

    1. There’s still a massive gap between his best and worst games. If you’re really keen, you’ll definitely be able to pick him up for a discounted price at some stage during the season.

    1. Option 1.

Simply put, O’Meara or Armitage, at their low price, have a better chance of being ‘cash cows’ than Coniglio does of being a keeper (Top 10-15 MID).

If you’re picking Coniglio, you’re assuming he’s a keeper. You’re not likely to want to keep O’Meara or Armitage.

  8. Firstly I would like to say thanks for this site as it is the Bomb! All your input is fantastic!

    TU: Martin + Coniglio 1,108K
    TD: Oliver + Cripps 1,150K

    Thanks

    1. Definitely the 2nd option. Oliver definitely likely to remain a solid contender for Top 10-15 MIDS, and Cripps much more likely to get to this same range than Coniglio.

  9. Is Simpson, lycett and Cameron now a viable strategy?
TU:yep, viable not great. The money put elsewhere helps negate not having gawn.
    TD:no, way too much trouble.

  10. TU : 5 uber premiums & 3 rookies brodie, brayshaw and banfield

TD: 5 premiums, coniglio & brayshaw + banfield

        1. Danger is a must as he guarantees you 120-130 every week. Don’t like Armitage i think theirs more value in Brayshaw and Dow for cash generation. Cog should be a lock at that price 105-110 average for 450k is a bargain

          2

    1. Or do I potentially drop down to someone like
      up Dow
      Down LDU

Instead and I can then upgrade lycett out of my ruck 2 spot

  11. With west coast current midfield situation.
Could mark Hutchinson be a break out contender?
    TU:it’s a possibility.
    TD:no, no chance at all.

    1. Skills let him down badly but don’t be surprised if he kicks a few small bags as he is back to good fitness levels and has bulked up to play 3rd tall I think.

  12. Already have 6 big mids and brayshaw.

tu – kreuzer, banfield (on bench). barry OR kelly on field
td – jacobs, dow or LDU?….barry AND kelly on bench
