Tell the SCT World all about your Rd1 heroics……..
There are going to be some absolute monster scores this week.. if I didnโt have Libba and Merrit, I wouldโve been one of them
i had kreuz too
2,408 (pre-scale)/Dusty
Studs: Buddy <3, Parker, Dusty, T.Mitchell, Laird, Cripps, T.Kelly, Holman, Billings, Finlasyson.
Duds: Fyfe, Lambert, Naughton (Doedee on bench).
Not happy with my last minute trade of Goldy/McLean to Kreuer/Lambert - this is why you trust your gut and dont make silly changes!
Par will be around 2,300 this week I think. Winner will no doubt have something silly like 2,650+
Feel sorry for those who copped Zorko, Libba and Merrett.
Nice start Hutta.
Yikes there’s gonna be some monster scores for round 1.
2210 for me with Danger chilling on the bench and Zorko on holiday in the Bahamas.
Super pleased with most of my rookies, although Naughton on field over Doedee did hurt. Speculative picks have all looked decent (sicily, Mclean, Lobb etc) but worried about a couple of Premos (zorko, Hibberd, fyfe etc).
Sitting pretty with Danger on the bench
2147/Titch/Not sure yet
Pretty sure this will be slightly under par, as I had some premos under perform, not many of my premos exploded for huge scores, and I copped Tim Kelly’s 118 on the bench *and had Barry on instead of him).
HEROES:
Laird, Doedee, Finlayson, Cripps, Titch, Holman, Gawn, Curnow, Sicily
SPUDS:
Hibberd, Zorko, Fyfe, Kruzer (not technically his fault but still a low score for him), Lambert
Overall a slightly disappointing week, not going to make any trades as of yet, depends on whether Kruzer misses time or not, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s back next week.
So many hero’s for me. Last second trade out of Lycett to Bring Nic Nat in has me on a monster 2518!!!!
Naughton 25 my lowest. Dusty my VC loophole
Massive Matteo,
Well done young fella!
Cheers mate. I’m stoked
Well done Matteo. Fantastic score. Put the work in this week to plan & stay up there.
And he is off and racing!
Great start Matteo
Well done Matteo. NicNat was huge!
Thanks guys. Am so happy at that result. Ended up scaling to 2510. Couple of side notes, just got back from the new Perth Stadium after watching the West Coast game. New stadium is amazing. Seriously next level. If anyone gets the chance get there to watch a game. In terms of footy, one of the most exciting games I’ve seen in a while. So many new faces. Ryan was dangerous and will get better, especially when Kennedy is back. Venables may not have racked up the points or touches but he was everywhere. I can see why he is so highly rated. Can see him playing every game. Waterman I didn’t really notice. Lycett was good to watch as he brought some aggression to the team but is a spud. Thank God I change him last minute to our BOG Nic Nat. Crowd really got around him. How many players ton up on 55% game time. Heeney was amazing. Super fit. Was surprised by Parkers score, didn’t really stand out, but a few of the swans look similar. His goal was amazing. Goal of the year already. And of coarse there’s Buddy. It really pisses me off that some were booing him. He was just next level. I can see why Sydney pay him what they do. He’s everything you need. What a champion. Will win Coleman, and possibly a brownlow along the way. I lost count of how many players we tried to pit on him tonight. There was no stopping him. If you don’t have him in your team. Get him in!
The new stadium looked and sounded amazing on TV, so I can only imagine what it was like live.
Congrats on the score, Matteo!
Dang! Well done!
2240 Dusty
Libba, Merrit and Naughton all under 30 points
Left a fair few points on the bench also..
Not bad start, a few trades will need to be made unfortunately
2513 – Dusty
Could have gone better with Mitchell not captain – Finlayson on bench but lucky with a few too.
Maybe this could be the first year I go for overall #tellemhesdreaming
Fantastic, Mat
Well done!
Well done Mat. Great score.
Ranked 53
#amidreaming
Great stuff Mat. Amazing lobbing in top 100 for Rd 1!
Brilliant job! So Matt & Matt sitting 1 & 2 in the group! #yearofthematt
Underrated name! First the group – then the cash! #dreaming
Awesome start! Well done!
