Birchall?

Written by Big Sexy on May 22 2013

I was thinking last week I’d be putting up Birch in very different context.  In fact, so much so, I was going to give a doughnut last week and opted to bring him in a week early (great move that was).  Birchall started the season on fire with scores of 122, 126, 110, 152 and has since rolled out 80, 59, 74, 30 (the 30 coming the week after I traded him in).  He is currently $436k and has a BE of 157.  Where do you sit with Birchall?

Sorry, there are no polls available at the moment.

  1. I got Byarchall in to early to replace another problem beardo in Watts.
Was over the moon for a few rounds but his scores and value have suffered recently
I,ll be holding him as a keeper (so the money lost irrelavent) and hoping he learns to deal with the tag and gets back into some form as he is a proven player previously.
The lesson learnt for next year will be “beware the early flier.” They attract too much attention and inevitably start getting tagged.

  2. My single most disappointing trade for the year.Premo’s just don’t score 30 points against a side like GWS ! I hope he can turn it around.

  3. First name into my team once he has had his bye. If 380K he will be a huge bargain & good upgrade from rookie defenders.

  4. had birch from the beginning- i’m really hoping teams start to leave him alone now they realise stopping him hasn’t stopped the hawks from winning, and he returns to the scores we know he can get.

  5. Need another vote option saying ‘had him since the start, did a jig. Now own a voodoo doll with a little Grant face.

  6. Why tag Birchall anyway, the hawks are still winning? I’ve had him from the get-go and reckon he’ll come good and start pumping out massive 100’s again, he’s a keeper 😉

  7. I brought Birchall in last week as well to shore up my backline with Gibbs/Heater out. Was between Birchall and Hanley and went with the Hawk because I was going to need the extra $30,000 to get Watson this week.

That 30 has stung big time though, and a big reason for a poor score last weekend. But you’ve got to stick with him so his price nosedive is largely irrelevant for me. He’ll come good again.

  8. In his defence, I think the 30 against GWS was more a result of the giants inability to get it into their forwardline!

  9. Honestly, Birchall early on was priority #1 as an upgrade, but those last 4 scores are woeful. Im not going to get him purely because he is cheap if he gives me either an 80, 59, 74, or a 30, thats an average of 60.75 over last 4 games.

Priced at under 400k would be tempting, but based on recent averages, im getting more value out of everyone else in my backline.

  10. Would love to see a similar poll on Franklin, still torn if its worth getting him in? Could be great POD not having him.

  12. What if you already have birchall? I was thinking about trading Birchall out and bringing in a proven premium midfielder. Then after the Round 11 upgrade a rookie to Birchall if he looks decent?
