2UP: MAR 5

Written by Schwarzwalder on March 19 2018

Under 100 hours to go before the first bounce and we’re still agonising over our starting line-ups.

You know the routine by now……If there are two players you can’t seperate (or a combination of players), type them into the Comments below. The SCT Coaches will use the Thumbs UP/DOWN Function to help you out……..

    1. Tu: zorko for above
      Td: neale for above

Have fyfe and walters up forward

Comment below if any other thoughts like crouch or zerrit? ๐Ÿ™‚

      1. So was able to get kelly in to join dusty titch fyfe cripps in the mid. Now battling on if danger is worth losing billings up forward. My other fwds are buddy walters smith sicily (on loan from def via keefe) and fistch. So i guess question is:

        Tu: danger and christersen (f5)
        Td: cogs and billings

Backs are laid and savage then the rookies.

        1. Ok based off that one plan is:

Let cog go up 100k (fingers crossed), cull 2 early ripe rookies around round 7 (fingers crossed they can ripen that fast) and go up to danger.

Father i hope your math is holly.

          1. His output when Sydney got better and the ball spent less time in their D50 should also concern everyone picking him.

  1. UP Select a loophole option now for the session.
DN Do not worry about the loop, it will work itself through injuries, etc

  2. Got spare cash…

TU: Upgrade Nank to Ryder/Kreuzer and Petracca to a Heeney
TD: Brayshaw (Melb) to a Laird
Comment: Save cash to upgrade to Danger (assuming he misses rd.1)

    3

    31
  3. Need a R2

    TU: Ryder
    TD: Jacobs

    Comment: Someone else

Also what do people think about having Lycett or Dawson Simpson at R2 to trade up later?

    1. you will highly likely get burnt becuase if they get injured you have buried your self in a hole having to downgrade someone to have cash to upgrade and wasting a trade

  4. I really have my heart set on rocky this year(fully aware of issues) But in the almost eleventh hour im getting cold feet.
TU: just go for it no risk no reward
    TD: too bigger risk..

  5. Is it ok to have only 2 premium defenders and 4 rookies on the field
I have done this so I could swing Sicily forward and have better defensive rookies on field and only Fritsch (fogarty?) on the field

    TU- Yes it’s fine
    TD- No

    1. yeap im thinking to do this as well!
im swapping sicily with keeffe to have sicily in fwd line!
leaves me with 2 def premiums and 4 fwd premos (only 2 rookie fwds on field)

      1. I honestly don’t see the problem,
Sicily is still on the field
a poor scoring fwd rook is now on the bench
and a higher scoring defending rook is now on the field

  6. Thoughts on the better combo

    TU Simpson (D3), Smith (F4), L.Murphy (D8)
    TD Lloyd (D3), Sicily (F4), Coffield (D4)

    4

    12
    1. Have revised the above thoughts on these teams?

      TU Lloyd, Smith, S.Martin, L.Murphy
      TD Simpson, Sicily, Jacobs, Coffield

      11

      3
  7. Is Cripps honestly a must have, I’ve just gone with the hype and he’s been in my team the whole year but now I’m second guessing. Coniglio will hopefully average close to him and I need the cash to improve my team vastly overall
My defense currently by the way has Laird, Touhy, Naughton at D1,2,3 and I want a Bonner esc player their so finally

    T/U: Coniglio, Bonner, Danger
    T/D: Cripps, Keeffe, Danger

    11

    14
  8. Currently have Parker at M4 I have 70k left should I keep Parker or go for Merrett, Crouch or Zorko running 5 premium Midfield.

    Tu: Keep Parker and cash.
    Td:One of the above.

    15

  9. I estimate Armitage will increase between $150k – $180k so he will generate money of cow like proportions but he should score better than a cow. On the other hand I think Oliver only has upside, however I cannot afford both. What do fellow coaches consider the best combination:

    TU Oliver & Brodie/T Kelly
    TD Parker & Armitage

    5

    14
      1. Given his history I’m honestly just not a fan and reckon he’s a trap but I understand why others would pick him

        0

        0
  10. I know neither of them are on most people’s radars, but if you had to pick one…

    TU: Brandon Ellis
    TD: Jeremy McGovern

    10

    5
  11. TU: Stef Martin + Kelly/Banfield(M7 &8) Holman, Barry and Gartlett -DPP link on bench

TD: Nank + Brodie/Kelly(M7&8) Banfield, Holman, Barry bench

  12. Just a quick query if Lobb is named round 1 and Dawson isn’t.

    T/U – McGovern D3, Lobb F6, $59k

    T/D – Howe D3, Christensen F6, $188k

    4

    8
    1. McGovern and Howe should score close enough to one another, so it really comes down to the forwards.

Lobb average 100+ when playing as the no. 1 ruck; why more people aren’t starting him is beyond me. Christensen will be lucky to average 80, and his body will probably fall apart fairly quickly.

      Pick Lobb.

    1. TU this for ZGL.

Reasoning for any of them would be appreciated. I really have no idea who to take but have to take 1.

