Where and when: SCG, Saturday August 24, 1.45pm AEST
What it means for Sydney: The end of a golden era and celebration time. With 2012 premiership stars Heath Grundy and Nick Smith already retired, and Jarrad McVeigh and Kieren Jack to join them after the game, the clash is a chance for Swans fans to pay tribute to four club stalwarts. Lance Franklin’s 300th game makes it a party.
What it means for St Kilda: The Saints have played some good footy in recent weeks and another strong showing will send them in 2020 with plenty to work with. It’s also Brett Ratten’s last chance to show he can be the man to lead the club.
The stat: Franklin racked up 18 kicks and 12 marks the last time he played the Saints in round 12 last season. He could only manage 4.4 for the day, but the Swans smashed the home side at Marvel Stadium by 71 points.
The match-up: Luke Parker v Jack Steele
The former Giant will attempt to lock down on Sydney’s midfield star, and the two hard nuts will relish the chance to crack in against each other. Parker is the highest ranked Swan, while Steele is third highest for the Saints.
It’s a big week for: Lance Franklin.
One of the game’s greatest forwards has had some setbacks this season but Franklin will finally play his 300th match. With McVeigh and Jack farewelling the Bloods faithful a big crowd is expected, and who loves an occasion more that the superstar Swan?
Big call: Posted out of the goal square in the final term with the Swans trailing, McVeigh and Jack will both find the scoreboard to help the club to a memorable win.
Mottsy’s Tip: Sydney by 5

Gawn plays
Go Saints! Sorry I can’t be there 🙁
not going mate? Last game for year?? Family commitments??
PS you will also note Gawn has been named, so you are safe there!!
Probably the fact that it’s in Sydney.
oops Good grief … why on earth did I think this was in Melbourne! Thanks Sal!
I brought in Buddy as a Hail Mary…sorry as…looking for 10 sausages and 180pts.
Good luck in the Contributors League GF AllSaints!
is that you Chips? Small Victories? If so, best of luck mate. thinking it’s gonna be close after an ordinary afternoon from my usual (and not so usual) spuds 😉
Yep, that’s me. Glad I looped Heeney, but missed the VC on Grundy. It’s gonna be tight…
Awesome. Yeah well done on Heeney. Whitfield may go nuts, but I’ll take Reg’s score for sure.
Obviously a win would be nice, but am just amazed to have got this far to be honest.
Good luck
go buddy
Heeney still on 0
What’s going on, I’m at work?!?! 🙁
I see -1 WTF
At half-forward, but Sydney are making deep entries. Right over Heeney’s head.
Sigh.
Heeney joins Sicily on the Never Again List.
This is killing me……
We’re gonna need him to piece together an 80 point second half…
Hawkins won’t oursofre him lol. He’s in my field too. Old hawk. Satan is carving me up which is painful considering I’ve endured his ugliness all year.
He’s trying GB
Ugh. Best case scenario he finishes on 50 this quarter, then maybe junks his way to 80 in the last. Don’t see that happening though, have resigned myself to a 58.
At the moment 58 wil be ok
Lol.
Who else do you have here, Bomber? Anyone to offset Heeney’s f*ckery?
Na stuck with his score, opponent has Goldstein so kinda makes up for it, now Satan has gone to sleep after 60 to half time, aaaasrghhh!
What about you GB how is it looking
Gawn going huge…why did I think he was injured
Ooo, nice. Goldy will probably hand you the W, getting toweled.
Yeah, I’ve also got a stagnant Satan Oliver. Gawn, Lloyd and Marshall doin’ their thing but Cunnington’s score is really going to f*ck me. Tagged by Viney from outta nowhere, will be lucky to hit 50 fml.
I have 1 trade left Mundy will become Cameron I think,he is only 5 goals behind, should be worth a few more SC points I think??
GOldy magically has hit 60 points stop stop
What’s the go with Billings?
Parker and Lloyd killing me it seems. Big form turn around! This is the sort of thing that costs you a flag. I have Marshall anchored on 65. Come on lift Swans have no ruck!
“That’s called ruck craft, big boy”
– Max Gawn
@Bomber2018
The thread above is now too long, so it’s not letting my respond to you directly. But yeah, Mundy -> Cameron is solid. GWS gonna feed Cameron and smash the Suns, expecting a big haul.
na , camo’s outa form
V top or bottom teams has been crap for me lately
My other thought was m crouch to toranto?
Hmm. Taranto will pop off and the Dogs MIDs are hard to score against. Perhaps, Bomber.
It’s crouch or Mundy that’s my last two different players to competitor.
I have 1 trade and 46 grand .
He has no trades
On another note Gawns 200 would have been nice
Could go crouch to gaff
Taranto the safer bet. Up to you though.
