Game Chat – Geelong vs Carlton

Written by Thommo on June 20 2020

Where and when: Saturday 20th June at 7:40pm (AEST)

Last time they met: Rd 23, 2019: Geelong 19.15 (129) def Carlton 8.13 (61) at GMHBA

What it means for the Cats: As I am lucky enough to have a business that is busy, I currently have head office emails telling me to make hay while the sun shines. I hate that expression but it is apt to describe Geelong. They have a strong home ground advantage and a soft-ish draw so they need to rack up early wins.

What it means for the Blues: Let’s keep it simple: the Blues have to stop sucking at some stage. Honourable losses will not cut it for much longer!

Thommo’s Watch: What kind of dickhead gives Eddie a hard time? Let’s get behind Eddie and his big shorts.

Thommo’s Tip: Geelong by 30 points.

  2. Been a shocking week for footy and SC, but Carlton beating the Cats at home would definitely take the edge off.

I don’t even follow Carlton btw lol.

  3. Anyone else hearing that this is a “best 18” round for SC ? And if thats right, presumably it will include the Dons/Dees game whenever it is played. I have 7 players from that game…usual spread would suggest 2-4 at most.

    1. The best 18 scoring system used for the byes in past years will be adopted for this round and the Essendon-Melbourne match included in the round it is closest to.

Captains and vice-captains are still factored into scoring.

    1. Yep, great to both see the Blues win. It’s a weird stat, but the Cats lose just about every game the week after a Hawks match.