2288/dusty(VCloop)
2373/dusty.
Pretty happy with that score. Had Finlayson and kelly on the bench and 25 from naughton didnโt help.
2275/Dusty
Legendary … T Mitchell
Outstanding …. Dusty, Gawn, Laird, Billings, Cripps, Coniglio Lloyd, J Kelly & Doedee
Solid …. Heeney, D Smith, McLean, Jacobs
Surprised …. Fyfe & Hibberd
No doubt I wonโt be alone, picking Banfield, Brayshaw & Naughton on the field ( bad judgement Catta ) & having T Kelly , Holman & Finlayson on the pine cost me 167 ๐
Plenty of upside for Cattaโs Clan
2325 / Dusty
Thanks to Buddy and Parker for saving my day! I’ll have to trade Liberatore unfortunately, and left more points on the bench than I care to mention, but overall I’m pretty happy.
This was definitely the highest scoring opening round overall that I can remember. A lot of the popular players turned in big numbers!
Solid start Chillo, gotta feel sorry for Libba.
The Libba injury sucks Chillo. No wonder you mentioned carnage today in Canberra. Poor Libba!
Plenty of upside! What’s your thoughts on Libba? Trade to Cogs?
Yeah, he seems like the obvious candidate. I think Schwarz might have a poll planned for later in the week *hint hint*
2372 / Dusty
Pretty happy with that to start the season.
Strange week where I had 130+ scores and some poor rookie scores
Benched both Holman and Kelly which is annoying but have learnt for next week.
Will definitely be holding the trigger and keeping a close eye on Bonner, English and Dangerfield next week and look to do some corrective trades after RD2.
2357/Dusty.
Carried: Bont, Fyfe, Hibberd, Naughton, Bell
2266 / Dusty
Not too bad considering Zerrett got concussed on 17 and Ryder was injured early in the 3rd. A bit of a case of what could have been
Pretty happy with 2306 and Danger on the bench
2264/Titch.
That’s in spite of Zorko and Lycett in the 30’s, and playing Naughton for 25, and having Holman on the bench.
If Zorko had got even close to his projected we’d be in 2400 zone.
Other big flops: Hibberd. Fyfe.
The magician did his disappearing act this week, hopefully he changes his tricks this week!
If he pulls another shocker I might be looking at a couple of corrective trades.
2387 dusty
Would have gone massive if I had T.Kelly on field
2339 Dusty – Finlayson, Kelly on the bench didn’t help. More thought required on Naughton and Brayshaw this week.
2235 / Cripps as VC / C
Libba going down not great, but whatโs 15 points & an early trade compared to the fella missing a year of footy.
Kelly & Holman on the pine rather than Banfield & Libba not great, but glad iโve Got them. Cash cows the important thing early days.
2372, The amazing TITCH
Great: Dusty, Simpson, Cripps, Laird, Billings, Stef, Coniglio, JKelly, Gawn, Petracca, Heeney
Bench : TKelly, Holman, Finlayson
Bogeys: Fyfe, Brayshaw, Banfield, Hibberd, Naughton
2276 / Cripps
Happy with the score considering i had danger on the bench, LDU and Naughtons double 25 with Doedee on bench. Parker, Mitchell, Tim Kelly, Laird, Sicily and Cripps C the standouts
2478 / T. Mitchell
Studs: Laird, H Shaw, T.Mitchell, Dusty, J Kelly, T Kelly, Coniglio, Gawn, Buddy, Billings
Duds: Naughton (Doedee on bench)
Overall very happy with the score……my best RD1 score ever…..hopefully good signs moving forward….
Cheers,
Raj
Great start Raj, onwards and upwards
Well done Raj. Smart work starting Kelly on field.
Well done!
2205/Dusty
Not happy with myself, I took a hiatus from SC last year and came back to make two rookie mistakes. Instead of reading team lists like I should have, I relied on the SC Gold Green/Orange thingo to see who was playing and my colourblindness got the best of me and I assumed Angus Brayshaw was playing. (Doedee was not my selected EMG either).