  13. TU Start with Danger and hope he pulls up on Sunday
TD Play it safe and start with Dusty making Danger my first upgrade target

    1. Price is a bitch.

I love the X docker. JS looks solid.

If he was $250K I would consider him.

At $340 he needs to ave 65+ not loose money.

There is just not enough upside for me.

    1. Fletcher.

Ryans scores may be affected by N Wilson and A Pearce up and running.

I”m bullish about McGrath improving 15+ points per round this year.

      1. Would u take McGrath over marchbank at same price? McGrath gettin midfield times does firm me up in the jocks

  14. not sure where to ask this but thoughts are much appreciated –
what to do if coffield isnt named? pls comment.
take o’shea if he’s named – lacks good job security thought.
tu – mark o’connor if named
td – only other option cam o’shea (i think)

current defenders (rookies) – naughton, coffield, doedee murray, finlayson, keeffe

    3

    0
    1. I think you can cross Coffield, O’Shea and Murray off the list, none of them were announced as debuting this round. I highly doubt both Finlayson and Keeffe will get named, it looks like there’s room for only 1 of them. I’d take O’Connor if he gets named, maybe either look at restructuring to take 1 less def rookie or grab one of the more expensive ones if named e.g Ellis, Byrne.

  15. is friday night a rolling lockout where you can make unlimited trades to team? obviously excluding carlton and richmond players

  16. Budddy had a red hot JLT. And will win the Coleman. He worth his price tag? Sure he will drop in price but probably not till after the byes .

    TU start him
    TD pass thanks

    6

    2
  17. I’m starting him.

Only forward, other than R Gray to get to $600K+ before.

He has a HUGE ceiling , and offers V/C options.

    Lock F1.

    2

    0
    1. I’m not sure I can ever entirely trust Chris Scott (or either Scott twin, for that matter), but if the JLT is anything to go by, O’Connor’s output should be good while it lasts.

  18. Just a thought….& thatโ€™s what these threads are about.
Thinking of having English as Ruck emergency, but not having a ruck cover in fwd line yet!
The ruck cover might come later if needed or someone jumps out of the pack. (ie due to injuries.)
I wonโ€™t go into my full reasoning, so youโ€™ll have to work that out for yourself.

TU – Sounds like a reasonable plan.
TD – youโ€™re overthinking this, do the Olango or Cameron thing like most coaches.

    2

    1
  19. If Nic Nat plays more as a rover, and Lycett does most of the ruck work, who will score better while this arrangement lasts?

    TU: Naitanui
    TD: Lycett

  20. Currently have a 3-5-2-4 structure, as it mostly already known that the fwd rookies are sub-par and the defenders and midfield rookies are the better cash cows. One new thought that has come to mind was to have only Hibberd, Laird down back dropping Savage to a rookie and getting a cheap prem midfielder (470k) from a rookie. I feel having Coniglio is better than having Savage but only two prem defenders might be more challenging for future upgrades.

TU: Have two prem defenders and have Coniglio (M6) and Coffield (D3)
TD: Keep same structure with Savage (D3) and Barry (M8)

    4
    1. First up, it now appears that the glut of rookies now lies in the MID section.
Of the prospective DEF rookies: O’Shea, Coffield and Murphy have NOT been selected for RD1.
If anything, it may therefore make more sense to consider a 3-4-2-5 structure at this stage. If you can squeeze it to 3-5-2-5, all the better.
      Good luck

      1

      0
      1. I’ve been running the 3-4-2-5 with Christensen at F6 and I think it just makes the team so much better. The extra mid rookie would score 10-30 points more than the forward rookie while the extra forward premo will score 10-30 points less than the mid premo you’ve lost which means you come out pretty much even in points but you also have greater cash generation due to the mid rookie likely to be scoring fairl high (depending on who it is).

        1

        0
  21. With lack of scoring forward rookies, what is the better structure>
    TU: Petracca(F5) Fritsch(F6), Brodie(M6)
    TD: Garlett(F5)Fritsch(F6) Coniglio(M6)+50K

    7

    6
    1. Garlett slightly better JS. I feel Langdon, if selected, will probably score higher.
      Well that helps!!
      Good luck ๐Ÿ˜‰

      1

      0
      1. haha they seem to like Garlett down at Carlton which contradicts everything I’ve read about him in the prospectus (he’s kind ofportrayed as Pickett 2.0) but Langdon should also have decent JS given they’ve got him to specifically put pressure on the opposition (Butler 2.0. ? ๐Ÿ˜‰ )

        0

        0
        1. When I watched Garlett in person in JLT1, he looked really good. Pickett looked good, too โ€“ he has definitely improved over the off-season โ€“ but they did not look that similar in terms of the way they played.

  22. tu – cripps and keeffe. keeffe probably wont be picked.
td – brodie and greene. all rookies playing rd 1.

both teams have oconnor in defence which is a risk as well.

Does everyone like option A or B better?

  24. Greene worth the risk?
Very cushy draw early and rd 13 bye.
Buddy heeney Walters & billings all rd 14.

TU: pick him his a gun
TD: no way he will snot someone and miss weeks
