Game notes: The Magpies’ season is still alive – in that it’s still mathematically possible for them to make the finals – but it is expected to die a quick death against League leader Adelaide at the MCG on Sunday. After being two men down and coming from 24 points down in the last quarter against the Eagles to win by eight points, the Pies have won two in a row and require another five successive victories to press for September. They’ll need the Crows – who sit a game-and-a-half clear atop the AFL ladder – to be well below their best in the visitors’ third and final clash on the hallowed turf before the finals. Goalsneak Eddie Betts is sidelined for the first time as a Crow after having his appendix removed, but the Crows boast a massive arsenal and should have little trouble replacing the little champ.

Hutta’s Tip: Adelaide by 30 points

  2. Good to see Paul Seedsman back against his old club.

I thought he was on the cusp of SC relevance before his injuries.

Be interesting to see how he goes the next few weeks.

  3. I’m bloody torn here… I’m loving watching Maynard and the PIES smash the CROWS, but I’m worried that we might re sign Buck’s because of this.

    1. I’ve watched the second half and I know there are a few Maynard fans, but I think he’s a bit of a spud. Lots of errors.

  4. I reckon maybe a draw was the best thing, cuz we didn’t loose, but we wont re sign Buck’s on the back of a draw.

We would’ve one if Mick was still coaching.

    1. Very disappointing. No way Pies should have allowed that first mark that led to McGoverns. I get Wells being recruited but can someone explain Mayne? ??

      1. I know! Well’s has been pretty good, but getting Mayne was stupid. If we hadn’t spent all that money on him, we could afford to pay legends like Maynard and Elliot heap’s more.
