Where and When: Metricon Stadium, Sunday 13 September at 1:05pm AEST
Last time they met: Rd 19, 2019: Carlton 13.9 (87) def Adelaide 9.6 (60) at Marvel Stadium.
Match Preview: It shocked me last week that the Blues can still make the top 8! Despite almost throwing the match against the Swans, they eventually prevailed (just) and are only one match and percentage out of finals. A few weeks ago, a match against the Crows was a chance to boost percentage but unfortunately for the Blues, that no longer seems the case.
The Blues will need to play better than last week if they want to defeat the Crows that is boasting a resurgent midfield of Sloane, Laird and the Croach brothers.
Supercoach Watch: Carlton: All the talk is about Sam Walsh who reminded many people how good he really is. Many teams also have Docherty, Martin and Cripps but they are not quite as popular as they once were, especially with whispers that Doc is carrying an injury.
Adelaide: I don’t know about you, but I am loving owning Rory Laird late in the season. I do have some Matthew Crouch envy as he has been smashing it. A few bargain hunters may also have the wrong Crouch or Rory Sloane.
Thommo Watch: Pre-match, I am worried that Doc will miss this match. Once the ball is bounced I’ll be cheering on Crippa who looks to be playing sore.
Thommo’s Tip: Blues by 6 points.

No late changes to either team. #AFLBluesCrows
Never been so disappointed to have a premium player not be a late out
Sad Docherty not late out
TU Take Watson’s 90
TD Go with Docherty
jesus christ on a bike – has carlton even turned up?
Doc down in the rooms, pointing to his calf.
Docherty has gone up the race with the doctor.
should never have played … forget our SC teams… he’s done a disservice to his own side carrying a known difficult injury to overcome … was odds on that he would break down and they would be a player short
Docherty done for the day.
Docherty ruled out for rest of game
Doc officially done for the day they just said … with Rivers laughing at my team from the bench
At least I got rivers score, except I chose to bench Day instead of Doch or noble.ffs!!!!!
Docherty out for game
Kidding me…. should not of played
Well at least one of my trades this week seems to have worked out.
Traded out Devon Smith yesterday to see him put out his best score of the season. But also traded out Doherty for Lloyd today. Also had Rivers sitting on the pine with no way to bench Doherty. You win some you lose some!
Docherty serving me up a fat 10 with Sholl playing the game of his life on my bench with the E on him…
Same
Sorry, but Carlton deserve everything they get (or don’t) get today. Play a bloke who’s been out for 2 years off a short turnaround.
Well Adelaide is bring their A game where Carlton is getting out played!
Went with the advice and took Watson’s 90 over Docherty. Thanks community. Now looking good over opponents. Vodka time.
I went with the advice and benched Day instead of Docherty to get Rivers. Now watch Day go nuts!!!!
Would be furious if I was a Carlton supporter. What a selfish decision from Doc to put his hand up to play.
made the right call to bench doc
So my last ditch effort of bringing in brad crouch for Schoenberg seems to be failing spectacularly!
First big balls call of the year has gone right for me. Had a bad feeling about docherty calf so benched him for rivers!
Any chance Ruscoe plays tomorrow night
Gibbs could play for another year but Adelaide did him dirty imo
How did I not hear about the Docherty rumour during the week? There should definitely be a pinned article each week with injury rumours so we can keep up to date (this season in particular)…
there was i saw it on heraldsun and sport journalist tweeted it out
I know it was, but I missed it. Info like that should be made readily available and not have to dig around for it. Had a spare trade I could have used to trade to Laird if I knew he was under a cloud
It’s certainly something we can look in to. We’ll need to be careful to make it absolutely clear that they’re all just rumours until we hear otherwise, though.
An excellent day so far…
• Lose to the bottom side
• Finals hopes officially extinguished
• Have Docherty on-field
• Have Sholl selected as emergency
Still, at least it was nice to see the boys chair Gibbs off at the end.
On a brighter note, a big congratulations and thank you to both Gibbs and Kreuzer for two wonderful careers in the navy blue. I’m sure I speak for Carlton fans everywhere when I wish them all the very best for life after football.
