Game Chat – Richmond v Sydney

Written by Father Dougal on July 12 2020

Where and when: Sunday 12th July at 3:35pm (AEST) at the Gabba

Last time they met: Rd 5, 2019: Richmond 13.11(89) defeated Sydney  10.7 (67)

What it means for the Tigers: TA win could put them in 5th, tied with the Pies on points but behind on %. A loss, well, they can’t really afford to lose if they want to play finals. And they do.  Given how the Swan’s season is going so far, the Tigers have no excuse for a loss here. Ok, lots of people out, but even with that!

What it means for the Swans: A win puts them in the pack. The bottom of the pack, but being in the pack sure beats contending for the wooden spoon! Also, beating the reigning premiers would sure be good for their morale and belief.

Supercoach Watch:

Richmond: Aarts for many new owners. Dusty and Lynch for those who have held Them. Noah Balta of course, even though few will own him, because he’s sure fun to watch!

Sydney: Lloyd for a lot of people.  Parker, and maybe Kennedy for fewer people

Father Dougal’s Watch: Heeney! Could go big, could be another sad low score from a week of sad low scores.

Father Dougal’s Tip: Tigers by 20. There’s no reason not to go with the very obvious option here. At least it isn;t a sure thing, so hopes of a good match. Hopes.

  1. Final teams #AFLTigersSwans: Aliir Aliir will be replaced by Robbie Fox in the Swans side.

    Richmond: no changes.

  2. Pickett with a small bump to Heeney that got his jaw. Not much force and Heeney up with no issue.
Not sure if it will be assessed by the MRO but it does cause slight concern

  3. Ugh, Pickett. Why do you insist on being useless? I swear all I’ve seen him do is casually jog up and down the field. Gonna need him to click into gear in the 2nd.

        1. Me too GunBoat. Thinking I should have taken Budarick’s emergency score of 52 & benched Pickett

          1. Eh, I think our logic was sound: Pickett with a much higher ceiling, fighting for his spot, Swans struggling – expecting him to do okay.

That aside, since we’ve started talking shit he’s lifted to 36 lol. If he can beat Budarick, I’ll be happy.

            1. I played him ahead of Green for all the reasons above.
If he is selected next week, then he could have been “playing to instructions”, so let’s not “string ‘im up” yet.
If he’s dropped, then feel free to trade him repeatedly online until the first game Thursday.
              That’ll teach ‘im………..

  4. Short and Mills in a battle of the supercoach half backs. Thinking alot of people are watching them for D6

    1. Yep, been carefully watching Short and Vlastuin to see who benefits from Houli and Edwards gone.

      Your thoughts, Grant?

      1. Short doesn’t really have a defensive bone in his body and is an attacking player
Vlastuin sometimes gets asked to play different roles, lock down or interceptor.

I expect Short to ton up with out Houli in the side… question is how long does Houli stay out.

I’ve got my eye on Doedee for D6 cause I’m poor (I bought Lloyd and Haynes this week… might live to regret the outlay of cash)

          1. This game is a little weird,
is it the lack of Houli, or the fact the swans are playing an extra man back, so the half backs are having a field day.

  5. Heeney heading off the ground with an ankle injury, won’t be surprised if that means a couple of weeks
It isn’t seeming too bad, but that is the whole reason why I have stayed away from him

  6. Wow Mills….. very happy I decided to pick him up! 160 with scaling (250 points) still to come. Imagine what he wouldve scored if he didn’t have 0 in the first quarter!

  7. L.Parker and Dusty vs Lloyd and Aarts in main league (vs troo roo) . Lost that by about 20 pts , probably costs me league win. Cest la vie!
