Game Chat – Brisbane vs Sydney

Written by Thommo on March 20 2021

Where and when: GABBA at 7:45pm (AEST)

Last time they met: R17, 2020: Brisbane 11.7 (73) def Sydney 6.5 (41) at Cazaly Stadium.

Brisbane were in control for much of the match but never really put Sydney away, with the Swans edging within 2 points after kicking the first two goals of the final quarter. Despite Neale being tagged and held to just 15 disposals by Ryan Clarke, the Lions steadied with six of the next seven goals to run out comfortable victors and lock in a top 2 position.

Match Preview: This is a case of a very experienced, gun team lining up against a developing team so this match should really end in a comfortable win for the Lions. While the Swans held the Lions last time out for three quarters, they’ll be hard-pressed to repeat that effort at the GABBA. All eyes will be on Daniher debuting for his new team – against the team he was initially meant to be traded to.

Awkward!

Thommo Watch:

Brisbane

Gee I’ve spent some time playing: Will I? Won’t I with Lachie Neale. At the time I wrote this he was in my team but I am a bit worried the Swans will tag him again. Decisions, decisions!

As mentioned above, Daniher will also receive a lot of attention as will rookies, Fullarton and Sharp.

Sydney

Sydney is rookie central in 2021! Who ever thought Horse would look after the Supercoaches after some of his dismal behaviour in the past? With Chad Warner, Braeden Campbell, Errol Gulden and Logan McDonald all playing, the only choice is which rookies we should select. Oh, and obviously there is that small choice of whether to pay up for Jake Lloyd…

Thommo’s Tip: Brisbane by 42 points.

  1. Not sure who, if anyone, out of Sharp and Highmore to take off field for Butts (53 at 3QT).

    Any ideas?