So, on the theme of my EMGs, I felt pressured to take Nick Holman’s score, since my other two benched rookies played, I decided to have the great idea of trading out Kelly for someone who could give me a donut in order to take Holman’s score and whatdoyaknow, Kelly tears it up!
Nothing unsalvagable, but wish I was off to a great start. Bugger.
I had Brayshaw and traded him to Salem… wish I still had Brayshaw
2260/ Dusty (VC loop)
Had 7 players go 130+, so happy with that. I missed most major injuries.
Only Fyfe, Ellis and Rampe let me down and I probably left 120 odd points on the bench.
2128 / Dusty
Tough start with Zerrett, Zorko and Kruezer.
2171/titch
Thought I was having a pretty decent week until I was just blown away by that last game as coaches just got lovely boosts from Franklin/Parker where Heeney hit the pause button at half time.
Disappointed with Beams Fyfe Naughton Hibberd and Christensen. Ryder got unlucky so I may have to make a trade already which is never good but hopefully Danger comes out firing for me next week. Did well with selecting the right rookies except for Naughton/Finlayson.
1 week down but still 22 to go and my weeks will come eventually
2214/D Martin
120+: T Mitchell, K Simpson, M Gawn, D Martin, R Laird, J Billings, S Coniglio, J Sicily
100+: M Hurley, M Crouch, J Kelly
Disappointed I didn’t start Goldy and R Bonner in place of J McGovern and S Lycett as that was roughly a 110 point differential. Also fielded A Naughton and L Davies-Uniacke over T Doedee and T Kelly which cost 154 points.
2245 Dusty
Got the rookies on the park mostly wrong.
Other Culprits – Christensen, Ryder, Treloar, Bont, Fyfe.
2135/Dusty
Zorko, H Taylor and LDU had absolute shockers – still happy I managed to crack 2100. Early days.
2383 / T.Mitchell
DEF: had Naughton onfield when I could have had Murray (as E)
MID: had Fyfe and Bont in the midfield but lucky I had Holman onfield ๐
FWD: had Fogerty instead of Garlett and traded Buddy for Heeney before lockout ๐
As they say, there is always next week!
2612 / Mitchell
Far out, massive!
Bang!!!
Damn!! What a score!!
Yeah noone scored 2612 in rankings…fake news
Doh! Sorry mistype! Was 2312. I wish it was 2612!
2230 Fyfe
Being a smart ass and thinking not to take Dusty as VC to use a POD was not a good start. However, Danger and Kelly on the bench and a failed week 1 gamble on two mid/low price Lions due to Brayshaw and Brodie outs, wasn’t as bad as it ‘coulda bin’!!
Did not lose a lot on defensive rooks as I had Murray/Fin onfield not Doedee, but Banfield over Kelly hurts. Those rook scores will fluctuate for a while and until a loop becomes available, it’s a week to week proposition.
2257 / Cripps / TBC
Overall, not a bad start to the year. Zorko, Naughton, and Brandon Ellis let the team down (especially Zorko), and having Finlayson and Kelly stuck on the bench was not ideal, but the rest of my players did well, so I can’t complain too much.
Ranked 19,460.
Could be better, could be worse. In any case, the rankings won’t really mean much until things have settled down in another couple of weeks, so I’m not going to lose any sleep over it.
2281/Dusty
Solid start but left 198 points on the bench. Massive scores everyone well done.
Footy’s back how good is this!
SC footy tipping
picked the winning margin correctly & all the winning teams in R1
ranked no 1 in SC
cant believe theres no weekly prize …. GRRRRRRRRR
2214/Titch/30055
Top 17%. Wow some massive scores out there.
reasonably happy though, i have the right rookies, just needs a few tweeks, so long as those rookies keep playing and make some coin, pretty certain i can be competative.
2397/Titch/1990
Luck pretty much held!
Unless something happens over this week, pretty sure I make no trades this round.
I updated my Team Reveal with all my changes and thinking as promised. Wanted to be sure what actually happened was visible in addition to what was planned.
2194 Titch
Pretty happy few points on the bench.
