Where and when: Marvel Stadium, Sunday, July 14, 3.20pm AEST
Last time they met: MCG, round 17, 2018: Melbourne 18.11 (119) defeated Western Bulldogs 10.9 (69)
What it means for Western Bulldogs: After knocking off the Cats, Luke Beveridge’s men sit at 7-8 and are still in striking distance of a finals spot. All this team needs is a sniff.
What it means for Melbourne: A chance to regain some respect. Sitting in 16th place, the Demons have won two out of their last three games and have a real shot at four points this week.
The stat: Aaron Naughton sits level with Richmond’s Tom Lynch in first place in the competition for contested marks. The young forward has taken 33 for the season so far.
The match-up: Clayton Oliver v Jack Macrae
The Official AFL Player Ratings have Oliver and Macrae sixth and 10th-ranked players in the competition this year. Could we see the two ball magnets go head-to-head at Marvel Stadium?
It’s a big week for: Christian Petracca
The young Demon has hit form, averaging 20 disposals and 1.5 goals per game across the last eight matches. With Tom McDonald set to miss the rest of the season, Petracca will have to produce more as marking target.
Father Dougal’s Tip: Bulldogs by 6 points.

Probably more appropriate than GWS v tiges thread.
Captain:
TU: Gawn (injury a worry?)
TD: macrae
Take Grundys 137 or C Gawn?
If you’re already winning your match-ups, stick with Grundy, otherwise you could roll the dice on Gawn.
Even if Gawn goes 160, you’re only 23 points better off than Grundy. However he could easily aggravate his ankle in the first quarter and you’ll be 100 points down.
Spot on Chips!
How many times people. A captain score is doubled… 23 points better is 46.
Do the math Troo Roo
137 X 2 = 274 + 160 = 434
160 X 2 = 320 + 137 = 457
That’s 23 pts difference!
Incorrect TrooRoo.
If a coach has both Grundy and Gawn and Gawn hypothetically scores 160 in comparison to Grundy’s 137 there is only a 23 point differential.
Grundy as C=137+137+160= 434
Gawn as C=160+160+137= 457
457-434=23
Quick math!
If you have both players in your team
Grundy 137×2 +Gawn 160 = 434 points
Gawn 160×2 +Grundy 137 = 457 points
+23 Points better off if Gawn scores 160
One time too many Roo….I have won lots of bets on your wrong assessment.
That math only works if you are comparing to a player you don’t have.
Who to captain:
TU: Macrae or Gawn (He’s playing the Dogs! but coming off injury and with Pruess)
TD: Neale (Likes playing Port)
Related to above….
Do Melbourne or Port play a tag? If so who’s in danger of receiving it?
Bont will get Harmes and Neale will get either Sutcliffe or Houston, maybe both.
Dunkley VS Dunkley
Got the V on Gawn and the C on Neale. Gawn has an hour to convince me.
Your hour is up. Which did you go?
Harmes tagging Hunter. Bont, MacRae and Dunkley run free!
Gawn 34 points in the first six minutes. On track for 500+ if he keeps this up!
M Gawn:
Hitouts: 12
Hitouts to Advantage: 5
Where do you find HO to A stats Ad?
Sometimes is displayed during the broadcast but post game/round they can be located on the AFL website.
OH NO! Here I was thinking I could use Hinge to take VC Gawn’s score but I’ve just realized he’s on the bench and I can’t use him. F*ck.
Looks like I’m going with C Neale.
Dunks as a pure mid in 2020 anyone? Will be around 600k.
Libber being out has helped the other dog midfielders.
Once English bulks up a bit, they’re midfield is going to be brutal.
700 at this rate!!!! 😉
What’s everyone on track for? I’m looking a 2650.
When you ask how everyone is going just to tell them you’re killing it…
Good sh*t though, TR. Nicely done.
You got me GD.
woah…
I’m more 2300-2400.
Was aiming to finish in the top 10% this year and i’m just hanging in there.

Opponent has T Greene 🙁
Only 8 points ahead with last uniques Oliver (me) vs Bont
brought in bont for kelly this week
figured it was a safe bet
with an av of 115 & a 3 Rd av of 128
watch him drop to an 80 pt average now
Naah Bonts is a burst player man, he’ll have 40 point qtr and ton up. I’ve had him for a few weeks now.
They’ll tag Dunks now and he’ll step up.
Dog’s midfield is like whack-a-mole, can’t shut them all out.
Love the analogy!
Damn spoke too soon
bont off with an ankle
ha ha ha
fk me
Bont rolled ankle by the looks of it, down to the rooms!
Guess who I brought in to replace Josh Kelly this week? 🙁
For once I ignored thumbs and held Kelly!
Greene and Dunks may just get me over the line Adam. By my current calculations, you’ll win by one point!!!
I’m not Adam, but good luck anyway. 😉
Gawn slowing down is making me hate myself a little less for butchering the VC/C on him.
i remember when this game was fun
“That’s ruck craft, big boy” – Gawn, 2019
Gunna call it now… Dunkley of the J variety to score 200 + and I don’t have him
Is Josh Dunkley magic?
might go with merrett next , seasons over anyway
sure hes weak as p….. & only scores 80’s against tough or top 8 teams
but at least his out side receiver game style stops him gett’n injured
& no one bothers tagg’n the wuss either
I brought Josh dunkley In when he was 450k in round 7. He had a highest score of 94. Huge punt, don’t think it’s paid off enough. Was expecting 150 average, 130 isn’t good enough….

I believe a year or two Kyle Dunkley will be like his brother just has to fit well with the team
Traded Josh Kelly to Bont.
Damn it.
Go captain Maxy 78 @ half time need to get somewhere near 140 please
Also what a half from J Dunks 110 half is huge probably should be on more. 21 disposals, 9 tackles, 9 score involvements & a goal. WOW
GD Captain off Neale now. Go boak
Sutcliffe hard tag
Gotta wonder about the competency of GWS fitness , medical & rehab staff
injuries have been their defining trait every year
no good hav’n the best kids if they cant get em all on the park together
wonder what the review of internal departments is like up there
Traded Kelly in for Bont was projected 2600+ =[
I know there are two Dunkleys out there, but it sounds like more. A whole lot more!
HE’S BACK OUT THERE!
YES!
wHAT is Josh Dunkley BE?
141.
He has beaten it already.
141
Dunkley could genuinely hit 200. He has been ultra impressive since moving back into the midfield.
Dunkley 200+ so i can beat my opponent
Currently at 170 just prior to 3/4 time huge quarter 16 disposals & 4 tackles
21 contested possessions & 7 clearances @ 3/4 time
Went for safety and took Goldy’s vc,Dunks c was the other option!

na , get bont to 100
dunks scored 8 pts in the last 8 mins
Biggest error this season was selecting Westhoff over Dunkley in RD8 and after today’s performance the differential will likely now be to the tune of 500+ points.
Also congrats to allsaints for the win against me in the SCT Contributors League.
His PODS today: T Greene, J Dunkley, S Lycett currently on 385 with a half and scaling to go.
My PODS today: H Andrews, R Gray, J Westhoff currently on 96 with the 2nd half to come.
Thanks Adam. After Friday night, figured I was done. As I said to Macca, it’s amazing what happens when you just walk away from it. A whole lot of luck that’s all.
Dunkley I’ll take, as I started him and held him, like Moore 🙁 but Greene was streaky to benefit from others’ misfortune. Namely Cogs and his owners.
Plenty to sort this week, as ever. Good luck mate.
