Breaking Even – Rd4

Written by Schwarzwalder on April 9 2018

A popular feature at SCT, we’ve shortlisted the most SC-relevant players for you as a handy guide (mainly those owned by 5% of teams or more, with a few exceptions).

For the Supercoach newbies out there, the Breakeven is the score needed by each player to hold his price.  If they score above that Breakeven value, their $$ value will rise.  If they score below that Breakeven point, they will lose value.  Sorry if I’ve overlooked something.  Be sure to let me know in the Comments below and I’ll update it as soon as I can.  If you have any questions about Breakevens, don’t hesitate to ask in the Forum and I’m sure our friendly SCT Community will help out.

  1. Kelly, Zerrett and Billings sitting in my side. Bad premo choices this year. Considering sticking it out long term with the midfielders only 20k in the bank.

    TU: Hold All
    TD: Trade Billings for Walters

    1. Yep horrendous choices. Jelly averaging 105 (9 less than you paid for) and Billings averaging 88 (4 less than you paid for) is sh*t after 3 whole rounds in a 23 round season. Also can’t believe you didn’t predict Merrett getting concussed you idiot!!! /s

      Seriously, why are people so bloody worried about their premiums! They’ll come good barring injuries or major role changes. Out of those 3 I see no changes in position, and Merrett should improve if he doesn’t get tagged and continues to recover from concussion. One thing people need to learn is the concept of sunk cost. The poor scores are gonna be included in your team’s score from last week whether you trade them out or not! Sideways trading will rarely be anything other than a waste of a trade. Maybe from this point out Walters averages 95 and Billings averages 92 (same as last year). 20×3=60 points total. Not worth a trade. And that’s assuming that those averages happen (it’s unlikely given Walters’ penchant for dropping turds). So people asking should they trade out their premiums, it’s clearly not worth it, unless you’re comfortable leaving mid-pricers and rookies on field all year, because you’ll run out of trades.

      1. From experience, this is probably true around 90 percent of the time. The remaining 10 percent of cases can pay off big-time, however.

        The trick is to be able to recognize which is which.

    1. Pretty sure it’s something like -$500 per point scored under the BE.

      So if his BE is 216, a score of 150 which is 66 under is BE will mean he will drop approximately 35K.

      150 = 715k (drop of 35k)
      140 = 712k
      130 = 707k
      120 = 700k
      110 = 695k
      100 =690k
      90 = 687k

      Let’s assume Danger won’t go under 90 and keep in mind this is a guideline. Also if Danger drops a 100 a drops to 690k his BE will be even higher next round as his 130 drops out.

    2. As a guide Dangerfield will drop $42,000, $36,000 and $17,000 approximately if he scores 120 in each of rounds 4, 5, & 6 being around the $653,000 as at round 7. Scoring 130 in those games he will lose $38,000, $28,ooo and $7,000 approximately being around $676,000 mark.
      Just got to let him ride for one more game before deciding whether to grab or wait another week(s.)

      1. The worse thing that has happened in my ‘Get Danger plan’ was Ablett going down. I’m sure normal transmission will resume now that will see Danger ave about 160 over the next 4-5 weeks . Good news for Danger owners bad news for the rest of us.
