  1. Thanks for these stats all season Adam. They are really hard to find and will be handy when writing preseason articles for 2019.

    1. Thanks Thommo, it’s been my pleasure.

All the numbers I’ve provided regarding the hitout to advantage stats can be found on the AFL website under the AFL Stats Pro section.

Will be very intruiging to see what strategies are implemented next year with ruck selections (eg spending approx 1.4 on Gawn/Grundy, only selecting 1 of the aforementioned or trying to identify breakout/underpriced rucks).

Also what’s your thoughts on my inclusion of a comparison between their Hitout and Hitout to Advanatge rates this year compared to previous seasons in the Rd23 Hitouts to Advanatge article. Or do you think it should be a stand alone article provided in the 2019 pre season.

      1. You shouldn’t have told me where to find the stats – you’ve ruined the magic!

My early feel for 2019 is that coaches will load up on mids and rucks and cheap out up forward and down back. The only exception will be if a cheap ruck like Darcy becomes the #1 ruckman and we can start with one midprice ruck.

Mate, I’d love to read a comparison between HOs and HO to Adv in 2018 compared with past seasons but I would suggest running it in the 2019 preseason. The traffic on the site is quite low now compared with the preseason and you want as many readers as possible to marvel at your hard work!

  2. Love ya work Adam, and not just your weekly HOA column.
The weekly output on Captain’s Choice and bespoke comments in other threads has been priceless.

I so nearly ditched Mundy in Rd15 but your response and stats convinced me otherwise. Stuff like that is SC gold!
So thanks mate and I look forward to your preseason piece and season 2019 output.

    Enjoy the break.
