Game Chat – Geelong vs Gold Coast

Written by Thommo on August 25 2018

WHERE AND WHEN: GMHBA Stadium, Saturday, August 25, 1.45pm AEST

SUMMARY
All eyes will be on Gary Ablett’s first game at GMHBA Stadium against the side he captained for six years as Geelong looks to book its passage to an 11th finals series in 12 years. Should Port Adelaide beat Essendon on Friday night, the Cats must defeat the Suns to play finals. Then if Melbourne loses to Greater Western Sydney on Sunday, the AFL.com.auladder predictor has an eight-goal Cats win pushing them above the Demons into seventh. Tom Hawkins needs four goals to draw level with Jack Riewoldt in the race for the Coleman which looms as a shootout across town. With 20 goals from his past three matches at home, Hawkins has a 25-minute head-start on Riewoldt’s Tigers, who meet the Bulldogs at the MCG. With one match remaining in Stuart Dew’s debut season, a number of Suns will be out to impress in order to earn fresh contracts.

LAST FIVE MEETINGS
R11, 2018: Geelong 17.19 (121) d Gold Coast 4.12 (36) at Metricon Stadium
R7, 2017: Gold Coast 18.16 (124) d Geelong 15.9 (99) at Metricon Stadium

  1. Buddy or McLean to Hawkins? Opponent 100 up with 4 unique players left (they have mclean also but no buddy)….i have 5 unique players left. Could eliminate buddy nerves by straight swap or hope for bud and hawk to do well?????

  3. Trading Walters to Hawkins to loop hole with TMac probably. Got one more trade left, thoughts on just holding it in case i need to take a risk by trading someone out, or if someone is a late out?

    1. I did too – last week, when he played in the forward line and received 94 points. Decided not to risk it again this week, he plays in the forward lineagain and goes gang busters – sigh…

      1. yep me too Lisa … same as you. BUT danger has killed me all year … I miss the VC / C on him when he goes well and cop him when he goes bad … no consistency in his role all year and I also started the year with him … bad decisions all around *sigh*

I just had to double up and do it again.

I had Grundy v my mob as back up. Glad I won’t have to barrack for the big fella too much.
