Game Chat – West Coast vs Essendon

Written by Thommo on May 29 2021

Where and when: Optus Stadium, Saturday 29 May at 7:40pm (AEST)

Last time they met: Round 15, 2020: West Coast 9.6 (60) def Essendon 6.9 (45) at the GABBA

Last five: West Coast 3 – Essendon 2 (but 5-1 in the West!)

Match Preview: The Eagles don’t receive much attention for a team playing without two excellent midfielders and sitting a single game behind third place. Optus Stadium remains a tough nut to crack for most visiting teams and the Bombers certainly don’t appear to be the team to cause an upset.

Essendon have a chance to break into the top 8 with a win and they are coming off a good win against North but, let’s face it, North aren’t the Eagles.

Expect West Coast to chalk up another simple victory and remain an outside chance of making a deep finals run.

Thommo Watch:

West Coast
Yeo is back! He is so great to watch when he is in full flight so let’s hope he gets through today unscathed.
Essendon
Merrett appears in many SC midfield but Darcy Parish is the talk of the town. Does anyone actually own him?
Thommo’s Tip: West Coast by 40 points (tipping record 16/30).
