Game Chat – Gold Coast vs Carlton

Written by Thommo on April 10 2021

Where and when: Metricon Stadium, Saturday 10th April at 7:25pm (AEST)

Last time they met: Rd 13, 2020: Carlton 7.18 (60) def Gold Coast 4.3 (27) at TIO Stadium

As you can tell from the score, this was a flogging minus the straight kicking by Carlton. They controlled the game with Murphy, Cripps and Jack Martin winning plenty of the ball and were never headed by the Suns. To be fair to the Gold Coast, they had played through consecutive short breaks of 6, 5 then 4 days and were never switched on from the first bounce.

Match Preview: While the Blues and Suns are young teams, both teams now have enough experience that their fans are expecting improvement. A good way to show that improvement would be by defeating other teams outside the top eight. So here is their chance!

Gold Coast have the home ground advantage while the Blues showed an improved effort last week so neither team has any excuses here. This won’t be a pretty match but there’s sure to be plenty of intensity.

Thommo Watch:

Gold Coast

I don’t own any Suns since poor old Matty Rowell went down with injury again, so my interest in Gold Coast is more about the development in the young guns, my favourites being Lucosius and Anderson. I will keep an eye on the replacement ruck with Witts out for the season.

Carlton

I am a proud Sam Walsh owner and enjoy watching his explosive pace around the packs in 2021. The argument of who is better between Rosee and Walsh is swinging back his way at the moment!

Thommo’s Tip: Carlton by 12 points (This is getting embarrassing – record 3 from 9)

  1. With Kosch out should i take a risk and get a 0 or trade him out and risk Dow scoring a shit score and losing cash.

TU: Trade Kosch out for Chapman

TD: Take a zero in defense and buy Impey.

  4. I said Dow was gone this week, but guess who managed to hold himself in the team due to many other players out this week…..
Kosi now traded to avoid a defensive doughnut
