Andrews emerged as one of the premier key position SC defenders after Rd4 recording an average of 92.47 from 15 games which included an injury affected 22 in RD14 against the Giants when he suffered a concussion and bleeding on the brain. Only 3 games below 80 during that period which all occurred in a 3-game period which included his injury game and then the first 2 games back.

With the arrival of M Adams, it could allow Andrews to potentially be used more as an intercept defender or allow him to take a lesser forward thus garnering him more disposals, marks, etc. Assuming he continues to make an improvement to his 2018 season he should hover around the 92-100 range.

Verdict: Strongly consider for D1-D3/Upgrade target

  1. Good write up again Adam, it’s a tricky one this with the two Brisbane defenders – Andrews and Witherden, not much difference in price, but who is going to get that intercept/rebounding role that maybe elevates them into the premo range? Both are good re my byes as have Sicily Whitfield as D1 D2, looking for the D3 who is cheaper/good value to put the money towards the two big ruckmen…..argh SuperCoach!!

    1. I think Andrews will be the safer pick due to less of a dependence on disposals in comparison to Witherden and the amount of 1% percenters, marks, disposals, etc Andrews amasses helps to lower his floor thus providing more consistency making it more probable that he elevates his average compared to Witherden.

I really want to select him as I did last season but he only lasted 1/2 a quarter (due to his injury) and I would love to give him another go but he is vying with L Ryan and R Laird for 1 or 2 more spots in the defence joining the Giants duo of L Whitfield and Z Williams.

      1. Thanks Adam, I’ll be giving it plenty of thought, the info re Andrews only having 3 games under 80, basically all due to him being cleaned up v Giants, shows how consistent he is.
Appreciate all the effort you guys put into this site, brilliant mate.

  2. If it wasn’t for one J Lloyd, Andrews would start D2. Post bye upgrade. Another Great review, keep them coming.

  3. Wow…… first up this is an exceptional SC site with honest indepth write ups! Think the focus on defenders this year will be prominently with the guys that kick out easily possible to see +10 points per game due to the new rules, hence i dont think many would start Andrews even though he should avg more than his price suggests….would be an intersting pod, definetly worth considering

  4. Read today that Fagan sat him down and suggested he start marking more than spoiling. If that comes in to his game, expect a lot more points.
