Game Chat – Fremantle v St Kilda

Written by Motts on July 11 2020

Where and when: Saturday 12:35pm at Metricon Stadium.

Last time they met:

Sunday August 11, 2019

Fremantle 10.9 (69) def by St Kilda 10.12 (72) at Marvel.

What it means for Fremantle: The Dockers got Justin Longmuir’s first win on the board last week. They’ll be keen to add to his tally to put some distance between themselves and the Crows.

What it means for St Kilda: The Saints looked very good against a plucky Blues team last week. Currently 4th on the ladder, with 2nd having played 3rd on Thursday a strong win here could see them elevate to 3rd.

Mottsy Watch: Keen to see if Big Maxy King can back up his 86 last week. Also want to see a little more out of Hill who will be forgiven for first game jitters last week.

Mottsy’s Tip: Saints by 40.

        1. S Hill another option.

You pay a bit more at $210K (BE-4 ) but his JS is rock solid.

He has started well both games before fading. I will give him that after missing a heap of footy.
He comes with some injury risk but also with heathy scoring potential.

He plays his brother today.( that might just fire him up), before heading home, maybe for the year ?

I wouldn’t usually recommend a $200K+ player as a downgrade. If (like many) you are thinking of a double downgrade next week, he may just be worth the extra cash.

I can’t help think of our old mate today..

          Vale allsaints

I will always think of you whenever this fixture appears.

          Go Freo.

    1. Only been on the ground for 30% of the game after 5 minutes into the 2nd. Same as Young.
I really wonder what they have done to them and whether they are out for the day?

He is finally back out onto the field and he better stay out there as 30% TOG is unacceptable

      1. Serong’s PPM is awesome, but TOG has only be around 50%. Brought him in expecting extra minutes when Fyfe was out. Might be a new trend with Freo rookies. FUJL.

        1. Now that Young and Darcy are out for the day, he should hopefully get a lot more time to play

    1. Going great since quarter time. Squeezing another week out of him would make all the difference for next weeks trades.

    1. And then Darcy cops a head knock
From this it looks like Long is going to miss a week or 2

      1. yeah 🙁 He is off getting a concussion test.
Think the best game Darcy had played… young ruck on the up.

  1. For Long owners, he’ll clearly get multiple weeks for that hit. BUT, he should be 35ok+ so popping him down to Simpson next week to pocket 225k ish will be the silver lining!

    1. I was 100% trading in Steele if I didn’t have to trade in a defender to avoid a donut. Dodged a bullet for once!

  4. Serong doing real well with that quarter sitting on 66 points at 3qtr time. But seriously only 51% TOG with 2 players out for the day! I don’t even have him in my team but FUJL

  5. Not sure what to make of this for future games, but Fyfe has sat at FF for all the 2nd half. Halfway through the 4th he has had 3 possies and 2 goals the 2nd half.
Will this be more common or is it due to him coming back from his injury?

    1. Tough to know.
the talk over the off season was he’d leave the bash and crash to the younger guys.
first 4 games that wasn’t the case obviously.

Did the game he missed change the coaches mind?

My guess is with Darcy out, Lobb had to ruck more soo they needed a forward target.
I think he goes back in the middle next week as long as they can bring in a marking forward

    2. Would think he must be struggling with his hammy but playing through it, stayed at FF even when the saints charged in the last quarter.

Even when the ball was going forward to him he didn’t even lead just body on body work (which he’s very good at). Might take a week or two to fully get back to his dominance
