Game Chat – Freo v West Coast

Written by Motts on July 16 2017

Venue: Subiaco, 2.40PM AWST

R6, 2017, West Coast 16.7 (103) d Fremantle Dockers 9.8 (62) at Domain Stadium
R20, 2016, West Coast 17.8 (110) d Fremantle Dockers 9.10 (64) at Domain Stadium
R3, 2016, West Coast 12.20 (92) d Fremantle Dockers 8.11 (59) at Domain Stadium
R20, 2015, West Coast 15.14 (104) d Fremantle Dockers 11.14 (80) at Domain Stadium
R3, 2015, Fremantle Dockers 17.9 (111) d West Coast 12.9 (81) at Domain Stadium

Game Notes: The 46th and, almost certainly, final Western Derby at Domain Stadium, has plenty riding on it. The Eagles’ top-eight bid is on shaky ground after a deflating home loss to Port Adelaide – their third defeat in four games at their one-time fortress – and coach Adam Simpson is searching for answers to his side’s inconsistency. The return of injured spearhead Josh Kennedy, who has booted 13 goals in the past two derbies, can’t come soon enough. Fremantle’s young side is riding high after snapping a five-game losing streak in thrilling fashion against North Melbourne, with debutant Ryan Nyhuis booting four goals. Skipper Nat Fyfe is coming off his best game for the season and looks to have his explosive power back, and Freo’s midfield – even without Aaron Sandilands – could hold the key to the contest. The Eagles have won four consecutive derbies to lead the overall tally 25-20, but the Dockers will fancy their chances and can keep their slim finals hopes alive – and derail West Coast’s season – with victory on Sunday.

If we get anything like the highlights contained in this package, I’ll be happy.

Mottsy’s Tip: West Coast by 15.

While we do our best to update posts with end of quarter scores, we aren’t always online so if you have access to the scores and see they haven’t gone into the Comments section of this post, the Community would love it if you could help us out.

  1. With Yeo out, this becomes my third week of having a full team of premiums, just not having them all play in the one week and i have Parsons as cover…….. PARSONS

  2. Fremantle v West Coast at Domain Stadium, 2.40pm

    Fremantle: Nil
West Coast: Elliot Yeo replaced in selected side by Jack Redden

Fremantle: Griffin Logue, David Mundy, Nick Suban, Hayden Crozier
West Coast: Chris Masten, Jack Redden, Jamie Cripps, Jackson Nelson

  3. I knew this would happen. Swing Nank into the rucks to prevent Gawn’s 57 and then Yeo as a late out results in a donut on field not to mention a ton from Witherden stuck on my bench.

  4. I need something desperate with Yeo out, top 100 overall so going for points

TU Fyfe into JJK via Yeo (taking withers 110)(was going to get JJK anyways)

TD Hold trades, take Greenwoods 71 and roll the dice with Fyfe

    1. If you want more points then trading in JJK seems better as Fyfe would need to score 40 more than him to cover the amount of Witherden and Greenwood, but it depends on the trades.
You need to think in the last few games of the season who would score more total points, Losing 30 points in todays game could be easily made up next week.
So do you think you have a enough trades to still get you to the end of the season, if so i would say go the trade.

    1. Supercoach Gods just wanted to create some carnage, to make up for the good team selections 😉

Yeo was unable to overcome a minor leg injury sustained during the club’s 32-point loss to Port Adelaide and medical staff declared him unavailble to play this morning.

      1. This is yet more BS in the AFL. Why was he even named? Why couldn’t this advice be made earlier? If he was that bad, surely it wasn’t possible yet they are still allowed to name them then withdraw at last minute … just BS