Only concern is Zorko didn’t look good..:-(
2426 – Titch vc loophole
Had many 130 + scores , will be corrective trading over the next couple, was hoping Cox was going to take the next step but he’s simply not up to it. He was the only risk that went south on the weekend.Cogs, English and Nic Nat all paid divdends. Was so close to selecting Bonner , got another week to look at him before trading him in
2183/Martin
Missed out on almost 200 points on the bench putting the wrong rookies on field.
Good: Laird, Doedee, Martin, Mitchell, Gawn, Naitanui and Sicily.
Bad: Hibberd, Fyfe and Walters.
Ugly: Playing Naughton, Clark and Banfield instead of Finlayson, Holman and Kelly.
2219/Titchell
Happy with that considering I had Holman & T.Kelly on the bench, and Zerrett’s injury also with R.Gray waiting on the sidelines. Room for improvement.
2309/Dusty
Very happy this week most of my guns fired except for Hibberd & Fyfe. i stuffed up by fielded Naughton, Brayshaw, Banfield over Finalyson, Kelly & Holman ๐
Studs:
Laird
Lloyd
Doedee
Finalyson (Benched)
Dusty
Titch
Kelly
Cogs
Crippa
Gawn
Martin
Kelly (Benched)
Holman (Benched)
Billings
Duds
Nateo (Fielded wrong rookies ๐ )
Hibberd
Naughton (Mateeeeeee Finalyson benched for him ๐ )
Fyfe
Banfield (Fielded over kelly ๐ )
No trades this week.
2,446 with Titch as skipper and three on field players scoring less than 40.
I cant remember an opening round with such heavy scoring, usually I am happy with a score of about 2,000.
FYI I got this exact score (2230) first round last year for round posi of 11k and this year it zoomed to nearly 26k !!
2246/Dusty
Potential to score a bit better was there – Zerrett’s unfortunate early exit plus bench rookies (murray, holman, t.kelly) outdoing onfield rookies (naughton, brayshaw, banfied), but I’ not unhappy with this as a start.
2127/Titch
Kreuzer. Merret. Fyfe. Naughton. Hibberd. Kelly on the bench. Titch my only saving grace.
Enough said.
2530 finished 26th for the round, lowest score 25 in naughton and vc loophole on martin
2213 with dusty loophole. better rookie choices could’ve got me to 2400 but can’t complain i guess. parker, dusty and mitchell went big but my hero is speculative pick Heath Shaw who tonned up nicely- hopefully he keeps it up!
2340 – Dusty
Naughton was only real fizzer, Fyfe and Hibberd should get better.
Tried a couple of POD’s in T Langdon and Roughy that didn’t work, but will
give at least one more week, probably hold unless they have another bad one.
Changed Heeney to Buddy at last minute ,overall most things fell my way
and no injuries
Strange week for me. Dusty gets a decent captain score. Merritt and rocky sub score so I take a plunge on Mitchell as captain. At this point still have danger. A lot of other players sub score not looking very good.
Downgrade danger to coniglio, upgrade florent(f5) to Franklin. Something doesn’t sit right with Hibbard in my gut, trade to Lloyd. End up on 2170. Respectable from disaster. Just my little short Sunday story..
2318 / T Mitch / 8817.
Very mixed bag with. 3 x 80+ scores on my bench and four scores under 50 on field.
Heaps of Heros with a special mention to Parker ,T mitch and Buddy!
When Ryder went down, I swapped Mclean for Cox ( Thanks FD)and Olango for English. Moving the Captain to Mitchell.
Not sure if I have the balls to bring in Nic Nat for Ryder.
I may run with Cox and English at R2 R3 for now and trade Paddy for a premo forward . Billings, Greene. Or even Danger via Dpp.
I have a few options as Im holding $375K. My” Danger fund” + Mclean downgrade.
2048/Dusty
One word….Zorko….
A few more words…. Fyfe and Hibberd
Last words….. 235 points lost to wrong rookies on the bench….
2457 / Dusty
That included Naughton, Brayshaw and Banfield onfield while I had Kelly, Holman and Finlayson sitting on the bench. Happy but oh what could have been!
